Overall, condition damage was worse than power damage until recently, when necros got their condition boost. Other classes are either bad at condition damage or just overall balanced so if you added a boon that was against condition (or gave it to protection) All you would do is hinder any viability in ele, thiefs, mesmers condition builds and so on.

I have no doubt that if more protection boons were created, all it would do is push the meta into bunker builds again and people would just complain about that after.

Who would have figured that someone would be asking for a nerf to something that counters their current fotm build. I think miriforst said it best (The same way there are builds power can’t kill at all there are builds condi can’t kill at all or have a very tough time doing it) but BlackBeard’s advice is good too. Just build a little power instead of going full condi.

Would it be possible to build bomber around lyssa? for zerglings

I know it works with alchemy linebut havent checked with food. Itll probably be cheaper to convert gold to gems to buy some fine t.stones and transmute the karma armor runes on what you want. Also I never really played with bombs that much so cant say for sure.

While wearing runes of lyssa: Supply crate followed by blunderbuss then overcharged shot (stability is still up) then hit em with jump shot while theyre still on ground. Its a long beautiful combo if they dont stunbreak~

I can live without the stunbreak but what killed it for me was adding cast time to it. ughhhhhhh. That cast time is pointless and completely unnecessary. By the time its finished Im already hit by what I was hoping to dodge.

If the cap increased that would mean more skill points to spend and the creation of unintended op builds. Trait and build balancing would have to start all over from scratch and take into account what builds are possible then….which could take another year of balancing

From what I remember, pre-patch you could still overcome automated response by having condition duration higher than +100% so I figured they left this out of patch since it was just a rewording of what it did.

But if the mechanics did change I would sure like to know.

No it would literally say “Immune” in red above their head on enemies who had this trait active.

Yes I know it would but it was till possible to bypass with some conditions that necros could stack up to 110% with.
But does it still say immune now or not anymore though?

I figured if the trait was indeed overpowered, by now there should be a flood of necro threads complaining about it. Almost all I’m seeing here is a back and forth conversation between the op, who amusingly enough happens to be an engie against others.

Like I said before, you can still die by conditions even with it. And if someone decided to go healing/vit/condition dmg with this trait and act as a condi bunker then so what about it? Counter builds are part of the game and if anything having more condi bunkers will can help balance the game in a condition meta. Condition builds will have a hard time against the condi bunkers and we will need to see more power builds.

But of course there is no point in trying to convince some people so thats as much as Ill write in this thread before I keep bumping it more.

I run this trait but never got to test it in a 1v1 situation against condition builds until today. I figured if I ever get low on health, the trait will save me everytime, but necro got me on first and third duel. From experience its not an auto youcantkillmenow trait, by the time my conditions already build on me stop ticking im left at around 5-10% health where even a few autoattacks can drop me. This trait shines best if you can fight at less than 25% health without dying but that is tougher than it sounds.

It’s extra funny because I created a thief about 3 months in when I was tired of getting facerolled by thieves on my ranger. I named him “Tired of OP”, and now it’s a bit of a laugh now.

(It just uses settlers stats but you probably can get by on apothecary)

Quick rundown:

The basics of this build is based on achieving a high defense then converting it to condition damage through undead runes and tuning crystals. Once you got your sigils stacked too, the condition damage should raise to around 1677 (Note Im still using only exotics), which combined with our pistols can make some good damage. I used to try putting more trait points in inventions but felt vulnerable to conditions through extensive testing so I switched those to alchemy and picked up automated response.

Rocket boots and slick shoes for mobility, plus rocket boots combos well with regenerating mists for extra heals. Tool kit has multi purpose uses, throw down some caltrops if glue shots, superspeed and rocket shoes aren’t enough. Or pull enemies close to the p/p range etc.

I have had some fun times with this build in wvw, and I got comfort in knowing I can safely roam with speed and defense while still being able to kill stuff. Settler’s trinkets can’t come soon enough to push this build to the max.

You could try something else. Like, wearing a full set of Flame Legion armor. Spiritually more nub-ish than a set of leather armor.

Against most thieves, its not about having high vitality, its about having high toughness. Ever since I started carrying a little over 1900 toughness, thieves just cant kill me anymore alone. Do deal with stealth thieves I usually like to start by dropping box of nails then block against the inevitable burst attempt. If I get hit before I block its not really a problem sice my protection injection kicks in and I can heal back to full right after. Engies have plenty of traits that help them from getting burst so thats not a problem.
Afterward comes my offensive doing 2-4 on p/p before they stealth again. Run away for a second or two and land a glue shot behind you. Theres a good chance you might see a revealed thief by then and proceed to pummel with supply crate and what not.

Thats usually how my encounters go.

lol The jealousy is strong in this thread. Its only 600 distance plus roll so its way shorter and the super jump (about double distance) needs two skills and is on a 40 sec cd.

But I still feel for you eles, someday you will have more viable builds….someday.

Ive been tracking this event for like about 2 weeks now on gw2stuff..the closest I got to it was off by 20 min but by then all the kitten settlements were contested. Hell I even tried to do it with my guild but the settlements would be contested faster than we could clear. And all for a freaking settlers pistol.

I was at cdbl killing yaks that ran from stargrove south but I don’t think I had ever seen a yak so actively defended before lol Were about 5-6 people defending yaks as they crossed there. Still we managed to kill a few of them and only saw one get away. My guildiedied but some thief chased me too far and I got him. Was fun overall

It is a pretty bad grandmaster trait, I find it hard to have a reason to take it at all. Maybe as a master trait but I think the grandmaster slot should be for something better.

If you take a lot of burning skills the skills will just overlap with each other not really adding damage since burning stacks duration. And all it takes is a single cleansing to null the burning.

And if you take only one or two sources of burning the skill is just going to waste.

Im just laughing that they keep breaking turrets one way or another. At least the trait fix for turrets was sorta quick, lets see how long this fix takes.

I got a good amount of toughness and hp, if I remember correctly, I can push my condition dmg to around 1700-1800 with this and and am able to kill pesky thieves and other non bunkers without too much trouble using p/p, rocket boots, oil slick and magnet shield. Its worked well for me so far.

More removal? There has already been a boat load of it since forever. Sure I can shoot bleed/poison/burning etc on you but after you remove it Its not like I can instantly reapply it all again, we have cooldowns too you know.

And to op, conditions havent changed for engie, why complain about them now? Seems to me people aren’t used to having necros be competitive.

Its not that they nerfed corrupt boon. Its that they didn’t make the same changes to condition clears such as contemplation of purity. CB now only removes 5 boons. Contemplation of purity and other such condition clears still clears all conditions. This is not consistent and gives condition clears way more value than boon removal.

On the contrary my elixir c has been only converting 5 conditions max for a while now, I wouldnt be surprised if other clears have that limit too.

Ha im runnin something very similar to this except with settlers prefix instead and have ten more points in alchemy compared to your explosives. The build can take a lot of punishment from physical attacks but remained a litle vulnerable to conditions, which I figured automated response can help with.

False, if you want to fight underwater play a ranger. People think mesmers can stack bleeds? That’s cute.

I dont think ive ever lost a 1v1 underwater, I spread my turrets apart and all over the place, makes it really hard to destroy them plus most people cant handle fighting vertically too.

It’s about time they figured out a way to erase some of the ugly off a char. :P I like it more than I thought I would. It’s hard to tell from the angle of the face but does they eye piece go all the way around or is it more like a monocle?

LoL. u should eat a 7k+ life blast with 100% crit chance on my troll zerker build.

here is how I was rolling last night. thief opens on me, I’m glassy, so I go into DS, DS3, DS2, DS5. dead thief. when you channel your 5 skill, you can fire life blast. if thief stealths, press DS4. another 7k+ damage right there.

Condition necros are not op. power necros are. 50% crit in DS trait needs nerfed, but I am going to abuse it for as long as I can.

30/10/0/0/30 for life! thinking about dropping fire on crit though. unreal for power builds, but no one survives long enough for it to matter. I end upngeeting less than 1500 damage from it.

talking roaming/small group in wvw. I have no idea about spvp.

Lol I love it. All this time zerker thieves have forced other classes out of zerker builds and been forced to take toughness or get insta gibbed. Now necros get to do the same to thieves. Balance in the universe has been restored.

Btw I dont think necros are op atm, without speed or stealth they need that survivability. grats on all the buffs

It’s worth noting that using Rocket boots when inflicted with Torment tends to kills you faster. Personally tested with cooperation from a guildie who mains a cond necro.

From what I understand from reading the wiki is that you take twice more damage per second as long as you are moving, not based on distance traveled. So wether you run or use rocket boots you would still take the same damage

Yes they do. Other pulls like magnet pull and magnet bomb have a pretty long cast time.
