Karma converting to Gold, what is the margin?

463g = 46300 silver / 1 million =0.046 silver per karma or 46 silver/1000 karma.

fixed that for you

and all of this assuming your time is worthless, because you like it or not, you cannot go from 1% to 100% world completion in under 10 seconds

The best return on karma is probably crafting a legendary and selling it.

you mean, spending 2000g to get 2500g? I think with 1 million karma, 240 skill points and 500 badges of honor I can get much more than 500g

Challenges. You are removing yourself to face the most hardest challenges for a player in GW2. The champion trains are ok but you will never face a true challenge, that will only happen in dungeons.

dungeons aren’t really challenging, maybe the 1st times when you are not sure what to do, but most of them are pretty easy with a decent group. just some of the running/skipping part can be frustrating at 1st, and then there’s Arah which is really the only ‘challenging’ dungeon.

the majority isn’t, and is usually used for farming gold, but since anet has a precedent of changing dungeons into harder versions, I’d say there is a possibility of seeing this changed. see for example the aetherblades path, even though the average player can do the aetherblades path in 5-10 minutes, it takes considerably more for not so average players.

You mean alpha testing or live testing?

you can call it whatever you want, I’m not testing stuff for free.

I reckon this April 15th patch will be so broken it will actually require at one point compensation to players, given anet’s history.

Sold ‘The Hunter’ after it dropped from the Karka Event back in November 2012. At the time, Legendary items were still ‘new’ and the debate over the value of their precursors was still going on.
I ended up selling it for 55 gold, which at the time was still a princely sum.
Since then, I have not seen any precursor drop, and have turned my focus/gold on to purchasing and collecting very rare/limited skins instead.
Hindsight … grrr.

but you know, everything costed way less back then, you don’t just look at nominal value, you must look at real value.

1.5 years ago a unidentified dye costed 5s to buy. Nowadays it costs 40s. With 1g you could buy 20 dyes whereas nowadays you can only buy 2.5 dyes with 1g

1g back then had almost 10 times the value of 1g currently.

or another solution is to just forget about the legendary, play the game as normal, and if you just so happen to gather 800g OR have a precursor drop, start going for the legendary, it takes around 1 month of semi hardcore dungeon running to get the 1000g required to make the gift of fortune+gift of legendary

Just for my info..why is having a legendary so important? Is it just the achievement? Is it the changeable stats? The looks?
As for the upper reasons, speaking for myself:
Achievement: I couldn’t care less
Changeable stats: Great…since it most of the time players choose to have assassin or berserker..and does it really hit that much harder then ascended/exotic?
Looks: I have greenies with better looks then the legendaries..but thats a matter of taste

So again..why is this so important?

human achievement is always relative to what others have acheived, also known as “bragging rights”

If everyone had a legendary, nobody would be making one. I reckon only 1% of the playerbase has a legendary, and that’s why people find it so important to have one, it’s the prestige, it’s the exclusivity.

I guess that 1% playerbase is in my guild…LOL

1% of 2 million players is around 20,000 players.

Legendaries Now

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Pie Flavor.1647

Pie Flavor.1647

were it not because I went for a legendary, I would’ve lost interest in GW2 a loong time ago.

There just isn’t anything else compelling for me to do in GW2, during the course of legendary crafting, I learned just soo much about the game, that I would otherwise have never bothered to learn.

Crafting a legendary is not an easy task, and not everyone has the perseverance or the income to do it (believe it or not, not everyone who has a legendary had $500 disposable income to throw at the game), and that’s what makes it so much more valuable.

Whenever I hear “lol twilight is ugly” or “lol everyone has a twilight” or “legendaries take no skill, there’s nothing legendary about it”, all I see is someone bitter because they can’t have what I have, and that just gives much more value to what I have, even if nobody is ever going to admit that.

So what do you think of real life shops that sell older items + extras then? You’re going to complain to a car dealer where you bought your car a year ago that you want the free leather seats the guy that bought the same (now older model) car today for free?

what kind of fail analogy is that? my ISP increases my fiber speed by 20 Mbps since they’re doing a promotion for new customers and thus they compensate old customers. Why not use that analogy? it’s only fair. Oh I know, because it doesn’t help your argument.

Because Anet already HAS your money. Your ISP continues to receive your money long after that first payment. They have an incentive to “compensate” you, Anet never had one from the start.

read my next reply regarding FTL

Apples to oranges. You got precisely what you paid for. Do not expect to get more than you paid for just because those who buy the product now get more than you did back then. And to reiterate, Anet has absolutely no incentive to do anything about your request other than to point at the official response someone was kind enough to quote. One that basically says “you arent going to get the stuff that comes with the game now unless you buy the game again.”

fair enough, then I guess I shall relish to the very first comment I made on this thread (first reply aka second post)

I was just trying to say that you got what you paid for. You usually pay top price when something new comes out and later it will be on sale plus all kinds of free extras when it comes to videogames. I never saw the Sims company giving their customers the free Add-On pack to older customers that new customers got when they bought their Sims copy for half of the original price, for example.

FTL: Faster than Light, look it up google, is a game that recently launched a massive update and a new version of the game on the appstore for iPad, the entire stretch of the new content was given for free for previous owners of the game on the PC version.

This is what is called loyalty programs, because the more time you spent using the services and buying the products of the same company, usually translates into better treatment in form of either discounts, free stuff or in this case, retroactive compensation for new content.

How do the WvW ticket system work???

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Pie Flavor.1647

Pie Flavor.1647

I thought that more achievements = more tickets. Either way, kinda sucks for the ones that are in bad WvW servers

you get minimum 200 tickets, whether that’s enough or not for a mistforged hero weapon (the highest ticket cost item) depends on how the weapons system is implemented.

As of now we know that you can buy down a mistforged weapon for 300 tickets, you can buy a “hero’s weapon” for 100 tickets and a “gift of heroes” for 200 tickets AND/OR 250 badges.

If it was the case that a gift of heroes costs 200 tickets OR 250 badges, you would be able to get literally 5 mistforged weapons if your server scored first (that if we consider that you only need 1 gift of heroes to craft a mistforged weapon out of a hero’s weapon)

The most probable case, though, would be that a gift of heroes costs 250 badges AND 200 tickets, meaning that if you wanted to craft a mistforged weapon it would be 300 tickets anyways (200 for the gift, 100 for the hero’s weapon)

I still don’t see the point of splitting it into a hero’s weapon+gift when you can buy it directly for 300 tickets…

If you check the wiki, all of the rewards are account bound, so no trading here, you can get maximum 1 weapon per account so people will need to choose carefully.

The last thing I can think of is hero’s weapons being craftable/droppable outside of the WvW tourney, or the ability to create more gifts of heroes after the tounrament ends…

so if you want a headstart back to the “metagame” I recommend you spend a couple days doing nothing but farming the Edge of the Mists, in there, you can get tons and tons of badges of honor, which you can turn for a full set of exotic berserker armor.

Keep doing your dailies, if you have some laurels saved up, go to the Edge of the Mists laurel vendor and turn 20 laurels for an ascended berserker amulet. If you have more laurels, I recommend getting some rings, but if not, buy yourself the rest of the trinkets in exotic rarity berserker, buy around 5 embellished ruby orbs and put them into the trinkets (once you can afford all of this)

Finally, you need to get 6 runes of the scholar (quite pricey nowadays, around 20g total), and put them on the armor you acquired from badges of honor.

At this point you’re ready to go into dungeons.

If you are not talking about PvE, disregard this post – Other people will fill you in for other content.

For PvE, Hammer is a useless weapon. Low damage and the wrong support. If you enjoy Axe, that will be the best choice – believe it or not, the best builds do NOT use the GS so don’t feel like you need to use one.

Think link will redirect you to the build. Currently the best build to run for PvE groups. If multiple Warriors are in your group, you just tell them you have the Banners as the usual builds will be doing slightly more personal DPS than you, but you raise the groups DPS through the roof.

Hammer really should be avoided at all costs, I’m still looking for the PvE scenario that is holds any use in.

well yeah, the very best of the very best builds have the mobility of a walrus giving birth, but a balanced build for PvE has the greatsword because of its utility, not because of the raw DPS that can be surpassed by having axe mainhand in both weapon sets

Flask of Liquid Karma?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Pie Flavor.1647

Pie Flavor.1647

Ahh, yes, I was confused about Flask, Jug, Drop whatever.

I was talking about from the daily. I had a look at the wiki again, and it’s Drop of Liquid Karma. When did that change from 6K to 600? That’s a massive nerf.

And yeah, the Monthly gives 6k.

What’s the accepted best way to accumulate Karma these days? Run events? The Daily used to be a great source of Karma when I played before.

BTW: Any article explaining the Karma nerf, and why they did it etc.?

it was nerfed by a 90% (dailies only give a flask, monthlies only give 1 jug instead of 10), also the flasks, jugs, kegs, etc… cannot be boosted with karma gain boosters.

It was done to conserve the value of karma ingame, a lot of people complained they had millions upon millions of karma with nothing worthy to spend them on. I personally think that having 1000 or having 1,000,000 karma is the same, if you don’t need it it makes no difference, because there is no “karma economy” (and besides, why not blow them in obsidian shards? maybe one day you fancy crafting a legendary)

if you need karma, currently the best and most efficient way is to trade objectives on the edge of the mists, I can make 10,000 karma an hour if I’m lucky without any boosts other than the 1% karma gain account wide and the 5% from ice cream food (you can buy them cheap on the TP)

Then if you have 30 laurels laying around, go to the WvW areas and buy down an ascended amulet, then buy a karmic infusion for 10 more laurels to get a permanent +15% karma gain. You can also boost your karma gain by an additional 15% from your guild upgrades (you can activate it for some influence for 24h), lastly, some commanders like to do karma trains and they drop communal boost bonfires which give a 1 hour +50% karma gain, although it costs gems and you must be lucky to get the commander that drops one (they usually wait until a lot of ppl are on)

Yes because they want you to use the cash shop. You can’t really farm in this game.

what stupid argument is that? so what do you call farming gold and transforming it into gems?

What’s the current gold to gem rate? Then ask yourself how long it takes to farm the gold for, say, 800 gems and if it simply isn’t more rewarding to spend the $10.

1000 gems for the deluxe edition right now is around 100g, 100g is as easy to farm as a 10 days doing 5 dungeons a day (not really hard if you ask me) of course the person who only plays 10 minutes a day is not able to grind enough gold to replace the gem store, but it’s not an overwhelmingly difficult task to have a steady income of gold that allows you to buy anything you want from the gem store.

Why would I wait 10 days when I can have what I want in 10 minutes with the swipe of a credit card. I can have what I want and spend the next ten days doing something other then grinding gold.

because grinding for gold for 10 days takes like 20 hours of your life, if you don’t have 2 hours of your life daily to play some GW2, then yes, it’s better to swipe that credit card, but a lot of people do have 2 hours, in fact, they enjoy running dungeons daily, and all the better if they can also pay themselves gem store items by playing.

Why are there ascalonian ghosts in the mists?

in Lore

Posted by: Pie Flavor.1647

Pie Flavor.1647

I mean I’m not saying they shouldn’t be there, the description of “The Mists” is the most ambiguous, vague and unrevealing definition I’ve ever read, so ANYTHING can happen in the mist.

Thus, if ANYTHING can happen, why isn’t there more stuff? I don’t see dredge (who are literally everywhere in kryta), I don’t see “nightmares” (aatxe, shadow fiends, etc) even though they’re an exotic race that only appear in certain areas of the game (just like ascalonian ghosts), they even originate from the mists, but I don’t see them in any WvW map, in any fractals or in any of the PvP maps.

I just think there is a huge inconsistency with the mists, because apparently only the ascalonian ghosts were able to travel there, even though they’re supposed to only stay near ascalon to protect it from any intruders…

edit: the nightmares originate from the underworld, but I still find it strange they’re not in any of the mists but they somehow invaded tyria.

Also, no love for ele and thief?

Its profitable only for non pugs and arah super vets + selling of spots to noobs/nubs.

or just solo P4 in 20 min and sell the spots at 9g each, instant 102g/hour profit

Um, what is ‘Dulfy’?

Siegemaster Dulfy currently can be fought in the Urban Battlegrounds fractals.

Stop asking “what is..” when you clearly can see it’s a name, not a noun.

“We’re very happy to announce that the wiki has been acquired by Dulfy.net.”

It said ‘Dulfy.net’. The only name listed was for an NPC. So, I ask again….

What is ‘Dulfy’?

What is “John”? what is “Ranjit”? what is “José María”? I’m sure there is a meaning behind those words but those meanings are not relevant

flipping TP is the only way to earn money, if enough people do it we will reach a state in which no more gold is ever created in the game.
