I though that queensdale is, technically, some kind of polder. There are these 2 huge dams on both sides of Divinities reach clearly holding back some water. (now don’t ask me why queensdale is not as flat as the Netherlands or why there are no mills taking care of the of the groundwater)
But for you suggestion, I don’t think any place in tyria is typical to one country. It’s a bit a mixture of everything. So don’t think you should single out one specific country to design a map around (not that I would mind a Dutch map of course ;-), no hills and just cows to fight).
I will leave the obvious jokes about a certain gathering material to future posters.
Would it help to reduce the quality of the graphics so that it all looks less real?
I think that maybe the druids have a hand in it. That would at least explain the elite skill of the sylvari and why Malyck is not evil.
But this is more a gut feeling rather than anything supported.
It seem that the introduction of ascended items was not really received with great enthusiasm.
Although I’m fairly neutral ‘bout this, the crafting prices as I see them for the current back item, don’t make me really enthusiastic either. It just looks like a long stretched and tedious process. And if the prices for the other ascended items are the same it would look nearly impossible for me to get within the lifetime of GW2. So what I’m posting here is a plea as much as a suggestion.
The plea would be something like: please make the crafting of ascended items not as tedious as crafting legendaries or exotics.
So my suggestion now. Make it exiting and engaging.
Most people probably want to upgrade their anyway, as to keep the cool designs. But I am pretty positive anet will have an “upgrade to ascended” option.
What about of the recipes would require, for example, and item that exclusively drops from the story mode bosses.
Or items that only drop from some champion mobs throughout the world
Or one that can only be picked up from the highest and deepest point in tyria
Or a component that require you to do some quest chain (instanced or not).
So components for the recipe that require you to explore the world and do something.
Something that requires a fair amount of time and dedications, but no repetitive killing about a 1000 mobs for the tier 6 mats or salvaging 50 rare/exotic drops.
So let’s see if we can find new and original ways to get,or upgrade to, ascended gear.
Increasing RAM to 3GB doesn’t work, GW2 doesn’t even want to start anymore.
My guild wars crashes regularly. Often when there is a lot happening (zerg/wvw) or when changing maps. The game just shuts down and allows me to send an error report (see below).
Normally I don’t complain about this, but now it becomes a problem for other people too, since I can’t rejoin fractals (how could this option be not implemented???)
Here is the error message (Anet should have about 200 of them fom me already ;-) )
My drivers are up to date.
I tried a suggstion by increasing my RAM to 3GB in the boot.ini as someone else suggested here. I’ll update the threat on the results.
Here is the crash report:

Another advice I can give is to turn of ‘double tap to evade’ It allows you to more easily position your toon without dodging off the platform to your demise.
I thought I saw something that resembled a broken Rata Sum…
aaaah, that’s also a way to read it.
Why didn’t they just say it will scale to the lowest level a party member reached.
You sure? I read “The dungeon will remember your progress, and will poll the party’s levels when you enter, scaling the dungeon to the highest common attained level.” as, you got to the highest dungeon level a member in your party attained.
But I don’t really know how to interpret “highest common attained level”
This is a bit worry some? What if one of my guild mates is very active and got incredibly deep with some party, in regions where without infused gear you die nearly instantly… I wouldn’t be able to party with this person if I don’t have the proper gear.
Although I defended in another thread that it isn’t gated content, it somehow ventures dangerously close to it.
And after that, if in some miraculous way we beat the dungeon, then my dungeon level will also be that incredibly deep dungeon level?
I have the feeling this requires some re-thinking :S
It is not gated, everybody can play it. Only the most difficult and deepest layers of the dungeon requires the infusions.
If this still falls in your definition of gated I am fine with “gated content”, but it would even turn every sport into gated content since you need professional equipment to be competitive on the highest level.
Somehow the OP is suggesting that the main motivation to play dungeons is to get more powerful gear….
If that’s the case I don’t see how the new tier is a bad thing, it will at least motivate the OP to play dungeons.
You are jumping to conclusions. You don’t know if they will update the dungeon rewards in the future or not. Or if there are reasonable forge recipes to upgrade your gear to ascended.
(although a bit of clarification on how they will implement this in the future wouldn’t be entirely unwelcome)
(…)
consequently increasing the rewards / chances of getting better loot.Same could be said for dragon events and many others.
This is all ingame already and i’d think it would be a matter of tweaking it.I might miss something, but what is the purpose of better loot if you are already full exotic?
I don’t think ‘better loot’ is in anyway a lasting concept for endgame.
…Better loot scaled with the difficulty and player actual lvl could be several things…
higher exotic drop chance
precursor drop chance
mats
different skins
consumables
and so on… pretty much anything that could be of some use other than vendor items, doesn’t need to be better but the higher the event difficulty, the higher the chances of something worthwhile item wise.
The discussion is about endgame, when the player already is fully geared with exotics.
then your argument only distillates(?) to “legendary crafting” as endgame-content.
All they said is they added a new tier of gear.
It seems full exotic is too easy to get, and legendary way too hard.
It didn’t say they will keep on adding new tiers all the time. They just phase in the new tier smoothly, starting with a back item and rings….
I do agree that the loop tables need some tweaking. I meant to say that increased loot by itself is no endgame. You need the cash and mats from your loot to get something out if eventually, something to use it on.
If there is no use for your mats and gold, any drop is as useful as a black lions chest.
I cannot believe people are actually crying about the ascended gear. The ’ gear treadmill’
will keep multiple people interested and it DOES NOT Prevent anyone from playing that content.inb4: Blind fanboys
In GW1 I could leave the game for 6 months, come back & be on even playing field. With upcoming addition, the same won’t hold true for GW2. After only 3 months we have minor increases to items. In another 3 months, likely another minor increase. Minor increases add up to large gear disparities. Creating a uneven playing field.
I couldn’t come back to GW1 to be on an even playing field. All my friends have heroes, and I don’t. (not gear, but still power creep and an “advantage”)
The only difference is that in GW2 I can play and catch up, and in GW1 I have to pay (buy EotN) and play.

To add to the discussion started by the OP a bit.
- More maps to explore.
- Additional chapters to the personal story (especially related to the lvl 1-20 stories), but this of course requires much more work than adding a new gear tier, especially since there are at least 3*5 story lines to work on. Additionally people play thought this probably within a day or so, so it’s dubious to call it endgame content.
- New skills that require some special actions/quests to unlock (gw1’ish) (powercreep ?!?!).
- Some new dungeon mode (although fractals is one of them)
- Raise the level cap in some non-game breaking way (but this will infuriate some players in whatever way you implement it).
*Some special infusion that adds cool effects to your weapon or armour (you have to grind a bit to get this one then :P )
Difficult to say how it will work out.
Most probably the deeper you go the better the loot will be, and also where the ascension gear will start to become a necessity.
Although you can experience the dungeon without ascension gear, it will be a necessity to join a pug that wants to go to the deepest chambers (for probably the best loot (although this is not confirmed, only what I think is most likely)).
Maybe it is a gear treadmill. As long as it is not a grind, I am perfectly fine with it.
It does give people a goal and direction when reaching level 80. Something to do.
I hope everybody noticed the “I am level 80, what now?” posts on the fora.
Personally I have a hard time imagining something else that would keep a level 80 player with full exotics playing. Yes there is a lot to do, but there is no goal (e.g. finall boss, max gear, unlocking all skills) (and legendaries are just too far off for most people). And unlocking skill has been done in GW1 already.
So this is simply one of the answers to “I am level 80, now what?”. Rather than complaining about a small gear treadmill, suggest something else for the level 80’s to do.
But I guess it’s a bit early to introduce this new kind of gear tier, and I really worry what it will do to power creep.
A reserved yes.
I guess a gear “treadmill” is not that bad, as long as it is not a grind. It does keep people work toward something. In GW1 it would probably be the unlocking of all elite skills, but since that’s not there, it does give people goal to work towards, that is not so insanely far of as legendaries.
New map, I love exploration. Again, main worries are the very probably server issues as we had with halloween, but this time including the guests.
they seem to be here, on another page
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Game_updates
although this is updated by the community, not Anet. I think Anet only posts the official updates on the forum, and leaves the wiki to the users.
But then your threat will be replaced by those complaining they can’t make any money because mats are so cheap on the TP.
Maybe following the line of betrayals in the prophecies campaign, he will turn out to be the 6th elder dragon!
Yes I noticed this. The pattern I think I see is that the infinite-spawning mobs don’t give drops. I guess to prevent people/bots from farming.
I think, and sincerely hope, that we’ll have more quests to our personal story in the future. Quests that build on those you have done the first 20 levels. A fair amount of them seem rather open-ended and mainly seemed to act as an introduction to the people you would spend some time with in future quests.
But I don’t think there is any official Anet statement on possible updates/expansions of this kind, but please correct me if I’m wrong.
Just putting this up here. Can the druids have something to do with the pale tree?
If the pale tree is some kind of champion of the nature elder dragon, it can be “uncorrupted”, just like Glint. I read somewhere that the Seer are responsible for Glint her “uncorruption”.
Could the druids have something to do maybe then with the “uncorruption” of the pale tree. That would at least partially explain why one of the elite skills of the sylvari is the summoning of a druid spirit.
I still think that the fact that “once you turn to the nightmare you can never turn back” is a very good argument of the sylvari being an Elder dragon’s minions, somehow it is the true nature of the sylvari to be evil….
Having an area 100% means you visited all marked points. That doesn’t mean you visited all areas. For example, you can have a map 100% but then later do the hidden jumping puzzle, you will get then exploration bonus from discovering the jumping puzzle (and it will then unfog from the map).
Order of Whisperers?
and then maybe one that is only accessible during a personal quest… maybe claw island?
What? In the GW2 you KNOW you get something good, because those tokens is your rare drop, or your exotic drop, however you want to use it.
GW2 removes the RNG on the rare/exotic drops with the token system.
(this obviously doesn’t work in story mode, something that will change in some way in the future)
maybe less bots or more people trying to create legendaries?
I think they are the 2 instanced area’s on the top floor. check some of those circular doors there.
In Aion they had also massive battles. There they completely dropped the character models of the different players. I guess this should severely reduce loading & rendering times in GW2 also.
Also don’t forget to clean your fans and radiators from dust once in a while.
If your fans are clogged up with dust they won’t cool as effective, and the chance of burning your CPU or GPU are increased.

They will add a new island (although not a large one, medium sized) and a new dungeon. Anet already confirmed this in a recent interview.
Which asura mission if may ask?
Just to add more suspension. If you visit one of the houses in the little village there is a one with on the top floor with several asura style machines. No NPC around at all.
And there is a big door to the east that is closed in the same village….
And the “misplaced” waypoint…
If something is screaming, “future content update” then it is the south east of Kessex Hills =)
You finished path 2 without any problems? really We wiped several times yesterday (pre-patch) and gave up on it. I can imagine a very skilled organised group finishing it, but without a problem? One hit by the static field and you were pretty much dead. That one golem was almost comparable to the fire-elemental O.o
Was this a stealth fix maybe?
Possibly. They didn’t seem to hit hard at all and I was constantly moving through them. I don’t think anyone was ever downed.
I can’t remember what the fire-elemental is that you’re refering to.
Good to hear, before we were pretty much downed in one go (especially overlapping ones). You could dodge 2 of them, but then the 3rd would hit and nearly down you.
The fire elemental is in the north west of the asura starting zone. It has been nerfed a bit already, and it is still a very brutal one, especially with many players around. (worth a check, also a pre-req for one of the boss-achievements)

If you only focus on bug fixes, people will leave the game because the content gets old.
If you only focus on new content, people will leave the game because everything is bugged.
A balance between the two would seem most appropriate.
(And the core of the game works fine, the problems seem only to occur on a local scale.)
I am really looking forward to this!
But it does make me wonder, IF tengu are going to be a playable race, where are they going to put the starter zone(s) for them then? The sea of sorrows looks like running out of space rather quickly.
Nice to find this post after a few whipes =(
Would it be possible to warn unsuspecting players beforehand in the future?
(sorry just need to loose some steam)
I don’t think the issue here is how you (a human) can find bots, since that’s generally rather easy, but how an automated script can find the bots.
How to make that script fool proof and not banning real people that are farming. Or a guild that for fun dresses up all the same way etc.
Considering that I saw already people complaining that you could get an achievement for the tower, I think the reward is fine as it is.
The boots are pretty fine, but definitely no “must-have”.
It’s a permanent feature as far as I understand.
So quickly rushing to get this title seems a bit silly to me.
Did you try putting all your graphic settings to the bare minimum.
Also I don’t have an amazing fps, but I was able to do it (eventually).
And many players could also get this achievement.
And you can’t.
Why should their fun and feeling of achievement be compromised because a small group of players can’t finish this achievement.
