Getting dungeon armor isn’t that hard I think and fotm is optional. The only point I agree with is the weapon tickets part. No one likes rng.

What drew me in to the class were probably the turrets and flamethrower. What keeps me going though is all the new ways I can play my engies everytime I complete a new set for them. Engies to me are in a spot right now where they have plenty of decent builds to try from and its fun finding them.

Curently Im playing turrets with pure settlers armor and undead runes (make the most out of toughness). Let me say I am pretty much unkillable, while being able to heal and support my fa’ers. The best part is even in small skirmishes I still got enough dps to kill people thanks to the fact that turrets have set damage but still scale with condition.

I just meant, FA wasn’t really responding cuz we all watched E3 streams, standing in one place haha.
And somebody told us that “Oh no they are garrison.”
And we said: “Tell them, we are watching E3. go away”

Lmao We were all busy watching microsoft shoot itself in the knee. Though that new game from respawn seems pretty fun, I mean you cant go wrong with adding mechs to a game

If futured events still have rng chests...

Penguin.5197

Why?
If I go out and by a lottery ticket in real life I have no idea about my chances of winning the jackpot.

As for “getting anything good” that is rather personal don’t you think?
I have opened LOADS of BLCs and in 95% of the cases I have gotten useful stuff out of them, even if they did not contain a skin or such.

On the contrary, you do know if you read the back of the lottery ticket. Plus I’m not talking about blc chests. I’m talking more about future event chests. Most people did not buy southsun crates for the passion fruits in them, they went looking for those certain skins. Look at all the posts about people thinking if they spend enough they would surely get it then get bummed out afterwards when they don’t get jack. It would surely help them from overspending if they knew the drop rate for items.

If futured events still have rng chests...

in Living World

Posted by: Penguin.5197

Penguin.5197

Yeah because usually it is an embarrassingly low number of getting anything good. Still, it does feel as we should be able to know considering real money can be spend here.

Then I would like to know the percent chance of getting that weapon skin ticket/mini pet/etc. Its kinda obvious by now that rng chests are here to stay despite the immense hate on forums, so why not at least tell us what our odds are for getting those items we want? Like hell if I’ll ever play some rng with real money again if I cant even tell how bad those odds are stacked against me, not even for penguin skins. Not showing the odds of getting an item seems a little more than fishy to me.

So many lemongrass threads explaining the difference between pizza and lemongrass and you are still asking this?

The problem is that Sorrow’s Embrace medium armors are utter crap compared to their heavy and light variants. Very difficult to do anything steampunkish. Only thing close I could ever do was a royal guard variant of it on a Dishonored style.

The best piece of the Sorrow’s Embrace set, IMHO, is the shoulders.

I can’t say for sure how significant the change would be. Oh also I forgot to mention that berserkers is the highest damaging set at the moment, it would probably be a better choice than rampagers.

What Type of Gear/Runes Do You Use?

in Engineer

Posted by: Penguin.5197

Penguin.5197

Its generally agreed that power sets work better with flamethrower than condition damage, as burning is basically the flamethrowers only source of condition damage (Not counting traits that give bleed etc) so I would choose something that gives power too. If it was me I would take berserker or rampagers but if you can’t survive take a knights set.

As for runes, since you seem to focus on hgh you could try using the runes that give more boon duration to get 25 stacks going, so that would include 2x Rune of Water and 2x Rune of monk + whatever other two runes you want or 2x rune of water or monk and 4x rune of altruism.

This is just on my understanding that all you just wanna do is damage.

It has recently come to my attention that having 3+ rangers together in a party can summon Lunar Wolf by all using the same skill at the same time (https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/ranger/LET-US-TAME-LUNAR-WOLF). Why not expand this idea for other classes? For example, having 5 engies on the same party drop rifle turret at the same time which summons…Lunar Turret! It shall be a turret that hovers over the party shooting at enemies that come close by. Here is an artists representation of what the turret should look like.

But the discussion was already there a few hundred times… Just do some search on the forum and revive a thread.
There you can already find people saying that engi damage is op because of their 25 might stacks and others who say they´re easy to counter because of grenades travel time and projectile reflects and their lack of stability.

Yes there is one already and he had posted in it. He just felt the need to have multiple threads about it.

There are condition engineers around, but on pvp its just harder to kill with considering how relatively easy it is to remove conditions and that bowl of lemon grass exists in wvw effectively cutting your condition damage by half. Plus you effectively lower your dps when there are more than one condition damage user in a party.

Sure, stealth is a nuisance…in hot-joins. You know, where nobody gives a rat’s kitten about capturing points.

Any Thief using Stealth extensively in a tournament team is contributing nothing and should be kicked. The mechanic prevents you interacting with the main objective of the kittening game.

Sounds like an easy fix then. Replace traits that reward you for being stealthed with traits that reward you for being unstealthed/ general survival traits and everyone wins! Less stealth and thieves get to interact with the main objective! Yay!!

Tigirius is hoping for more methods of speed so that we are not always locked into speedy kits, one example can be making power shoes 25% all the time.

Also as far as Im concerned, we dont have a leap until jump shots delay with rifled barrels is fixed.

Wouldn’t that be OP? Other classes either get DC on their speed boosts or they have to waste a utility slot for it.
Other classes have their leaps messed up too (example: guardian GS leap. Supposed to land on the thing that you’re targeting, but it loves to over-jump it and throw you off a cliff)

Well for power shoes, how would it be op if power shoes is basically the same as speedy kits in that you have to trait it in, with the difference that traiting in power shoes instead of speedy kits would actually make you slower.

I guess its true that we aren’t the only ones suffering from bugged leaps though

Seriously? People are saying that Engineers are too fast? (And the above poster is a Thief too, which makes it even more silly)

Have you even played an Engineer?

Edit: Yes you can have permanent swiftness. Find me any kind of teleporting ability.

Read up bud, guy clearly says “speed boost”. Also I didn’t know that the class that is meant to hold a point was supposed to have a teleporting ability. If you needed long range leaps then I could name you a few but those aren’t speed boosts. Also I bet you would rather ignore leaps just b/c they aren’t teleports. Your complaints are just as valid for engis as mine would be if I asked for a thief to get the cc lockdown capabilities of an engi or warrior. Just dumb that you’re trying to fight to give a stationary class extra mobility because they only have perma swiftness, 1500 range, best conditions in the game, and a good selection of leaps and launches with potentially the best cc in the game.

I have an 80 engi btw. Clearly you aren’t arguing that engis don’t have perma swiftness. How then, I ask you, would you suggest giving them a “speed boost” since swiftness isn’t swift enough for you?

Tigirius is hoping for more methods of speed so that we are not always locked into speedy kits, one example can be making power shoes 25% all the time.

Also as far as Im concerned, we dont have a leap until jump shots delay with rifled barrels is fixed.

Net shot should travel faster

in Engineer

Penguin.5197

They’d have to give it a long cooldown in that case or it would be OP, IMO.

Depends on how much they would increase it by, but I’m sure they can make it faster without making it op since net shot can’t even be considered reliable as it is.

Net shot should travel faster

in Engineer

Penguin.5197

You have a point. However, using Supply Crate (1200 range I think) at the right time can enable you to get a hit with Net Shot. It is somewhat hard to do though.

Probably but we shouldn’t be relying on an elite just to be able to land it

Net shot should travel faster

in Engineer

Posted by: Penguin.5197

Penguin.5197

Thanks to its super slow speed, it has a very high chance to miss and usually becomes obstructed for seemingly no reason. I get it has slow speed to give the enemy a chance to escape but this is too slow for a game where you can instantly shadowstep/teleport/leap over a distance of over 900 in a second. It goes so slow that it will not reach someone running away with swiftness if they were already at around 700 distance units away from you. I feel there is some unbalance in this regard, and I ask you take a second look at net shot.

Supply Crate, aka the Movable Fortress

in Engineer

Posted by: Penguin.5197

Penguin.5197

It’s arguably the best 1v1 elite in the entire game. Its effect becomes substantially reduced when used in larger fights or in fights with large amounts of AoE. Cleave down the turrets in small scale. If you can’t cleave down the turrets, run.

To nitpick a bit, the best 1v1 elite is Moa Morph.

Still, I do have to reflect the sentiment that everyone else has about the Supply Crate, but in list form. Cuz I’m weird like that.

*It’s a quick AoE stun and has good healing and control. In condition builds the burn is pretty good, too.
*It’s effect diminishes quickly if it is not a 1v1 scenario.
*They are vulnerable to AoEs.
*They don’t have the best AI. Mesmers and minion necros will mess you up.
*The supply crate gets a whole lot better with turret increasing traits.
*It is best in sPVP. In WvW people just run away, in PVE enemies are either too weak or they’re strong enough to bowl them over effortlessly.

So it has its place. In PVE and WvW on the engi I mostly use the Hounds of Balthazar as my elite. It’s similar in that it does burning damage, but the hounds chase people down and do more direct damage.

In sPVP I love it, though. I run a turret build, and for me the supply crate is useful as either a backup set when they’re all on cooldown, or if I’m fighting someone really good they’re basically round two for my opponents.

Moa morph is also the best 2v2. That plus an immobilize will make anyone a sitting duck :S No skills no running away no anything (Its happened to me before >.<)

Supply Crate, aka the Movable Fortress

in Engineer

Posted by: Penguin.5197

Penguin.5197

Supply crate is good on its own and can turn fights around, as elites should, but not anywhere near op. Next time you get the chance ask if supply crate was traited that can probably be the reason why it feels strong when used against you. Cause there is a grandmaster trait that makes them pretty sweet, but it takes up the grandmaster slot to use.

Best Engineer 1v1 Build?

in Engineer

Penguin.5197

I think for the most part, turret builds are our best builds 1v1 using at least net turret for area control and rifle turret for damage. The only problems with them is if your opponent has minions.
