Just wondering, anyone has lost the motivation to play with this patch? For me, has been the final nail on the coffin.
Yes, big time. I haven’t felt like playing since the update. I still have logged in briefly a few times but I’m overall dissatisfied with the update to the point where I just can’t be bothered. I don’t know if it will last long but for the time being I definitely need a break.
The new LA, the new wallet, the fact that we don’t get booted out of royal terrace on character swap/logout, and the new jumping puzzle were nice… but the sluggish mobility along with everything else not so much.
(edited by Purple Miku.7032)
They need to really do a close look at Quickness and Slow before they Chronomancer comes out.
Yeah I’m not looking forward to the game getting more broken than it has become from this new patch so I agree with that.
Probably the only PvE related content they will ever take into consideration when making balance changes would be future releases like in this upcoming expansion.
For Shoggroth, what are the best ways to keep burning up post patch? What about immobilization?
I know Warrior can still just use Combustive Shot, Fan of Fire, Pin Down and Throw Bolas.
Also, are his projectiles unblockable?
Hey, first of all his projectiles are unblockable and unreflectable. Secondly, they cannot be power blocked with the mesmer trait because I think it’s an autoattack (which is all he has). Not sure if this information is valuable to you at all but I figured I would include it anyways.
As for the burning… warrior only has longbow F1 and fan of fire, but if elementalists are in the group they can trait for it with both burning precision and arcane precision, but additionally they can cast glyph of storms in fire attunement, use the signet of fire active, use staff’s flame burst and a lot more. One elementalist is more than enough to maintain permanent burning until 75% hp.
So pve is really an anything-goes now?
They achieved the viability of EVERYTHING at the cost of braking what was the best beforscrew the meta, ill play condi ele XD
It has always been this way.
Everything has always been capable of working. I don’t know why this is surprising to anyone :S
Warrior had some of the lower end personal DPS for around a year now, but with the 6/23 patch they have some of the highest personal DPS once again. However, thief and elementalist both still blow warrior out of the water.
In all cases, berserker is still best.
I completely agree.
I agree with the OP.
This game would be better off with the old system.
There’s less build diversity, way too high of damage, way too much simplification of core game mechanics and too much has been broken.
The changes that I liked were the new LA, the new jumping puzzle, and the new wallet. Everything else is horrible.
Everything on this game is viable.
I would like it more if it weren’t for the obscene damage. Have posted this elsewhere, but it feels like I entered a cheat code for God Mode regardless of whether or not I play warrior, elementalist, or guardian… but warrior and elementalist especially.
Dealing higher damage than pre-ferocity is pretty crazy. o_O
It’s possible to make that skip on all classes without engaging in combat if you know it and your class well enough.
If you’re getting chilled it’s because of the elite risen elementalists. If you really have trouble with those elite mobs around the corner after ooze then you can try fearing them right when you approach them, as it will give you a few seconds of safety.
As for the oozes… you won’t get hit by them as long as you have swiftness and don’t stop moving. When you run past the little oozes up top before the crystallines, run along the left side so that they don’t path to the light because it’s really annoying when doing the crystalline entities with a million oozes and elite drakes spewing poison gas everywhere.
Sure here’s my response to each of your four things
1.) https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Defeat_Mordremoth%27s_champion_
It is a misconception that ranging this boss is the efficient way to kill it, just as it is anywhere.
2.) If you bring leg specialist you lose empowered and minimally 2% damage loss as long as you’re readily using your elite, but probably higher around 4% or more if you’re near a lot of others. Stripping defiance is not the job of a warrior and if it is, using mace 5 is what you should be doing not rifle 5.
3.) You can also keep bosses crippled with bladetrail and throwing axe, but why does it matter? If you want to avoid damage then just dodge and if anything else is needed take sword offhand for block then. You don’t have to range bosses to avoid damage.
4.) If you want vuln then use mace 4 for a cleaved 10 vuln on 15 second cooldown. https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Crushing_Blow
Taking a rifle in a party is pointless because you deal abysmal damage and provide nothing unique that other weapons can’t do better. I’m assuming you are talking about dungeons/fractals here because if you are talking about world boss zergs none of the people there are paying attention to anything that others are using either way but rather whether or not people are dead and not waypointing.
(edited by Purple Miku.7032)
I would like rifle to be good so that I would have an excuse to make predator as it’s one of the coolest legendaries in my opinion.
Sadly if I made one I would never get to see it.
If you happen to be downleveled while looking at your stats, then you are observing the New and Improved Super-Downscaling. Allegedly, 66% less DPS while downleveled. Enjoy!
To compensate for the abysmal DPS in lower leveled zones, they made us brokenly overpowered in the high level ones.
Balance!
Well kitten. So I straight up can’t make a viable rifle build at all in this game? Thats incredibly disappointing.
Most classes have a weapon that’s useless in a gamemode/multiple gamemodes/many situations.
In the case of warrior, rifle is basically garbage in all gamemodes and hammer is awful in PvE yet really good in PvP and WvW.
Heh, did they just confirm that they don’t have a test server?
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Things-we-know/page/2#post5200018
I really hope he just meant public test server.
Good on him, though. He actually posted a thread and then followed up with it!
Pleased dlonie is pleased.
I can confirm that they do in fact have a test server, as I was playing on it for a few days.
The only problem is they have no way to test it with large groups of people so there will always be things they massively overlook.
They basically have to get on individually and test changes like that, they could maybe get a few other devs on to test content like that but most of the time that doesn’t happen.
What I think he meant was that there is no public testing server, which is true
I kind of think it’s pointless too because they pretty much openly declared that they plan to be nerfing things as they are aware of how overpowered everyone’s damage is, especially condi builds.
I expect lots of traits to change.
Dunno. I already wish the patch did not happen because right now it feels like it did during the early days when I played SNES and entered cheat codes for games that I played. It was highly entertaining at first to have god mode, but its appeal greatly diminishes. I expected buffs but not on this magnitude I guess.
Erm no offense to you but it’s rubbish and pointless considering even poorly coordinated groups are overpowered at the moment and will kill bosses before any cleansing is needed.
If you aren’t taking fast hands, you aren’t going to swap weapons. That’s a fairly obvious rule for warriors.
There’s only two real variants for PS builds now. If condi cleanses are ever needed for whatever reason leave it to another class that’s able to provide it without senseless DPS losses.
Also what’s with the dolyak signet? You don’t slot things like that in groups… >.>
Hi Jon,
I just want to throw this video your way to let you guys know that you may need to consider some of the drawbacks with this “Slow” implementation:
It behaves as intended, but it allows for serious trivialization of the current content in situations like this.
I think this is worth looking into…
I legitimately don’t understand why this is a big deal to anyone.
Why are there reddit threads and multiple threads on the official forums about this of all things considering all of the eventful changes that have taken place lately? :/
It’s just an NPC guys. There’s no reason to be grossed out by it nor is there a reason to rejoice over it.
I’ll update it when I’m confident about what’s best to use. There are some pretty large changes so it will take me time to figure out what to edit to exactly.
I would love raids so much.
I also would love if for fractals reset the instance on wipe too but I can imagine why they would not do it because people could just roll for level 1 Mai Trin and champ farm off the inquest guy at the start, for example. Same with the champ effigy at Molten Duo.
Instanced content greater than 5 people sounds like fun. I’d like it!
But only if it’s not zergy.
Heya, I’ve got the VODs for what I went over.
Unfortunately there wasn’t quick enough communication between me and ArenaNet so they weren’t able to provide adequate gear and sigils that I asked for so that I could properly test damage with the new meta builds, so I wasn’t able to do nearly as much as I wanted to.
I wanted to show rotations for ele, but it had nothing but a staff and there is a bug on the stage client where you cannot swap weapons because they all are “soulbound to another character.” xD
I disconnected at one point during the stream so the ele broadcast has two parts.
Sorry for the lack of mic.
Warrior: http://www.twitch.tv/purpleishawt/v/6482959
Elementalist Part 1: http://www.twitch.tv/purpleishawt/v/6483060
Elementalist Part 2: http://www.twitch.tv/purpleishawt/v/6483127
The warrior rotation was just on the fly, I can tell you right now I forgot to maintain Stick & Move for the additional 10% damage modifier by dodging periodically. I was a little fixated on the blinking icon for Berserker’s Power, trying to make sure I maintained it. ^^
(edited by Purple Miku.7032)
Ah, so you were trying to cripple Fyonna… well in that case!
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Fiery_Whirl
It cripples as well and actually since you have two of them when you spawn it, you can stack cripple longer than rocky can.
Btw she will only move if you’re close range (and targeting her might have something to do with it too but not sure). There are a lot of mobs that have this sort of AI but if you max melee her she will not distance herself from you. Also btw her trick shot attack bounces, so that would be another problem with rock elemental is he could cause you to take more damage… but she dies fast enough for it to not be a huge deal.
So for example if your friend was a staff ele as well and you stood at ~400 range she’d stay put.
(edited by Purple Miku.7032)
This is indeed cool, I liked the Malrona a lot. Probably the best duo of it I’ve seen, but I’m not sure if the trait setup you chose was best… wouldn’t have made much of a difference if there was a setup that was slightly better anyways, the idea itself was great.
There are a few things I think you could have done better though (mostly directed to the ele POV, as that’s the one I watched):
1) I don’t think 62222 with fire signet is better than 64202 for Fyonna because you didn’t maintain 90% hp for nearly any of the fight. You end up with like 4% higher crit chance and gain about ~7% higher DPS with it (arcane lightning is about 3% DPS increase), but in this case you ended up being about 7% worse than you would have been 64202.
2) Since you LOSed Fyonna into the hallway, using fgs would have been a lot better of a choice. Rocky is useless here unless you were trying to take advantage of his cripple (which I doubt), but either way fiery whirl would have been greater burst especially since she was near a wall.
3) How come you bugged the warden? This would’ve been a great restricted run if it weren’t for that :<
4) Fgs would have been better DPS on nightmare tree too, but not sure if you wanted the fire elemental to distract the sylvari mortar turrets… either way it could’ve been better, and I think autoattacking with the LH on your part was a bad idea and you should’ve just used #4 and dropped it.
5) Ever try ele/ele duo instead of thief/ele duo? On all of the parts that you stealthed at you could’ve easily done the appropriate stealth duration with just harpy feather + order of whispers spykit although you would have had to begin the run to the corner by malrona with obsidian flesh probably. You would have had better DPS but you would’ve lacked the smokescreens.
Well that is my input. Once again, nice job!
(edited by Purple Miku.7032)
Warrior damage was nerfed but not anywhere the near 80%. It seems pretty obvious to me that Warlord was just exaggerating to get the point across that the nerfs accumulated to huge losses overall.
From before ferocity rolled out up until right about now, warrior’s DPS with 65003 was nerfed by roughly 30%. This is an estimate based off of the damage used to hit compared to what I hit now.
But the thing about this 30% number is that some of the larger nerfs weren’t warrior-exclusive and affected all classes. The major damage nerf that was warrior exclusive was done to hundred blades and whirlwind which were overall unjustified. Nothing about warrior was really overpowered in my opinion other than healing signet and phalanx strength (which still is tbh), but evidently they disagreed.
It doesn’t matter anymore to me however, since the changes overall for PvE warrior are beneficial and surprisingly we’re finally seeing positive changes for our class in numerous places.
The only two large complaints that I have are:
a) Arms has some overall pretty crappy options, especially at the Master level. :/
b) Banners were nerfed pretty badly due to the inspiring banners trait being completely removed. I would have expected this to become either baseline or for sure left in the tactics line, as it is one of the most often used traits in dungeons/fractals. It’s bizarre to me that they completely removed it.
(edited by Purple Miku.7032)
Anything works in PvE, i don’t think you should worry too much about that
The same can be said about PvP and WvW.
You can literally completely every single part of the PvE content with any build you would like to.
can not say the same to PvP and WvW
you can roam in wvw with whatever build you want. you can zerg with whatever build you want. you can hotjoin with whatever build you want, you can solo queue with whatever build you want.
so yeah, you can.
you literally just talked about 66% of the content in PvP and call it 100%?
and no, you can’t run any build you want in soloq, unless loosing means success in your book
Ok, so you are now arguing that some PvP and WvW is too difficult to pull off using non-meta/random builds.
I would also like to point out that likewise, the same can be said in PvE dungeon and fractal records. You cannot compete with the records set that were rehearsed repeatedly sometimes for hours on end if you want to use terrible builds.
Source: http://gw2dungeons.net/Records
Every time I see some person talking about how PvE is boring and easy and PvP is the opposite it makes me laugh and roll eyes. This entire game caters to a casual audience regardless of PvE, WvW, and PvP. Everything can be casually executed. GW2 is by design intended to be conquered by any player using any class, any race, any gender, any gear, any traits, any builds.
Any exclusion to that is arbitrary.
The last time I soloed Lupi was just for “fun” on various classes after they broke him. Haven’t done it since; best boss in the game being broken is too soulcrushing.
How was it broken? Have not done Arah in months, and never solo Lupi so I am curious.
The ranged autoattack from phase 2 and phase 3 now hits in melee.
And his bubble virtually always misses and now is totally a non-threat (in fact, triggering it is basically a “good” thing now because it means more time before he does something that might actually harm you), so all of the positional skill of not triggering the bubble in phase 3 is moot.
It still will accurately hit non-players for some reason, like rock elementals.
Also if you are max meleeing him the bubble will still hit you, and also if you are dodging forward into him while he is casting it then the bubble will be accurately placed.
So it is/can be a threat depending on what you use to evade his previous attack with. For example if you whirlwind through him to evade an autoattack and then quickly try to close the gap by approaching him and he decides to bubble, it will hit you.
It is really stupid either way.
This is a horrible proposal.
Not only would you kill off build diversity by implementing this change but you would be making warrior significantly weaker.
Strength tree has berserker’s power and slick & move, so you’re losing out on over 30% personal damage with just the modifiers alone by not using it (actually 40% if you factor in the 10% damage from forceful greatsword). It would be absolute rubbish to use a phalanx build without it so if you’re wanting to dungeons and fractals without GS on a warrior and still be effective, it won’t be possible. It isn’t possible to have both right now and it won’t be after the patch.
So you have a choice here to make – do you want to play with efficiency in mind or play with a random build that’s way less efficient but more fun for you? Pick your poison, but you’ll have to deal with getting kicked out of groups more often if you pick the latter.
Dungeon Staff Zerker
http://dulfy.net/gw2traits#build=AgABmAJoA1Q~
Heal: Glyph or Arcane Brilliance
Arcane Wave, Glyph of Storms and Frost Bow
Too much fury?http://dulfy.net/gw2traits#build=AgABWAJ0BVg~
Same skills
No, this is quite off.
For group runs I’m thinking along the lines of this:
http://dulfy.net/gw2traits#build=AgABWAP0ArQ~
You would strive to cast ice storms whenever in water for the 20% damage modifier. You begin the fight with lightning storm > swap to water and do ice bow, then probably swap to earth and do eruption and camp fire with lava font from thereon out. I’m not sure if fire attunement would be off cooldown in a normal fight when swapping out of fire again, so if it is then skip the eruption. Will see soon enough.
For solo play I’m thinking this will be the general best setup:
http://dulfy.net/gw2traits#build=AgABWAP0Baw~
Obviously final shielding is an option but to be honest the only reason arcana is useful is because of renewing stamina and bountiful power. 66060 can work for solo play as well but in low man settings going 66006 would be the post-patch equivalent of for example 64004 currently.
And obviously for both builds, tempest defense is not always applicable and should just be swapped to whatever else is most relevant in the circumstance. Same with ferocious winds.
P.S. – Still bummed about arcane ferocity being scrapped. RIP
Anything works in PvE, i don’t think you should worry too much about that
The same can be said about PvP and WvW.
since I usually do not do arah p3, and have not done it in a while, I was wondering when they put this wall on top of the coral near hunter crusher?
~2 months ago if I had to guess.
Funny thing is, they did literally nothing but help make it easier to leap over the wall because putting that barrier makes sure you won’t accidentally aggro one of the two elite mobs.
Silly Anet…
Take a look at the Arena Net website, just the front page ( https://www.arena.net/ ) and tell me does that not look like a happy place? Just from looks alone I would rather work there than where I do now. It looks so inviting. These people have a passion for this game and here we are slinging mud at their “baby” all because of our sense of entitlement. For shame!
Lol… don’t be fooled.
Do you think any official website wants to give you any other impression other than it being a super happy funtime workplace that also happens to be the best ever etc etc?
There’s a lot more to it than what you see there. All businesses have their secrets that they don’t want you to find out. ArenaNet is no different in this case.
I don’t mind your super optimistic point of view with this, but sometimes a reality check is in order.
As for the rest of the post… I don’t feel like this is the beginning of a healthy discussion. You do not know the aftermath of the expansion and you criticize others for lashing out about the preordering and basically implying they are being childish, but I don’t see your behavior as any better OP.
Bragging about something that has yet to happen is pretty pointless if you ask me.
(edited by Purple Miku.7032)
Wow 30%? Isn’t that a bit too much? I have both Warr and Ele at 80 so I guess I’ll have to check on both.
No, it’s definitely not too much.
Warrior’s personal damage has been in a really terrible state for a while now. However, I do feel like Phalanx Strength oversimplifies might accumulation. If anything is too much, it’s the Phalanx Strength trait.
There is no RNG involved. The spawning order is always same. You only have to kill storm spirit once and leave the rest alive.
Actually there is, because sometimes you will get the spawns that will keep moving towards bloomhunger until they inevitably end up in your cleave. There is a small chance that you will get a spawn that ends up far away and doesn’t continuously approach the boss.
This is the RNG I am referring to, not the specific type of spirit. When I say “including no storm spirit” it means that you can’t have a storm spirit alive in order to consistently go through your DPS rotations in a speedkill.
(edited by Purple Miku.7032)
Im sure is gonna be a stupid question, but here it goes. Why storm spirit is not buffing bloomhunger?
Because there is no storm spirit. For speedkills you have no choice but to pre-kill the spirits until you get the appropriate RNG involving no storm spirit, and you have one person stay in the instance within enough distance to be able to see bloomhunger and the spirits will never despawn.
Slightly off topic but I heard about your ~6:30 warrior solo with 56003 spamming eviscerates for endurance. It is a good idea.
Truth be told I kinda stopped caring around when ferocity came out. I think there will maybe be some renewed interest after next week’s patch but I don’t know how long it will last.
They had to adjust the difference between exotic and ascended because for the longest time ascended gave absolutely no benefit over exotic in areas below level 80. That is obscene since there’s only one level 80 dungeon aside from fractals, and I think this change is actually a good one. There should be a difference in attributes regardless of what map you’re in.
Those notes are most likely a hoax as Anet has never sent detailed patch notes to 3rd parties before actual patch release.
Umm, I can say with 100% certainty that this is false. They definitely have actually.
The main problems with the traits that I see are the loss of damage modifiers and the fact that you can’t have UC with master of consecrations at the same time.
This really blows. I don’t feel motivated to play my guardian much at all anymore. There’s no scepter power 10% modifier anymore and no powerful blades 10% modifier either.
What a shame. Evidently they must want less people to play this class in PvE for some reason.
So… Inspiring Banners didn’t become baseline?
WTF.
One of the most often-used group traits in PvE was completely removed? Really?
I didn’t forget to include, my camera was just facing ahead so I didn’t see it happen from my POV… noob.
2. people were exploiting to get outside of maps.
If they think I need swiftness to goat they are sorely mistaken.
As one of the most active members of rT I can reassure everyone that the majority of us were too lazy and distracted to even sit through the last meeting, let alone care about monopolizing the administration over records.
We’ve been labeled as inactive for a reason you know. Most of our players are just waiting on the expansion.
Wethospu immediately left rT when he took on his role that he has now and while he used to be a part of the guild it’s a thing of the past now. Please don’t make baseless claims about us trying to take over the records. We actually disagree with each other on quite a few of the rules.
(edited by Purple Miku.7032)
Well, I sadly cannot participate in your next trio tournament Nike because I refuse to be seen on stream wallsploiting Lupicus. Sorry. :x
OT: I don’t understand why rules would be added or removed randomly like this if we all voted for them to be banned in the first place…? Surely they were banned to begin with because we did not want them to be done in group settings/record runs.
EDIT: Ah now I see.
Guys look at the old polls. There was this question:
“How to decide encounter specific rules? (expired 06/08/2015)
A) Decide case by case with voting. Allows exceptions.
B) Wethospu decides based on rules.
C) Either way is fine.
A: 4 (44%), B: 5 (56%), C: 0 (0%),"
So it is no wonder this happened. I wasn’t the one who voted on this poll otherwise I would have personally voted A.
R.I.P. my fault for not bothering to look at the poll. :/
(edited by Purple Miku.7032)
@Miku, regarding archdiviner not being stunned, this might explain why -> click
Weird… still seems silly to me to have to stand under him for him to be stunned. It doesn’t seem intentional because I can’t imagine why someone would want to design it this way but thanks for the post nonetheless.
Can’t you keep distance and watch for a teleport on the mini map while he stealths to avoid that issue? Just wondering if I’m understanding what you’re talking about, but yes I do hate his stealth attacks as well, very annoying.
Ok so his normal gouge attack always works like this:
1. Fake throw
2. Super fast throw that pretty much can’t be side strafed (the one that applies the bleed)
3. Gouge
Problem is he interrupts his own attacks sometimes and will literally be perma stealthed until he hits you. The way it seems to work is he is attempting to do two attacks simultaneously so it ends up in him vanishing with no animation. Then he will just infinitely throw the super fast dagger throw at you until he’s within gouge range and gouge you from stealth with no animation. The red marker on the minimap sometimes can stop updating his position for a few seconds and doesn’t accurately represent where he is, so it is not reliable enough to make sure you don’t get destroyed by it. Warrior can circumvent this problem if they have defiant stance off cooldown because if you let him hit you, he will be “fixed” temporarily. Unless he hits you, he will stay bugged.
You can tell when he bugs if when he vanishes, you see no harpy feather animation. The attack he interrupts is his fake throw.
Other examples of bosses interrupting their own attacks:
-Bloody Victoria in CM P1 interrupting her stun+backstab with a dagger autoattack, leaving you curious as to how you survived when you had no aegis/stunbreak for it.
-Berserker Abomination and Alphard in Arah P2 I have seen interrupt long channeled
attacks with other ones. For example Alphard will interrupt her rapid fire with a scorpion wire like 1 second into the animation. I’ve seen this very often.
-Simin in Arah P4 interrupting her own spin attack to go invulnerable into hiding, resulting in you having a free 45 seconds to DPS her (sparks appear even though she did not disappear).
I have also seen the same problem happen to Lupicus and a lot of other bosses so it seems pretty obvious the issue has nothing to do with individual bosses. It just so happens to be the case for Mossman it can result in getting hit over 26k damage with literally no chance to reactively avoid it.
I’m still trying to figure out why you losd Tar.
Anyways aside from few weird builds and utilities nice run and good job
Because it’s not our preferred strategy, we went there because we could not keep 100% immobilize uptime without the thief there and wanted to have tempest defense for the entire opening burst.
We have ideas to do tar much faster but since I will be busy today and there will supposedly be nerfs tomorrow, we decided it would be best to just upload this in case we lose out on the opportunity due to game builds changing.
For dungeons I definitely am going to go with svanigandir, and for fractals I will narrow it down between the three:
-Imbued shaman
-Mossman
-Last encounter archdiviner
Problem with imbued shaman I have is he bugs sometimes in shield phases and randomly will swipe up a villager on the opposite end of the map even if he’s nowhere near any villagers. Also, the kitten bugged burning from the floor.
Problem I have with mossman is the stealth-gouge bug. It’s really kitten annoying. Pretty much no one will know what I am talking about unless they try to solo or low man him… but once it happens to you a few times you will understand it’s stupid. Other than that he is a great fight.
Last encounter archdiviner is really good altogether but I don’t like that you have to stand next to him for him to get stunned when the seal is hit as well. It does not seem like it was intended and many many times have I stood directly under him and he still attacks. This is just annoying. If it were not for this he would be the top of my list.
It makes me sad that we don’t have time to explore all of our ideas for strategies, as this could be done ~a min faster, but at the same time I’m glad we have something to share.
RIP ice bow and RIP mobility, things will never be the same.
This Lupicus though… one of our worst ones ever ;_;
Anyways, best part of it all is always the bloopers/outtakes!
1) if you ever plan to do fractals you’ll want a guardian. above 29 its kitten near a requirement.
Lolwut
Umm… no… definitely not. They make everything easier regardless of what level it is but I have no idea what leads you to believe that 30 and up needs guards…
