Is there a good way of countering a golem rush of that magnitude? So far the consensus seems to be “back off, and retake it from them once they move on”.

Have a stocked keep, get people to reinforce in a decently timely manner, then siege your inner or lord room to hell. Depends on how many golems and pre-siege there is on how many gates you’re sacrificing to buy your people time to build.

When you’re sieging an inner choke or lord room, don’t make the common mistake of spreading siege out. Siege limit is 5/1000(1200?) so clustering groups of 5 and then spreading those clusters can fit insane amounts of siege in lord rooms.

If you stop them enough that it becomes a protracted lord room fight, that should favor you based on waypoints. Contesting waypoints is huge, and using your invader timer to suicide push or ferry in supply is important.

I apologize to CD. We had more golems at SBI’s keep, but some died. I think there were only 14 when we got to you.

Yes it does. Competent groups were ALWAYS able to avoid orange swords when the cap was 5. If white swords go away at 5, you’ll have the same zergs slamming your keeps with the same golems/tw/port chains, but you’ll not be able to respond in time.

CD is just taking the easy stuff so far. Attempted to take SM but it was pretty botched.

I hate the downed state also, but getting rid of rallies is more realistic and solves most of the issues. One random in a group vs group can literally literally cost your group the entire fight by getting staked in his kittenty berserker build. 20v20, one random dies, your side loses.

So there was a havoc made up of a d/d ele, a thief, and some guy that shot rainbow arrows (didn’t get a clear look).

The ele pressured and tanked and the arrow guy attacked from range. The thief would drain 3/4s of my health bar before I could see them.

Not a fun group to fight.

*Conveniently leaves out the part where he forgot that thieves could stealth downed allies and ran around like a maniac looking for the the magical disappearing ele.

Hmmm. Maguma is strong in open ground but not as strong as YB over all. While EB is not strong in open ground but good in Siege tactics, SBI is scary. You bare fangs early this reset time.

I never begged or cried for a commander do anything. People (including d\erp) wanted to know where it was, so I was telling the route in /t so more could join in. I was in the parade as a piggy, and other d\erps were in it as well.

Are golems game breaking?

Simple Answer: No.

Golems are on par to all other means of Siege. They have their use and their situation where they are good, and have their weakness as well.

There’s a hard siege limit based on geography, and golems bypass that. They are completely unique from other siege weapons

We’ve also done it offensively. You just drag him into the keep when a wall/gate is down. If you want a pet just seal the gate behind him.

Grub has no leash range at all IIRC. You can take him on a walk around the entire map.

Haven’t fought SBI so I only wish them good luck~! If our server’s general WvW malaise continues we might get more than a week in t4. Mag fairweathers come out in force when we’re close or winning, though.

I think you shouldn’t stress out as a Mag commander since 90% of the population is taking this week as a burnout vacation right now.

Mag is a pretty friendly server so I don’t know why we get a bad rep! We are also honest, so I guess that’s a negative.

We transfered from maguuma to avoid the zergyness. They are getting stomped by tc for the same reason they will stomp sbi…population.

The population gradient in this 3,4,5 tier range is extreme.

Pretty much. Mag holds no illusions about skill greater than population anymore and other t5/t4/t3 servers shouldn’t either. The population gap separating tiers is pretty big, but the jump from t3/t2 servers is insane, and larger than any jumps before it.

Open field fights are worth bragging about, though, so we hope to have fun vs sbi.

Check again. TC got their points this week from Mag, and Mag and Yaks are switching spots, giving TC a new red team to take points from. If TC keeps up the same pressure, they’ll be back in 2 weeks, maybe 3.

The real killer for us at that point in our drop was that SoR was a simply supermassive server that we couldn’t compete against. I’m not quite sure how we’ll fare against Maguuma, but either way it’ll be a good opportunity to see what we’re really made of and whether we can convince our numbers to stick with it.

I don’t know the state of SBI, but TC dominating t3 is a numbers game like the ladder always is. If SBI isn’t pushing 3-4 queues on reset and 2 queues NA, then you aren’t comparable to TC’s endless zerg army.

Well we’re more interested in what the queues are on your server and how endless your zerg army is

We usually do 2 queue reset and no queue weekday. If it’s a match we’re likely to win, our fairweather players come out and sometimes get a daily Eternal queue for a couple of hours.

This is based on the past 3-4ish weeks

Maguuma is strong NA primetime but weak overnight/morning IIRC. The best matchup would be EB/CD/SBI, IMO. Too bad that won’t happen.

Depends if SoS loses more people as they fall down. If they are t5 it would align stuff pretty well.

Not stomping like how you’re stomping us, but probably. SBI might move up so who knows if it’ll be a little closer than last time. t4/t3 would be really, really stable if there was just 1 less t2 server. If SoS went below t4, t4 would be SBI/CD/Ebay which is really close, and t3 would be yb/mag/db, which is equally desirable.

If SoS was actually a true t5 server, that would actually make that tier finally no longer a green stomp. One server away from every single tier being much closer except for t8. Unfortunately, SoS will not fall to t5 with who is still there, especially tsym.

Give it your best confidence Ebay! Wanna see your lovely faces next week instead of sbi/cd.

Laughable, nice flame bait though. EB has some guilds that can wipe our pugs, and apparently you can defend 1700 Keeps if you summon your entire weekend NA primetime force of “20 people.” But YB dominates open field equal numbers, when our main guilds are actually present.

Which YB guilds are those?

Mags numbers are way down, but like I said in another thread, it’s actually the regulars that aren’t showing up. I think there’s just a WvW burnout at the moment, but it should pass.

the main issue with mag = we have numbers…. that only show up when we are winning.. so t4 we have a half hour queue and t3 we have outnumbered buff.. for the most part these people are just lazy levelers who somehow translate to winning via zerg.

It was fairweathers before, but I think it’s just general burnout at this point. A lot of the regulars are not on at all or only for an hour here and there. I don’t think it’s specific to our server, either.
