To be honest the biggest reason this change kittenes me off is because it impairs travel speed when out of combat. There’s literally no reason whatsoever this needs to happen.

Well they won’t be dashing away as quickly as before, so it’s not a complete loss.

Yeah except warriors will be able to roleplay as Usain Bolt in PvP with chill and cripple on them, because it makes so much sense for somebody limping around in agony to be able to leap and dash the same distance as he would in a healthy state.

Not only does it make sense for movement-impairing conditions to reduce the efficacy of movement skills, but it makes sense for movement-enhancing boons to increase the efficacy of movement skills.

The logic behind this change makes no sense and it’s going to make mobility SO much slower in WvW, in open world, and in dungeons.

Omg I am so frustrated with the amount of people who don’t even care about anything other than “oh cool I can still leap further when I’m chilled and crippled.” This is so hopeless. I feel like I’m timetraveling back to Runescape when Jagex proposed EoC.

Make your own thread (no sarcasm). This one is going nowhere good, defs not getting any good dev attention, and a miku thread will probably have better credibility anyways.

I would gladly, but I have a flood control of 1800 seconds and lack sufficient permission rights to post my own threads.

Just one comment on a thread every half hour is the best I can do.

Besides, I don’t think anybody in general discussion cares about me at all. I would just get flamed by all the people who don’t care about minority subsets within the community.

/sigh
What the hell am I still doing in this game… there’s just no other mmo I want and mobas absolutely disgust me. I don’t know what to do about it.

I have gradually increased the amount of different anime that I watch and can see myself turning uber casual on GW2 fairly soon based off of how crappy the future for it looks.

I’m completely with you on there being nowhere else to turn to. The only MMO that looks promising is Black Desert.

Wildstar looks like a giant nickelodeon MMO and I have no interest in it, TERA’s controls suck, the characters are less aesthetically-pleasing than GW2’s and the combat doesn’t seem like an upgrade either.

MOBAs have always been on my bad side and I loathe the existence of LoL.

Not really sure what’s gonna happen with me. Unless I can find a proper longterm replacement I can’t really ditch GW2. :S

This is seriously one of the worst planned changes I’ve heard for this game. Nerfing mobility out of combat… sigh.

Literally every shred of hope I had for the future of the game is gone. Buffing the living hell out of condi builds, making us move slower, dumbing down traits and neutering build diversity…

The future looks bleak.

I was disappointed because this balance patch is pretty much considered a buff, which means we don’t have to reset the meta records. Unfortunately this is probably a bigger nerf than FGS or Icebow would/will be. I do not think, for example, the Arah records could ever be touched thanks to all the running involved unless there was a radical new set of tactics. P2 the warrior run to Alphard will be hugely slower.

Well just for reference, a thief can run from the door at Lupi to the waypoint before alphard in ~1:20-1:30 whereas a warrior can barely do it in around 1:50 right now.

The time for warrior to do it will be slower but thief not as much.

This is an absolutely rubbish change.

Movement-impairing conditions were good counterplay to extremely mobile classes, and using swiftness + super speed for extra mobility has NEVER been a problem.

The change is overall bad from all angles.

Luring bosses behind corners has only ever been useful because of THIS.

It has been nerfed 9 months ago. Now luring bosses behind corners is pointless and a massive waste of time in full groups.

Please educate yourself on the subject at hand before complaining about removing it.

I don’t think anything in molten facility needs drastic changing other than the kittening tunnel where you get perma cced and stuck in combat for 9 years. The worst part about it is you can’t blast might while waiting for the drill because apparently having hitboxes all over the place is good design.

Speaking of random hitboxes, loldredgefractal. Every single time a dredge dies their hitbox lasts where they died for about 10 seconds.

I also watched that. But I have to say Nemesis is underestimating pugs these days. I have been pugging fractal 50 every day recently. The vast majority of players I found through lfg know what they are doing and we clear 50 rather smoothly. Yeah, occasionally(mostly weekends), I get poor groups that die often. But I am fine with that once in a while.

Really? I’m guessing you must be on NA then, because EU pugs are almost all bugging mossman in the water and 1-shotting Lupi on the wall like complete amateurs.

To find groups that don’t do this would be like finding the holy grail and believe me players that resort to tactics like this can definitely not coordinate combo fields and stack might with eles. These are the type of players that just spam their skills off cooldown without caring about rotations.

Purple Miku.7032

Getting bashed for not using it is pretty sad, but if it’s what is asked in the LFG ad then you have no choice but to either obey or not join them to begin with.

I recognise how strong phalanx warr is but I never use it in the sight of strangers because I have no way of verifying whether or not their rotations are proper, they are using adequate traits, will actually do their jobs properly etc. Wasting my own DPS at the expense of pugs who probably will not even properly using all of the power I give them sounds foolish to me.

So want to know what I do about it? I just don’t go with those people.

And if I ever do pug it’s certainly not in fractals or any group formed with one of those pathetic elitist LFG ads. I recommend the same for you OP.

Play with whatever build you want. Just play it in a group that accepts it. Just as the people tried to impose themselves onto you, you should not do the same to them. Acknowledge the desires of others and if they want something that you are not willing to provide, then leave them.

How I think dungeon skipping can be fixed

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Purple Miku.7032

Purple Miku.7032

Skipping Trash is part of the dungeon.

Why even add it in there then? They (ANet) cannot disapprove too much because they have not added anything to prevent it, but I do see it as trivialising content and annoying really. There just doesn’t seem to be a point to killing things.

In GW1 EoTN, you had many mobs that carried keys to the dungeon, which you had to kill in order to open the door to progress, the exact same thing would work here. No stealthing or running, kill the mobs, get the key, move on.

Because it is an obstacle in your path to the end that you can choose to handle in whatever ways you find provided it’s within the rules.

If we weren’t intended to ever skip mobs in dungeons, then Arah wouldn’t exist.

I do AC purely because I need the tokens in high volume but also just because elementalist is so good there that it makes it so ridiculously fast gold.

Arah is the one dungeon I care about.

The main reason I do not like non-Arah dungeons much at all anymore is because of the ferocity implementation from April 2014. It is my opinion that this game has been downhill since that update, and part of the reason for it is ArenaNet’s awful job on scaling in downleveled areas.

The dungeons and combat in general was just more fun pre-ferocity imo. It’s way too late to go back, but now I only do non-Arah dungeons on rare occasions. I would rather repeat Arah dailies than do for example SE and Hotw xD

You will not get banned unless you try to sell the exploited runs. They don’t really care about this sort of stuff unless you try to gain an ingame advantage over other players. If the exploits in question matter enough for them then they’ll do something about the exploit itself.

Clearly, based off of how they do nothing for the dungeon community at all, this is probably not even under their radar let alone something they would concern themselves with banning people over it.

Any Tips On How To Reliably Dodge Lupi's AA

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Purple Miku.7032

Purple Miku.7032

If you’re in melee range and have basically any higher than around 180-200 ping you need to preemptively dodge kinda like at mage crusher. I average ~180 ping, but when I have around 140-170 on a good day then it’s OK.

The boss was really just grinding RNG before the update anyways so it didn’t change a whole lot in that regard tbh.

But if you are on a guard, what setup are you using? You should want him to be using autoattacks on guard for a sizable chunk of the fight because it’s a nice DPS increase.

For a warrior I use GS + axe/mace with 65003 using furious speed, and I take signet of stamina. In a casual solo you may as well just go without banner because chances are he might get pushed around a bit or teleport across the room.

If you are duoing then you don’t need signet of stamina and should be taking banners (or at least 1) depending on what class you are with, but in a low man setting I suggest furious speed trait nonetheless for casual runs because this way you can run away for his frenzied blasts without wasting dodges on them, meaning you’re able to freely dodge all his autos. Also for phase 3 it lets you more reliably make sure you don’t get hit by any of the pulses for his large aoe attack, preventing him from healing and purging conditions (and from you taking unnecessary damage).

It's not the zerker meta, it's might stacking

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Purple Miku.7032

Purple Miku.7032

It is the zerker meta. This is what happens when there is a game with no tanks or no healers. There is only damage. Nothing else matters but how fast something can die.

They don’t want healers so healing power is a joke stat. They don’t want tanks so high toughness/vitality is a joke combination.

Anet thought they were changing the world when they left the trinity behind and all they did was remake Monster Hunter.

Unless power, precision and ferocity get removed from the game entirely, berserker’s will be the best damage combination. If it is removed, the second best damage combo will take it’s place.

You just contradicted the heck out of yourself.

You first open your comment by declaring that the problem lies in with the current meta involving berserker gear and then at the end you admit that it has nothing to do with the “problem” by saying that the next best option would take its place.

So there we have it! The zerker meta is confirmed to not be problematic… thanks for agreeing with so many of us.

If you want any different approaches to be considered, then the playerbase can’t be able to rehearse the same content for 3 years until it can be done blindfolded and drunk. Then and only then will it be a worthwhile consideration for the vast majority of dungeon runners to take tankier builds.

tl;dr – we need new content.

Dunno Rainmaker because it’s fairly easy for the extra waypoints to go unnoticed in my opinion. I didn’t start noticing them until months into doing Arah daily, long long ago until one day after I waypointed I saw two tar waypoints.

Lupicus on the other hand… it’d be pretty difficult not to notice something wrong with his autoattack missing in melee range had it been intended to all along. I dunno. That part still is weird to me

[Bug] Lupicus Necrid Bolt hits at melee

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: Purple Miku.7032

Purple Miku.7032

I agree with Wethospu. Necrid bolt hitting in melee isn’t a bug, but its a bug fix.

But see the problem I have with this claim is that the people who designed Lupicus obviously had to test him in all phases before releasing him. Surely they would have tested his swipe by going in melee range to see what happens, and had any ranged autoattacks happened they would have noticed it and probably made them hit before releasing it to begin with… if that is what they intended that is.

That never happened and Lupicus has gone on for years with his autoattack having a minimum range, so regardless of whether or not it makes more sense for him not to use the attack if it won’t hit you, I don’t see how this could be a bug fix.

I also sincerely doubt they intentionally changed anything with Lupicus. If they wanted to make his autoattacks hit in melee out of the blue like that then surely they had some time on their hands. Why wouldn’t they also make sure his teleport skills + bubble work as intended while they were at it? Why did they choose not to do anything about the wall on wall ’sploit?

Is Longbow really better than Rifle (PvE)?

in Warrior

Posted by: Purple Miku.7032

Purple Miku.7032

The way it works is this really.

In PvE basically everything has its niche on a warrior aside from hammer and rifle in terms of combat efficacy.

Hammer can be useful for trollish activities, such as just spamming cc on trash mobs just for the heck of it, other than that just for mountain goating or whatever.

As for rifle… there’s just nothing. I can’t find a single dungeon or fractal related encounter in which it’s worth using. As for open world… well, same thing. Nothing.

In the very few situations in which a ranged weapon is useful, it’s always longbow. Never is it rifle. Regardless of personal preference, rifle is just never better. Use it if you wish but it’s the truth. Worse damage and utility.

You will have to pug at some point, as everyone does, but it’s because it is part of the learning process.

Your concern makes a lot of sense to me, it is not fun to me to be forced to read up on tons of information when I want to just play the game. I get you, so if it helps at all what I found best to first learn the dungeons aside from joining pug groups was to attempt to solo it and if I got stuck on something I would then turn to youtube or google search.

I did that back in 2013 so it’s definitely going to be the case that there will be a lot more information available for you.

Btw, if you don’t understand what an LFG advertisement is asking it’s best to not join it. Even if the post makes no sense in what they ask for, you should still respect their wishes.

LFG Advice for low-skill player?

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Purple Miku.7032

Purple Miku.7032

My suggestion for you is to avoid any group that has an AP requirement, demands that you ping gear in chat, and anything that says “exp” or “metazerk.” A huge portion of them don’t even know what the abbreviations/words mean and just do it because they mimic others and the vast majority of the groups on the LFG with posts like “p1 exp 5k metazerk ping gear” are likely to be really unpleasant to play with.

You will probably not like them. You should just stick to your own LFGs or look for the ones that either have nothing specified other than the paths, or just the ones that don’t set weird arbitrary standards that have nothing to do with the dungeon (like AP lol).

I will also add that if I join pug groups I prefer to be with newer players as opposed to tryhards that act like pugging is speedclearing. I know many others who share the same sentiments.

Additionally, the thing that I think is really important to not aggravating others is to be willing to communicate. If you fail to understand what to do and would like to be told, then simply ask for it. When someone doesn’t know what to do, trust me it is obvious to those that do. If you want to be liked by them then you should make an effort to learn what you lack understanding of instead of try to hide and expecting them to carry you. ^^

celestial vs mixing

in Elementalist

Posted by: Purple Miku.7032

Purple Miku.7032

Well if I remember correctly between exotic berserker and ascended berserker the full set difference is ~5% DPS increase (assuming level 80) and a ~5% DPS increase for ascended weapons over exotic.

So it’s pretty much around the difference between using and not using food in a dungeon at level 80 (not quite, but the point I’m making is that the difference is marginal unless you’re talking ascended upgrades from all exotic trinkets, armor and weapons… then it’s quite large). I could be wrong on this but it’s what I remember from around a year ago after ferocity was rolled out.

celestial vs mixing

in Elementalist

Posted by: Purple Miku.7032

Purple Miku.7032

I understand your concerns, but let me tell you that you will seriously regret the decision of mixing stats later on in the longrun.

First of all tequatl is literally half-afkable. Soldiers isn’t needed in the least bit. It maybe was useful back when the majority of people didn’t understand the encounter and everybody was desperately trying to guest into desolation/blackgate just for a chance of succeeding, but these days any pug map has an easy time doing it. There’s nothing to min-max there unless you’re somehow magically able to get your own map with your own guild, which is nearly impossible due to the megaservers.

WvW and instanced PvE are different stories.

In both of these you can min-max, but whether or not you should completely depends up to you and what you are doing in both game modes.

For WvW if you just casually do it then there’s no reason to care about using full ascended _ there because anything can work. If you roam, you will certainly get rekt in full berserker very easily and I’d say celestial would probably be better there.

However in PvE, berserker is way better than celestial and all other options. Dungeons, be it in pugs or efficient and organised groups, are very easy to clear. Even with no armor and trinkets you can easily succeed if you know what to bring, what to use and in what order. They are all based off of repetition/memory, and the more you do them the more and more pointless any defensive attributes become.

Open world PvE has never been difficult to succeed in as it’s designed to be done by any and all classes and any and all builds. World bosses can’t be crit, but the fact of the matter is that you don’t deal any higher damage in soldier than you do in berserker when you’re fighting a structure/object. You deal the same damage on those. But anything else in the game that can be crit, soldier is absolute rubbish.

The thing you need to keep in mind is that in this game, EVERYTHING is viable. Viable by definition means “capable of working,” and that’s just that – everything can work.

This means that despite one type of gearset not being optimal in a current setting, it can still get the job done.

But with that in mind, there is literally no game mode, no dungeon, no activity that berserker doesn’t give you the best damage output for (unless we’re talking about condi builds in PvP-related scenarios).

As far as direct damage goes, berserker will absolutely always reign supreme. It therefore has the highest potential out of all other geartypes.

In the longrun, you will benefit more from making a full berserker ascended set than anything else unless you exclusively WvW or farm open world bosses. If you want an all-purpose set, get berserker.

I hope my post has helped you OP.

I still think she should have different phases or maybe give her increased attack speed + damage on each one. Having her do the exact same stuff for the whole fight with nothing else would be a little too bland for my taste. But, that would definitely kill off the stealth tactic I think.

The problem with the cannon phase for Mai Trin is that it boring and tedious. After a short while you start to adminer the color of the wall, or that stack of tax decleration which suddenly looks more interesting… and whoops, you died.

It sound quite easy to make the cannon phase fun. They could use the cannon fire as a method to damage mai trin by freindly fire. Or why not use those ships in the background and allow a player to run over there and destory them like the treb in pvp, thus creating a 4 vs 1 situation. It doesn’t need to be so boring that boredom is the biggest threat of the fight.

The only way I have found the cannon phase to be fun is to use a ruminant tonic and try to survive it as a dolyak. It can be glorious, but at the same time it can be a horrible ending.

Lupicus bug, ranged attack hits in melee

Honestly, I just don’t like that he uses a ranged projectile autoattack against players in melee range. He should be using one of his more powerful (and more telegraphed) melee attacks instead.

Kick in all phases! (or Swipe)

This is something I said I wanted him to do long ago. I remember talking about it with abe and he agreed; it would be more interesting of a fight if Lupicus doesn’t stop using any attacks on all phases. So for phase 2 he keeps all his phase 1 attacks but learns swipe, frenzied blast, and the autoattack then for phase 3 he learns the other frenzied blast, life suck, life drain, and necrid trap.

Imagine getting kicked then bubbled right away before you could stand up xD
