Since t1 servers are hard to get into, a day or two before leagues start, everyone who couldnt make it in will then flock into whatever server is ranked #7 at the time (since that will most likely translate into silver 1st place). Might end up being the same for bronze league and end up making some blowout mach ups. For a whole season.

Feel free to say Penguin was right after all this happens

Definitely terrible for TC/FA/number 6 (got a feeling DB isn’t going to be there when leagues roll out), but not necessarily better for T1 servers either. There’s less incentive to de-stack now and queues could become a real problem when the achievement crap makes all the PvE people jump into WvW. JQ and BG have massive PvE populations and I’m sure SoR isn’t a small server either. Ditto TC.

Nobody wins when there’s no reason to de-stack, and god knows there’s no reason to de-stack now. If anything people from 4-6 are going to move up or down to avoid an entire season of being run over, the top half of the league drown in queues while the bottom is empty.

Yeah I should be migrating up or dow a bit, but my loyalty to fa is screwing me out of rewards. There really is no way we will be able to get first, second, or even third place rewards when paired up against those poplulated capped servers.

Turrets are not designed to stand long. Place turret, overcharge, detonate. That’s how it is meant to be. No tower defense in gw2.

I agree. Heck they even set a timer on it in case it was up for too long. Cant let those turrets be defending now can we?

A useful turret build

A quick question about damage:

I’m looking over the wiki and I find that turret damage does not scale with our stats or weapons, no surprise there, but conditions applied by turrets do. Doesn’t this mean that, theoretically, a turret build would benefit more from gearing for condition damage than power? It seems to me, at only a cursory glance, that a flame turret and overcharged rifle turret being used with high condition damage would be a superior DPS build, especially when paired with pistols.

I would have said something similar to Sylentir. And yea turrets benefit more from condition power but the imo a net turret and rocket are still as useful as flame/rifle. In case you haven’t noticed, rocket turret burns on every hit. On normal attacks. Its kind of like a long range flame turret in a way. I’m half and half on rifle turret since it only does bleed on overcharge and even then if leaked notes are true that will be turned into stacks of vulnerability. Net turret is all around useful and fun, one of the best turrets we have, even if it doesn’t do damage itself, it can guarantee damage from other skills.

I would like to see it back as well, a kit would make mines much more interesting to use.

From the oct 15 preview, one line Jonathan said struck me a lot for engineer changes. “These just didn’t have enough cool play to them, and we wanted to improve them.” Well Jon, I think you should add throw mine to this section too. Its kinda not fun to use (and they don’t last long enough to properly defend)

I’m sure they are just testing out their anti stealth implementation at the moment, I think its pretty likely they’ll give some other classes anti stealth too later on. I’m hoping utility goggles becomes a viable candidate for the next anti stealth skill

You don’t actually know what “false advertisement” means, do you?

They advertise their new backpack skin with the CONCEPT of engineer esthetic. You see a character wearing medium armor set with engineer flamethrower. They advertise it using engineer elements doesn’t matter if its npc or not. Don’t tell me a character wearing magitech armor with flamthrower doesn’t look like engineer.

But the turth is you can never have that look on your character due to hobosacks. So they advertise something that you can’t actually have in the game.

So tell me now, do you know what is false advertisement means Isaac?

One of the devs has already mentioned they were trying to make hobosacks obey the hide backpack checkmark. Plus there was even a note about it in leaked pach notes so Im not sure were you are getting that never-gonna-have-it-on-engie from

By now I assume you guys have figured out, from the trailer that image is taken from, that he is actually a NPC using a non-player kit that seems to fire oil rather than flame.

I’m thinking this can be how anet is going to try to add more skills to the game while making it feel natural aka Living story feel. Instead of just patching it in, players would see npcs use those new skills and by the next patch, the players have stolen that technology/reversed engineered those skills to use themselves.

Imagine you taking down 1 gate/wall of a a keep/tower. Imagine 50 people inside which ain’t that abnormal. Imagine they all chaining their aoe into the gap. Good luck walking through and surviving.

Aoe cap is there not only for the servers, but also because some things will be just impossible to cap and some classes will be rediculously OP. Like Ele and ranger, no. If aoe is unlimited, make healing unlimited aswel and all the other spells. But OOPS, we are back to 0 than…

So yea aoe cap is there for a really really good reason.

There is a dev post flat out saying, in plain english, its there for the simple reason of server performance.

I will say it again. If the cap were raised performance would suffer greatly. That is why it hasn’t been changed.

Even a cap raise to at least ten would still be too much? Because at the moment it sometimes feels like 5 is too small

As for team queue. Sure it shows skill too. But it is a different part of skill. It is more about finding a lame comp and abusing it vs pugs. I have had opportunities to play with top players in teams. Many times. But to be honest that isn’t fun to me. In team queue I pug and we basically will never play the meta set up. I know who the best players are solo, I can tell when I fight them. There are bad players at the top and all through both leaderboards. There are also bad players carried by lame specs. That is what I want to change, and that is the point of this thread.

Going by the skills/traits on top of your list, it seems like your agenda is to remove everything that hard counters necros as a whole. I would disagree with removing hard counters, they are useful in fighting against cheesy builds that would otherwise dominate the scene in pvp or wvw. Anet probably thinks so too, since they’re adding more to the game instead (anti-stealth)

Edit: Though I agree with some points such as asura size and sigil of energy

We have one in FA that I see once in a while. In one of my favorite moments in game, a thief was harrasing him and wouldnt let go. After a while the thief got careless and we were able to kill him, after which the dev /laughs at the corpse. I started laughing so much glad to see devs feel the same way we do about them :P
I have it all recorded I just got too lazy to ever upload it.

Quick info:

After doing a guild bounty and guild rush, some of our guildies had logged. By the time for our guild challenge, we knew we wouldn’t have enough people to beat it (Plus a lack of inexperience with that mission). Due to that we decided to screw it and just have some with with all of us running turrets in it! A video isn’t enough to describe how fun it was but still here you guys go!~

I can agree with Arkham that this class is badly designed. Its sad that we don’t have weapon swap because the possibility of multiple kit and to toolbelt, our true profession mechanic, is designed to make up for those lost utility slots. Other classes get their mechanic for extra skills at no cost but not us, just think about how bad that was implemented.

Now with that said, I’ve gotten used to it by now, playing the engie is almost like playing the class with no profession mechanics and I’ve just accepted that. By now I really doubt anet would ever try to improve that much.

Pretty much that, though I can see how people unfamiliar with engies would say that. They are noticeable utilities, but in the end kits are just that. More utilities.

Also I wanna add in since I also see this a lot, stealth is not a thieve’s profession mechanic either.

But if I had to guess on an effective build it would include rife, 30pts alchemy for auto response and thumper and rocket turret. I cant tell how he wohld react but I would start with dropping a supply crate on him. The quicker those turrets get on the field the longer they cause damage. Then quickly follow it up with net shot…jump shot then overcharge. keep the pressure up after by droping rocket and trying to get near him to drop and overcharge thumper

Option 2: Start with gearshield run toward him, unleash overcharge then drop ur crate on him

I don’t think that is a problem at all. The power tick plus a second of burning would be roughly almost equal to flamestrike if you wanted to play it that way.

Move the burning to the first attack.

1st reason: Synergy with itself.
Although I am aware you can burn your opponents before hand with other skills, it still makes little sense that the attack doesn’t benefit from its own burning unless you keep auto attacking.

2nd reason: Make it harder to escape from ft users
I’ve had plenty of times when I’ve attacked someone at very low health with flame jet (Other skills on cd) just to watch em escape. Its basically giving them two seconds of very low damage output before the decent damage hits, plenty of time to heal/leap away/stealth etc.

On demand vigor is on par with 50% endurance regen since when? Seriously if someone can’t figure out how/when to use vigor on demand effectively the issue is with the player not the trait. I should have been more clear in my post when I was saying that adrenal implant is mostly useless, but there are certain situations in which it can be of value. Either way the person I was responding too was complaining that engi’s 50% endurance regen is a 25 point and ranger’s is a 5 point. I was trying to draw attention to the fact that there is no need in trying to compare the two since we can literally have permanent vigor whenever we want with a 20 point investment. Don’t get me wrong there are some traits that are a bit out of place or under performing but that holds true for literally every single class.

No I meant that since vigor is 100% and adrenal is 50%, even if you forgot to get swiftness for half the time you played (and thus vigor) it would still be at least as good as adrenal and pretty much vigor is always the better option

Why do we need 50% faster endurance regen when we can have permanent vigor from kit swap or on crit with a 20 pt investment in lines that most players will run anyhow? That trait does not stack with vigor, the only time that trait is useful is if you are running a sd build which most likely you will be going 30 in tools anyhow.

Even then you would still be better off taking another trait instead of adrenal implant and spending a few more points on alchemy if u wanted faster regen.
Consider that even if you forget to put up swiftness for half the time you play, invigorating speed would still be on par with adrenal implant.

Anyways we have some game changing skills, but there are other skills I would like to see completely changed.

Auto bomb dispenser: If you need defense for when disabled, protection injection (and stabilized armor to an extend) does it way better on a much much shorter cooldown.

Adrenal Implant: People have already stated why its not grandmaster worthy

Armor Mods: I’m actually half and half on this one….I guess aegis might save someone but at the same time it feels underwhelming. Maybe have a cd reduction on it.

Actually Engineer has an instant cast stability/stun break on the thumper turret tool belt ability. Granted the stability is 1.25 seconds long… BUT STILL it’s an instant cast, it breaks stun AND it’s a blast finisher! It’s pretty decent if you ask me… Although I’d gladly swap the blast finisher aspect of it for some extra stability…

I wouldnt. Rumble/explode turret is a double blast finisher in one. The potential for it is too good to trade up :P

I go to orr everyday with my engineer to farm ori and ancient, and even though lots of mobs there have cc, Im still fine with since I can just use rocket boots and magnet shield to move around with relative ease.

Now with that said, I avoid the water as much as possible. That sink status makes me scream at my monitor! >:(
Imo if they wanna make underwater combat appealing to players a good start would be by removing that blood boiling rage inducing state.

Well push yourself to play something else! cause really nothing is stopping you from rerolling but yourself. You say that the reason you have this dilemma is because it is simply your style but I think its time you try and change that style.

And that does what to address the issue of all the soul-bound, one-of-a-kind event items I would lose access to?

Transmutation splitter, or transmutation crystal. You can turn ANYTHING from soulbound, to account bound. Simply transmute it to a white item, then transmute that white item (with desired skin) to the new exotic/ascended item.

It can be done with anything, even legendaries, special level 1 items (like thief hood, elementalist head elementals, guardian pauldrons, and necro glowy eyes.
