After looking at the skill myself using its chat code, I actually got a little dissapointed on it. That cast time ruins the flow of the skills, what if I don’t heal till im like at 25% health waiting for the right time to use it and i get interrupted? I am so dead then. I’ll rather use something like elixir h when I’m still at 80% health and play it safe. Also it indeed has horrible scaling. The only thing I see going for it now is using it for an extra sd shot.
Overall its risk/reward does not seem to be worth it and will only be included in sd/gc builds till it gets buffed in a later patch. Though that might be who it was indented for anyways.

Saw this in map chat. The one on the wiki wasn’t working when I tried it before (didn’t show how much it healed for).
Seems like you get healed for 4.7k + 10k if you drop below 1%.
How much healing power did you have when you took that?
How about we remove Coated Bullets as a trait, make pistols pierce by default and instead create a trait that makes pistol´s explosions actually an explosion that works with traits like shrapnel etc?

I disagree. Coated bullets was not OP with a 4s bleed in my opinion. Pericularly since the AoE explosion did not trigger the bleed.
Warrior MH sword (sever artery) is AoE and has a 8s bleed, and appearently it is not seen as OP.
I agree now that we see it, its not really op, but thats not the way anet saw it back then (Or even now probably).
This is one of those traits that I feel has been hindering pistol engineers for a long time now. Back when explosive shot had a four second bleed, this trait was used along with pistol to make a zerg killer, wiping them out with relative ease. Of course people were still learning to play back then but whats been done whats been done and explosive shot got drastically reduced to a 2 second bleed. That nerf really hurt those that do not take coated bullets, as it makes auto attacking with this skill near useless.
In so I am propose a buff to explosive shot, return it back to four seconds but give coated bullets a hinder, where you lose 2 seconds of bleed on ex. shot. Of course I could have waited till next week to see if something is done about the auto attack but I still wanted to throw this idea out there.
Turret builds :S
I feel there’s a lot of confusion pertaining to this skill, this isn’t an activated Heal, it will simply heal you automatically when your health drops to 1% either via condition or attack. Essentially you -will- not be able to be stopped when it procs. That is, if this is the actual skill being granted to us on December 10th.
So consider it a watered down Warriors Healing Signet that instantly activates putting itself on Cooldown when your health reaches 1%.
As long as it is off Cooldown, you -cannot- die.
It’s a gadget skill, and what other gadget is passive? It seems like it will work somewhat like ranger’s troll unguent, but will heal you over 4 seconds instead of 10 and will give a bonus heal if you go below 1%.

It wont heal over time it says it will heal when it ends, so it would be at the end of the 4 seconds. OR if you happen to hit 1% before that time ends. Since it has an or and not an and Im assuming the buff icon dissapears as soon as it heals
If this skill still heal for decent and acceptable amount, I guess it’s alright.
Although, I think 1% is just way too low even for a great deal of heal, and considering the heal will be delayed instead of the usual instant.
5% or 10% seem much more appropriate to me, which will likely heal less than the 1% version in their mind. But I mean, even if they let you heal back to full HP with 1%, how many people can actually do it? o_O

Some of our guild members were discussing this earlier today. We figured that it might not be a bad skill to take for a few options:
1. Seems the toolbelt skill will need a target to activate. This is great for sd builds since up to now, none of the healing skills worked well with static discharge.
2. No cast time. You can activate it while downed or stunned etc, saving you from a potential death.
3. It has potential to heal more in shorter fights (probably at 30 secs or less) than the other healing skills.
Though the only part I am worried about is whether or not conditions will still be able to kill you when you reach 1% while its active.
I wish you could get more than one gasmask. Used it on another character and now regret I didnt use it on my engineer!
Transmute it onto a white to make it account bound and switch it over

Always being annoying running away with slick shoes/rocket boots coming back just to unload conditions on you. Always pulling you, blocking your attacks, perma dodging, always carrying 25 stacks of might and combo’in on themselves. When will it stop? They must go down first T_T

I like to target the enemy engineer when I’m out roaming in WvW. I almost always fight 1vX and I like bullying their engi. Why? To prove I can, mostly. They’re not exactly the easiest per say, but they’re definitely the not the hardest.
Although, I might stop doing this, since I’ve been noticing a trend. Almost every engineer I fight nowadays (note that I don’t play nearly as often anymore) has rocket boots and uses them like a thief’s shadow refuge. Near 50% HP or below? About face & rocket boots to run away and reset. Not only is it annoying, it’s disappointing. Makes engineers look bad if you’re constantly running away, tbh. Learn to dodge better.
I’m guilty of taking rocket boots all the time…but that speed is so useful when chasing other classes trying to run away that are faster than you with their gap closers (openers?) and what not. It just so happens it can be used defensively too :P
Ha its not the first time ive seen this thread pop up here but yea targeting an engineer first is easier since you know what to expect.

Well its more like fa/ioj now since a few transfers led to offserver recruits. At first we just focused on fa since we were trying to build up a core guild instead of scattered but i feel cross server is doable now.
Anyways I don’t think we have many maguumas to help you wvw with, but growing on maguuma would be pretty cool
I mean I get that booby trap has a long cooldown because its an aoe knockdown but realistically if you got more than one person around you you are dead long before you ever get a chance to use it. On the times it used, its most likely because just one enemy was around, so its aoe potential is wasted. 20 seconds is too high as it stands, it should at least be lowered a bit.
imo the turret fix should be: Fix bugs then give em the same damage they do underwater.
And I’m also disappointed that rocket turret and rifle lost their condition damage in favor of vulnerability/more straight up damage
When in doubt just take HGH, it can make any kit viable in pve
I think most of our feelings stem from the fact that someone at anet had the smart idea of deciding to never ever do the fractal for the losing side. Its like, wtf why would you even decide on that when it would just benefit your game and players more to have the other one down the road too?
Medium isn’t purely leather armor though. Its sometime also mixed with metallic pieces and in some cases it can become fully metallic
So people who voted for Kiel based on the Fractals offered got exactly what they expected and voted for.

But anyways, its not our good/decent skills getting buffed, some of them are getting, believe me or not, nerfed. Most of these buffs go to our useless/undesirable traits, so, no, engies are clearly not strong enough yet :P

Rifle auto feels decent. Pistol I agree with, its so weak. Harpoon gun? Not even gonna talk about it, I avoid the water with all my strength. I would also throw in flame jet, the way most of the damage is put at the last hit makes it so unreliable for damage in pvp/wvw fights.
Master tier traits
Some good suggestions on builds that might open up if we improve some of the master tier traits would be good to see. Here is a pretty decent list of master tier traits that I still find underwhelming.Explosive Powder, Enhance Performance, Power Showes, Elite Supplies, Deadly Mixture, Potent Elixirs, Packaged Stimulents, Power Wrench, Leg Mods.
Keep the discussion going and let’s see if we can find some room in those traits to bring those trait lines some more into play.
We won’t be able to address all of the concerns, but we will address the most pressing if we can.

Hopefully you are still keeping tabs on this thread Jon and…Its not that deadly mixture is underwhelming, its that the power portions on flame jet/tranquilizer dart is underwhelming as a whole. A straight damage bonus increase to potent elixirs might make flameblast/acid bomb a little over the top so instead imo the auto attacks should get a power buff to bring out the potential of deadly mixture.
..or maybe you can also add to its effect a small chance to remove a boon per hit thanks to whatever mixture you mixed the flamethrower with. It would synergize nicely with the flamethrower and might make it a weapon you do want to keep its distance away from. It can open up the ft as a boon removal build

Slightly off topic but its too bad future engineers wont get a chance at the gas mask, its been a huge hit with the engies.

The only part I have a problem with is where Chris said they don’t give more attention to the noisiest/most aggressive groups, which is flat out lies. I remember listening to a dev in a stream clearly say they were reverting stealth from 4 back to 3 seconds in pve because thieves were whining so much about it.

Oh dont spend your money yet. You can always try the build in spvp first and tweak it there before buying anything you might regret.
At this point everyone but anet is pretty much aware that the winners of leagues are going to be the servers that got a huge influx of players and these battles will be won by numbers alone. To me it seems a little idiotic that these servers will even be rewarded while those who did not transfer/stayed loyal to their own servers will get the worst rewards. However, giving them an exra title as a reward such as “Defender of SERVER NAME” would help balance out ths injustice and maye even promote server loyalty. A title showing you stayed and helped out your server would be more rewarding than anything bandwagoners could ever get.
I wa playing around with my sd build today (shouldve recorded some 1v1 >.<) and since the build is still fresh in my mind let me see…
Sd builds hit really hard, battles are usually over quick. The thing with yours is it might hit a little lower since you are replacing potential damage with an escape utility. Irc minefield would just shoot straight ahead/down with sd.
A little of my opinion but you might want to replace rocket boots with net turret/rocket turret depending on the situation since static discharge will only fly toward your target if you use a skill that targets them. Personally I would go healing turret over med kit. Replace go for the eyes with rifle mods. Most battles end in about ten seconds or less and the quicker you bring down their hp the better. And acidic coating with protection injection, it has a more noticeable effect in battle.
P.s. just stay away ftom necros.
Everyone has different ideas of what “engineer” means. I came across an old screenshot from something I completely forgot (indicative of how bad it was). I played Hellgate:London and Engineer was my class. LOLOLOL! This whole time I was thinking that GW2 was the first time I played such a class. It was a ranged class that used hovering drones like pets. And a lot of the armor looked heavy with all sorts of masks.

Dont forget aetherblade too! But in that regard, I think anet had actually been listening to us. We ended up getting aether and magitech back to back which was actually awesome considering before we only had se armor at best.
Even though its not engineer style, I thought the medium set on charr looked pretty sweet. As for other sets…(I only keep seeing human/norn posted >.>) Its so-so.

All the charr should just stick with standard military haircuts. They got no sense of fashion.
Theres like no way our downed state is even on their radar right now, which is a shame. I do hate being unable to fight back but I dont think well ever see such a nice change for engie. Best I can hope for is to remove weakness and freeze from 1.
