Well you could test it. Go to heart of the mists and autoattack with axe, record your numbers for a minute without applying any boons to yourself. Test the same thing but the next time use signet of rage and see if you notice a 3% damage increase from having swiftness, fury, might. That’s what I would do.

If it works, then ayyy.

If not, something’s wrong.

The trait before the patch “Inspiring Banners,” which increased the radius of warrior’s banners and reduced the cooldowns of them from 120 seconds to 90 seconds, was supposed to be merged with the trait “Inspiring Battle Standard” in the Discipline specialization.

This was confirmed already on a livestream, but it seems that it was forgotten before the patch went live.

I along with almost all warriors would appreciate our trait back please!

To be honest considering how OP damage is now since the update, it would be inappropriate for them to revert his autoattack at this point.

^ this

Even with the auto attack hitting in melee range you can cheeze down Lupi with 2+ ppl. If they would change this, Lupi would be a complete joke for groups.

Solo stuff is something different, but dont you want some kind of challange, when you do solo stuff?!

The problem is it’s not mechanically challenging at all, it’s just a build check. If I wanted something challenging, I wouldn’t really go for a boss that’s like almost entirely a combination of the right build and RNG. If you knew his attacks before his autoattack started hitting everywhere, there’s nothing more challenging about him.

An example of something that I considered to be a challenge to complete was almost a year ago when I did a mossman solo for the first time. There’s almost no RNG involved in this boss encounter other than when he decides to stealth and whether or not he goes bear form.

The reason I bring this up is because I find the complaints about the autoattack pretty justified, because I don’t really find him a whole lot fun anyways.

I still however stand by what I said and that unless they tone down everyone’s damage, they may as well make him as obnoxious as possible to compensate for it.

I think most people don’t do it because it’s not widely known for pugs, making the path too far out of their comfort zone. The same thing for cof p3 usually and aetherpath.

“This is very easily doable with executioner axe and full berserker, but that axe is banned from restricted runs as it’s a gem store item. GS rush and bull’s charge were just nerfed to the ground with this last patch so cleric’s isn’t an option anymore, it is required if you do not have the axe. The only thing that might not be required would be perhaps the medical kit, but I’m thinking maybe you would need full exotic clerics for that or something… prove me wrong if you can!”

There’s a lot of hideous heavy armor, don’t get me wrong, but there are some very solid choices.

T3 cultural heavy armor is a really really nice set, for one. The problem is that because there’s not many options that don’t look ridiculous, it’s tough to be original and look good at the same time.

I also am not very pleased with the earth traitline and feel that if they didn’t remove the stone splinters trait, LH builds wouldn’t be so bad in PvE.

I can’t comment from the PvP scene but there are some PvE related problems that I wish could be fixed but they don’t balance around PvE at all so it’s tough luck I guess.

See this is the problem. I’m not making a thread about PvP builds. I’m making a thread about this one build in particular that I used to really like and use and how it’s ruined from the update. This is actually something they wanted us to do; they didn’t want to destroy people’s builds with the updates so they wanted us to post feedback about their new changes on the forums and on reddit to let them know.

Regardless of what they balance around, the fact remains – this scepter build in PvE was butchered from the new trait system.

Whether or not you care about the build is completely irrelevant, and so are your posts. Just how you claim I don’t consider anything from a PvP perspective, you’ve made it clear you don’t consider anything from any perspective other than your own.

If you have nothing relevant to contribute to the thread, then why post? Really, what’s the deal? Why wouldn’t you just comment on a thread that actually has to do with what you feel like talking about instead of derailing this topic?

You’re not supposed to activate virtue of justice for long fights anyways though. It’s only good to activate at the end of an encounter or against mobs that die quickly, as it’ll be replenished at the end of a kill either way due to Renewed Justice. It’s always been like this, that part hasn’t changed.

So I disagree with your solution. The build I posted isn’t a build that would be working in any situation other than PvE longer boss fights.

While it was fairly niche, it was fun to try to optimize this class to the best of my abilities. It doesn’t have many options anymore and it’s really lackluster at the moment if you want to deviate at all from GS + mace/torch.

I think the Shattered Aegis should be a minor, and the Zealous Scepter trait should be the GM and still give the 10% increase. I don’t understand what the point was with removing the modifier lol.

But additionally, Permeating Wrath is still useless for the build here because nothing is around me. I mean, it’s the only relevant trait to pick but whatever. You would think that a GM trait would be one of the more build-defining traits to pick but I’m finding out that most of them are all junk compared to before the update.

Hey guys, not sure if many of you guys will care but I just want to post a thread to express frustration about one of the guard builds I liked being ruined by the specializations update. You can see it here in my video and in the description:

I had 66002 scepter build, for straight DPS assuming 100% UC uptime. I tried hard to push for a sub-4 in this particular video because I wanted to show how good guardian’s DPS could be in optimal conditions on large hitboxes, and I had a lot of fun with it.

After trying to help the person who commented on the video asking for an updated build, it’s abundantly obvious that it’s pretty much gg now with this setup.

http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vVEQNAr/dlsAhehYhQwZIQQEHxDVOFbxZ0uBvwjWDgHAA-TxRBABXt/o8DP9AooxYhDKAAnIAKV/xMlgAA-e

No matter what, there’s no useful GM trait in Zeal. The scepter trait is now garbage instead of a 10% damage modifier and has to compete with Fiery Wrath…

I just have a hard time understanding why anyone would care about spirit weapons enough to take a GM trait for them over anything else? They’re terrible. Virtues’ GM traits aren’t really bad, except they’re completely useless for my build. It’s mostly just Zeal’s GM traits that are just terrible.

I’m frustrated because some of guard’s really good traits were taken out (the damage modifiers especially) and we’re given a really poor choice for GM traits too, and the scepter trait should not be at the adept level.

It’s really lame. Sorry if you’ve found my rant pointless and don’t care about it but this is the most relevant forum for it and I’m annoyed about my guard’s scepter build getting kitten by the update.

Well if it’s for solo play I guess I was thrown off because you put phalanx strength as one of your selections, so it was only natural for me to assume it was intended for groups as that trait is completely useless in a solo setting… but to be fair and in your own defense, not like the other two GM traits are relevant anyways and you definitely want burning arrows for a condi warrior build so yeah.

And before PS, people ran LH builds. I know. The problem in my opinion is mostly phalanx strength being too OP, but also because Anet kitten over LH builds and they aren’t practical to use anymore.

As for your last statement, what do you mean? You want to compare your personal damage with the build in the link you provided with a GS + a/m warrior running phalanx? Well, wouldn’t a better damage comparison be one using this build instead? They’re both solo builds so it would be a better comparison ^^

EDIT: Oh, how come you are using strength runes btw? They cost quite a lot, and are worse for both solo and groups for condi warriors than aristocracy runes do which are free (well, kinda).

I’ve been playing with this Hybrid setup in PvE and the DPS is pretty kittening remarkable. The zerker crowd probably won’t like it cause you aren’t pumping out might stacks like a GS build would but there is no doubt that the damage is viable in any party.

http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vJAQNAscTjMdQlH29B2dAnIGmCq7ICgRWDiIvGyS4EmdA-ThSFABEcCAWTfwgKBB4BAQsylDV/hk9HS4QAgwRAYJlUkCIRhVA-e

Those who say condition warrior isn’t viable or bad really don’t know what they are taking about.

It’s not that condi damage is bad, it’s just you contribute way less to groups and don’t fulfill the expected roles of the warrior. I mean, you take phalanx strength… but as you said you aren’t stacking might with your build like direct damage builds do, and not only that you’re only taking 1 banner and no empowered allies.

When you’re in groups it’s not all about personal damage, it’s about utility too. I hate to break it to you but based off of the build editor link, there’s a good reason for someone to claim your build is bad if you join a group like that and I don’t mean to offend you by this.

The intothemist link actually won’t even let me edit that guide lol.

Something I want to clarify with everyone is something I just talked about with my friend – I don’t like random quickness happening during my rotation because of the shortened evade frame on whirlwind and shortened block duration from riposte, as it can easily screw things up in the rotation… however!!!

It is the best option as far as DPS is concerned. Adrenaline gain is fast enough with Furious itself, but it is not fast enough without furious and with just Burst Mastery. This is important to keep in mind.

PvE Solo DPS Guide (Updated Aug 5th, 2015)

Purple Miku.7032

Hi Miku, thanks for the update and awesome guide.

One thing I think might be worth a mention in the “utilities when banners aren’t needed” section is the new Frenzy, which gives 5 Might stacks as well as Quickness and a stunbreak, and no longer has the +25% dmg received.

I always slot this in place of “For Great Justice” now, personally. I could be overlooking something though (it does have a long cooldown).

It’s definitely an option now, I will test it now that it’s changed as well and add my input later this evening. Still though for longer fights, it’s guaranteed that signet of might would be better and that’s because it’s providing you with an additional 180 power for the entirety of an encounter whereas frenzy is only providing you with a few seconds of quickness once in a minute’s worth of time.

So basically I agree with you that for a very short encounter it’s certainly worth using, but this guide’s mostly about solos… so I mean, I feel that it would be ill-advised of me to tell everybody to start using it. Quickness is good, don’t get me wrong, but I can’t think of too many bosses off the top of my head I would care to bother soloing that take a minute or less. Brie from Arah p2 comes to mind, but I wouldn’t use it at her either because it would result in a lower eviscerate spike before she hits 50% hp.

Thanks for the post, it definitely has gotten me to think more about that util. Like I said above, I’ll check it out

Hey Miku, thanks for your great guide! I would like to ask you one thing.
What do you think is good sigil choice for day time dungeons/fractals for greatsword? There are like CM and HotW (except Arah – sigil of undead) + some fractals I would like to use it in, but I am not sure which one. I assume one of them will be sigil of force. What about sigil of bloodlust? Thanks for reply.

You have a few options. You could take your Arah GS and swap the sigils according to what path you’re doing (I sometimes do this), you could use sigil of frailty for additional vuln stacking (might be a lot better now considering you lose out on rending strikes in one of the two main PS builds now), you could make an entirely separate GS with force+air sigils, or you could I guess just have nothing.

I do not suggest you use bloodlust sigils either way because it’s my opinion that warrior should be frequently swapping weapons when ooc to contribute to blast fields, chain blocks, etc. For example I frequently swap my GS with longbow when ooc so that I can use arcing arrow when my friends put down a smokefield, or perhaps when prestacking might with an ele I’ll be able to quickly blast with longbow then swap back to GS. If you do this with a bloodlust sigil you’ll just lose your stacks immediately. For what it’s worth I consider the sigil a pointless inconvenience that’s only good for attempting records in dungeons, and nothing else.

Is it still possible to do light orbs on arah p3/4 solo? (berserker gear)

It’s possible to solo in berserker gear now ONLY if you use executioner’s axe toy. If you do not, you need cleric’s gear.

@serenke.4806

“You have to make some choices, traits are more build-defining.”

Point is there’s less choices to make now, resulting in less ways to for my trait selection to define how my character will function. Less options for customization results in lesser chance of being able to create a build all with traits that are relevant to my needs.

“No, the system is not “dumbed down”, it’s different.”

It is definitely dumbed down, because part of the whole point of them doing it was to make it easier for newer players. Ever since the days with 30 trait points per line and when they released the NPE as well they’ve been trying to simplify the customization as much as possible because the average player didn’t put enough thought into making their builds and chose random stuff that wasn’t worthwhile.

At this point they force you to go all in on 3 specializations and reduced the variety of options. This is pretty much exactly what it means to “dumb down” a character’s build customization in a game.

We’re all growing tired of this crap, believe me. xD

But yeah I hear you Carmedil, the new system really is dumbed down. Something I’ve noticed with Anet and their updates is they always go from one extreme to another. I don’t know why that is, but it seems to be something they prefer to do with their game.

A good comparison would be Youtube. I remember like 5 years ago how much more enjoyable and customizable the channel pages were, then Google started kittening everything up and forcing everybody’s pages to be homogenized, changed fonts randomly, moved things to inconvenient locations and now our personal inboxes on there are completely hidden. What it is is just change for the sake of change… even if it’s not even doing the game better.

We’ll just have to see where they go with these changes as time passes by. There are, afterall, some positives to the new system… just… so many negatives as well ._.

Indigo, about that bleed/sword warrior in Arms… I definitely have to comment on that.

So the GM trait Furious for that line is an absolute essential for Berserker’s Power to work 100% of the time unless the warrior uses Burst Mastery in Discipline along with weapon swapping basically off cooldown. Meanwhile, they have to take pretty much useless master level trait for the master level. All 3 options are terrible unless you’re a condi warrior…

In the old system we had Forceful Greatsword, Blademaster, and many others. The fact that we were also able to pick multiple adept level traits instead of a master level one meant that there was always a way to ensure that every single trait you picked would be relevant to what you were trying to achieve with your build.

So yes, I completely agree with you about the traits being haphazardly placed. I understand you were trying to get the point across that it’s nice that each specialization is supposed to represent traits geared towards specific weapons, but yeah… this system doesn’t really do that too well. This is especially evident in that eles are still going into the water traitline for the damage modifiers, rather than for healing traits.

Thanks for your input.

I’ve thought about Dual Wielding before and have tried it, but to be honest it seems that camping GS overall tends to be the better option even with fast hands at least from my personal experience.

Sometimes swapping is better, sometimes it isn’t. Eviscerate does deal higher damage than arcing slice though, so it’s not necessarily a bad thing to be swapping weapons. Just keep in mind that even if you have GS rush on cooldown, you can dodge in between attacks to maintain Stick & Move anyways.

What I tend to do is when I have most of my GS skills on cooldown and know Berserker’s Power will end soon, I’ll swap to axe/mace because of Versatile Rage, so I can do a quick F1 to maintain the 20%.

By the way, if you don’t take Furious then you need to be constantly swapping weapons to maintain Berserker’s Power and that’s not always a good thing. You don’t want to use your burst skill unless your adrenaline is 100% full otherwise you won’t get 20% extra damage, but instead 15% or less. I’ve tried playing without Furious before and there’s always a few moments where you lose Berserker’s Power unless you constantly swap weapons off cooldown, which makes for a messy rotation that feels overly-pressured.

Also you will want to be using Arcing Slice over Eviscerate most of the time to maintain fury.

As for your last question… it depends on the encounter. If you’re doing a boss fight that is high pressure and doesn’t die really quickly, then I suggest you opt for fast hands with Burst Mastery. If it’s a super short fight then I suggest you take Arms instead of Discipline because you can begin the fight with mace 4, swap to GS and stay on it until the encounter ends. It’s all about knowing when and where you’ll need to swap.

I don’t know why so many people claim that most of the build choices we had previously were useless but now everything is viable.

Everything always was viable, just we had a greater variety and because of it, it was common to find better options for a given circumstance.

There’s way less to experiment with now which is the point I was making. Because of the fact that we have so much fewer of options to choose from and due to the fact that we’re forced to go with traits we don’t want more often than before, we have less of an option to create builds specifically geared towards what we want.

Purple Miku.7032

This thread will be just 1 post to explain the main problems I have with the new specializations and explain why I don’t have much faith in them.

I will begin with the main problem that I have with a few examples of it:

1)
Due to being forced into 3 traitlines, we’re being forced to take traits we don’t want just to get a trait we do want. This was somewhat the case last time, but only if you were diving into a traitline with the intention of getting only a GM trait. Now we have this problem even if you only want an adept level one.

I will give a few examples of this:

On a warrior when I want both Forceful Greatsword and Berserker’s Power, I have no relevant adept level traits, Restorative Strength is only relevant if I use the “To The Limit” heal, but not when I use either Healing Signet or Defiant Stance.

Also on a warrior if I want Burst Mastery or Heightened Focus, I’m forced to take irrelevant adept level and master level traits. Literally all of the adept level and master level traits are niche except Inspiring Battle Standard which isn’t really meaningful or something I’d willingly pick over anything else in the old system.

On an elementalist if I want both Piercing Shards and Aquamancer’s Training, I have nothing at the grandmaster level that’s relevant for me in the water specialization.

Additionally for elementalist, I want Bountiful Power but I don’t care about any of the master level traits for the arcane specialization. Previously this trait was a grandmaster minor trait, and both the adept and master level traits were relevant damage modifiers.

So you see… in the past, every single trait I would pick was relevant towards what I was trying to achieve. If I wanted to spec for optimal DPS on an elementalist, I’d go 66200, 66002, 64220, 64202 depending on the encounter and what was being used. If I was in a low man setting and needed vigour for whatever reason to dodge more often I’d go 64004 to sacrifice some of my personal damage for sustain.

In any case, I was able to trait for exactly what I wanted/needed. This is no longer the option now and I’m forced to pick many things that are irrelevant to what I am doing, just to get 2 or in some cases, 1 thing.

2)
I think there should be an option to have specializations save the trait selections you last had when you swap them out. It shouldn’t always save them, no. I just think it would be nice if we had a clickable icon somewhere on the interface where we could toggle it on or off.

3)
Changing specializations is kind of irritating because I need to memorize the pictures that represent each specialization. For example all of the warrior specializations have pretty bland images and I need to remember for example “the slightly lighter-coloured image is tactics, the slightly darker ones are either strength or defense” which is just inconvenient. In my opinion the order of each specialization needs to be the exact same when you click the icon to change them. This would relieve annoyance with it.

4)
In general these specializations just don’t really feel all that special due to the fact that so much less customization is available. While I understand there are some benefits to merging some traits and allowing us to pick an extra grandmaster trait, some of our grandmaster trait options quite franky suck and due to the fact that everybody is shoehorned into just 3 lines with only 3 options at each pick, it’s a much less complex and much less satisfying experience to customize builds now.

In the past when I first was learning the trait system, back during the 30 trait points per traitline days, it felt a lot more fun trying to learn about all of the options available to each class and all of the ways I could achieve the best output for each scenario.

Less customization results in less effort into having to balance things, but I’ll be honest about my opinion here too; with all of the alarmingly horrible problems that exist in the game now since the patch on the 23rd, the game feels much more broken than ever as a result of these changes. I’m sure that eventually they will start fixing the worst ones, such as the engineer grenadier and guardian symbolic avenger bugs, but do I believe they will fix most of the problems?

Eh, probably not.

[PvE] What do warrior condi builds look like?

Why couldn’t you run a Sinister warrior in a dungeon?

Because they are very bad maybe? I would insta kick cond warrior.

They aren’t as bad as you think.

Yes they are, applying 25+ stacks of bleed takes a while, raw zerker damage is the new meta.

Well here we have it boys!

Finally, after three years…

Zerker raw damage is the NEW meta.

Yeah but it was submitted before the update happened so it should have always counted.

None of the ones after are legit because they are exploiting a bugged guardian trait.

Is sigil of bloodlust worth it?

Bloodlust’s value depends on your build. The tankier you are, the more useful it is. If you are downed, you lose all your stacks, so full zerk builds don’t benefit from bloodlust (or any stacking sigil) all that much. A better choice is a sigil that gives a proc on crit (Air or Fire or Blight are good ones), or a flat always-on bonus (Force is the best).

Lol this is very incorrect…

The tankier you are the less and less of a percentage your own damage matters in a group, because you’ll have horrible offensive attributes if you have tank gear. A person wearing full berserker benefits way more from having extra power because damage is something they are focused on.

Thanks for the monk outfit!

The first pic without the wings looks 10000x better btw OP.

I agree though the monk outfit is nice… wish it wasn’t gem store though. On GW1 it was the free default gear based off of what my friends tell me. xD

I agree about the faceroll thing Jerus. The content on this game is way too kitten easy. This is why I really do not understand the appeal so many people have of doing daily dungeon runs. There isn’t the slightest ounce of enjoyment in grinding daily dungeons for the negligible rewards for me. The only one I find any enjoyment in is Arah and even that’s gotten dull long ago, to the point where goating surpasses actually doing the paths. I basically do Arah and sometimes fotm because I don’t know what else I can do on this game.

Ice bow 5 I still don’t see a problem with when you compare it with so many other cc skills, because it’s not THAT much longer than other ones. I think the skill itself is fine, but our damage is too high on some classes.

Warrior phalanx strength also really needs to be nerfed. It’s stupid how LH builds are dead. Might shouldn’t be so easily accessed from warriors, I find it stupid the way that it is.

Anet really is out of touch with the game. Once again I agree with you about everything being too faceroll, I just don’t see the problem with deep freeze itself. I feel that other things are worse atm.

Nah they aren’t worth it. You’re better off with going for Force+Night sigils or Force+X Slaying (for example, Undead Slaying in Arah or Sigil of Justice for CM).

The only time bloodlust stacks are worth bothering for are if you’re trying to go for a record boss kill time. For example, if you wanted to get the fastest possible Lupicus solo or whatever.

However these days no one really cares about Lupicus solos since everyone and their mom can do it.

Fiery Rush — two years.

Deep Freeze / Ice Storm — going on three years, no fix in sight.

Guardsway….

Ice storm deals too much damage, I get it, but what’s wrong with deep freeze? Just that it lasts 5 seconds?

This Mobility Nerf...

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

If you actually read the first post of the thread, you’d see that I specificaly stated that nerfing the mobility skills by not enabling swiftness to apply to leaps does NOTHING to prevent people from breaking out of the map.

The nerf primarily affects mobility skills that are greater than 600 range. Warrior GS rush is 1200 and cannot be used to reach unintended locations regardless, as it’s not a leap. Same thing with fiery whirl – so why do these need to be nerfed? For consistency? Please, spare me.

And you said:

“This means that these skills were intended to be tools for people to make their class’s kits work in combat not to spam swiftness and run around the map and getting to places they shouldn’t.”

This implies that to you these skills are only intended to be used for repositioning themselves in combat.

If this not what you intended to get across, then perhaps you should put a little thought into what you’re typing before you click the reply button.

Once again:

“This means that these skills were intended to be tools for people to make their class’s kits work in combat not to spam swiftness and run around the map and getting to places they shouldn’t.”

You said it, not me.
