Let me get this straight. People are unhappy that their unskilled labor (’cause clicking the MF does not take any level/skill qualifications – a fresh minted toon can do it as well as an 80) took a largely junk commodity and turned a profit while fulfilling a demand for one of the most exclusive items in the game?
Seriously, if you’re too good for that profit, just let the people trying to make a Gift of Quicksilver do the work themselves. Now that they know how, the demand should basically evaporate.
This is why I want to see a “recycling” MF recipe for rare (yellow) crafting mats. The 40-to-1 price disparity between the loadstones says there’s a demand deep enought to see the less valued loadstones/cores/shards/whatever get converted at random in the hopes of hitting the desired types.
lol. Hey I didn’t mind the profit, I never implied I was “too good for it”. It’s just I would rather actually PLAY the game instead of click click, click click, click click for a chance at easy money. I’m sure this method of making easy money appeals to very many people. Take advantage of it while you can.
well guys I started off with about 1g and bought a bunch of talismans and pebbles with that. I used “mousethecats” method
After clicking and clicking for about 40 minutes I ended up selling my doublons to the highest bidder after listing them and being undercut so much.
Sold for about 1.8 G. (could have been higher if I didn’t list them)
So 80s profit in 40 minutes. Boring, I don’t think I’ll be doing this anymore.
Yeah, I don’t usually put stuff in the MF but most of the time when I put random armor or weapons, I get a focus.
I have only seen one hacker before. He/she was teleporting sporadically while my party tried to kill him. We thought it was lag at first but there was no way he could have teleported that often at that rate.
Did you check the combat log after you were one shotted?
Haha. It’s really stupid how some people here just attack others in JP and risk themselves failing and getting killed in JP rather then let both parties just get their free siege peacefully. They insist that the free siege that people get from JP really matters in WvW. They insist that wasting their time (and yours) attacking others in JP is as important as going around and doing something useful like taking supply camps. I lawl.
Camping in JP to troll is one thing, but camping on the illogical thinking that it actually helps your server in WvW?
I never attack another enemy in JP unless they attack me. If they do attack me, I usually just stealth away, leave a couple illusions and walk right on by. (I play mesmer and p/d theif)
Yeah I usually don’t bother attacking other players in there. Not like they can kill me anyways. (theif)
Well, haven’t seen one of these threads before. Kinda decent attempt at trolling, I guess.
^^^^This.
Please guys, don’t feed OP, the troll. I’ve seen enough of these type of threads when I roamed BF3 Battlelog forums.
Away/Looted yep…
did u not attend the event at all?
Sorry, I meant to say that I did not attend the Ancient Karka event. I still got a mail with a chest though. I did partake in the first part of the three day event though, maybe that’s why I got it?
EDIT: Sorrry, I mean Away/ Received Mailed.
I didn’t attend the last karka event but I got the mail with the chest.

5 thieves and you will never be overrun by a noob zerg.
So is it a bannable offense to bypass the invisible wall of reset and walk into the enemy spawn?
Put your hands on your face in shame and scream ‘NNOOOOOOOO!!!!!’. That’s it.
Haha. Honestly OP, that’s pretty much all you can do at the moment.
Maybe you should be more careful next time? Was the player’s name something like: Jbfuiafba?
There’s not much you can do about it now, lesson learned I guess. I doubt you’ll be banned for abusive reporting though.
Its fine really. You just need to play differently. One good example of a counter to these noob backstab thieves is p/d condition thief. I run that build, it kill almost everyone slowly but surely. The best part of it is that you have massive survivability with this build also.
I’d be willing to bet that we would see more QQ on thieves if this was a more popular playstyle. Good thing most people like to kill fast and be killed fast.
Well, I’m well aware of the invisible second wall that resets you. You can actually get past that wall by shadow stepping. Once you get past that wall you can walk right into there spawn (assuming you dodge the other sets of legendary defenders) and start trolling the enemy.
Although you cannot attack the enemy player (due to invincible buff) you can run around the spawn leading them on a wild goose chase. Best of all, you can kill the enemy NPC’s such as their Repair Man, Armor and Weapons dealer. It’s really funny. You can also use Scorpion Wire on the NPC while a player is talking to the NPC vendor and it will interrupt the conversation.
I did this a couple times to IOJ and I started wondering if Anet didn’t intend for enemy players to get past the invisible wall so I stopped in fear of being banned for exploitation. I wonder though, why bother having the legendary defenders in the spawn if Anet isn’t expecting enemy players to be in it? For the record, I’ve died numerous times from those guys compared to actual player mobs who chase me.
Like, actually go past the legendary defenders and get into the enemy spawn? Are you allowed to be there?
49 Thief – 55 hours, 176 deaths.
80 Mesmer – 349 hours, 793 deaths.
48 Warrior – 58 hours, 111 deaths.
If you’re used to playing easymode Warrior or Guardian, you’re gonna have a hell of a time with Mesmer pve.
Skill cap of this profession is easily higher than the others. Plus, with the recent nerfs (Illusions require LOS) Mesmer is harder now in pvp than before. However, it’s a very rewarding class. Leveling up might be a pain for some but once you reach 80 it’ll be great. We have awesome survivability and we are still an awesome duelist 1v1 class.
I wouldn’t mind spiking if it weren’t for zerg noobs being able to rez their fellow noob at a ridiculous rate in the middle of combat.
Actually, in the last patch, ANET made it impossible to get the username of an enemy WvW Invader via report.
I doubt you’d get in trouble for talking to them but I’m curious how they got your name to pm you.
Yeah, I always thought it was odd they didn’t have this in the first place. Heck, even gold sellers give people a bonus when they buy more haha.
Probably due to increased drop rates.
I remember ectos being low as 13 silver at one point. Right now I am saving them up for a mystic forge weapon but if ectos are going back down then I might as well shortsell them and buy them cheap later.
So do you think prices are going down or are they here to stay?
I only had ONE FRIEND. JUST ONE FRIEND TO INVITE AND HE WASN’T EVEN ABLE TO START UP THE GAME DUE TO GLITCHES.
smh. btw, he is on mac and he had an error telling him his hardware was unable to run the game.
I enjoyed that article. I put myself in “dedicated gamer” aswell.
It’s very possible to get Ruined Ore when you’re being attacked. It’s happened to me before when gathering Oric with an Oric pick. I know because I always immediately check what tool I have if I get any “ruined” material.
Oh yes. I love the log traps. The only thing you have to watch out for is people who eventually get ahead and people who use aoes.
I don’t mind grinding jumping puzzles =P. However I do agree that the drop rate from enemies is a little too low.
I’ve actually gotten a Destroyer Lodestone from a Heavy Miner’s Bag or something like that.
Sold it on TP for 1.8 G
Mesmer doing 100% map? This is blasphemy!
Joke aside, Anet probably didn’t take this into account in the first place. Non lvl 80 mesmers in wvw also have this problem.
I would think they are working on a fix right now.
In short, yes mesmer is the ultimate 1v1 dueling class. Every profession has it’s ups and downs. I’ve had my fair share of dueling bunker eles, your profession isn’t UP.
Before you start crying for nerfs I suggest you roll a mesmer and see how things really work on our side. IMO it requires a high skill cap but is incredibly rewarding in PVP.

I’ll add when I get the chance. I need to practice against thieves.
Gems cost a lot so I don’t want to buy them. I have gotten one from daily achievements though.
Is there any other way of getting one? I seem to have really bad luck with the daily achievements because I have only gotten 1 out of all the days I’ve played and I have heard of others who get it all the time.
The top of the top of the clocktower contains a hidden message, I think.

Awesome! I wonder how you got the text to be so clear, maybe my graphics settings were too high with all the fancy lighting and whatnot.
I absolutely enjoyed the puzzle. I never expected such a challenge from a Halloween event and I hope there will be more like it on the next holidays.

Yeah, it seems that most people would not bother to look for any hidden secrets after completing such a challenging puzzle. They would just be glad to get the chest and get the heck out of there! haha.
I could make a video of the bell but I do not have any recording software, any recommendations?
This was never really a problem for me. Maybe you should put this into the suggestions forum?
Did we not have another thread just like this one? Anyways, I did it a bunch of times for the ToT bags. I’ve got about 750 of em by now.

Okay everyone, I really wanted to figure it out on my own but I simply cannot translate this barely readable New Krytan text embossed on the bell of the Mad King’s Clocktower. I was able to decode certain characters in the message but not the whole thing.
You need to go up there and see it for yourself. I have a screenshot to prove it’s there but it will not be sufficient to translate the text. After reaching the top of the clock tower where the chest is, you can go a bit higher to the bell by jumping onto the exit door and then jumping towards the face of the clock (where a ledge is) WITH A SPEED BOON. The way to the bell will be self explanatory the rest of the way.
Oh, and this will help: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/New_Krytan
Good luck.

How did you not lose count? I lost count many runs ago, the only thing I have to show for it is 2 stacks of ToT bags.
Woah! I didn’t know you can get an Endless tonic from a tot bag. Excuse me but I have to go back to farming the Mad King’s Tower again. It’s a great place for ToT bags, if you’re good at it you can get 10-15 bags each run.

I just crafted a set of explorer armor after reading all the negativity about Mesmer not doing enough damage, not being able to tag mobs in DE’s etc.
I really don’t understand it all as I have absolutely no problem getting credit for DE’s and tagging mobs. Sword and Izerker never fail me. I usually get my fair share of loot. I don’t know why others can’t. Can anyone explain in detail?
For the last jump to be successful you have to jump after the clock is struck by lightning.
I suspect it’s a glitch or hardware issue slowing you down. Having farmed the puzzle many times, I’ve noticed that some people seem to start 1 or 2 seconds later than I do. I’ve never had a problem starting with a delay (besides the camera starting in awkward position every once in awhile), in fact I was almost always the first to start running.
Im using an i5-2320 with a Radeon HD 7750.
I seriously don’t understand why people find it so difficult. They keep blaming these “camera bugs” (which ive never experienced) or blaming other character sizes or sobbing over the fact that certain professions get a speed buff. They fail to focus on themselves and continue to blame others things.
It took me about an hour to beat the puzzle for the first time as a human mesmer, no speed buff. Yes I do realize that huge characters like norns and charrs make it slightly more difficult but geez, get used to it. Don’t expect things to be handed to you so easily. I love this puzzle. I come back to it to farm ToT bags.
I seriously doubt making all the character models the same or separating the races would make it any easier on the people who can’t beat it in the first place.

I couldn’t agree more, for the first time i felt challenged in guild wars 2, and the reward at the end was awesome for the difficulty of the puzzle.
This! Loved the challenge. I’m good enough at it now that I can farm ToT bags from it. I hope they add similar puzzles later.
I lost count. However, I got about 200+ ToT bags from farming the puzzle.
Human Mesmer, no speed boosts.
That is not a glitch, you were “reset” because you were too slow and by the time you landed on the platform the goo was already there.
I can assure you it isn’t a glitch. You were too slow upon arriving on the platform. I would know as I farm this puzzle for the tot bags.
I’m currently in Dragonbrand and Maguuma is full of campers in the jumping puzzle. Seriously, I remember playing Darkhaven and most of em were nice enough not to gang up on people in the jumping puzzle. Whenever I go to the jumping puzzle with a group we never attack solo’ers.
Had same problem, for me worked logging into game, then i could accept policy without error.
After trying out all other suggestions with no success, THIS was the one that worked for me.
Logged into the forums and displaying the EULA then logging into the game client then accepting EULA.
