rift/wow/lotro and probably others all track individual stacks of debuffs, however Anet can’t afford it…
what the hell is the obsession with foci
i crafted a masterwork axe today. sorry i forgot to screenshot it and make a pointless thread about it in the wrong section. /end typical whinge
just highlights how truly awful and lacking the guild ui is after all this time. hasnt been changed at all since release, lacks indepth permissions and basic features like “last logged in” or “notes” for each member.
stupid pugs strike again, thanks anet. /thumbs up
when the group system allows this to happen, its completely the dev’s fault for making it so easy to abuse.
i got sick of raiding based games cos they were “exclusive” based that is, not just anyone could come along to a raid, instead of being “inclusive” allowing just about anybody to do stuff together, see the content all that. i started playing this because it didn’t feel like those treadmill raid based games with their restrictions and you could see/do most of this game w/o it being gated behind gear or other stuff. this addition tho.. seems to counter that idea.
was i wrong to assume these missions would be of varying difficulties? like having easy ones for people who have Level 1 Art of War versus ones you do from Level 3 Politics. to me that would just make so much more sense.. more sense than i’ve seen from Anets decisions when implementing new stuff like this in the last few months.
doesn’t anyone think the supposed rarity of this item is just stupid?
maybe if people keep creating more threads about magic find they will get tired of moderating them and say something or maybe not.
that’s the bit where you kill em and pull the chain yeh? never had that happen once pre or post-patch, not sure what else can cause npc’s to bug out like that.
have 2 people spam picking up barrels and throwing them anywhere and everywhere, have the other 3 run and place them. this has worked for me everytime for months now. eventually every bandit gets a barrel and tries to just barrel the 2 spammers to death, so unless the other 3 are completely useless they should have no issues running back once to place the last few.
so easy to get cos they only cost a couple 100$ bucks.
no one said GIMME EXOTICS. if the reward is not worth it nobody will do it, its that simple, just look at all the other events being ignored in other zones. how about stuff you cant just get anywhere or a DECENT chance for that stuff, skins, temp items whatever. “generic defensive question followed by excessive ??”
seriously.

i just hope the “rewards” arent chests of blues and/or silly little influence consumables.
try not triggering any events or cutscenes when still in combat from skipping stuff, especially the mortars.
i usually only hear about these kinda bugs when screwing around with skipping stuff and triggering cutscenes most the time or triggering a 2nd cutscene while a player is still watching a previous cutscene. never had any other issues, i love what they have done with the lava field where if he dies he just teleports next to you… so much better than before.
wouldn’t be so bummed about melee if i could actually see what most kitten bosses are doing or about to do, which can be hard sometimes with all the kitten special effects going all around me. my simple reasoning for combat favouring ranged is that there are ALOT less attacks you have to avoid at ranged distances. seems most bosses have heavy hitting melee attacks and very few ranged ones or none at all, which brings up the typical “risk/reward” arguement.
how about some bosses who have a series of ranged attacks and mostly ignore close range players… but do something destructive to melee IF there is nobody ranged. I spose that would suck for some 5 man compositions but that’s usually how a typical raid boss would work that was melee friendly, as an example that is. i cant recall any boss in here being anything like that, or maybe that kind of AI is too much effort for a simple dungeon boss vs a raid boss from another mmo.
the cosmic ballet goes on..
never get tired of RNG stories from this game, after a while i just accept its crap. (the RNG not the stories)
don’t bring randoms them, if you do you open yourself up to alot of bad ignorant players out there.
technically its Anet’s job to “instruct” players about higher level fractals and agony resistance since its their game however you could also say only a lazy player would not prepare himself with the knowledge needed to tackle these higher fractals with the right gear ie; agony resistance.
knowing when to dodge will help you alot more then any gear you equip in CoE.
wonder if they are workin on when scavs dive at you, you dodge it and they proceed to munch on the ground where as if you walk into them as they continue to do this animation for 8-10 seconds you either get knocked down and/or start taking damage as if they had pounced on you.
these things are ‘new player killers’ alot of new players i take into dungeons just get devoured by these guys, yes i know l2dodge but srsly, no mob before 30 teaches them this as quickly as this guy does.
decent players on level who actually know their class can make do with any dungeon under 80 as long as the composition isnt too terrible like 2 rangers 2 engi 1 necro. being 80 though makes a significant enough difference, exotic gear is just icing on the cake.
kinda wish they just followed what other mmo’s mostly do, that is story mode dungeons for the character as they level up, then at level cap all the “expert” modes.
in 2 runs i got 2 cores and a lode and nothing in the next 3 runs. RNG sucks, DR is worse. i doubt DR actually effects chest loot but whatever, its still a terrible system.
why couldn’t it just be 1 item for 100g.. i mean you must be a genius to make players buy something 100 times that is ONLY used for legendary and no other purpose so you will always need 100 of them just to annoy your playerbase and ruin all there mouses/fingers/hands with spam clicking. there are other cases of this too but hell this is the most expensive/pointless one.
im sure there some physiotherapists out there gettin rich off this game.
i get a tonne of crap some runs, and other runs i’ll get bugger all. it happens.
its quite hectic, definitely favours aoe mages/ranger traps plus being mobile. i prefer this tho over having the “ideal full exotic geared grp or having to play benny hill music while we run around”.
thats messed up.. pretty sure even with a 8-10 level difference you start hitting for single digits.. dont want to even think about what a 10-15 does in cof.
don’t forget chili. the reason vanilla and chili suck to obtain is because they come from those “herb patches” which also drop 6-7 other rarely used herbs whereas those 2 are found in recipes ranging from the entire 0-400 spectrum.
have 2 people pickup and spam barrel throwing etc and the other 3 place them. gets a bit annoying for the 2 people once alot of the bandits have barrels and start chain stunning but it should be over in 1-2 mins.
in the first case, your party is full of chumps not your fault i guess but you did pug i assume. with kholer or any boss.. stop letting people die than nobody has to 2man it. the door glitch sucks agreed.. all you can do is deal with it until the next round of changes ‘fixes’ it.
if you play with randoms then expect to run into kitten surround yourself with guildies that are not, best solution ever.
1. given the recent changes yes this sucks so get used it, better yet play with ppl who have reliable computers and internet connection.
2. pro tip – be the person who enters FIRST
haven’t done this since the patch but i recall only this boss giving us any real trouble. his pet seemed to be the main culprit tho which one disposed off made the rest of the fight quite simple. now i know that easier said then done, and it seems impossible to pull one w/o the other. best thing you can do is just try to kite them around and focus down the pet. if you have a mesmer u can steal the bosses buffs which he gives himself regularly and share it with your party using inspriation signet.
i just hate the start where u have to nearly kill the guy just to get his hammer.. this ontop of the rest of the place jus taking too long comparatively to other fractals.
i find him to be an annoying punk now more-so then the hungerbloom, however if anything was changed i’d be happy with a simple ‘cooldown’ on his stealth ability so he is forced to spend a certain amount of time visible before being able to use it again.
its the start of a long term reward system, get accustomed to it.
here’s an idea, don’t try so hard to min/max every stat like your 25 man raid depends on it.
was gonna mention this too, lotro does something similar with their turbine shop.. however they have a TONNE more stuff in theirs, it just blows every other game outta the water when it comes to micro-transactions. the main difference being they dont have a gem <-> game currency thing as such, their points are either bought with real cash or earned incredibly slowly from doing “achievment” like things in game.
no i don’t see your point, the guy wants experienced ppl but has NO IDEA what agony resist is, so clearly he hasn’t bothered to educate himself about the part of the game he has easily spent 10-20 hours in already and is wasting other peoples time because of it. should anet clearly explain agony resistance ingame somewhere? perhaps, is it their job to spoonfeed every player that can’t be bothered to look anything up himself? not at all.
what a joke… ppl like that annoy the crap out of me, i try to educate my guildies best i can so they dont end up making a fool of themselves like that guy.
jimminy jillikers batman thats a wall of text… i felt the same way when i first started out, never thought i’d touch dungeons again. now i can see i just didn’t understand the way this game expects you to play them, not that i necessarily think they are “great” in their current state.
dumb luck is.. dumb, that is all.
not rly a bug tho, working as intended.
do you mean all tier 6 mats? or just the fine mats, if its the later i predict a short price drop of up to 5s for some of them, then they slowly over 1-2 weeks return to their price from pre-patch.
same thing happened when they added fractals, prices dropped for a bit then mostly went back to normal.
i find the 5 seconds to skip him with our “hands waving above our head” alot faster and safer than the minute or two it take to kill him. pointless champion at start of dungeon? that’s up there with the pointless champion crab at the end of path 3.
i did this quite a bit with some of the t5 mats when they were 80c to 1s. from what i read is your supposed to get between 5-12 mats however and i know people will say RNG is RNG but after about 40~ attempts and recording them something just didnt add up. i only got a 10 11 12 once each, and over 2/3 of the time i got 5 or 6 mostly 5 tho. in the case of poison sacs it still worked out profitable, powerful blood tho wasnt until the recent price jump so i guess im glad i held onto those even with the bad rng.
doesnt seem worth it atm except with maybe blood, venom and totems since the price of t5s has gone up over 1s50 across the board and most of em seem to be fluctuating alot between 1s50 and 2s all day. personally tho i’m not fond of this recipe, it just doesnt like me.
doesn’t artificing use less ingots compared to other crafts? and yes it has potions as an alternative choice to level. from memory a staff need 4 + 2 planks for the base component, greatsword needs 3 + 3 ingots for, warhammer needs 3 ingots + 3 planks. afaik most 2 handers need 6 ingots or planks for its basic components, even some one handers needing the same amount.
its the huntsman who gets off easy, bow staves requiring 4 planks and some measily leather to make the string.
doesnt one plank in particular also need 4 logs? anyway they all used to require 2 in the early days of the game but was for some reason changed to 3 not sure why. the fact you have more ore then wood may be due to rich nodes of ore where as wood has no equivalent.
thought this was obvious but maybe not to everyone. the simplest way to tell is to look at the vendor for the particular dungeon. whatever slaying potion he sells and/or sigil is on the weapons he sells will tell you what is the correct “type”, in hotw’s case it is svanir. this counts for EVERY mob/boss in the respective dungeons, wether its icebrood or svanir or pokemon, if its in hotw you want svanir slaying.
its sposed to start on the outside of the island near the crash chopper. an npc nearby the closest waypoint usually tells you of this, however since you need the npc’s to bypass the access gate what im assuming happens is people get near the end and they give up because the champion golem is too difficult so it never finishes.
didn’t realise we could create useless threads to gloat about legendaries in the crafting section of the forums. i will continue “whining and being jealous” elsewhere, thank you for your consideration.
