I like the icing on the cake best, the more the better ;-)
start an alt and do a lot of skill-point challenges again?
Ah, I was wrong I see.
I didn’t play EotN, only saw all cut scenes on youtube. I was under the impression that the ‘normal’ charr stopped with their titan/destroyer admiration, but not the flame legion. Or that at least the source of their ‘fire-magic’ lied with Primordius.
“manifesto – a public declaration of intentions "
And that was it, are we done now with these silly threads?
You say that Primordius can’t corrupt, but just wondering, what are those godforged enemies we fight in CoF? They do look as if they are corrupted in a similar way as some of those Sons of Svanir.
Isn’t Primordius the “god” of the flame legion, and this making godforged similar to corrupted?
godforged example: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Godforged_Hellstorm
To avoid going off topic too much, I found 2 or three groups of 2 flame legion enemies in the mines of Moledavia. I think they are related to the story. Also, although a bit ‘meta-game’ there was a large piece of “broken” map near the most western entrance to Moledavia. I don’t know if it was there before, but it might indicate that maybe in a future update something will change or be added there?
I wouldn’t mind a whole series of very challenging jumping puzzles =D
They could add a special cosmetic item for those that complete all the jumping puzzles, a jumpsuit ;-) .
what? plot hole?
On the contrary, this is what is makes the plot interesting! What is the reason that they are able to overcome their xenophobia and work together. Was it a promise of power? Or a joint goal? Will one of them maybe at some time stab the other in the back… will we try to set that in motion? It’s a plot hook, not a plot hole.
First of all, GW2 is b2p (buy to play).
But I don’t think the OP realizes how much work is involved in making an update.
For something that comes out every month, I think the updates are huge!
I think they’ll unlock 1 or 2 more items to find every week (or a bit longer).
_Aside from the Living Story main characters, we’ll also be surprising you with interesting villains, one of whom will become your personal nemesis. Again, no spoilers allowed, so I can’t tell you more than that, but you’ll recognize this sassy character when you see…um, him/her/it. <grin> _
What they said in their blog post.
So, I guess it’s some kind of intelligence that is working behind the scenes. That sound way to sophisticated for a dragon. Also since it’ll be coming back several times (otherwise it wouldn’t be a proper nemesis) I don’t think it’ll be a dredge or flame legion charr, but something that stirs them up, or gave them some power to abuse…
This doesn’t sound too unlikely for the mursaat right? (speculation!!!!) And I’m pretty sure all GW1 players (not only the veterans) will recognize them.
Small guilds might be gated from the content designed for large guilds, but the player surely isn’t.
This is where the possibility to join multiple guild really shines.
So there isn’t actually really a problem, if you just open your mind to the idea of joining another big guild.
In the end small guild start small guild-content and big guilds start big-guild content.
They are ashamed of their ugly hulk-form. It’s apparently socially unacceptable to change in an ugly quaggan. I mean, most animals first flee and fight as a last resort.
Also, Anet doesn’t like quaggans changing in their ugly shape, they actively discourage it, as ugly quaggans are bad for the backpack sales ;-)
This is answered in the wiki. The look kind, until angered. Kind of like the Hulk.
In Gendarran (sic) fields you can fight a quaggan for a skill point, just take a look at how he looks.
“A quaggan who has been angered or is in pain will become a destructive, instinctive creature and transform to expose teeth and claws normally hidden by their rounded, benign exterior. "
I don’t think it will help so much. Mainly because people go to orr for the drops, not the xp karma or gold. (well, maybe a bit for the karma though).
For XP and gold people do dungeons and fractals.
I think they need to create some high level content in those areas, something that is fun to play, but also rewards the player with some proper level drops.
Yesterday I noticed a large amount of people having duels all over the place. (the first time we didn’t notice this and just barged in and killed some ‘enemies’ before we were informed that they were having duels.
What about introducing an area where people can duel. Maybe in the cave of the EB jumping puzzle.
I was imagining several pits where two teams of maybe 1,2 or 3 players from different servers are pitted against each other. Winning a fight owns a point or 2 for the respective server, and possibly a badge for the winning team.
To avoid any interference for fights outside of the pits, people who enter the area-hall would get a bundle that disables all skills (e.g. like the halloween jumping puzzle). And are then able to spectate the battles. (maybe put an invisible-wall dome around the pit)
I think this would be welcomed by a large amount of players that really want to duel, but the fact that you can win points for the server would also make your slot in the wvwvw map not a wasted one (as so maybe complain about in respect to those doing the EB jumping puzzle.)
Actually it looks like a weekly schedule, with a major update monthly.
Also some new NPC have appeared that give new hint on who or what is behind this all.

You can sell them for about 3 copper on the TP or just delete them (so it’s not really a problem) :P
But yes, the drop rate is too high. At about 600 hours I only found one key dropping naturally.
you should make a lore video together then ;-)
The idea behind the change is fine, but I would suggest something like a one minute downtime before you can waypoint again. If a party is going to wipe, it’s most likely to wipe in one minute anyway.
But now, just a bit too often a dead person might have to wait up to 15 minutes to continue playing, maybe only after one small mis-step.
A one minute cooldown would prevent 90% of the res-rushing cases, but will not prevent a player from blankly staring at his or her death screen for a quarter of an hour. But it’s maybe long enough for the allies to consider ressing this person if the boss fight allows for that.
I dare to disagree, those that can actually admit that they have been wrong are for me the most credible. Those that never admit they are wrong are most likely to make stuff up just to cover their mistakes.
Off the top of my head? Only a video where he said the skill challenge golem in Zone Green of Mount Maelstrom spouts binary that translates into “Pale Tree” (it is “end transmission sequence” iirc). I typically don’t care enough to remember what he gets wrong, though that one fueled a big series of fusses over “Pale Tree=Elder Dragon” based primarily on that “fact.”
I think he corrected himself some time later… (but I could be wrong about that).
Also I think the pale tree had close connections to the lettuce dragon, but not because of the binary. (And I think that the druids maybe take the place of the Forgotten in the ’conversion, but this is a bit off topic).
But please let me know some of the big mistakes he made, especially those in the lore series. (I think you shouldn’t put too much weight on what he talks during his rambling-video’s ;-) .)
I’ve seen you mention that WP put out some wrong facts. Could you maybe point out some of the most severe ones?
Actually, according to this guide http://dulfy.net/2013/01/29/gw2-living-story-refuge-volunteer-events-guide/ , things are evolving. Since the 4th of Feb new things (npcs/structures) have appeared.
It’s maybe slow and small, but the storyline is evolving.
Can’t wait for you to see what I’m working on now. You may never leave it.
New PVP mode, jumping puzzle! \o/
Not to off topic too much,
I loved the clocktower
(edited by Plunder.8195)
I like EB JP. If I had a complaint it would be the planting of siege at the top of the arena. Arrow carts, ballista, and catapults. I don’t see this as a necessary tactic and think siege should be eliminated from the jump puzzle.
The PvP & trap elements are great, but sieging is a joke. That’s just my opinion.
as far as I know, this is already the case since last patch.
There are some things wrong in the OP’s analogy.
First of all, we are the kids, not the guy that pay the money.
Second, somehow we are to feel angry because the man has to pay twice as much. But loot doesn’t work that way. Nobody looses anything, in the analogy that man would loose suddenly more than $20.
If I could generate money out of thin air, just as the loot in this game in generated, I would gladly give all those kids $20.
I think removing the possibility to mesmer portal up to the end would solve a lot of problems.
Now those that camp the arena near the end have a near endless supply of players to camp. And those that are killed are back within no time with some mesmer portal help. So , even fighting back and pulling off some enemies is not going to help, they are back in one minute.
It would be ‘fair’ if everybody actually had to do the JP rather than cheese past it.
I don’t have a problem with camping, more with the near impossibility to fight against it.
Also note that the monthly is doable within one day. The mystic packages even spawn some of those toys you need to kill, so you don’t have to “farm” them in the dungeon =)
People play fractals over dungeons because fractals are faster and more fun.
As OP’s anecdote shows, it is not for the gear treadmill since at level 1 you cannot get ascended items, people that play for the gear are at least at level 10 and do those over and over again.
I think the majority of the players doesn’t even care about the 2 ascended rings.
“What the hell is that pug’er doing?”
“We can just skip these mobs”
As I understand, the OP doesn’t have a problem with the PvP in the JP, but with the siege equipment.
And that part I understand, it’s kinda like bringing a gun to a knife fight. A bit overkill, and thus kills the fun.
I would certainly agree to make the JP siege free, there are already enough tools provided to make your opponents miserable. And as a nice side effect it doesn’t block siege equipment in the “real” battlefield.
I would worry more about these poor human females with their T3 armour. brrrrrr~~~
So I would add those too to the list of the cloth-less ;-)
I just wanted to point out that using CET/CEST could be confusing. Especially for people playing from countries without summer/winter time.
Yes please, make a lot of movies and nice screenshots! I’d love to see see a bit of the GW2 holiday atmosphere and what amazing things the devs made for us.
Just like awsumsauce I can only addend a few hours.
(no I will not complain, visiting my friends an family is much more important to me than a computer game ;-) )
GMT is CET minus 1
But most of Europe is in CEST (summer time) in the summer which is GMT +2, and thus the confusion starts. (ok, this is not a problem now, but maybe in the future)
I agree that adding a GMT time would be nice, since it is the global reference time after all.
@ Rebound, the CoE dungeon and especially the complex it is located in (forgot it’s name now) clearly hint at 6 dragons as each room or encounter represents a dragon.
(or in case of Alpha, several).
Additionally in the durmand priory [sic?] there is a scholar reading some book that mentions 6 dragons fighting with the 5 ancient races.
The deep sea dragon (also known as Bubbles) seems to be clearly an existing one, (but I forgot where the confirmation comes from) and drives the aquatic races out (e.g. Quakkan, Krait).
The discussion revolves mainly around the 6th dragon that, as the CoE Lab suggests, is a nature/earth/plant dragon. There are some rather suggestive hints dropped that the plant-animals, and thus maybe the sylvari themselves, are closely connected to this dragon.
I think they are clearly not a neutral zone. If you go in there, expect a good battle. These player-triggered traps are in there for a clear reason.
I could however agree if you would suggest to make it a siege free zone. It’s like bringing a tank to knife-fight.
I can also find proof that the world will end in 11 days on google. The fact that you find hacks for GW2 via google doesn’t mean they actually work, or still work.
The guardian you saw can just as well be rendering issues. In jumping puzzles I sometimes see other players fall off and then suddenly “teleport” back to where they were.
mmm
I think it’s hard to reconcile with the existence of the Nightmare court and the fact that people that turn to the nightmare cannot turn back. (it feels as if some barrier inside the sylvaries mind is broken that cannot be restored)
(..)
Grind comes when you set your goals before your gameplay. If you look at what you like doing and based your expectations on that, you’ll “grind” a whole lot less.
I would like to add, " as soon as possible".
I set goals, but I don’t grind. I’ll get there eventually
from the top of my head
[esc] → support → report bug
I would love to be able to aquire my ascended items via some epic quests, scavenger hunt etc. (i.e. just by playing the game). But of course this requires the most work from the developers and is most prone to bugs.
There are some ledges above the big bad mob. Just run past him up the stairs. That gives you some breathingspace, just stepping back will put you out of his range (and allow you to heal up a bit). He himself seems to be frozen to the ground ,-).
This might also help killing the silver mobs to have them all stand in the same AoE’s.
Somehow the add actually despawned for some reason on the ledges about the the fighting area, but I guess it is some bug.
I really have my doubts if it is actually Rata Sum. In the fractal one of the sides of the triangle-shaped area (where you fight the 4 golems + raving asura) is facing the outside of the building, where as in Rata Sum they face the inside of Rata Sum.
Also not that for some reason, we don’t actually fight the asura himself.
That thread was only about ascended items, the new content was much more than that.
I am exited about the new map (and jp) and new dungeon.
If you’re only trying to farm t6 crafting materials you’re doing it wrong. You should be farming t5 materials and upgrading them. You will also get a few t6 drops in this process, too.
It’s very easy to get 100+ potent bloods in an hour or two from various spots in Frostgorge.
Yeah it’s a bit tedious but it’s a much more reliable method than actually seeking out just t6 crafting materials.
But I need those to craft rares and salvage them to get my ectoplasms.
But yes, if you have enough of the ecto’s is probably the best way to do it.
Please explain?
There is a recipe that uses the Exotic back-item from the dungeon shop + a gift of ascension (also from the dungeon shop) + Vial of Condensed Mists Essence + Crystals/Philosopher stones
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Prototype_Fractal_Capacitor_
OH! That’s good to know! I was unaware of this, it makes me much happier.
We don’t really “need” in the same way we don’t really “need” exotic items. But when you finished the Personal story, and are dressed fully in exotics (and map completion), then this gear is the last carrot to go chase. (and I think a carrot in a game is a good thing, it gives people something to do or aim for in a game.)
And this one doesn’t look particularly inspiring
