@Dusty Moon – Just because condi output is broken doesn’t mean that resistance isn’t fundamentally broken either.
If both are broken..then nothing really is..except your own bias decides, if resistance is nerfed…so will be condi dmg and when both get downgraded, their relation will remain the same and all you would have accomplished is..nothing
This is so incredibly wrong.
@Dusty Moon – Just because condi output is broken doesn’t mean that resistance isn’t fundamentally broken either.
Truthfully the arena’s should just be treated as a PvP environment. The duels are a bit silly considering the skills you are using would be different in an actual PvP environment since they are using PvE balance
It would help if you could give some examples of which invisible walls you encountered that you think should be removed.
You don’t even need SoI or mimic to achieve those stacks, but those utilities would certainly make it easier to do so.
@Ithilwen – 25 stacks isn’t that hard to achieve, but a mesmer can’t apply it all without being noticed.
Confusing Images – 6 as a base
CoF – Another 8 with 3 illusions out and taking Illusionary Retribution
That’s 14 right off the bat
With Chronophantasma and IR you could easily hit 25 stacks of confusion as a chrono against a single target.
counter to resistance is sigil of absorption it steal resistance over any other boon has 0 internal CD
Resistance is too powerful to be a boon plain and simple. Total immunity to both condi damage and secondary effects from condis is absolutely ridiculous to have on a boon, where you can double the duration of the effect through concentration.
I don’t know how you arrived at your conclusion from that statement.
This might be of some interest to people in this thread. Salvage rates from 4,000 drops from the new map. 1,000 each of Bloodstone-Warped Hides (the drops from the centaurs) and Unstable Hides (which drop from the random white mantle mobs in the map) with both the copper fed and silver fed salvage o matic.
TL;DR – The unstable hides give significantly more T2, 3, 4, 6 leather than the Bloodstone Warped Hides does. I don’t know if this is intentional or not, but if you want leather in other tiers than T5, then the centaur camp is not your friend. Instead just randomly killing white mantle mobs on the map is good-ish at that instead.
They won’t release details about the exploit before its patched. And even after its patched they won’t release anything that isn’t super vague.
Resistance is important for the health of wvw. If anything needs to be nerfed it is conditions over all. Resistance is one of the few things that semi help fight the condition cancer.
I firmly believe that resistance being so incredibly OP is part of the reason why ANet hasn’t reduced the condi spam of some builds. Because otherwise they wouldn’t even be able to tickle a person with resistance. But I do want to see both aspects nerfed simultaneously.
As for resistance, I think it would be fine if it just negated damage from condis and not all effects. Secondary effect, especially movement impairing effects, should continue to effect you even if you have resistance. And then nerf the access to resistance of a few classes, but only slightly. Small shaves like 0.5 or 1 sec less duration on a few skills.
I would like to see the recipes for ascended crafting normalized between all tiers. Currently, if you craft everything from scratch yourself, it takes 36 days to craft all of the timegated mats needed for a light or medium set ( 36 bolts of damask/elonian leather squares respectively), but it only requires 25 days to craft all of the timegated mats for a heavy set yourself (it requires 25 bolts of damask, 18 elonian leather squares, and 16 deldrimor steel ingots). At 11 days difference, that’s a huge discrepancy in the time it takes to craft a heavy set vs a light or medium set. I would really like to see this standardized if at all possible.
Here are a few ideas I had to make the number of days needed to craft the timegated mats yourself more even:
- Add in 2 more recipes for each ascended insignia, using 2 new versions of damask patches. 1 version would use elonian leather and deldrimor steel, the other new version would use deldrimor steel and bolts of damask. If I counted right, this should decrease the number of days needed to make light/medium sets down to 24 minimum, and to make a heavy set down to 25 minimum. Much more even in terms of how long it takes to craft an entire set on your own.
- Keep all of the recipes for insignias the same, but change the recipe for Damask Patches to require 1 bolt of Damask, 1 elonian leather square, and 1 Deldrimor steel ingot, and increase the output to 2 damask patches per recipe. This would make it so that crafting a light/medium set would now take you 27 days instead of 36, and crafting a heavy set would take 25.
Both of these suggestions keep the crafting period of heavy armor the same, but bring the crafting period of light/medium armor much more in line with heavy armor, as opposed to now where they take 44% longer to craft yourself. As it stands, light and medium armor are already more expensive to craft due to needing leather, so making them take an extra 11 days to craft the set is just wrong. And I don’t think that either suggestion will heavily change the price to craft a set of ascended armor. The second suggestion, at current TP prices, would make each Damask Patch about 6.5 gold cheaper to craft since the recipe would now output 2 patches instead of 1. But considering the price of making an entire set, I think that is pretty insignificant honestly. Thoughts?
Don’t all orders help to retake Claw Island in the story? Which would mean canonically, the mentors from each order would still have made their sacrifice so their proteges could escape.
I really don’t get what the big deal is with this PoI. There is a path that takes you very near the PoI itself before you even come in range of any enemies. 1 blink and I was at the door to the room, then two dodges inside and you hit the PoI. That’s like a total of under 2,000 units. Every class has the ability to cover that distance, whether via stealth, teleports, blocks, reflects, large access to heals, whatever. Even Necro should be able to do it easily if they have full life force.
That would be an awful change. Not only are you cutting the distance you can travel with portal down to less than 1/4 what it currently is (which for PvE is awful), with a 5 second limit on it, you also hurt the ability of your team to use it to its fullest extent.
Hmm, do you use minions in your build? It could be a problem with classes that have pets/minions.
No, he said to disable resurrection if the enemy had more players than you did.
Implement a code that disables resurrection when the enemy has more players in a map or area.
Maybe he meant the opposite, but what he wrote would be an awful idea
This may be a stupid question, but rather than all these fancy farms and whatnot, why not tweak the recipe to require, say, 3 leather rather than 4? What does it take more leather to craft the leather upgrade than it takes to craft a bolt of silk?
I seem to recall this same exact conversation a couple of years about, but about silk.
Anet actually answered this question recently. They said that changing the recipes would create a static drop in demand that is extremely unlikely to balance itself out in the long run (case in point, leather: they created a huge static increase in demand with HoT and it was unable to balance itself out, hence the implementation of the new farm). Personally, I still feel as if the better response would have been to change the recipes (either refinement or recipes for patches) to require less leather. That would undo part of the static increase in demand that HoT brought, which should have allowed leather to be able to balance itself out in the long run. But ANet disagreed with me, so we got a new farm instead.
This fight needs to be be detuned more. It’s absolutely awful. A small room full of explosions and that jade construct while having to throw crap at the boss? Who thought this would be enteraining?
I thought the Jade was removed with the patch?
A jade armor spawns later in the fight if you don’t kill Caedecus quickly enough, but its much easier to deal with than the jade bow is
The level of protection we have is minor in comparison to that of War
so lets compare:
war got a 3sec block, while mes has essentially 2 blocks cause you can time the 2 blocking animations better….plus EACH block spawns a phantasm, plus giving alacrity and slowness
mace has a short block, while blurred frenzy evades everything AND deals ton of dmg (for being an evading attack)
phase retreat is basically a stun break on a 10sec cd and chaos armor / storm are really good aswell
okay war got endure pain, but if he used it he doesnt have any defense anymore, while mes can blink away and kite or portal away and be completely safe
im not saying that war is up and mes is op, but just wanted to point out that mes has at least the same level of protection that war has
i also would say that a good mesmer is unkillable, while a good war is not
Mesmer only has access to a second block if they actually block something with the first block on Sh4. So don’t use blockable attacks while its up and you just removed 50% of their blocking abilities. You can also dodge the phantasm summon from SH4 as well, removing their ability to summon the iAvenger. BF doesn’t deal “tons” of damage. Its damage is mediocre for a rooted attack, and its rooted.
What would this accomplish aside from an even greater incentive to blob up?
Even fights!
Seriously? Only allowing the larger group, which already has an advantage, to rez their downed players will make the fights more even? Yea no, that’s not how it works. Maybe if it was the other way around, where only the smaller group could rez players it might be more even.
In the past year and a half, the overall skill level of the Guild Wars raiding community has risen at a staggering pace. Naturally, content will seem easier now as players continue to refine their theorycrafting and personal skill.
Our goal is not to make content easier, but rather add an additional layer of difficulty onto the challenge motes where it makes sense.
Thanks for giving the filthy casuals a bone, not like we spend lots of money on frivolous cosmetics or anything, or used to spend money I should say.
Oh calm down already will you.
I will not, roughly 5 years ago Ghostcrawler wrote a blog Heroics Are Hard on the WoW forums where he talked at us regarding their development philosophy regarding end game content, apparently we must have had an effect with Blizzard despite their dogma because by the end of that expansion cycle they introduced Looking For Raid or as ANet might call in Story Mode Raid ( you know once they come to their senses or NCSOFT throws a dictate at them after the next Quarterly Report).
WTF does WoW have to do with this? I’ll answer that for you. Nothing. WoW has nothing to do with this, nothing at all. Just grow up. If you want to do the raid then practice until you can or pay someone to carry you, but don’t just whine about it
@apharma – The fight was nerfed pretty heavily yesterday, and the second time you did it was post nerf. They lengthened the time you have to hit the special action key (which helps out immensely for those who didn’t have a good keybind, or any keybind for that matter), decreased the amount of knockbacks and stuns, and also removed the jade bow from the fight which was a large source of knockback attacks as well.
You are right though that none of the mechanics are hard for the mesmer class, which is awesome. It was just hard for those of us with bad keybinds for the special action key. But now that isn’t a problem anymore either
Lots of people could pull off the disguise, but who can absorb all that bloodstone energy? It’s a pretty short list, if we stick to the people we already know.
Personally, I think it really IS Lazarus. Or, rather, 80% of him. The attempt to reform him worked, but part of him is missing. That would explain why he’s as powerful as he is, and yet acting much different than people expected him to. Maybe it’s even been replaced with something else, something that mellowed him out some.
Gonna have to agree with you here. I think it is mostly lazarus. but still I’m excited to find out, hopefully we will get answers in the next episode
A lot of people are expecting either 6 or 8 episodes total in LWS3. 6 episodes makes sense because that would be 2 episodes per LWS3 team. 8 episodes makes sense becauses that’s how long LWS2 was. I very highly doubt we would get more than 7 personally.

I agree, thanks for the changes.
So Anet said dps meters are ok. However when i bought this game i didn’t agree for other players to read data from my account thanks to 3rd party software. Why does Anet allow it?
I am sitting right now in a group where some guy is trash talking people because he is top dps and other are not (kind of hard to do it when the encounter requires to constantly kill adds, see 2nd boss wing 4). First day Anet posted this crap is allowed and we already have toxic behavior. Is this what you wanted, Anet?
ANet weighed the pros and cons and feels that the amount of toxic behavior will be far less than the improvement that people will see in general from DPS meters. I defer to their judgement on the issue even though I do think that meters will carry some toxicity with them. Hopefully it won’t be too much though, and the people who will use it to be toxic are people that likely would have been toxic regardless of the meter. So there’s that.
That’s quite a list….
I don’t understand your logic behind buffing mirror and nerfing ether feast. That’s a huge nerf to the healing power of ether feast, even at 3 illusions out you would heal less than you currently do, albeit only a few hundred. But with only 1 or 2 illusions out you would be healing for ~1,000 less health than currently. As for mirror, its already quite a strong heal per second when traited through the chaos line. If it were to be buffed I would decrease the cast time to 1sec and also increase HP contribution to 1 (66% increase in HP contribution).
Welp, I’m certainly not going to complain about ANet making the final fight easier. But I must say I was looking forward towards testing it out as it was after I had come up with better keybinds. Alas, I will have to find other content to test myself with, after I do come up with better keybinds that is.
Thanks for the heads up Ayrilana.
Can’t say I am a fan of this idea. It locks the farm behind those who have access to ls3ep4 only and doesn’t benefit the wider playerbase. Better drops and salvage rates were the answer imo.
I don’t get why such a benefit should be accessible to people that don’t have HoT access … what is your logic behind such a thing needing to benefit everyone?
Because these mats are used by everyone, regardless of whether they own HoT or not.
Dear Anet!
Im a poor hungarian guy. Lot people cry for multiloot to nerf, because they think it is not fair…lol. Okey no problem. Nerf it then, but i ask, where is the fair at the gem price?
An avarage ppl get 300-400 euro in a month in hungary.
A germany, or any other maybe get 1000-2000 euro or more in a month.
So where is the fair? If no more multiloot, than give cheaper the gems for the hungarians.
now 800 gem = 3000 Huf (it is nonsens) give for hungarians 800 gem = 500 Huf
Ty!
The great thing about GW2 is that you can buy gems with gold in the game. So you don’t have to spend your money on gems.

Not necessarily, I had different answers, which leads me to believe that the questions are randomized.
You can use scepeter. It provides a block on low CD, attack speed increase when traited, and has loads of access to torment and confusion. But it is single target which is its biggest drawback. And the block only blocks a single attack, as opposed to BF which evades all attacks during the timeframe. So for a competitive setting, sword mainhand just provides more utility.
The drops just need to be randomized more so that it gives other tiers than primarily T5.
Agreed. Imo, it should be dropping every leather from kitten T6.
A more even distribution of drops through all tiers would be awesome.
I think they need to adjust the entire outpost events for ordinance. I’ve been trying to complete the achievement for days and there simply isn’t enough population or interest in the events. I guess Ill never get my mastery point for completing all outposts.
The whole chain isn’t much of a trouble to get done, is it? at least wasn’t for me when I last did it couple months ago… make sure you’re in a populated map… one last achievement I’m missing there, though, is the Ongoing Defense one which has you defend any one of the towers through a few waves of mobs… people always move on to the next event once the tower gets built and I can’t keep the big hylek from stomping down on it by myself.
I don’t think the event is all that hard to complete personally. But I caution you against comparing HoT several months ago vs HoT now. We now have 4 new maps since “several months ago” that players are spread out in. On top of several months worth of players who finished their VB achievements and won’t come back to the map because they don’t enjoy it. Over time the available population for events in these maps just shrinks. It just happens with “old” content.
I’ve always and I am still hoping for a cleansed Orr map for the players who have already defeated Zhaitan.
And of course newer players and characters have to do everything again..
But, why can’t they create a cleansed, re-build Orr in a different instance?
That would’ve been awesome,
Instancing nightmare. What if I want to go to preZhaitan Orr for events or to help a friend? What if I’m in postZhaitan Orr and a friend who hasn’t done PS wants to join me? Logistically its just simpler to add a new map instead of split them up. Also, splitting a map up into multiple instances will split the population on those maps drastically, making it much more solo play than it is currently.
Yea the defend events do take a very long time. Immersion wise I think this is perfect! It captures the essence of being taken by surprise by an army intent on murdering everyone there. But gameplay-wise I feel they do tend to drag on a bit. I would be fine with upgrading more enemies to elites/champions and having the bar deplete 25-33% quicker.
@RoseofGilead what’s so wrong with using a backway in to get to that PoI? Its possible to get there alone, isn’t that good enough?
It just rubs me the wrong way when basic elements (such as POIs and other objectives for map completion) are locked to people who are playing solo. I felt the same way about hero point challenges with multiple champs in HoT zones, too. Now, secret things, like JPs and hidden achievements, are fine to be hidden, in my opinion. And map completion objectives that are only unlocked by doing meta events are more understandable for me, too. But, at least in my opinion, you shouldn’t be forced to use a teleport to friend, join up with a group, take a longer way that may or may not be easy to reach (I haven’t personally used the back way to the POI yet, so I don’t know how easy it is to find), etc. in order to just complete a map. That’s obviously just my opinion, though; not everyone feels that way.
But it isn’t locked to solo players, that’s the thing. Its entirely possible to do it solo using the shortcut. I don’t understand why you are so against this shortcut. It was purposefully added so that you can do this solo. It takes 5 minutes tops to walk from the nearest WP, find the entrance to the shortcut, figure out the path, and come out near the PoI. This isn’t like you are breaking out of the map and need to find the exact pixel to stand on. Its really easy to do it solo
They shouldn’t change the Orr maps, but I would like it if we got some new Orr maps that showed post Zhaitan Orr. There is plenty of room for it I think (not sure how much space the dungeon map requires)
Are you playing a mesmer? My mesmer always gets stuck in combat during fractals, even when everything is dead. Its extremely annoying
Haven’t finished the fight yet. Between lag and a bad keybind for the special action key that didn’t allow me to always hit it in time the fight was too frustrating for how late it was. I’m not really a fan of so much kitten going on in such a small space in the first place, so its not an overly fun fight for me. I appreciate why it was made so chaotic given the nature of the fight, but I don’t like it.
I honestly just didn’t get that sense at all, I’m not sure where it’s coming from. The fight didn’t seem overly chaotic really. Just run around the outside of the arena picking up shards and chucking them at him until the shield is down, then just dump the full PvE buff combo rotating invulns, blocks, and blurred frenzy until the shield comes back up. Just make sure you’ve got a good keybind for the special action key and…that’s about it. I didn’t even have a stunbreaker in the fight, you can just hit distortion if you really need to get out of a knockdown.
For me it came from the lag and the bad keybind. By the time the action key would appear I would have less than 1/4 sec to hit it, and with just not being used to using it and the aforementioned bad keybind I rarely did hit it in time to avoid his attack that knocks you back. Get hit with one of those when distortion is on CD and you can easily be knocked around for 5+ seconds depending on how unlucky you are. That’s why it was so chaotic for me.
On the bright side this has encouraged me to suck it up and come up with better keybinds, especially for the special action key.
@RoseofGilead what’s so wrong with using a backway in to get to that PoI? Its possible to get there alone, isn’t that good enough?
I’m not a fan of the chain CC in this encounter. Not a fan of the small room which messes with the camera. Not a fan of adds that just add to the chain CC spam.
It honestly would be a perfect encounter if the chain CC was toned down. And a decent way to accomplish that for a lot of players would be to just tone down the jade adds to regular mobs. This way the CC is the same, but people can kill the adds contributing to it much more quickly if they focus it down. If not that, then removing the knockback on the CCs and just making them short stuns. This would cut down heavily on the chained CC nonsense since being hit by one wouldn’t propel you into 3 more.

With how much WvW players complain you guys should be thankful ANet continues to even work on WvW honestly. You complain when you don’t get stuff implemented and you complain when new stuff is implemented.
The problem is that it’s not stuff we want or even asked for! And the most important thing is that none of the updates improve or fix any of the problems in WvW! So spending time of the DBL is a waste of time cos only a minority even like the map, the majority would rather see it gone and replaced with another proper WvW BL.
And people like you who go around spouting that we should be thankful for scraps off a dinner table are not helping and obviously are not real WvW players, cos then you would understand.
I do play WvW. But the problem remains with the players like the ones in this thread. You say that Anet is focusing on stuff that the players didn’t ask for, yet ANet is doing exactly what the player asked for. ANet removed DB, and then players asked for it back. There were a decent amount of people asking for bloodlust to be placed in DB to match the alpine borderlands, and ANet put bloodlust in DB. People continuously whine about DB so ANet has worked on improving the map. People asked Anet to focus on scoring changes first instead of core game mode changes, so ANet focused on scoring changes first. ANet is doing what players asked them to do. Just because you personally didn’t want it doesn’t mean ANet isn’t listening to its players.
Could the updates be coming faster? Yes, I hate how slowly WvW is updated. Absolutely hate it. But that doens’t change the fact that players like you kitten on Anet regardless of what they do to the game mode. You tell them you hate DB and kitten on them for bringing it in, then you go and kitten on them for trying to make it better. Like it or not, the playerbase voted to keep the borderland in, its not going away. So at least be thankful ANet is trying to make it more fun to play on for everyone. But no, that’s apparently too hard. So all players like you do is kitten on Anet for everything that they do.
Is it a big surprise as to why they don’t like developing stuff for WvW? Is it?
Haven’t finished it yet, but so far I love it, and I love the map too! Amazing variety packed into a single map here. Only two things that could be improved so far are
- Hearts are just tedious to fill up unless there is a massive event nearby. Everything just rewards so little progress to the heart bar, even killing white mantle. And honestly this repeatable heart nonsense is starting to get on my nerves. I don’t agree with continuously having to unlock 3, 4, 6 vendors in these maps even after I already did the heart to unlock them. If we are going to continue getting repeatable hearts, can the vendors stay unlocked after the first time you do the heart at least?
- Defend events take for kittening ever. The events are actually pretty easy to complete, they just drag on and on. You would kill a white mantle or 3 and the bar showing how many white mantle forces were left would barely even budge, maybe like 0.5%. If the number of white mantle you need to kill to complete these events could be slashed by 25-33% it would be awesome, and you could even make more of them elites to keep the difficulty about the same, just make the events not take as long
From what I’ve heard, VP is one of those rare creatures where it is easier to kill it with about 5 player who are good with their class than it is to zerg it down due to how it scales. Just be sure you are always breaking its bar as fast as possible
