Well on the bright side, after watching the sog again I saw they admitted our gadgets are useless. There may yet be hope for gadgets after all.
Is this confirmed for Engis? or just expecting this to happen?
He’s talking about the warrior trait they are getting, where they do an extra 3% damage per boon. So some of our minor traits end up hurting us if we take them.
He said we should use Tool Kit.
So basically they expect every Engineer to give up a utility slot and bring tool kit because they can’t be bothered to design the game with any intelligence.
Well they did give us a tool kit to fix the problems ourselves..those lazy devs >.>
But anyways, to bypass guardian bubbles and ele’s earth shield skill thing you could also try flamethrower. Flamethrower is a unique weapon, flame jet is not a projectile so it can bypass those defenses but it doesn’t count as a melee weapon either for skills like riposte
Yes…. shoot a guardian with your flamethrower. That should be fun to watch.
Ive done it before in spvp while playing a flamethrower build, its how I personally found out about it. I think we were both surprised when he went down :P

Also now that boon hate is coming into effect (warriors getting more damage against targets with buffs and thieves stealing the boons) I am curious into how much that is going to affect our builds since bunker, flamethrower, hgh builds rely heavily on it.
Incendiary powder: burns for 4 secs every ten secs.
What. The. Eff.
They were calling it Incendiary explosives but I think thats what they meant.
Thieves Mug trait can no longer crit but will have a ~2k heal attached to it.
Thief S/D Flanking Strike ability will have better tracking and have a second ability attached to it. The second ability will steal several boons from the target (with duration and stack).
If that’s the case thats actually pretty kitten good O.o
This month’s patch theme is nerfs to every class, except warriors who got some awesome buffs (grats to them btw). Also what were the changes to thieves, I missed that one
I’m pretty sure I heard the patch was today O.o
Ostrich is right, but still I can’t help but fear for the worst in terms of nades. The potential nerfs are sounding pretty scary there, knowing their track record.
On the other hand, it’d be nice to see bomb kit being more viable in PvP.
Yeah it is sounding bad but we’ll see. Hopefully we get some more buffs they forgot to mention. Though combo field makes healing turret interesting.
(edited by Penguin.5197)
EVERYONE CHILL THE kitten OUT!
Don’t start with the hyperbole again, please.
We have no idea outside, of what they’ve already said they’ll change, what’s going to happen.
They’re just my initial impressions but so far nothing really good from what they have said.
But more importantly have they said anything about engies yet?
Edit:
Healing turret: instant heal nerf. Passive/overcharge more stronger. Overcharge drops waterfield now, reduced cd on it. Apply healings in an area.
Incendiary powder: burns for 4 secs every ten secs. Chance up to 100%
Elixir s: No longer able to use utility skills in it.
“we want engineers to have more viable builds”
*starts nerfing random skills *
(edited by Penguin.5197)
Judging the last month’s worth of sour grapes, I’d say it’s been “that time of the month” around here since March 26th.
I see what you did there
All I want for April..is for mortar to be reworked. If nothing else is touched at all, just that skill, I’ll be satisfied.
And a rework on scope~
Engi community is bitter as kitten.
Lol can you blame those who are? If a build was ever thought of as strong by any other class it gets nerfed. Although no dev has ever agreed hgh they are strong, we just assume its coming cause heck thats what history shows.
On the bright side, you might end up getting your wish soon cube. If hgh does get nerfed, I don’t think there is any other of our builds (other thank just going bunker) that can be considered truly op. So once that happens no one will be sharing op builds anymore
btw pointing out in advance viable is not the same as op.
Supply crate is awesome, the only bad thing about it is that throwing a box at someone counts as your elite.
Elixir X, some people may find it use able but I don’t think it could ever replace my supply crate.
As for mortar..ugh, for every thing it gets right, it does four other things wrong.

I’ll say the bug forums
You guys got it good with speed right now… speedy kits is a guaranteed 100% uptime on swiftness which is 33% movement speed. Better than other classes 25% movement speed increase
you’re forgetting those classes not only have 25% on traits but also usually have another 25% on signets wich makes them have 100% uptime 33% without swiftness and all the while giving them extra speed during combat wich you ll lose once in combat . enter combat and use slick shoes’s tool belt skill and you ll see how fast they really run 100% of the time during combat and then laugh at your swiftness.
Not to mention all those gap closers/openers that engies severely lack. Its very tough to chase someone down even at full swiftness when they are using those skills to move away quicker.
This is what really gets me.
Haha I know right. Figured our cc would be enough to balance it out.
“No worries they won’t escape from me I got net shot!” * Net flies slower than a crippled engie* Ehh they got away.
“No worries they won’t escape from me I got glue shot!” * glue flies slower than net shot* Ehh they got away.

Power Shoes – Inventions VIII – 25% Faster Movement speed in Combat
Leg Mods – Tools X – Move 10% Faster while using an unarmed kit.
I’m not even sure why leg mods even exists, its so pathetic. Only a 10% increase that gets overwritten by any other speed boost? And only when you have grenade/bomb/med kit on??
It hurts to just think about it >.<
The 10% movement increases in other classes were brought up to 25% but ours stayed the same wth >.>
(edited by Penguin.5197)
Well we got power shoes, I would just like it to work out of combat as well though.
That’s a warrior on the picture
and the truth about engineer:..
Engineer’s is an outcast of society whom at some point in their life joined the amry where they learnt about explosives to compensate for their weak physical body due to malnutrition he suffered from his days as a hobo. After the army he went back to his home town where he became the plumber at the local high-school. One faithful day as he was fixing the sink of the 711, the clumsy Engineer knocked over a bunch of beakers and came across energy drinks, which he named elixirs.
Even tho the engineer wasn’t very smart, after the accidental creation of elixirs, the engineer became confident that he had some sort of talent, so he quit his job, and put his toolkit to work on something else than sinks, creating variety of gadgets & turrets, which even after 9 months, they continue to be work in progress..
The End
this is the real lore, that was suppose to be up on the website.
There that makes more sense~
(edited by Penguin.5197)
None of the skills make any sense so the way they use their guns doesn’t have to make sense either. Net shot? Rifle to blunderbuss? Static shot? Poison volley? Glue Shot? Blowtorch?
Yeah animations for a gun are the least of your concerns.
It doesnt have to make sense? In that case I want the full pelvic thrust every time I fire
Well if it makes you feel any better we didn’t always fire from the hip.
Actually no, that also makes me feel a lot worse lol
I use rocket boots for 3 reasons actually:
1. as an Asura elixir S bugs the hell out of my camera, stopped using that
2. Rocket Kick does great damage and has a short cooldown, it’s (melee) aoe as well.
3. Rocket boots moves me away from my stunnerthese 3 reasons include one other bug, and are no excuse not to change Rocket Boots!
Well thats what I get for generalizing, someone would speak up lol but its still safe to say most people find it pretty bad.
1. Fixing a bug not part of the utility itself but can still see why asuras need it.
2. Yeah the burn is great, I don’t have a problem with rocket kick, just the boots.
3. The stunner can catch up to you while you are still getting back up, making the escape not all that useful.
I love the toolbelt, as seras mentions above.
but the boots itself are only good for 1 thing: they move you out of harms way when you get stunned.
You can’t fight back, but at least they haven’t got you in melee range anymore…I have NO clue why this skill needs the self-knockdown… really don’t.
My guess is that rocket boots is our blink, or rtl. Except that since according to them engies aren’t suppose to have high mobility they threw in a hinder to our skill to balance it out.
Now that I think about it, maybe jump shot+ rifled barrels isn’t a bug, maybe it was designed that way O.o
That’s the only logical reason I can think of. But of course like this it is so pointless its not ever used seriously.
(edited by Penguin.5197)
Well any engie can always you know..server visit for a day, unless you mean its purely for av engies
In pve, for my accessories I have been using celestial; since I carry lots of different types of armors, celestial accessories still compliment me no matter what I use plus engies en up using all stats. And having overall slightly higher stats doesn’t hurt either.
Utility skills (and skills in general) are there to give you the advantage over the enemy when fighting. Rocket boots does the opposite.
The bad thing is that our top Engineers confirm that we are overpowered.
:(
Its not overpowered unless a good engie is using it, your average engie won’t be able to get much out of it.
I love how paranoid of Arenanet we are now that at any sign of engineer strength we just start theorizing how it is going to get hit.
*Not to say its wrong though it can be spot on *
(edited by Penguin.5197)
Also they do not fire as fast, or fire at enemies as a matter of fact… they tend to get distracted and shoot at rocks..
1. I hate rocks, so it works our for me.
2. Also that one-shot mine looks awesome, wish I had it.
3. Her rifle shoots slower but it sounds waaaay better and looks like it actually does damage at range. I want it.
You’ll fix this but you wont fix mortar themselves? >.>
Is it a boon that people can remove from you? Just curious.
nope.
No I do not want trinity classes, gw2 is awesome the way it is.
That’s really all I have to say when others have already said why, so no, just no.
I agree with the more mobile part, I was just trying out warrior in spvp to see what all the complaining was and well.. wow they do need some help.
It may be cause I don’t play warrior often but those mes can run circles around me when Im on war
I don’t think it will be nerfed because boons are part of how engie is suppose to play. If boons are part of the class description I think its alright if we can reach the 25 stack limit, as opposed to say, thieves, who if somehow happen to get 20+ stacks of might on their own then we would have a problem.
It’s something we’re absolutely aware of and want to address in the future, one of my main characters is an engineer so I feel ya on this one. My poor quaggan backpack is visible like 2% of the time I play as I kit swap, never mind my weapon skins.
We’re currently focusing our engineering (programmers, not guys with net guns) resources that could work on solutions to issues like kits/skins on major systems that address issues higher priority and wider reaching like lag in large battles, LFG, custom arenas, spectator mode and so on but this issue is absolutely on our radar.
As always, please post your ideas of what you’d like to see solution wise, we love to see the fun ideas y’all come up with too!
For the backpack problem, I would say have the option to let your backpack stay the same whenever you switch kits. A flamethrower attached to pink quaggan canisters? Yes please
As for legendary weapons, special kit effects would be very awesome.
Glass cannon
and bunker
There is no middle ground
Well there is truth in his words, I can’t believe I have played for so long without spinning cogwheel shields
Quitting over a lack of spinning cogwheel shields? Well thats a first.
Either net turret or rocket turret. Net turret because it is great utility and can be used in many situations. Rocket turret because that overcharged will ruin a person’s day.
Tbh the new flavor of the month is engies.
-IN before it was cool on my engy-.
Too late
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/engineer/The-age-of-the-engineer/first#post1804143
Hmm? I thought it was being run with Carrion, not rabid. I have only watched Teldo play engy though, so I can’t really speak from an area of knowing anything about it.
Edit: whoops, meant rampagers.
It can be run with rampager’s as well, but it’s not a great choice because you actually lose over 200 condition damage in addition to then having base toughness. So the extra couple hundred power and precision is cool but just not worth it unless you plan on never getting hit. Teldo can do that because he’s Teldo.
It’s the exact reason why, even though I find his streams entertaining, I can’t stand the builds he uses lol. They are very specific and somehow work for him very well though.
ahaha. I used to watch his stream a long time ago. I think he ran bomb kit and flamethrower back in the day when elixir R on reset with bomb/nade was just ridiculous.
I kittening hate his builds so much but he just plays so well he overcomes it. He’s kitten good.
I hate HGH p/p condition burst as an engineer as well.
It simply doesn’t feel like an engineer at all, drinking energy drinks all day and compiling code. Where are the mechanics, the thingamagicks?.Working. As. Intended.
Our elixirs just happen to come from the software engineer in us
Yeah like Astral said, we’ll get more titles with expansion and holiday events.
p.s. I keep misreading titles with the human body part >.>
(edited by Penguin.5197)
Though the word unique is obvious to most people that play mmos, that does not mean it is obvious to everyone.
Imo the word should be replaced with a sentence saying you can only have one ring of that certain kind attached to a character at a time, just to make it clear for them.
One thing I can’t get my head around after trying a turret build is why the cooldowns are so long. I understand the overload cooldowns, but an engineer is pretty strongly crippling himself by using all turrets and having a lot less tools for survival. I enjoyed the turret build when I could actually put them out but find if I’m ever needing to move I’m incredibly weak without them and not noticing that I’m immensely strong with them.
Seems to me they should be on a lot shorter cooldown because without them on a pure turret build you may as well run.
Alternatively, some of our turret toolbelt skills can get the same treatment our turrets got this previous patch and give them extra effects. Our pocket rocket skill? Now also causes burn and isn’t so lame after all. Shockwave? Now also aoe cripples. (Knock back may be a bit too much)
