Hm maybe I was lagging or something but the guy was attacking me. He used dagger storm but then stopped spinning which cued me to unload my “Sneak Attack” (Thief pistol stealth skill ) I inflicted 12 stacks of bleed on myself before i realized he was still reflecting projectiles even though he was not spinning :/.then I got backstabbed.
was roaming borderlands when I come across a thief that used dagger storm. That’s fine and dandy but….
he was somehow able to cancel the animation yet retain his stability and projectile reflection while using his other skills. Anybody else encounter this glitch?

Let’s do this Anet! You’ve already gotten rid of siege weaponry in the JP. Why not go the full step and finally rid Portal from the jumping puzzle once and for all?
I’m sure the devs never wanted whole zergs getting free siege without any effort input. I think it would be a simple yet meaningful fix to the JP.
I am done with sword. It is hands down unusable at later levels in the game where one needs to readily dodge etc.
Seriously, can you fix this rooting problem? Can we at least get an update from the devs or some acknowledgment that they are working on this?
EDIT: Some people think I was serious about the title. Let’s get this straight, I don’t actually want Anet to delete the sword. I love Ranger sword. It just frustrates me how the weapon currrently works. I am not sure if they intended it to work that way or if it’s a bug. A dev response would be nice.

No. Get rid of them. Having a cooldown doesn’t matter when an item gives you access to conditions and such that you wouldn’t normally have. There’s a reason this game has a heavy restriction on how many utility abilities you can slot. Putting longer cooldowns on consumable items just makes them part of an item rotation. It’ll get to the point where you’re not fighting a profession, you’re fighting a hideous amalgamation of items that are being tossed at you.
Keep in mind this is WvW not sPVP. Having a couple more conditions beyond your profession high isn’t much a huge problem, it will however add more diversity (and fun). Also, keep in mind that most people won’t bother using consumables. You exaggerate far too much when you say “It’ll get to the point where you’re not fighting a profession, you’re fighting a hideous amalgamation of items that are being tossed at you.”

Consumable items/weapons in WvW. I am a big fan of them not only because they add spice to WvW but because they have much utility. I plead ANET to NOT REMOVE THEM FROM WvW BUT TO INSTEAD BALANCE THEM. Clearly, some of the skills that come with the items are overpowered. It is because most of these skills have little to no cooldown time and can be spammed that makes some overpowered. I am pleading for ANET to make the effort to balance them and not remove them. Unfortunately, Golem in a Box was removed during the last patch. I do not want that to happen with the others.
What exactly are these items, what can they do and why are some of them a problems? These items provide skill sets and moves beyond the player’s profession upon consuming them. Here are some examples.
Pirate Peg Leg/Plank

This item’s main skill is “Plank Buster” which gives the user a blowback cc to use on an enemy who unfortunate to be smacked by it. It has a CD of 4 seconds. Cooldown needs to be adjusted.
Gear

This item’s main attraction is “Throw” is has a range of 900, stuns and bounces up to five enemies. It has NO CD. Clearly overpowered as you can spam this and permastun enemies. CD needs to be adjusted.

This consumable is ESSENTIAL for running past campers in the EB JP. It provides lighting in the darkroom as you cannot obtain the normal torch during Mystic Fountain invisibility. However, it does give you a skill I’d consider OP because it has no CD. “Torch Strike” Stab the foe for a 10 second burn, no cooldown. Yes, I have stacked over 30 seconds of burn while spamming this on someone.
Clearly, these items need balancing. I am begging Anet to do so but not remove them from WvW.

Yes, I would really like this sort of mode to be implemented.
I found the most joy in PVP to be small scale skirmishes among small groups in WvW. However, those days are over now that my server has attracted many bandwagoners before the transfer fee. Now it’s just ZvZ and huge queue times.
As for this “arena mode” I wouldn’t care so much about being able to use our current gear but instead being able to play something other than conquest/domination (whatever you wanna call it). I do recall from somewhere that Anet is planning on adding custom matches in sPVP though, that’s good news.
I have done multiple, fast and easy dungeon runs with DPS oriented groups like this (Particularly AC and COF). It really is no wonder why everyone wants a warrior.
I’m guessing you play engineer or ranger? Nobody wants those for speed runs. Is this why you are overreacting and calling for nerfs?
If you have the money, you can just craft to 80 with a new character.

Last time I heard, the boon/condition bonuses part of this set wasn’t working.

I think that most of these guys that claim they can make a boatload of money in 15 mins exaggerate much.
I usually get around 6.5% return on the usual things I invest in which isn’t that much but it doesn’t take much time and effort.

I don’t think we’re talking about the same thing. OP isn’t talking about Lodestone prices. I feel as he’s talking about the inflation of gold in general.
The game just introduced a new gold tap into the game, without any significant gold sinks that I can think of. Naturally, gold will inflate. This isn’t in relation to just Lodestones, but in relation to the overall economy since you’re adding gold to the game (via selling junk to NPC vendors).
Of course it may very well be that this new tap is minor and won’t impact the economy in any significant way as well.
Ensign.2189 does have a point. The trading post fees are a gold sink. Lodestones will be traded, so there is an accompanying goldsink.
Thing is, it’s a gold sink that will reduce in effectiveness as Lodestone prices drop because ANET just increased their supply.So I just bought a couple of these boxes and turns out those evil inflation causing “Unidentifiable Objects” only sell for 1s each….
Multiply that by the number you get, then reevaluate your conclusion.
All my guildmates who dumped their karma into jewlery boxes earned at least 2 gold from the unidentifible objects.

Yeah, I made a whopping 3s selling the vendor junk you’re complaining about. Granted, I only bought about 3 of the boxes.
However, 2g from selling those? 2g is nothing. People get more in 20 minutes farming COF. The vendor junk from these boxes aren’t nearly contributing to the inflation as dungeons are.
No problems with dodge, in fact that was the first and easiest daily for me.

If you want to fight P/D thieves, simply use Superior Rune of Melandru + the – 40% Condition Duration Food.
This will drop Conditions by 65%, most P/D Thieves tend to stack Condition Duration for their bleeds, and I find that its really all their damage..So if you hit them with that, They tend to have trouble with with damage to finish you off.
At that point all it takes is for them to screw up at least once and you can kill them..however they could just simply run away from you and really nothing you can do.
-65% Condi duration won’t do much to counter most p/d. p/d bleed thief will stack Superior Runes of Afflicted, Krait and Centuar for a total of +45% bleed duration. They will also use Rare Veggie Pizzas which will further increase condi duration by 40%. Also, most of us will be using Superior Sigil of Agony +10% bleed duration.
A whopping total of +95% bleed duration.
Want another twist? I don’t even use the runes mentioned above (I use rune of the adventurer), nor foods often (cause im cheap) and I still see rangers as free kills.
I’ve actually ran into some very long duration bleed builds that are actually countered by the setup I run.
What i’m thinking is happening is you have the 95% bleed duration Bleed, and then it applies my 65% Reduction..Instead of just canceling it out like Rare Veggie vs the Condition Reduction one.
So if you manage to get your bleed up to say, 8 Seconds
I’ll reduce its duration by 65%
Which will end up turning your 8 second bleed into I believe 3 seconds.

What type of build do you use? Most rangers I come across and kill in wvw are kitten glass cannon longbow/shortbow spam. The ones I’ve had problems with stacked heal and were tanky but I would usually eventually kill them anyways.

I’m thinking that Condition Duration Reduction is more effective the more the person invests into Condition Duration.
I find that if I can keep the bleed stacks to around 3 stacks I can counter most of the damage of p/d Thieves with just my Health Regen.
Also remember I am Asura, so I have access to Pain Inverter.
Right, a regen build I’ve seen those in action and I even used it with my ranger in sPVP, so tanky.Yeah I would probably have a hard time killing you with p/d in wvw lol. Then again, most rangers don’t use this type of build which is good to know haha.
Oh yes, I do hope they fix sword root. I have killed myself twice now due to fighting enemies near the edge. Also, I find that I have to spam the dodge button to get it to respond when using sword.

I do these type of things sometimes just to screw people like you over.
Like last night, I put up around 300 out of my 2000 cotton bolts for around 1.59 s only to be undercut by a bunch of guys. It went all the way down to 1.51 s and stayed there. I’d break even at 1.44 s so I just put the rest at that price for for the heck of it, make those undercutters wait longer and so that anybody who’d undercut further would just be ripping themselves off. Needless to say, nobody made any more larger undercuts.
I play p/d bleed thief. I don’t ever remember ever losing a 1v1 with a ranger. The closest was when a ranger stacked cc with longbow and pet and tried to burst me but I do the usual Withdraw > Blinding Powder and avoid most of the burst.

Warrior in WvW is already bad enough. Warrior roaming? Yeah good luck with that. Best I can do is recommend the Yojack bleed build on the warrior forums.

They really don’t have any viable builds against other classes. Also, they keep getting nerfed and still have a lot of bugs.
