There is speculation that the expansion will include fotm changes that will make use of it, but then again… this is Anet we’re talking about here.

We will instead probably end up having a few bosses stay green/unaggressive, spawn inside walls and be perma-invulnerable, etc.

That is a DUNGEON skin. They were ALWAYS available in dungeons and then way way way later anet came out with PvP reward tracks.

lol, my problem isn’t with dying or not beating the dungeons. I can actually solo a couple of them. My concern is just general gameplay mechanics and the effects they have on newer and more casual players.

Stacking is generally what pug groups do and not always what good groups do. Sometimes it’s better to do but most of the time it’s just outdated pug tactics that were once efficient for the sake of fgsing bosses and pugs have no idea why they do it.

Give specific examples of where you are having problems with people doing it and I’ll tell you if it’s stupid to stack there or not :P

Snowblind Fractal

Just so you guys know this snowblind change was unintentional.

A few updates ago they accidentally broke the hitboxes of structures. The hitboxes are all offset by a certain amount and misrepresent where they are supposed to be. In other words the hitbox of the top of the elemental source in this case is up in the air, distant enough so that you cannot hit it with anything unfortunately.

This won’t be fixed unless they become aware of the actual issue. So instead of complaining about them removing the ability to destroy the top, which they didn’t intentionally do, complain about structure hitboxes. If they fix them, we’ll be able to do this fractal less painfully. ^^

Sword Axe build?

Not really because it’s low damage and low utility. If you like it then by all means, go for it. But sword is a hybrid weapon with the only really good physically damage skill being final thrust, and axe is terrible as an offhand but really good as a mainhand weapon.

Now if you were to change that to axe/sword it would be another story.

Staff single target DPS rotation?

With the new update changes and persisting flames being merged with lava tomb, I think the new optimal dps rotation will actually involve going down every 10 seconds or so for the free extra lava font. Not sure if any groups will actively use that.

It won’t be a part of the rotation because first of all you can’t reliably control whether or not you go down and get rallied, but also you’ll be losing your scholar bonus, and also if you go down you can’t cast your normal skills like meteor showers glyph of storms etc.

I am most of the time not in 5 man parties for fotm and I usually end up having to run all the way back to the svanir bonfire to ooc because of really annoying RNG where it teleports me to the middle where all the elementals aggro.

Several weeks ago in one of their previous patches they glitched all hitboxes of all structures and they are indeed located in the wrong spots now.

They apparently don’t consider it important enough to fix yet.

A few other examples of it:

The door gates in Arah path 3 and 4 now has its interact option misplaced to the point of it overlapping the interact option for the light orb globes.

The top of the elemental source’kittenbox in the snowblind fractal is now located very high in the air to the side somewhere that isn’t possible to attack.

They’re all suffering from the same bug. The question is, how long will it take for Anet to care about it?

Almost every class can, but the only way it’s possible now is by taking advantage of a bug which to my knowledge you have no control over.

Watch in my old vid here when she begins spinning, but stops and doesn’t go into hiding. There is a strange bug that happens to her and many other bosses in this game where they interrupt their own long animations with another skill. In the case of Simin it results in her interrupting her spin to go into hiding, resulting in her waiting another 45 seconds before doing it again and giving you a ton of time to freely attack her. You can easily tell if she bugged by observing the fact that the sparks actually have spawned, but she didn’t hide.

Have you ever finished Simin before and wondered why there were sparks near the waypoint and pestering you while you try to jump up the tree? That means she bugged. xD

As far as I know there is no way to forcefully make her do it because she can do it sometimes even if you lure the sparks perfectly, and also she sometimes does it if you’re late to lure them all as well.

Other bosses that have this same weird interrupt bug that I observed doing it a lot are berserker abomination, alphard, mossman, bloody victoria, etc…

I just want to share a quick post’s worth explanation why I’m so eager for Lupicus to be fixed in multiple ways.

First of all, the bugged autoattack isn’t that bad but the problem is it’s class discriminative. For example it can literally 1-hit an ele from max hp if it crits (have had it happen before) assuming only 916 vitality, that is. Meanwhile on basically any other class it won’t, and also any class without access to reflects, blocks and enough vigour/endurance is at the mercy of being incapable to function on their own without unconventional methods like running out of combat repeatedly to heal up. Does this sound like good design? Certainly not. Necromancer in particular suffers with the change, and both eles and thieves can’t take the same builds as before to get it done with without some huge adjustments.

Basically, it’s a build check. It doesn’t actually add true difficulty to the encounter, but rather it serves as something similar to that of the agony condition in fotm. An example of adding true depth/difficulty to an encounter would be making his attacks much less predictable and giving him more attacks, possibly increasing his attack speed as the fight carries on or giving him an “enraged” mode similar to that of what Legendary Imbued Shaman has in the Volcanic Fractal.

Now, the WoR-sploiting aka 1-shotting… that needs to go. This literally kills pugging in Arah. It’s almost impossible to find pug groups that don’t default to this, and the worst part is there’s almost nothing you can do about it. Making your own parties and stating not to do it isn’t completely guaranteeing you that the pugs will listen. I’ve had it happen to me 3 times now where I repeatedly brought it up in party chat not to 1-shot him but they still did. I couldn’t interrupt the aoe, I couldn’t prevent him from being walled because Lupicus didn’t aggro on me in phase 1, I couldn’t use swirling winds in phase 2 to prevent it because I wasn’t on an ele, I couldn’t do anything at all to prevent it. I can’t even kick the people that do it either because of the 3-vote rule now and the lack of instance ownership.

Why should it be this way? Why should players who have absolutely no idea how to fight the boss to begin with get a free get-by pass?

No one 1-shots this boss without being either a bad player, too lazy or unmotivated to learn how to do Lupicus properly, or too stubborn to admit he’s too hard for them to do. Well in my and many others’ opinion, ’sploiting Lupi like this is no better than skipping him altogether is and find it preposterous to suspect that any of these changes at all were intentional without Anet having fixed this problem first. They were obviously aware of it all of this time, so it is illogical to assume otherwise.

Anyways, my suggested proposals:

First things first:

Fix the 1-shotting problem by either making it impossible to place ground targeted AoE on the surface of the wall or moving the point of origin for his projectiles up to the top of his head instead.

Along with that…

a) Completely revert Lupicus to his former self
b) Keep his ranged autoattacks hitting in melee range, but reduce the damage significantly. This way they would still remain a threat but it wouldn’t completely ruin the encounter for classes like necromancer, for example.

For warrior just use GS rush away and run around like an a__ whenever you need to wait for endurance to recharge.

Example

Seeing you solo lupi + a champion risen knight, while I can’t even properly solo a champion risen knight hurts my ego.

But in all seriousness, the running away to regain endurance might actually work really well for me, especially since I can just let my pet keep him busy when I’m on ranger.

I have only 4 of them from drops. They’re pretty rare, but still nowhere near as path recipes from dungeons are.

Recipes drop quite often, once I found 4 recipe within 2 days Same recipes on both days even xD

I think I have a larger sample size here.

I’ve accumulated between 80-85k total Shards of Zhaitan, but it wasn’t until around ~65k until I got my first recipe from ANY of the four paths, which was the bloodstone fragment recipe.

They are rare as hell ^^

This game doesn’t have specific roles like that. Everyone does damage, everyone heals, and everyone can use crowd control abilities.

You can play how you want to, but it is true that making tanks/healers is wasteful. It’s a different kind of combat system.

This thread is so naive.

They showed us the traits so we obviously know whether or not our builds can/cannot work after it goes live unless they drastically change things. This patch also greatly hinders build diversity because it forces you to use only 3 traitlines, as opposed to putting the exact amount of points you want in whatever lines you wish for.

So you are wrong.

Also they specifically said to post on the forums and reddit about our feedback and to let them know if their changes killed off any of the builds we play with, so you are encouraging people to do the complete opposite? Seriously?

Heh, this reminds me of all the people in the general discussion forums who beg for trinity roles in GW2.

So you have a completely different definition of what amateur-level PvE is than me, which is fine but maybe you should try being a little more consistent for a change.

To me, amateur-level is just doing the bare minimum to get by without trying to learn how to do it better, because their objective has nothing to do with self-improvement or optimization. This is based off of the definition of what an amateur is.

And I don’t care about playing other MMOs right now, especially not subscription-fee ones. It doesn’t matter to me how difficult your Wildstar bosses are, because of there not being the slightest chance of me ever playing it to begin with.

As for the name you chose, yeah I guess it’s fine. I’m kind of impartial to it and don’t really care about what its name is to be honest. What I care more about is its functionality, and I agree with you about 30s cooldown maybe being a bit much.

I didn’t say anything about GW2 being hard, I just find it hilarious how you say there’s 0 skill involved in anything because of how obviously false that is. You talk so condescending as if you’re too good for this game yet here you always are, posting on its forums and boasting about your beloved Wildstar all of the time.

If there was no skill involved in the combat in this game then I’m pretty sure you wouldn’t enjoy the combat so much. There wouldn’t be so many terrible and good players either yet there is obviously a huge spectrum.

It is easy to succeed in the game because they make content that caters to the majority, which are players that don’t and won’t spend months trying to beat bosses. Just being able to beat bosses in GW2 is nothing in particular to be proud of, yeah, but there is a huge difference in skillful play among players on this game. Whether or not you find it meaningless to strive for more skillful play on here is completely irrelevant – the fact of the matter is it exists.

Getting people off zerker gear doesn’t fix this either … assuming it’s a problem of course.

I know it doesn’t. But it’s kind of silly having everyone in the entire game using the same gear set for meta PvE.

But every dungeon in the game is basically the same. Stack around a corner and mash buttons.

How is it silly for there to be one single gear type to use that’s best in optimized gameplay? That makes perfect sense to me. The only way this couldn’t be the case is if everything had equal stats, which would be ret____d.

And if you are stacking around a corner mashing buttons then you are not participating in meta PvE gameplay, you’re just pugging… which is amateur-level PvE, and fairly unrelated to meta gameplay.

I don’t know if I like these changes more than the ones announced overall. There are some things I like and some I really dislike.

The trait stuff I didn’t like…

First I don’t like losing out on the passive bleeds in arms, because then you lose out on the synergy with attack of opportunity. With your proposed changes you would either have to lose signet mastery which would suck in PvE, or lose out on the bleed on crit. Mehhhh.

Secondly, where is dual wielding damage? You know, it’s already a huge problem that axe mastery is moved to GM because pure axe builds will no longer be an option in PvE. Taking away dual wielding from dual wield agility is just another unnecessary hit.

Third I don’t get why you removed furious speed. It’s currently a really useful trait and I would prefer at the very least to be merged with rending strikes, because as it stands it seems kind of lackluster for a master trait without it. If you are removing the swiftness there it should be added elsewhere imo.

Otherwise you made a lot of crappy traits seem a little more useful, which is nice.

As for weapon changes…

If you’re going to make rifle #4 have an aoe impact, you may as well make it a blast finisher as well. It should/would only blast if it hits the target and it would blast at the location of the impact.

I don’t agree with changing final thrust… I rather like the way it functions right now. It’s semi-difficult to land on experienced players in PvP and serves as a really good hybrid weapon. The bleeds happen on autoattack so I don’t see it as necessary to move the damage to more bleeds, because it’s already really easy to stack bleeds on condi builds as it is so this would be unpleasant for sword users overall imo.

Daze on mace autoattack seems OP, and if this were implemented then mace #3 would need to be changed. There is just too much cc with it being on autoattack, I don’t like it.

Greatsword autoattack I don’t see why it needs to be changed, it’s a good thing for it to apply vuln and also a good thing for it to have increased damage. I’m not sure what your objective is with changing it.

Axe #4 I completely agree with, but I want to emphasize the damage increase part and make sure it hits a noticeably higher amount than it does now, enough to make it actually worth dodging.

I’m really displeased with ele changes.

Actually more like I’m displeased with all these trait changes overall strictly because it kills build diversity and makes it harder to create a build with what you want/need in it. It’s a QoL nuisance in that aspect.

An example of what I mean is that for ele in particular, you cannot go 64004 on staff to get renewing stamina. This is a really helpful option for when you need more endurance and want to keep blasting staff – a sacrifice of 10% of your personal damage. You also cannot do this with D/F and do 66002 (ignoring that D/F is killed either way).

It’s just annoying. There’s no positive changes for ele aside from staff getting higher health pool, bountiful power, and the 10% damage which it already has the option of getting from vital striking. Also it’s lame because we also lost arcane lightning which was a superb trait, now merged into some sh***y air-only trait.

Really a shame.

I don’t want to get into what I feel about earth/arcane magic, but air magic really needs to change. As it is right now it’s kittening pathetic.

First of all, all air magic adept traits are terrible. Bolt to the heart needs to be moved back to adept big time because that way it’ll be possible for D/F ele builds to benefit. Moving it to GM was a stupid choice. So I think Ferocious Winds should be scrapped and replaced with Bolt to the Heart.

Secondly I think Air Training should be merged with Aeromancer’s Training, so it gives 10% damage as well as reduced cooldowns but take out the ferocity gained from it. So instead of the trait giving 150 ferocity it will give the damage.

Third I think Arcane Lightning would do fine as a GM trait merged with what we had with Ferocious Winds except instead of gaining ferocity from healing power, we should gain precision from the ferocity. Healing power and ferocity are completely unrelated attributes and it makes no sense to waste a trait for it. Changing it to function this way would make sure that it can compete with the combination of Tempest Defense + Lightning Rod, and would be unavailable for people that want to use any builds involving fresh air.

In PvE warriors are becoming un-freaking-believably strong.

Phalanx build gets one of the biggest buffs in the history of GW2. You can take 66060 and if you want to run full solo DPS you get to take 66006.

I am very sad about the disastrous nerfs to ele, but super happy about the amazing buffs to warrior.

Nope I have 23k hp in wvw and 20k hp in pve (pvp) with almost (80%) full zerker.

Spoj you have to remember, the dev said on stream that both ice bow and LH will be drastically reduced in efficacy so it’s safe to assume that even with camping water, it’d still be bad to take LH on an ele. I guess it depends just how much they nerf it.

Either way it’s really really foolish of them and shows they don’t really have a big understanding of the class. Who takes LH in PvP anyways, why’s that util out of all of them getting nerfed? If anything it needs a buff lol.

Looks like PvE warriors are going to be back in action everyone

The new specializations/traits changes are very beneficial for warriors.

Warriors will be able to run 66006 in solos for full DPS while they’ll be able to run 66060 in groups. They’re going to get berserker’s power upped to 20% after the use of a burst skill, get to keep phalanx, oh man it looks like I’m going to be returning to warrior main from my ele.

No, staff ele is getting buffed pretty majorly.

However, because the air trait line is so F***ING HORRIBLE… we can kiss D/F and probably scepter+LH builds goodbye. :/

It’s a shame.
