A long time ago, like last year, I had an rT team that wanted to try to beat the Arah p3 record a bit after SC first got it and this was one of the ideas that came up in conversation to try—- the portal using the p1/p2 waypoint.

Sandy didn’t like it, and I remember the main reason was because we didn’t know whether or not people would accept it as a valid tactic for restricted because that waypoint wasn’t a part of the path itself and isn’t intended to appear there, but it does whenever the orbs are completed.

It’s clearly a lot faster, but based off of how much people have been bickering about rules it almost makes me hesitate to try things like this. Nice job though, hope it gets accepted with no issues. Also I like Ambro’s choice of music a lot better than the rest :P

Hey guys, I was asked a few questions in abundance lately so I will post my answers here for anybody that likes to keep updated with when I make changes.

1) What sigils should I use in daytime dungeons if night+force is not applicable?
The short answer is that you should have multiple weapons if you want to optimize. If you don’t want to do that, then you could take the safe route and go force+air because we don’t need accuracy sigils at all due to very high precision, and frailty is kind of terrible in a solo setting because vuln only becomes more and more helpful to maintain in a group setting. What I like to do is run with force+X slaying and interchange sigils depending on what will work (for example, force+justice in CM).

2) Since we can hit the 100% critical chance sometimes already wouldn’t Sweet and Spicy Butternut Squash Soup be better than Truffle Steak?
I actually edited my intothemists guide for this one. As written there:

There are some situations in which Sweet and Spicy Butternut Squash Soup (+100 power +70 ferocity) is technically optimal, but in order for those situations to be the case you will need to be in a level 80 zone and also be pre-casting signets before an encounter for extra precision during a fight. Since this scenario is kind of unrealistic and also because the price of the food is more than double that of Truffle Steak while barely giving even a fraction of a percentage better of DPS, I can’t recommend it.

3) Why take Inspiring Battle Standard over Brawler’s Recovery? Wouldn’t the condition removal be really helpful?
Yes, the condition removal is indeed helpful! If you can remember to, there are sometimes encounters where it’s better to take. The reality is that you most of the time don’t need condition removal so for general purposes, it’s not really all that important. I can give a perfect example of where it’s better to take Brawler’s Recovery though – in Arah P4 at the Lyssa priestess. Being able to swap weapons to remove 50+ stacks of confusion is way, way more helpful than regen from banners is.

4) Wouldn’t Blademaster be a good trait to take over Deep Strike in Arms so that you have reduced cooldown on sword block?
Sure that’d be nice if it actually worked. The trait is currently bugged and works for all sword skills except riposte for some strange reason. #JustArenanetThings

Anet should remove the option to see the amount of achievement points someone has accumulated, since it has nothing to do with dungeons themselves.
But somehow most people still think it’s a relevant scale for someone’s skill….

AP is totally a great indicator of dungeon skill — I mean, look at this scrub. Prolly wears a shield on his head. Certainly couldn’t handle Arah or FotM 50 without a hard carry.

IMO fighting lupi in the open is easier and definitely more reliable. He loves to ruin your wallsploit by shadowstepping as much as he can (gotta love Varra Skylark), so you can’t really pull it off reliably.

Also, I might know just the guy who made that 5 necro CoF lfg.

You’re right. He autoattacks more frequently when on the wall as you’re always going to be standing in his hitbox, preventing use of two of his attacks in phase 3.

Yes, this bug kittenes me off and as a result I hate this boss now. Shame, used to be one of my favorites too.

I remember somebody mentioning a while ago that the aoes are landing beneath the surface so they’re invisible but you still take damage while running, no idea how I could confirm that they are indeed beneath the ground or not but it would not surprise me.

Even the ones that are not invisible, often times the aoe indicators appear simultaneously as the damage occurs so the whole boss fight feels like kitten to me. That part is probably just ping-related on my end, dunno.

They should give molten duo the same treatment Bloomhunger got with the aoe indicator upgrade. I have never had problems with getting damaged by invisible aoes ever since they did that.

Control Effects in PvE

They’re changing the defiance system on champions/legendaries with the expansion so the discussion about control effects seems partially meaningless in a way.

But, as they are now I actually disagree with you about them. There are some control skills like “Fear Me” and Deep Freeze that are extremely good. If you were to double the duration of control skills in PvE, then Deep Freeze would be a 10 second stun duration and elementalists would have 20% extra damage with their Tempest Defense trait for a solid 10 seconds with the boss completely prevented from attacking.

Worse yet, it’s very easy to strip 5 stacks of defiance before 5 (or in your case 10) seconds pass, so you’d be able to chain it for another 10 seconds. That’d be 20 seconds with the boss frozen in a block of ice, unable to respond, with the whole team able to freely unload all of their burst damage with no extra risk associated.

Why would this be a good thing?

That’s because the bladetrail projectile hits a surface with collision. It will only return if the projectile doesn’t touch anything like walls, rocks etc. This isn’t a bug and it has always been this way.

You won’t find leveling up in open worlds engaging enough to warrant concern over your gear and traits at all and you shouldn’t concern yourself with it too much. What I would do is every 5 or so levels just buy blues/greens off the trading post if you really want to make sure you’re properly set up. Any more often than that would just be a nuisance.

i actually like this idea, make it so it is better to bring a healer rather than forced to bring one. Never liked the contents that force a party to bring tank and healer. Your suggestion actually suggest party to bring supportive role just incase.

Also if aggro will not break unless foes are dead will also help to make healer role more desired.

We already have supportive roles. Reflects, aegis, condi cleansing, banners, might, fury, swiftness, stealth, defiance stripping, stability, quickness, and more.

I seriously don’t understand why there are so many people who think the literal only possible way to support somebody in an MMO is to cast healing spells on them. There are already classes which you only take for supportive roles, like guardians and mesmers for example. Both have fairly below average DPS, mesmers especially, but we still take them in groups!

Warriors have lower output than elementalists and thieves do but we still want one in nearly every dungeon because they bring so much offensive support.

Why do we need to encourage people to use healer builds in dungeons? You can already do that but they’re not necessary when players know how to play because they can heal themselves. Why is this bad?

If you want to play a build that focuses on heals, make your own groups for it and find likeminded people. You’ll find them way less in abundance, however, because this game is not a holy trinity based game. It should stay this way, as that’s why we’re all on GW2 afterall – for something different than that. The only way to change this is to change much more than the simple design suggestions outlined in the OP of this thread.

Staff #4 is not supportive. It is detrimental as it will override might generated by eles/warriors which last a long time. Don’t use it.

Hey so this isn’t as much of a crash as it is just a force-logout, but if you press any key it seems after you’ve pressed F12 it automatically closes the game and reloads it.

This can be really bothersome when trying to open settings with F11 just to check something, and accidentally hit the wrong key. For example last night someone asked me what my ping was so I was trying to check quickly and type “sec i’ll look” or something like that.

It’s gotten annoying after a while, friends have it happen to them too.

Not sure if Anet is aware of it so I figured I would post it.

I want nerf to waterfield blast finishers.

Whether or not it’s optimal/better than another option is a different story and depends on the context. Is berserker gear always optimal? Not really. In most cases, it will yield the absolute highest potential damage-wise.

OTT: I disagree with nerfing water field blasts. This would be a poorly thought out solution to a nonexistent problem.

Watched Miku’s Arah bomb video again, got the itch to do some goating. First time in at least 4 months.

Spend about 15 minutes exploring, and … DC.

Yeah it sucks when it happens, do you have a kittenty ISP like me too? I guess most of my internet related problems have been alleviated ever since I set up a few firewall inbound/outbound rules to stop problems related to streaming-related throttle from Time Warner, and also when I just sucked it up and dropped $100 on a new router. I now average between ~150-180 ping as opposed to the former 250-300 and sometimes even 320-400 ping that I formerly suffered through for nearly a year on EU servers.

i honestly don’t get why people want healers and tanks so much

having to sit around for ages as a dps looking for a healer and/or tank is literally the most boring thing ever in other mmos.

Tbh, this is exactly how I feel too except having played Archeage during the first few weeks I can say that playing trinity combat in dungeons honestly isn’t that much more enjoyable than waiting to play it was. Can’t even believe people cry about zerkmeta1111ing on here when it could be so much worse.

Well if we’re talking about pugs, they’re not hardcore in either region. Not sure how it is on NA but here you get LFG messages explicitly demanding 2 staff eles, 1 phalanx warrior, 1 guard, and 1 thief along with the term “metazerk” occasionally thrown in there and maybe an AP requirement that’s barely lower than the person’s is that posted it. They’re always the kind of people that bug mossman in the water and wallsploit lupi…

Calling them hardcore is just wrong… haha.

Actually I can’t really think of anything on this game that’s appropriate for the term hardcore.

But it feels so good to do a 50,40,30 in just over an hour once a week instead of taking 2 hours while a pug group figures out what to do after killing the first 4 chanters at the double seal. Idk why it takes ppl 30minutes and inviting a friend for them to figure out that killing off the first spawns on both sides is a bad idea.

Uhh… to be honest I’m drawing a blank at connecting the relevance to my post, I guess you just sort of misinterpreted me. When I told Jerus that I play with condi engis, I meant like… ELement, for example, who plays engi better than anybody else I’ve ever seen… not first timers. I would absolutely not pug fotm runs, I would rather either solo/duo/trio them instead. xD

Jerus I can’t speak on behalf of all of EU obviously but almost all of my runs have someone playing condi engis and whatever they feel like. If you were on EU I would have no problem with you doing anything you felt like in any arah or fotm runs with me, I actually agree with you it’s really boring to do 5 man overpowered setups to grind out all dungeons and fractal tiers every day. Precisely why I never do it.

I don’t think earth needs to be changed at all other than maybe increase the damage and immobilise duration from #5, as it feels too underwhelming for a skill with a 30 second cooldown.

Water’s #2 probably could do with being a blast finisher, but that’s about it. I think the long cast time is justified by the decent damage it inflicts.

Air autoattack is perfectly fine as it is imo, but #2 needs to be reduced to something way lower, like 0.5s instead of the current 1.5s. As for #3, I think it would be fine if maybe they just increased the velocity of it a little bit.

Fire is fine as it is, other than the fact that flame burst has one of the dumbest unintended effects I’ve seen.

That’s the whole point of invisible mode… to hinder the ability for others to interact with you provided you don’t want them to at a given time.

You’re getting this glitch because you’re going on invisible mode and trying to use the LFG afterwards.

The only fix for this is to go back off of invisible mode and restart the client afterwards.

I updated my light orbs solo guide video that’s linked on the 2nd post.

The description of the video’s details:

“So I made my other video from about a week ago private because I’ve found out that medical packs are in fact not needed at all, and the reason for that is because a friend of mine reminded me of dwayna runes (thanks Quaggan, you da best!).

These provide regen instead of an additional amount of health restored after using a healing skill, which was kind of useless before because we were already able to hit full HP from defiant stance.

The small amount of regen that you get after activating defiant stance helps provide just barely enough extra health to survive one extra pulse from the orb to make it to the end, but the problem is that you still need ~1500 healing power to do this.

I have tested it from around 1100 to about 1500 and the only times I was able to succeed were with 1500+. If you can’t hit this number then I’m afraid you’ll have to resort to using medical pack consumables!

As shown in the video, however, it is still possible to solo orbs on warrior in full berserker with absolutely no trace of healing power to be seen… if you have an executioner’s axe toy. That’s the only way!

I’ve seen this asked on the forums a few times since the specialization update and been asked on stream and in whisper while ingame a lot, about whether or not it’s still possible to do. If you’re one of those persons that I refer to, then I hope this helps you out."

Damage Adjustment?

Attributes were removed completely from trait lines and were shifted into your base stats and gear. So because of that depending on what gear and traits you had previously it will have affected your damage.

How long ago are you asking for when they changed? If very recently as in the past few days, they didn’t do anything that would amount to a 20-30% DPS loss.

Dunno about other EU guilds but rT in particular has a lot of university students that struggle to make time for games now. I don’t work 2 jobs whilst being a full-time student anymore like I did 2 years ago so I don’t have that problem for now, but yeah. We’re growing old!

you are predictable.

the only reason the game is loading slow, is because anet is not providing the bandwidth. I know enough about my computer, and my connection to recognize that. There is nothing wrong with my client, and there is nothing wrong with my connection. and I am not talking about the stupid New LA video. I am talking about just logging in.

Anet isn’t your ISP nor is it your hardware.

If it takes 10 minutes then it’s 100% without a doubt YOUR end, because if someone like me with a 4-year-old laptop can load it in 1 minute or less with the entire game installed on a mere 750GB 7200 RPM HDD, despite being from America and playing on EU servers, it definitely shows it’s not Anet’s fault.

This is a cool idea, but they don’t do it for community-run events, only things planned and managed by ANet themselves. That includes the ESL, GO4, WTS, ToL, and a few other scattered one-offs ANet manages. The only way we could get this to happen is if we got ANet to host some kind of dungeon event themselves… That seems unfortunately very unlikely.

So you just listed 4 spvp events managed by anet and 0 for pve/wvw. As the pve forum specialist don’t you think they should stop with this predilection towards spvp and give some attention to the rest of the playerbase?

Do you think they will change their marketing strategies based off of what he alone says?

Of course it is unethical for the health of a game to completely ignore community subsets. Rising Dusk can only do so much; he can send them as many heart-filled messages as he likes, but we all know how Anet likes to operate and it’s always more realistic to assume that anything involving them exerting effort into improving the dungeon community, they will not be willing to do.

P.S. – we’re on the same team, I want them to quit with the e$ports too.

Old Tom bugs out? What do you mean by that? The only bug I know about with him is that if you reset the fight with him for whatever reason after engaging, sometimes the poison will be active even after he resets.

What bugging out are you referring to Enko? I don’t think he’s green/friendly at all and just kinda sits there waiting to be killed… could be wrong about that.

As a pretty active streamer and youtuber, I can definitely say they do quite a lot for me.

I would always appreciate more, but they host me and others on twitch quite often and do show a lot of appreciation towards us for putting forth effort into community interest through advertisement.

The only things I would really like at this point would be for more attention to game maintenance and more communication with the playerbase. Bug fixes just aren’t prioritised enough these days, so if I could ask for one thing from them it would be for that – more bug fixes.

What on earth did I just read…?

We’re playing a game. The intention of playing a game is to enjoy doing it. Ever consider the fact that not everybody enjoys using cheats to win? Based off of your logic if there was a way to completely avoid playing the game altogether and just click on a button to get your daily fotm rewards on login every day, that would be the ideal situation because you’d maximise your time spent with your family and friends.

If we were looking to do that in the first place, we wouldn’t have decided to invest our time into an MMO to begin with.

Honestly Pino.5209 that has the be one of the worst justifications to leaving a boss bugged that I’ve ever seen. Instead of sugarcoating, try just flat out saying next time “I would rather bug this boss so that I can AFK.”

I seriously don’t understand the obsession with guardians in AC. You literally have one fight where reflects are useful, the boss of p2. And even for that you can just 5 icebow him, or use any of the other random missile protection abilities that are available on every profession except war and necro. Anything else in AC is pretty much a cakewalk where just stacking heaps of damage from any profession is sufficient.

Where is this obsession that you speak of? Pugs? I would not consider pugging AC so I of course would not know.

I would argue that WoR would be more useful at SQ than last boss of P2, because with wall you can safely burst the queen down in the middle even with all 4 gargoyles up and without pre-killing all the mini spiders.

However… if we’re talking about pugs then they most likely wouldn’t do that anyways.

Some skills are unblockable. What is applying the blind to you?

An example of what would be able to apply weakness to you during your block would be another warrior using Call to Arms.

There are invulnerability skills that do stuff like that.

I think Signet of Stone is an example of it and Endure Pain.

If you read the whole post, it says that no 0’s show up when he/she attacks the person. If it was an invulnerable skill, it would say “Invulnerable” every time an attack is executed.

If it was Endure Pain or Signet of Stone, then it would show 0’s on every attack. So the problem can’t be any of those.

Mossman can be pulled into the water

Anet, just make Mossman reset to full HP on an interval of every 5 seconds whilst he’s in the water if you can’t afford to have anyone spend the time to do a more sophisticated fix that would involve giving him underwater skillsets.

This would at least alleviate the problem of every single fotm pug group bugging the boss. It is worth tending to because it affects all groups that do fotm via the LFG. It’s pretty embarrassing for one of the supposedly challenging bosses in the game to be afkable by people who probably couldn’t kill him otherwise.

  • Deep Strike(becoming a Grandmaster instead of Master): Make it work the same way Berserker’s Power works, after using a burst skill, depending on how much adrenaline used, the player will get an increased amount of condition damage(5%, 10%, and 15%).

I think 15% is just too much. Condition builds already are extremely strong with these new changes.

Deep strike is too underwhelming as it is for a GM trait, but I really see no reason to buff condition damage anymore than it currently has been.

So I have a different compromise to suggest.

What if the Arms master trait Unsuspecting Foe (Increased critical hit chance against stunned foes by 50%) was merged with Distracting Strikes in the Strength GM slot, which would leave 1 slot available in the Arms master spot.

We could move Axe Mastery there!

Now afterwards there’s just a blank slot remaining in Strength GM category.

Well, before the update we had a trait there called Berserker’s Might, which gave 2 adrenaline on an interval of every 3 seconds while in combat. We could bring this back but instead add something a little more appealing since it has to compete with Berserker’s Power. A quick idea that comes to mind would be granting 5 might for 5 seconds after using a burst skill. With hoelbrak/strength runes this would allow for 7-8 seconds of the might gained from this trait after using a burst.

What do you think about this suggestion?

P.S. – As some of you might know already, Anet removed our Furious Speed trait which gave swiftness on critical hits. While niche, it was still a pretty solid option. I think this should be merged with Deep Strike.

I don’t think blademaster is worth taking at all right now actually because it’s bugged with riposte and doesn’t actually give it the reduced cooldown. I mean, you get to use impale more often, but I would imagine the increased condition damage from deep strike probably outweighs the capability of applying torment every 12 seconds as opposed to 15.

Forceful Greatsword + Phalanx Strength Nerf?

Phalanx strength is still as overpowered as ever.

Just now you can’t really avoid using strength runes if you want to be able to maintain 25 might. You also can accommodate for the boon duration loss by using fried golden dumplings.

Strength sigils aren’t even needed, just the runes + food.

Flame Burst Interrupt Bug (ignores Defiance)

I discovered a way to interrupt any and every animation of an enemy with an elementalist, using flame burst directly behind them when they’re channeling a skill.

This is definitely possible to grief with and I don’t know why it happens, but it does.

Some things I’ve learned about it:
-Only seems to work with Flame Burst, haven’t found it to work with any other skills.
-Only works if you go BEHIND them when they are channeling a skill, doesn’t work if you stand to the side or at an angle.
-This interrupt is completely unrelated to the defiance system and will work with or without defiance stacks. Even if the boss is immune to crowd control skills, it will still interrupt them.

I’ve updated the consumables portion on the fourth post to include “Plank.” It’s an uncommonly known consumable that’s brokenly overpowered, in my opinion, as it has a knockback, a launch, and a knockdown (for warrior). The skillset is is apparently different on other classes however, as they aren’t the same skills on my elementalist. You can drop the bundle as well so other classes can pick them up!

Also I want to post to remind everybody that the trait in arms “Blademaster” is completely useless for soloing because it doesn’t work for Riposte (sword #5). When equipped with the trait, the tooltip says that the cooldown is reduced from 15 to 12 seconds but it doesn’t actually change the cooldown itself. This is a bug. Until this trait is fixed, it’s impractical to choose (not like our other options here are too great either way tbh).

Be mindful of that guys. Also, we need to keep reminding Anet about how they forgot Inspiring Banners! It was supposed to get merged with Inspiring Battle Standard or become baseline, but they forgot about it. ._.

There’s just that certain crowd of players who are bitter towards anyone that plays with berserker gear and look for any reason to trash talk them.

What people fail to understand is that on every game there will always be people that try to maximise their output on games.

Some people play to win, because that is how they have fun.
