" Achievements should be something that are achievable by your complete player base (and yes some with significant effort)."
I don’t hear you complain about the HoM achievements.
People that reach the top of the tower really DID achieve something, why not get an achievement for it?
The biggest problem was that because of the announcement so many people were online that time, it caused a massive server overload. And I am a bit surprised Anet was not prepared for that.
(the latter being my only complain about whole of Halloween by the way)
I must be in the top 10 of failed tries, but after 8 to 10 hours I FINALLY got it.
With a sylvari mesmer =)
It says 19:00 GMT on the website, so I don’t think there can be a confusion with the dates.
What you DO have to take care of is daylight saving times, that change that weekend!
You misunderstood, the event is the costume brawl, the pumpkin carving, the four acts, opening Trick-or-treat doors finding ToT-bags, gathering candy corn and exploring the redesigned Lion Arch. (I might have missed some though)
The specials skins are a nice extra for the lucky and dedicated.
You want to have every player and their grandma walking around with the Halloween themed weapons for the rest of the year?
That’s why they are hard to make/get. Same for any other unique skin.
You can still get the temporary skins somewhere in LA if you wish to. Why don’t you use that option?
although the lvl 80 gear is the one with the unique skin! the lvl 45 one is generic armour skin
Aren’t they empty because the story lines actually don’t go there (yet)?
You could try with an alt?
would be nice to be able to get a replacement without this workaround though
I am absolutely positive that they test their dungeon & patches before they put them in. I just wonder how they test them. It doesn’t seem they actually play through them, and if they do, then I really want to know what kind of tactics they use.
Should this maybe also include the story mode?
It does seem that the nightmare is the “groundstate” of the sylvari.
It is really the part that, once you turn to the nightmare you can never turn back. Something accentuated on the first story arc (at least for me, the shield of the moon). I think that is maybe one of the clearest indication of the sylvari being some kind of dragon-minions that were somehow “anti-corrupted”.

“Devil Horns can no longer be put into the Mystic Forge and are now available again for free via the Gem Store (these will be available in a few hours, 10am PDT)”
The infinite spawn was a bug. See update notes
It will start everywhere at the same time. No exact time has been given.
That’s all I can add to the conversation, this was the only dev post on this topic.
flowers? bring condition removal or just kill them outright
The main problem for me is that they respawn where I stand, and go off before I have chance to kill them.
And my condition removal skill has a rather long cooldown =(
Not easier, just less tedious/frustrating.
I think if the TA flowers stopped respawning, the fun level of TA would increase ten fold :P
At least make them stop respawning where I stand >.<
In TA and CM to a slightly lesser degree, these fights are tedious. Take too long, there are too many of them, and you have a reasonable chance of dying. (Everybody hates those violent blooms (sic?))
Although personally I don’t like skipping content at all, I can understand people cheese through these dungeon.
I mean, why fight the one-shotting boss in the middle of VB’s with up to 6 adds that do massive damage if you can stand in an unreachable spot for the monsters and slowly kill if from there risk free :P
CM butler-path, final boss way too easy. Just stands there :S.
Comparing it with the D&D movie some years ago? Personal story (ps) not THAT bad.
I kinda enjoy it, but yea, the story is sometimes a bit cheesy. You have to see through the mediocre voice acting a bit (think about how many lines each of the main character had to say! for each personality, each dungeon path, each background choice etc. !). Then it’s pretty enjoyable. I mainly use it for a guide on where to go next.
I do hope they will advance the ps in future expansions and updates, and hopefully come back more on the earlier choices we made for character creation. There are some stories at least that look pretty unfinished (the dreamless sylvari) or some choices in the character creation that look almost unused (day cycle or what god you are blessed by)
(..)
What about make more “activities” to all capital city?(Just like the Charr one).
(..)
There is something in the charr one?
I would like to see a DR-pub crawl activity ;-)
I remember this one from the beta.
It took me a long time to find, but there is a hard-to-find cave in the water that leads to where they are taken prisoner.
You can throw them in the mystic forge.
It’s the only use I see for outdated karma items =(
I see it as impolite since the message in /map are directed to all players in the map, independent of their native language. If you speak to all people in the map, you should make sure all the people in the map can understand it.
I would see it as an unwritten etiquette that in international public (map) talk you speak English (you are from the Benelux, so that should really be no problem at all ;-) ). Feel free to use your own language in /say or whispers or whatsoever.
I do agree that reporting goes too far.
So, there is no rule against it, but it could be considered impolite to speak in your own language in the public channel.
It resembles League of Legends a quiet a bit.
What would be the goal, destroying the other team’s barracks?
Because the story line quests are spaced about 3 levels apart.
Only if it is purely aesthetic, no stats or names, just a close inspection on the look of the armour
I will just link the wiki, spoiler at your own risk ;-)
I have no idea.
the jumping puzzle is nearby though, can’t you reach that place maybe via the jumping puzzle?
OMG PLEASE remove the revive icon form above Mesmer illusions

I sometimes even start to resurrect myself :P
I thought this is already the case, but just not 100% of the time.
I know for example there is an ettin cave in queensdale guarded by a veteran ettins and a lot of ettins. Inside the cave there is a rich copper vein and several small ones.
I have seen rich nodes outside these guarded places, but those seem to be be placed randomly throughout the world (and change always).
Just a small note. Don’t forget to report ads on websites to their respective advertisement company (often google). I am pretty sure that what these goldsellers do is illegal, and google (or the advertisement company) wouldn’t want to work with them.
If you insist on keeping this armor stupid expensive, atleast consider giving us some cheaper skins to use that resemble the culture armor.
Those are your T1 and T2 cultural armors/skins. Just use your transformation stones.
And reduces server load!
I made threat about it earlier, but it died away with 19 views and 0 replies. I can’t think of anything negative about this suggestion, hence the repetition.
I would suggest an increase in drop rate for long-living monsters, the same way they have an experience bonus now (maybe reduce the experience bonus a bit to balance). This does allow for farming materials, but forces the farmer to search every nook and cranny of the map/world, which is exactly what the developers intended.
Additionally, I would guess a system like this would require human intuition and reasoning, and thus makes it incredibly hard to script for bots.
Skills:
- Ether Clone (Scepter #1)
The Clone that spawns from Ether Clone (or clones that spawn with the Scepter in the Main-Hand, in general) has no secondary effect tied to its attack and it is pretty much useless in that regard. All other Clones have at least some effect tied to their #1 (and GS-Clones can at least be viably traited for Bleed stacking, due to the 3-hit nature of the #1)
Solution: Give the Scepter #1 an additional effect.
What about adding an object combo-finisher? it seems mesmers have a slight lack of those (only 2 skills currently, if I remember correctly)
What about increasing the drop rate for monsters that live long. Now we get a bunch of bonus-XP (which most of don’t really need, or sometimes don’t even want).
It would “force” people that want good drop off the main roads, and promote what is the general idea behind the game (exploration). It would turn the “farmers” into “hunter-gatherers”.
what do you think?
I have never really played other mmorpg’s very actively (I played a bit of Aion and WoW beta). What is in these games actually involved in getting the best in-game gear? How often do you have to do your favourite dungeon/raid? how much do you have to creaft & gather with what % of success?
I see so much complaining about the grindy nature of getting GW2 top-tier gear, it would be nice to see how it compares to the other games out there. (I honestly don’t know)
Or they use it for crafting?
It kinda clashes with the idea that we have to be mobile in combat. You should be mobile, but not too mobile!
I sometimes forget I can actually sell gear ;-)
I think just inspecting for the looks of the gear should be possible. Just the gear, no stats or what so ever. As I said earlier, a ‘gear-vista’.
People use a lot of time to get the good looking gear and in the character creator, it’s a nice way to show your creations without affecting the game play. At the moment it is possible to see some ones armour, but only until he/she runs away, or clips into another nearby character.
Rather than resetting the sever, why not just reset the event-script if it has been inactive for too long.
It should be detectable in some way that a bar never moved, or that the event has been active for 3 hours without being finished, or that some wave either never spawned or was never killed (suggesting it is stuck somewhere).
Please put some orange circle or something else around mobs that are invulnerable because some gameplay related things (e.g. reset because the player is out of aggro range, or the mobs are scripted to move to some certain point for an event).
At least make it clear to the players that they don’t have to waste their cooldown on these mobs =)
Since this game is a lot about getting cool cosmetics and dyes, it would be nice to show it off to your fellow players. So just an option to see somebodies gear would be kinda neat. No need to show the stats (or even names), something like a “gear-vista” ;-)
you should be able to buy at the TP or craft with an armour-crafting craft, get an “invisible bag”, which does exactly that.
