Ooooh, I haven’t played the infinity ball story yet, but have always been intrigued by the steam creatures. So I don’t really know whether that story has a conclusion or an open ending. But I would love to see them in the living story somewhere.

Also, remind me to roll an Asura next.

Mystic Forge: Mini Risen Priest of Balthazar

in Suggestions

Pixelpumpkin.4608

Suggestion 1: Allow us to chuck our mini risen priests of Blathazar into the mystic forge.

I assume the reason for not allowing this at present is that this mini is of “exotic” quality, and we have way too many of them piled up, so if we were able to chuck them into the mystic forge, we’d suddenly flood the market with jack-alops and other highly sought after exotic minis. Therefore,

Suggestion 2: Change their quality from exotic to masterwork (or even fine).

I think players would be willing to make this trade if that means that our mini priests are suddenly useful for something other than just piling up in our inventories.

Anyway, I feel that these minor changes would turn the mini risen priests from being an annoyance (“Oh! It’s you. You’re useless.”) to something fun (“Weee, mystic forge gamblig!”) while also helping Orrian jewellery boxes, despite being a karma sink, become more popular.

Jumping Puzzles and Mesmer portals

In other words, I don’t see mesmer portaling as different in any way from all the creative ways in which players tackle PvE content in general.

Do you honestly see no difference in any way between a skill that makes it easier to make it through a jumping puzzle (swiftness, stbility, mesmer portal as your own “safety net” for a tricky jump, falling damage reduction) and a skill that makes it so someone does not do the jumping puzzle?

That’s like comparing handing out drinks to marathon runners and cheering for them, to giving someone a free pass to take a taxi and then stand in the finish line. I don’t think you get a participation badge for the latter…

Aetherblade story dungeon vs jumping puzzles

in Living World

Posted by: Pixelpumpkin.4608

Pixelpumpkin.4608

And then there’s the problem with the jump pads. They are quite unreliable. They don’t always launch you high enough to make the jump, and part of this may have to do with the falling damage you get if you stay on them. They also tend to move you to the side, so I often can’t safely stay on top of a jump pad to study the jump itself. Even if you’re not touching the controls, your character will often not stay dead center on top of the jump pad by him/herself.

Yes, the jump pads are laggy and glitchy as kitten. It is probably the one thing ANet shouldn’t have taken away from the SAB to introduce it in the rest of the game. First Dragonball, then Aetherblade dungeon, then the jumping puzzle. We may never get rid of them again.

Do you hear that, otherwise-ly totally awesome Josh Foreman? Every time the jump pads glitch out on us, we shake your fist at you.

I guess the Aetherblade weapons would have been very popular, same as the consortium whips.

As a general rule, we want what the NPCs have (armour, town clothes, hair styles, weapon skins).

The NPCs create fashion, fashion creates demand, demand creates supply, suppy means money for you and satisfaction for us.

And the great thing about fashion is that it constantly changes. I may want Kasmeer’s hair today and Marjory’s tomorrow. Unlimited moneys for ANet!

The missing link standing in between you, ANet, and all my money right now is “demand creates supply”.

Not everything in the game can be a faceroll.

In short, if your content is temporary then actually yes, it does need to be “faceroll easy” or, as we casuals like to call it “normal difficulty.” If content is permanent then make it as challenging as you like, we’ll have all the time in the world to go back and practice if we want to.

Thank you for pointing this out. I feel that this point has been completely neglected in the discussion so far. I would like to elaborate on it some more:

Casual players have limited time to play. But that does not just apply to this week. They’ve most likely had limited time to play since the beginning.

That means

  • They may not have had the time (or felt the need) to sit down and learn the nooks and crannies of their character class(es); or to build up the elaborate knowledge to trait and skill for maximum efficiency. Their build may be kind of random.
  • They may not have the funds to get the best exotic armour for their playstyle. Their armour may well be a mix and match.
  • They very certainly haven’t had time to do 60 explorable dungeons for a set of rabid armour.
  • They may not have planned ahead – they may have spent their karma on whatever seemed useful at the time (and why wouldn’t they, if that was always good enough) and may not have ~ 300k karma for soldier’s armour or 150+ gold for sentinel’s armour
  • They may not have assembled enough laurels or guild commendation (let alone fractal tokens and vials) for ascended jewellery and back pieces. (I have some of each, but not enough of either to fully gear myself in purple.)
  • They may not even be level 80 (although I know many players who made it to level 80 on multiple characters without becoming pro players).

And you know what, PvE (the core game, I might add) difficulty levels suggest that this casual playstyle is okay. Then suddenly the living story content suggests it is no longer good enough, and people need to L2P within 2 weeks. If you look at the list above, that is a lot more of catching up to do than to simply understand the boss fight mechanics.

(I pointed out rabid, soldier’s and sentinel’s as these are the set that myself and friends of mine have been recommended for better survivability or efficiency.)

Just because you, dear non-casual player, with your specific build, min-maxed stats, fully optimally traited and skilled, geared in exotics and ascended items character(s) find the normal PvE content too easy and boring, doesn’t mean that it is face-roll easy for a casual player. For a casual player with their non-min-maxed, random gear character, this is indeed normal difficulty.

You, with all the time you’ve had to build up knowledge and assemble gear, may be soloing champions for fun, but you cannot assume that everybody else is on your level.

Pixelpumpkin.4608

Yes, I agree that if you want to use a harvesting too on multiple characters, you should buy multiple tools.
But the soulbound state of the harvesting tools creates other issues.

However, there is a chance that new harvesting tools with new animations are released. Now let’s say (hypothetically) that they release a “chainsaw” unlimited logging axe that I would like for my engi (main), it would mean that I will lose the lightning logging axe that I’ve already purchased and used on my main. In that case, I would be happiest if a new tool came with a single, one-time “unbind” ticket for harvesting tools, so I would be able to move my former harvesting tool down to one of my alts instead of overwriting and deleting it. i.e.: if I pay for two harvesting tools, let me use two harvesting tools.

This would possibly be beneficial to ANet as well as some players would invest in the new animation harvesting tool that otherwise would simply keep their old one.

New Commander Chat Color

Pixelpumpkin.4608

We already have many different chat colours, so adding more colours might be a problem for some people.

What I would fully support would be a customisable system – if we had an options menu where every player can pick their own preferred colours for different chat types.

This way,

  • WvWers would be able to make commander chat stand out more for them,
  • RPers could make it so emotes and /say are highlighted better,
  • I personally would make /map gray and /party stand out more,
  • get rid of pink for /whisper,
  • in PvP quickly make chat colour match your team colour,
  • etc. etc.

At the same time you would be able to not override commander chat lines with a different colour, preserving the status quo for players who like the current system and don’t want to see a rainbow in PvE /map chat.

Allow me to summarize what we don’t know yet (unless I missed it):

  • What will quartz be used for?
  • How much quartz will be needed for it?
  • How will quartz be mined (mining pick?)
  • How much quartz will we be able to mine per day / per account / per character / per character slot?
  • Will there be any other limitations (minimum level or other)?
  • What other sources for quartz will be there? (Will it drop from ori nodes? Will there be dedicated quartz nodes in open world?)
  • Will quartz be tradable on the TP?

You know how many of my azurites I used to craft stuff for all my characters combined? Zero.

There is an assumption that quartz can be used to craft zenith weapons, based on the weapons looking crystalline on the screenshots, but we don’t know that either. So, it seems a little early to me to complain.

Some of us bloody love the Aetherblade dungeon, and some of us feel the Aetherblade dungeon is too hard – we’d all be served well if the dungeon was made permanent.

Is this something we can agree on?

I agree.

Thanks to my excellent teammates, I was able to complete the dungeon, along with most of the achievements. But I have several friends who are still struggling with it. Given some more time, I think most of them would complete it. Many would probably even learn to love some of the details (like Frizz’s encounter, which is absolutely awesome).

Sadly, they won’t get a chance to enjoy it, and they may even go away angry. As someone who wants to see his circle of GW2 friends remain excited about the game, that’s a little disappointing.

This is exactly the experience I made.

I do really like the dungeon for the most part. But after 4-5 runs, it still takes my group 2-3 hours to beat it, thanks to the boss fight. Ain’t nobody got time for that…

If at all, I’d also go with Dragon Coffers, but I’m actually very sceptical those are going to rise.
Desptie all of the complaining, I actually think that most people who wanted a Jade ticket will have gotten one by now, after almost a month of dragon coffers dropping excessively. Neither the ticket nor the weapon skin are tradeable so the coffers are not worth flipping, so I doubt the demand will be that high for them.
I have a feeling that the monocle might rise in the long term, but that’s quite an investment to make.

I hope you’re right, because I would love a few more jade weapon tickets, but I’m sort of broke for now. :P

I wouldn’t take money for such “services” though, nor would I pay money to others to allow me to bypass content (like join a dungeon only for the end boss). Either variant feels cheap to me.

I would like to point out that it doesn’t say anywhere that this will be the only way to obtain quartz. For all we know, quartz could be added to the world as a regular crafting material (either with new nodes or, probably more likely, as a random bonus drop from metal nodes).

That would make more sense. It seems strange to only have the node available for people who get this one living story and everyone else is out of luck. Including anyone who buys the game after this.

Yes, but even if that was the case, most of the quartz would still end up on the trading post. There is no theoretical limit to the amount that people can mine over time, but only a limited amount of crafted pieces that a player needs or wants.

(I sold off all my azurite in the end as I had no need for it.)

Either way, I’m not too worried.

What elder dragon do you want next?

My personal list goes like this, along with my hopes and dreams:

  • Deep Sea Dragon
More/better underwater stuff! Tentacles! Ships and maelstroms and epicness! The most “different” experince.
  • Mordremoth
The jungles are my favourite maps in Tyria to hang out, and I would love more of that. We’ve been teased with some (very few) blighted creatures. What’s the relationship between the dragon and the nightmare court, if any? This is intriguing, story-wise. Plus he seems to be buddy-buddy with Zhaitan (judging by the creatures at the Tequatl fight), so it would be a logical next step.
  • Kralkatorrik
I love the crystal look, and always have been intrigued by the dragonbrand.
  • Primordius
Fire is, in a way, the most boring (to me) of the elements for dragons, but the whole story with the dwarves is interesting. I’m sure ANet could come up with something to make the whole thing cool. I do like lava environments and caves.
  • Jormag
Claw of Jormag is my least favourite dragon fight, I seriously find it annoying. The whole ice thing doesn’t interest me that much, I feel like I’ve done enough snow-hikes in the Shiverpeaks….

If it was all about the dragons, I’d honestly be very bored. I like a good mix of things, and I’ve had no problem at all with the living story events so far.

I will sign this though:

EVENT ACHIEVEMENTS

Currently i have done every Living Story achievement exept from a couple from the atherblade dungeon. I probably wont be able to complete them due to my limited time and the limited time the dungeon is available for. I imagine that most people feel that way too but if you are going to add super hard achievements it would be better if they are for permanent content and not for something that is available for a couple of weeks. Also the Dragon Bash achievements were the worst grind i had to do since the start of GW2. Event achievements should be fun creative and casual. Stuff that will bring a simple sense of accomplishment to people that logged in to check out whats new rather than stress them and make them feel that they have to play or they will miss them.

Personal Quartz node questions

Pixelpumpkin.4608

Ehm, another question: If you can’t get the meta achievement of this limited time event for whatever reason (no time to play etc.) you permanently lose access to a crafting resource?
If so, second question: Has Arenanet totally lost their minds?

This on the other hand is a very GOOD question, they better find a way so that new players coming to the game after this event is over can also get access to this quartz resource.

Slight bump to this concern. Though I’ll probably get it, I worry that later possible players will hear about this on the forum, and not buy/play GW2. “What’s the point? I won’t be on the same starting point than everyone else who joined before?” (Yes I understand that can be a flawed argument, but I’ve seen it used enough in gaming – and other venues, like Second Life – that it still has merit for future income to ArenaNet.)

A simple fix would be to add it as an account upgrade in the ’Shop, include it as a new part of Digital Deluxe (even better), or make sure enough of the world content used to unlock this node is made permanent (best).

I would like to point out that it doesn’t say anywhere that this will be the only way to obtain quartz. For all we know, quartz could be added to the world as a regular crafting material (either with new nodes or, probably more likely, as a random bonus drop from metal nodes).

I didn’t understand the quartz node to be exclusive to the home instance, and if it is, I will be surprised to say the least.

Plus, we don’t know what sort of item we’ll be able to craft – but we already know that all the different characters have very different needs for armour, weapon and potion stats, so it’s safe to assume that the biggest part of quartz drops will end up on the TP.

So, what should I do? can I just ask ANet if they might get the dungeon back or release special skins on the gem store?

I think it’s safe to say that IF the dungeon comes back (as a fractal or otherwise), the reward item doesn’t. And they won’t put the monocle in the gem store either. (At least there’s no precedence for either.)

My advice is: Sell it soon.

Reasoning:
1) There’s no guarantee that the price will go up at all. (If you look at the data of the jetpack and the super greatsword skin, the two most popular limited edition drops so far, that’s just not what happened so far. Those items were obtainable in April and beginning of May. I do not see the prices suddenly jumping up at the 3 or 4 month mark. Why would they? It will be a steady but slow increase. They might never reach the peak for shortly before the end of the event, when people realized that it isn’t going to drop for them and panicked.)
2) If you hold on to your item for now, be aware that if (when) the price goes up, it will be a long wait.
3) You pointed out that you’re a new player. 40 gold, right now, is an absolute fortune to you. 40 gold, early in your guild wars life, is a lot more valuable than 80 gold will be in 6 to 12 months. (and this is assuming a “best case” scenario for the price development!)

Achievement-dependant rewards

in Bazaar of the Four Winds

Posted by: Pixelpumpkin.4608

Pixelpumpkin.4608

So, let’s assume for a moment that the rewards we get will be tied to specific achievements (as is the case with the living story achievements and rewards already).

Which type of reward would you like to see for which type of achievement?

Instead of arguing about daily achievement points, let’s make this fun and creative!

Here’s a few ideas from the other thread:

Category – reward
xxx AP on Monthly/Daily Category – different endless tonics
xxx AP on Dungeon/Fractal related Category – Armor set / weapons
xxx AP on WvW related Category – Armor set / +world XP bonus
xxx AP on general PVE – mini pets / Armor set / weapons / MF bonus
xxx AP on PvP – cool finishing moves / Armor set

And here’s an idea from one of the housing threads:

me: Like, you may need to complete the Drake slayer achievement to get the Drake head. So you’ll have to go out and get them.
C: I can slay me some drakes.

There you have it. She has been logging on less and less for the last few months, because dungeons and puzzles weren’t her thing. But this update has reinvigorated interest. …I hope you end up having wall mounted drake heads.

Slayer achievement for the sentient races could be a hanging set of their armor/weapons or maybe a mannequin with the armor and weapons.

And some more ideas:

  • Emergency Response Hero – permanent bonus to Power
  • Been There, Done That – well, we already get a reward for this.
  • Lifetime Survivor – permanent bonus to Toughness
  • Personal Story Completion – a house (or magic door)
  • Crafting achievements – a different type of bag of holding for each
  • Dive Master – Diving goggles helmet skin
  • No One Left Behind – permanent bonus to Healing Power
  • Weapon Mastery achievements – a unique weapon skin for the type of weapon you mastered

What are your ideas?

Except items like this won’t come back… at all. So you can hold it for as long as you want and the price will go up up up up up… it’s just a matter of how badly you want to liquidate it.

Except that it is still available now. I can think of several limited time items whose value dropped significantly before the end of their run, and even after, that I probably should have sold while there still was a profit to be made. (Some SAB skins, molten tonic recipe, mini southsun wind rider…)

Yes, on the long run the price will (likely) go up, but before that, it may drop well below at what it is now, so it could be a very long wait.

Actually, it’s very unlikely that the price will drop (and stay dropped).

Let’s take a loot at a fancy term called scarcity

This item is a great example of scarcity, because even if the skin isn’t “that good” as some people might say, it has one of the lowest drop rates (see: Molten Alliance Jetpacks).

Why? The droprate is pitifully low in a dungeon that caters to competent players. Keep in mind that with every game, the majority of players are not competent.

So, what do we end up with? An item that rarely drops in a dungeon that is not run super often.

Slap on the fact that the dungeon is only available for 2 weeks (as opposed to SAB which was a full month and was grind-able, especially for skins on an ~15m for 3 chest basis).

I’ll let you figure out where the price will end up, though, because, hey, I’m just a troll.

Thanks for the education.

Here’s the super scepter @ gwspidy: http://www.gw2spidy.com/item/41952
It reached its peak price several days before the end of the SAB, and then dropped, and the price continued to drop. It is now worth half than what it was when it was still available.

Mini reef rider: http://www.gw2spidy.com/item/43248
hasn’t been available since the Secret of Southsun, and is still dropping in price.

Infinite molten berserker tonic recipe: http://www.gw2spidy.com/item/42404
See for yourself where that one’s going.

But maybe the items that I’ve got sitting in my own inventory aren’t representative. So let’s try the community’s most popular of limited edition items:

Super greatsword skin: http://www.gw2spidy.com/item/41946

Jetpack: http://www.gw2spidy.com/item/42406
Bonus trivia: While the SAB was up for a month, the Molten Facility was around for all of 11 days.

So sure, keep generalising it if you want, but actual data says you’re wrong.

My original point stands:

Yes, on the long run the price will (likely) go up, but before that, it may drop well below at what it is now, so it could be a very long wait.

If anything, it looks like limited item prices peak just before they become unavailable. It’s always a gamble, but if I had a monocle to sell, I’d probably sell it this Sunday.

And on character farming:

Introducing a level restriction would be a crude workaround; the better idea is to restrict rewards per character slot instead of per character. That means that everyone would be able to mine the quartz (or get any other reward) on each of their characters, but deleting and starting over would have no effect. However, players who invested in additional character slots would be able to get more rewards.

Sounds fair?

it IS punishment, if the whole dam game is being steered towards the idea that everyone should benefit from 1 character only !

It really isn’t. You can mine the quartz with the one character who a) has the unlimited mining pick or b) whose hone instance is easiest to reach (etc.) and then use the quartz to craft something on another character who doesn’t have access to the pick tool or the cooler home instance, but DOES have access to a different craft.

This system supports playing alts just fine, as long as the quartz goes into storage and isn’t soulbound.

Category – reward
xxx AP on Monthly/Daily Category – different endless tonics
xxx AP on Dungeon/Fractal related Category – Armor set / weapons
xxx AP on WvW related Category – Armor set / +world XP bonus
xxx AP on general PVE – mini pets / Armor set / weapons / MF bonus
xxx AP on PvP – cool finishing moves / Armor set

In one of the housing threads, the idea came up to gain wall-mountable trophies for slayer achievements: Dolyak head, etc. for non-sentient races, and armor/weapon pieces for sentient races.

I really liked that!

I don’t think the entire idea of basing rewards and bonuses on specific achievements is too far-fetched; it is essentially what they’ve been doing with the living story ones for the last 3 chapters.

Being a member of multiple organisations

Hi! I am several chapters into the first GW2 novel, and Ember whatshername talks about her warband. This got me thinking about something that’s confused me before. I’m asking for RP reasons.

If you’re part of the Lion’s Guad, Seraph or Shining Blade, then that’s basically full-time jobs, correct? Could you be part of the Vigil at the same time – would that count as more of a hobby?

I think we all know what happens when you get conflicting orders or have to divide your loyalties between different organisations and their causes (eh, Logan?).

For other races I am even less sure how that works. Charrs answer to their legions and the loyalty stringly lies with a tight warband. Asura have their colleges (but that’s probably not too time-consuming?) and an optional (?) krewe (that you shall always be loyal to).

I’m not aware of any such divisions for Sylvari at all. Norn have their faith, but that doesn’t get in the way of anything I guess.

But for humans, Charr and Asura I’d like to see your input. Do you think there is regular conflicts between a character’s “home life and day job” and their order membership? If so, how do you resolve these?

Except items like this won’t come back… at all. So you can hold it for as long as you want and the price will go up up up up up… it’s just a matter of how badly you want to liquidate it.

Except that it is still available now. I can think of several limited time items whose value dropped significantly before the end of their run, and even after, that I probably should have sold while there still was a profit to be made. (Some SAB skins, molten tonic recipe, mini southsun wind rider…)

Yes, on the long run the price will (likely) go up, but before that, it may drop well below at what it is now, so it could be a very long wait.

Achievement:
noun
1. A thing done successfully, typically by effort, courage, or skill.
2. The process or fact of achieving something.

I already +1 this, but I thought I’d quote it too just in case some of you missed it. It’s possibly the best argument to the OP

It is sort of weird to see the majority of players in this thread agree with that definition, but not in the other thread about jumping puzzle achievements and portals.

Also, if these points did count then one could conceivably unlock everything with nothing but the dailies and monthlies.

Am I the only person who genuinely doesn’t see a problem with this?

I believe the goal of the new rewards is to give people even more incentive to log back in every day.

While there is a limit on how many AP you can make through dailies and monthlies, you can still do the other achievements for a big fat bonus.

If this would have been implemented from the start, nobody would have a problem with that.

I think that everyone is in agreement when it comes to open world housing. If it could be implemented – and real estate was locked down to certain areas you could build in that could house everyone on the server – then that would be the number one choice.

I’m not in agreement with this at all!

A quick googling reveals estimates of 40,000 accounts on average per server. Many of these accounts are inactive certainly, but do you take away inactive players’ houses? Are houses something you have to earn, or does every player get them? A little more googling suggests a server might be “full” at 15,000 online players. Most servers are at least medium-capacity most of the time, so we’ll call this 20,000 players playing regularly, and lets say half of them having housing.

Finally, some numbers.

Where in the game world do you put 10,000 houses? The Guild Wars 2 world is very big, but it’s still on a scale much, much smaller than the real world. If you place them in existing zones, then no matter where you go, you’ll be fighting harpies, minotaurs and the risen dead on someone’s front lawn.

Conversely, if you create new “housing zones”, they’ll basically be massive empty spaces with nothing but player houses—and you still need space on the map for them. Lets say each city has its own housing zone. Each one has to house about 1,700 houses.

Space isn’t the only problem, either. The mood and user experience are a big issue too. Instanced housing and instanced storylines make the player feel unique. Though you know that everyone else in the world also commands the pact, you don’t see it. Living in a slum alongside thousands of other players, though, is humbling. It’s a much more “down to earth” feel, and that’s just not what Guild Wars 2 is about.

Basically, yes. Open world housing isn’t something you can just slap on.

I don’t know if you’ve read this thread, I didn’t see your name in the list of posters anyway, but basically, this idea would address all your concerns:

Where in the game world do you put 10,000 houses? They’re already there, and could have multiple owners without them knowing of each other – same as with the commanding the pact thing.

I’m still most interested in a LotRO style housing system, minus the regular rent requirement. I played Horizons for three years. They developed open-world housing in specific locations. Result? Cutthroat competition for prime lots every time a new area opened. Very bad blood between players. Urbanized sections of what had been wilderness. Huge FPS drops (GW2 might avoid that, HZ had a horrible rendering thing where no matter what wall was in your way, every object behind the wall had to render).

LotRO still had some issues, in that wanting a whole neighborhood for your guild was hard to manage as anyone could hop into the instance and buy a house while your guild was getting coordinated. Plus the rent thing meant that if you didn’t affirmatively upkeep the house, you lost it and all the decorations went into an escrow locker to be retrieved once you coughed up the gold for another house, possibly no longer with your guild.

I bet ANet will come up with something fun. That’s been their goal in everything, to get rid of the unfun parts of game features. Likely it will have ideas none of us would have thought of but once we see them we’ll be unable to imagine doing without. Still, I’d bet against open-world. There’s too many players and not enough world.

You’re making some really good points there.

The portable door sounds -awesome-. Though then the interior of the house needs to be customizable to an even higher degree, or you might enter a noble mansion via a sewer grating …

… and such a mismatch would be hilarious to many, while RPers could actively avoid it and keep their own world consistent. I have no problem with a little creativity for those who want it, especially if housing is instanced (who will ever know?)

But yes, I’ve been thinking the same about the sizes and customization options of interiors.

(btw I want Caudecus Manor or something on the same scale to be my family estate. I can has?)

Just slap your door onto Jenna’s palace ;D

No, in seriousness, those buildings that are already owned by specific NPCs probably shouldn’t be valid door-targets. But there is fancy housing the DR, LA and Ebonhawke (to name but a few) that would be up for grabs…

Jumping Puzzles and Mesmer portals

All that being said, I personally don’t care about the leaderboards, I don’t care about people getting free chests, and I don’t care about how mesmers spend their time.

I do care about the jumping puzzles which were lovingly designed by the devs, and if I was the devs, I would find a way to discourage people from bypassing this lovingly designed content and jumping straight to the reward chest AND achievement. I perceive this as disrespectful towards the arts. My personal solution would be to implement invisible check points along the way. Players ported to the end would get the chest, but only players who passed all the checkpoints would get the achievement.

There is no such shortcut for dungeon achievements, crafting achievements, personal story achievements, slayer achievements or anything else – in order to get the badge, you have to succeed in completing the task. I don’t see why jumping puzzles should be an exception.

I get that not everybody has the resources to do every task and get every achievement. I, for example, don’t have the time to slay 1000 giants, but I don’t feel entitled to get a free achievement from someone else who slays 1000 giants and then using a skill that tricks the game into thinking I did.

I think I raised a few interesting points here, but nobody’s replied to them.

Why are you so exited about this Pixelpumpkin?

You basically want to ‘claim’ a house in the open world.. Well then you should be much more exited about the idea of open world housing in stead of instance based housing with a door you can place anywhere…

I personally don’t see the difference – I don’t care whether it’s instanced or not, and I don’t see why I should

If it is about building your own hut: Tyria is bautifully designed with loads of buildings in the distinct styles that befit their areas. Players shouldn’t meddle with this…

On a similar note though, since all the amazing buildings are already there, I hope that I won’t be limited to my own home instance when housing arrives, when the world has so many awesome other options to offer.
