I remember seeing a mes/ranger duo in pug, who did moa morph+ that 20 second root duration. There was no escape.
/just sharing
If you really wanted to afk grind, you could still do it with a ranger pet, I dont think this was a solution to afking. Or at least make the time limit pve only, I would hate to be fighting and watch my turrets blow up mid battle.
It will happen to someone.
I don’t know I want to like and use turrets, but their lack of mobility just really hurt them for me as I roam with a guardian. Also would you use power for damage? Or would you use conditions? As rocket does aoe burning?
Turrets dont scale with power, only condition damage.
Depends if you mean pve or pvp in general, but I usually play with metal plating, self repair and rifled turret barrels. For pvp/wvw I have been thinking about removing self repair since I dont see much of a difference between having it and not having it. Regeneration is ten percent every ten seconds, not a noticeable difference in fights that take between 10-20 seconds to finish.
Lately I have been trying out turret builds. Running with med kit(for speedy kits), rifle turret, thumper and rocket turret. The great thing about those turrets is that even if i’m stunned (such as when a thief is trying to backstab me) I can still use overcharge and kind of fight back.
Also I dont think anyone noticed, or maybe my memory is bad – but didnt overcharge for rifle last 5 seconds on a ten second cd? At the moment its 10 seconds on a 30 second cd I dont remember it being that way.
Results so far: turrets are good as usual 1v1 and i get my fair share of kills, but you cannot be caught in a fight with your turrets or cd or you are nearly screwed. With a tanky build I can still survive long enough to place them back down again though
p.s. Im loving rifle turret, when overcharged its like having a second ally doing auto attack hip shots to the enemy, and it definitely starts to add up

Most of the effects of kit refinement are awesome (except you superspeed) but the thing people are arguing about is that no matter how good it is, if you cannot get its effect when you need it its useless. Sure you could save for it and not switch weapons, limit yourself, travel slower without speedy kits etc. But then why would you take a trait that hinders you when they are supposed to be helping you out?
Personally the refinement change doesnt bother me much, but I can see why others are upset about it.
It does increase the burn..bleed etc your turrets do
seems like they focused on engineer this patch. he.
Not sure that was a good allocation of resources, if the Eng forum is anything to go by.
Most of us are happy, some of us just hate how 100nades is completely destroyed now. But im enjoying my awesome new turrets~
I’m pretty sure both sides of the spectrum are going to get hit, it just happen to hit burst damage first. If bunkers had gotten hit first, it would have pushed away casuals even harder. I think it was the right call.
I gave it a quick go, I found it pretty useful and fun.
Though this is from spvp and not tpvp but I’m liking the changes
In other news: have you guys noticed the new awesome Jump Shot? They removed the hover of misery!
The hover is still there, came from using rifled barrels trait.
lol yes!
I can almost hear the sound of bones cracking as their armor is smashed with our giant magnets,
I for one welcome our engi overlords.
I am pleased, your life shall be spared.
I would like to see every kit have its own cd and move it up the tool tree line, and anything else can just about be moved down.
Leg mods: 10% faster while holding unarmed kits? Master to adept
Armor mod: 5 seconds of retaliation when critically hit on a 25 sec cd? grandmaster to master.
I’m pretty sure they said they didn’t want adept traits to be build defining, but it just so happens our higher traits in tools are not exactly build defining either. The tools tree is just pretty bad all around except for the few noticeable adept traits (Which is pretty ironic).
huh… rocket boots feel a bit different… I havent used them for a long time but…. didnt they stun us for 2 seconds AFTER we flew back?
Now we´re “stunned” while we fly back and stand up almost immediately.
Really? I still feel the same when i tried it out
“Automated Response trait: Grants immunity to conditions when the inflictor has over 100% duration.”
So has anyone noticed a difference with this trait? I haven’t
Agreed. I love the changes to our formerly useless KR effects (med kit and bomb kit) but the trait is still all about getting the strong effect and avoiding the weak effect. Only now that the 20s ICD is working correctly, it’s a big problem to “waste” kit refinement on a useless effect.
Lol yes, even though kits are supposed to allow to switch weapons more freely than with weapon swap, I find myself more restrained when I put on this trait now. I’m hoping that is not what the developers went for when making a trait for kits.
well that trait got nerfed into the ground. well atleast we will get more build diversity out of it =\
When I hover over super speed it always starts off at one second
… the game doesn’t support fractions of seconds on those tooltips
I know but you would expect to see it start off at two seconds if it started at two seconds
When I hover over super speed it always starts off at one second
you can place down bombs, specially big old bomb and pull then bush mobs away, and spvP it works great since no one has a clue what engineers are or what we can do
Ha they will soon enough!
A lot of our changes are awesome, and I’m very happy about that. However, toolkit seems a little worse than the rest with only a one second super speed with a 20 second kit refinement cd. Granted its a little early to make assumptions about how it will play out, but doesn’t that seem a little low to anyone else?
@Kubetz.3058…
Fixed it!
Haha I was way off! :P
So…Engineers…this is US RIGHT NOW…
Thank you, ANet, for giving us some love.
That link is broken and contains “kitten”
. Hope I’m not missing something there.
Kittens? Here I’ll fix the link for you

As an engineer this is how I’m feeling right now
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6EfhAFA2yFE&list=PL3E21CC88E0F0F146&index=164
Yes
I am not a 15 char banana
I believe this also applies to us:
Rampage skill:
The Kick skill now lunges towards the target slightly, extending the range.
Players can now use the Throw Boulder skill while moving.
Kit-Refinement, Med Kit:
Equipping this kit applies Magnetic Aura.A 5 second reflection, how cool is that!!
And … no more boom boom boom
Yes magnetic aura every 20 seconds sounds awesome!
Ok thanks, guess that isn’t still much useful (for me) then lol
“Rune of Speed: Updated the 6-piece effect to display its actual constant effect: +5% to movement speed.”
So with swiftness I should be able to get a 38% movement speed thou right?
Since patch isnt out yet hoping a dev could answer this
“Stabilized Armor trait: Reduces incoming damage by 5% while endurance is full”
Isnt that how it has always worked already?
“Elixikittenll:
Removed Quickening Zephyr from the base elixir.
Removed Veil from the toss mechanic.
Now casts instantly and breaks stuns.”
lol kitten
Also cheers for so many bug fixes ^^
A 5 minute time limit on turrets? :/
And 20 secs for kit refinement is a lot..we’ll see how this works out…

I love when people try to use common sense in games, like the guy above.
That’s like saying that necros shouldn’t be able to bleed inquest golems because they’re robots.
broken mechanics are broken, no pet or npc should keep agro on a stealthed target.
Common sense is a thief’s worst enemy. Its not like you dont exist anymore when you stealth, we know you are there…somewhere.
Im pretty sure you can create characters with those kinds of eyes in game if you set them big enough. Having said that, she still looks creepy, like those women who try to anime-fy their eyes.
Rocket boots should throw us in a random direction.
Pro:
If we’re lucky it’ll help chase down someone fleeingCon:
We fall of a cliffRocket boots are very easy to aim offensively once you get used to the “aboutface” key binding.
Not enough rng like that, wheres the fun?~
Elixir S :
Shrink you down and make you invulnerable to attacks
or
Turn double the size and take 2x damage and all projectiles now automatically track to you only.
I used to like how elixir s before also made you bigger when you tossed it and got stability. I wish they hadn’t removed that part :/
Rocket boots should throw us in a random direction.

If we’re lucky it’ll help chase down someone fleeing

woops meant “Plus expected 100nades/speedy kits nerf”*
I’m trying to stay overall positive.
*Rocket kick animation changed
- Revamped/new gadget traits
- Battering ram is either long or aoe.
Turrets:
- Increase health by 30%
- Increase damage on rifle
- Thumper cripples
- Still no fix for rifled barrels and jump shot
- no fix for scope
Plus expected 100nades/toolkit nerfs
Edit: Meant speedy kits not toolkit lol

It just occurred to me that the engineer may have once been labeled as juggernaut instead of engineer. When developing the professions the juggernaut class, a heavy profession, was scrapped because its role was too similar to the warriors. My theory is that the flamethrower and rifle skills come from it, as they are made to be close range, plus the flamethrower trait juggernaut was from…well the juggernaut. Plus we know that the engineer at one point was a heavy armor class. So does this all add up for you guys too?
Here is this link one more time to show what I’m talking about:
http://tap-repeatedly.com/2011/06/exclusive-interview-arenanets-jon-peters-and-jonathan-sharp/
From an spvp persperctive- you go either glass cannon or bunker, and if another class does the glass cannon better than yours, you have to go bunker or risk becoming an easy kill. No one likes to die continuously.
I have stayed pretty positive so far with anticipation of the upcoming patch, I just hope the buffs we gain are more than the nerfs.
I wouldn’t mind some baby dragons for lower levels

Now THIS is an Engineer Shield ^.~

I love the pancake faced charr on the right If I ever make a third charr I would definitely give him that face, not enough charrs have it! (Too bad they didnt give the option to female charrs or I wouldve given it to her)
(Back on topic) Yeah a simple silver shield somehow looks engineerish too, especially if it has a gear drawn. That reminds me I use an iron legion shield once in a while I think it looks engineerish too
My guildy warned me that Engi was probably not the best class to learn the game on :P
“It would be shocking to me if the most common profession in the game after we ship is not the warrior, just because people like to have a sword and a shield and hit things with it. It isn’t incredibly important to us that every profession is equally as popular, it’s more important to us that they all cover different players’ desires.” – Jon on an interview a long time ago
The classes cover a variety of play styles, Engineer just happens to cover people who like pain when they play; the self cc, the rng, the lower damage, the hobo fashion and so on~
Edit: I play this class for the fashion, but yeah this class is probably not a good starter class, beginners would get frustrated a lot.
Ive thought about it but then I remembered not all our builds use boons. We still have..turrets lol
I always carry a everlasting princess doll tonic on my charr engie, just in case for those times that size is an issue.
I got more different types of tonics I just prefer the doll one for me charr :P
Then what would my Engineer be?
Shirtless
I just wouldn’t be playing it, I hate the thought of paying continuously to play a game so I would just stick to f2p games, non-mmo games or gw1. I did try a p2p game before (Rift) but I just couldn’t stick to paying monthly for it.
