I frequently hit the weapon swap key on my thief all the time by accident (right next to auto attack – great spot for it lol). Often this locks me out of swapping back to my preferred set and pretty much means I kitten myself for a few precious seconds. Very self destructive in pvp. Maybe its my fat fingers, but I wouldnt mind if the cooldown was eliminated. They will need to apply cooldowns or restrictions to on weapon swap abilities or this will be widely abused.

Maybe it would help if you bind weapon swap to another key

The engineer “changes” over the past few patches end up making a lot of engineers spend money/time on re-gearing. The same frustration you had on your mesmer. It will certainly happen again. ANet said in the last State of the Game they’re going to nerf grenades again. So if you’re leveling one up. Don’t get too attached to the ’Nades.

Can you link this for us?

They talked about how they were thinking about toning down grenades a bit more in the last SOG, but were also considering that they were skill shots and all that.

I tried playing without speedy kits. I can’t do it. After a while I’m so used to perma swiftness that any other method of play feels so slow so speedy kits is a must.

Engineer, because flamethrower and grenades and other kits drew me in when I first created a character.
And I’m counting on that future expansions will most likely include more awesome kits like a minigun or chainsaw or something

No cd kit swapping is probably what engineer is best known for, without it they would loose a lot of identity (Whats so unique about them anyways?)

Though I wouldn’t mind if other classes could instant swap too, wouldn’t bother me either way.

Not much? It got a 30% damage reduction on #1 during December. Basically our traited grenade throws today are equal to untraited grenades back then, and yeah they were useful back then without requiring hgh.

I’m sorry to hear that but hopefully you did learn to never gamble again in this game, the rng is against you and you will definitely feel bad when you don’t get it. I learned my lesson too during one of those events with special skins in the black lion chests and I will never spend real money on those ever again.

And for you think of it this way: Even if the only thing learned from this experience is not to bet on rng again, then at least it wasn’t a total waste of money.

It makes me sad to think other people will fall for this too, for next event we should be putting up warnings for everyone to see.

You are most likely looking at the wrong class if you are looking for a class that wont be nerfed in the future. Just go to monthly patch notes and look at our changes every month.

What is happening right now with our class is that devs are throwing out buffs to our turrets trying to get them playable (Ironically they screwed up the engineer traits this last patch none of the turret traits work) so I predict we’ll get a few more hp buffs on turrets, but hgh might get hit. Probably through internal trait cooldowns because devs enjoy throwing internal cooldowns at us. Best case scenario sigil of might gets nerfed instead.

Other than a possible hgh nerf, I don’t think there would be anything else left to hit after that though.

I think engi grenades are fine where they are, tbh.

I had a HGH nade engi talking smack to me in a game yesterday, because I wasn’t pro enough to be at the top of the points or whatever roll eyes. I then proceeded to destroy him in a 1v1 on side points, twice.. he couldn’t get me under 50% HP. ( 3 or 4 other times as well, but they were interrupted)

I play a rifle engi.

Those FoTM builds will always come and go, though… So it doesn’t really matter.

lol off topic but same thing happened to me back when 100 nades was fotm. I was playing around with an sd build and some engie starts getting all mad when I kill him, calling me a noob and not a real engie for not using 100 nades like he was. I was like….okay… lol silly asura

And risk vs reward? lol thats the first time someone said engie has that. Its very hard for an engie to escape once he is in a fight, I can think of other classes who have way less risk that engie does.

Engi has quite a few escape mechanisms plus supply crate. And one HGH engi can down 3+ people on a point while one ele or bunker guard tank the damage… once again.. NO OTHER CLASS CAN DO THAT! Yes I am sure this build is a low risk high reward build… Especially with the condition damage.

Stop letting the engi do whatever he wants, a necro(good condi that aint braindead) or a zerker well necro can rip through a small point faster if left alone.

And hgh engi really do have limited escape mechanisms

They have more escape mechanisms than any necro… and they have the same amount as a tourney built mesmer (IOL/Portal Requirements). This particular build is over the top whether you want to admit it or not… Take necro for instance (blood is power) and look at what they have to do just to get 10 stacks of might…. Look at what happened when mesmer had their shattered strenght nerfed… The Ele blast finisher on evasive arcana was nerfed limiting how they can stack might as well… So you are telling me that after all of these nerfs to other professions might stacking abilities this build does not need tweaking?

Okay, so what are their escape skills?

Elixir S they can also have it traited to where they get an elixir S at 25% health. They also have better access to protection and regen they also have 7 (elixir B at 75% health 8 if they take the elixir S trait) condition cleanses which out shines any mesmer tourney build by far. Which can help negate the need for escape skills. Having that many condition cleanses helps negate the need for escape skills.

Okay, so they don’t really have any escape skills for when things go south. There goes the low risk part

What happened to the ‘short duration, hard to apply, situational, large impacting’ boons and conditions ArenaNet were talking about prior to beta?

The same thing that happened to stealth being only used tactically.

Anyways more hard counters to boons were given out to classes, is that really not enough still?

Need more Weapon and Armor Skins.

We all know that turrets were given a time limit of up to only five minutes at a time, as a result of afk farming (which I never really saw people do much really and could be done with pets and what not but thats for another topic).
My suggestion is that every time turrets are overcharged, that five minute time limit is reset. This way people still cannot go afk and people who use them legitimately are not penalized.

Engie has some good build in pvp (well hgh focused builds, bomb heal builds, tanky ones in general), though other builds aren’t there yet.

Engineering as a class mechanic: Essentially, give the Engineer a way to modify their skills (possibly via that old Engineering Traitline thing I had) to better suit their playstyle. This would give the Engineer more of a class identity.

I think class identity is something we really need.
Consider that we don’t have weapon swap because we get toolbelt skills. So we can say toolbelt skills are equal to a weapon swap. Every class can weapon swap, so what exactly is ours class identity? Well if you treat the toolbelt skills as a weapon set then our class identity is basically that we can use two weapon sets at the same time.
/thinking about it too much

I guess kits could be considered part of our identity too though

The difference is Engineer’s kits count as other weapon abilities. Similar to Elementalist and attunement, they unlock whole new weapon abilities.

If anything, both Elementalists & Engineers get 4 (or 5 including med kit) weapons, so if anything all other professions should be able to cycle through 4 sets.

Why do these professions get 20 weapon skills to play around with but others only get 10?

If anything, eles and engies got the short end of the stick here (mostly engies). Their class mechanics just ended up being slightly more skills or skill swapping, but to get that they lost the ability to weapon swap.
Other professions got true class mechanics where they didnt have to sacrifice jack for theirs. Whats the differnce between a guardian and an engie? an engie got one more skill slot at the cost of weapon swapping.

Edit: Im only talking about class mechanics here, you know those skills that you always take no matter what build you have, not about kits, who already have damage tax to pay for instant swapping.

I’m sure it has a really small blast radius but definitely not 240. I know I’ve been able to hit two mobs when they’re standing really close together but that’s about it.

I wish its radius was bigger though, turrets would help a lot more in group fights than they do atm.

Update: the skills and balance team are going to take a crack at this and other sigil/rune bugs, so they can decide on a case by case basis whether the tooltip or the effect needs to be updated. (And we’re working on a system that will base the tooltip on the mechanical effects, so we don’t have to make sure they match up by hand.) Thanks all!

Didn’t wanna post it here since it was about runes of centaur but now that you mention it, while runes are getting fixed make sure to look at lyssa runes not activating with supply crate and other elites >.<

Sadly enough someone posted a bug on centaur runes and that one got a reply already. People (including me) have posted the lyssa rune bug on the same section, but it still has gone unnoticed. :/

Yes don’t ever ever waste your money on rng crap when there’s a chance you will come out disappointed, because in reality those odds are against you. Don’t ever think what if you get lucky, because you won’t. Just spend it on things that you’ll know you will get for sure, like say the molten pickaxe. You will be much happier that way.

i didnt say m esmer was reliable. but more reliable. when all 3 play burst mesmer and warrior ahve so much more hp which leaves room for mistakes and gives extra time to stay on the offensive. for instance if all classes take 1k dmg per second and all 3 classes are on the offense….which class has to stop first and enter defensive/heal/escape mode? also those 3 weapons are super slow…if u dont think so ur just wrong…srry its a well know fact. there are several threads about the issue too. so how exactly do i not know what im talking about mr troll sir? you know that like 80% of your messages are in response to mine? you have a thing for me or something? they all hate too….not only hate they have no content to them. give an example dont just hate. say “you are wrong bc bleh bleh bleh” not "you know nothign…i am sunflowers…the end " lol cmon man bring something to the table i dont mind a good debate or a different point of view. and there is no law of the world that says i am invariably correct on this topic or any just as there is none that makes you so. get of your high horse . holy wow.

I would just like to point out mesmers only have one higher rank for hp than thieves do, but thieve’s armor is a rank higher than mesmers, so they would have about the same room for mistakes.

I can count with one finger how many times I have gotten a black lion key as a reward since the game launched. I even remember when it was. I was doing the halloween dungeon when a mob dropped it. I was like..wth I haven’t seen one of these drop since beta! And now I haven’t seen one drop since then.

~So yeah I feel the drop rate is pretty bad, you probably have a better chance of getting a precursor drop than a key drop.

Speedy kits being our best option for perma swiftness requires a kit build and an agonizing exercise in tedium(rolls eyes). The other option is an HGH build (again, rolls eyes).

Please, if someone on the dev team is listening, either give rocket boots a passive 25% buff (disabled on use if you’re really concerned with equality there) or change Power Shoes to be 25% all the time.

Yes having power shoes 25% all the time makes sense. Even though thy are awesome, there are many instances in which I don’t want to use a kit and expand my options a bit

New anti Thief WvW features

I somehow think (or hope?) those traps will are more of a anti-zerg weapon and not your personal anti-thief win button.

Also if thieves will be able to drop them down in stealth on key locations it will make us more useful.

It really depends on the implementation and it can add another dimension to WvW if done well.

This is true as well. It just sucks that its going to be even harder to get into a group and pick off targets.

I see the point of this, they are trying to get rid of zergs but going about it in the wrong way. They need to add objectives that forces big guilds to break up their groups and take different points.

Example: Make keeps have 4-5 towers around them, they HAVE to be taken before you are able to take the keep. Then also make the towers have NPC controlled siege that attacks people taking the towers and the keep it self needs more NPC controls siege to defend the keep if the towers are not taken. This way you are force to split your massive zerg up and actually think about tactics.

I’m not sure if that would really stop them from zerging from tower to tower. If towers were made to break up zergs then they would have low hp to allow a few people to be able to capture it. But if that was the case then its probably something zergs would be able to take down in a shorter amount of time

I was liking the living story a lot, until I started to try and get the jetpack. Knowing I only got a limited time to try and get it is only making me hate this timed exclusive events more, especially that I can’t even get on all day to try and get it with real life and end of semester projects due around this time >.<

Now I’m not saying I just want it hand over, but I want some way to know that I was progressing in some way and getting closer to getting it would have been good. Like, say, a jetpack that cost 20 dungeon tokens but you were only getting one per run.

I always had this idea in my mind that engies should be able to summon a little mechanical minion with a twist. Every time it meets up with another allied robot they transform together and get stronger until eventually it becomes something awesome~
