Start your own group, I never have problems getting into dungeons that way.

I have never been kicked from a dungeon group before, but I also don’t join groups that are asking for zerker when I don’t have it equipped so… maybe join groups you qualify for.

Or, as suggested many times, create your own group.

Revenant Test Weekeend Questions

Ranatoa.4869

Have they answered certain questions about what happens if you are playing your beta Rev and you get daily rewards? Can they be put in the bank or are they going to be lost. What if you get the chest for the 20 laurels while playing on your rev because you didn’t notice the time? Those daily chests are character bound and they did say all progression would be lost. Can you even get daily/PvP/dungeon rewards while playing on the beta char?

Whatever you do on revenant, it wont matter. Progress from beta slot inst saved on your account. You can burn all you trasmuted stones if you wish on rev and when you log in to your “live” chars you will still have them.

They did actually say that pvp reward track progess made while playing a Revenant this weekend would count towards your account and persist after the beta, not sure what else this will apply to though.

Edit: nevermind, I checked my facts and I terribly misquoted….

“You’ll have a beta character slot you can use to create a Revenant. When playing with a beta character: all progress, items, etc. you get will not be saved once the event is completed.
You can however use your existing characters to play Stronghold, and will continue to earn rewards/progress that is permanent on your account.

Yes they did again, like they always do. Another black spot on their not anymore white vest and another reason not to but HoT getting trolled and trolled and trolled again from A-Net.

Not sure how this was a troll or mistake on Arenanet’s side. As has been pointed out many times in this thread, they were explicitly clear on what kind of access you would be getting.

The word WEEKEND isn’t capitalized n their site. Apologists on the forums clarifying poorly worded or misleading statements on their main site are not the same as a company being clear about their policy to paying customers.

Their stress test announcement came after I paid them money. Their main site needs to be changed to very clearly tell people that many events will only be open to a select group of customers.

It isn’t poorly worded, and it isn’t about what day of the week the test is occurring. It’s about whether it is or isn’t HoT content. The WvW map will be released with HoT, but it is specifically NOT HoT content. It is available to players who do not buy HoT, it is core game content, and it is not what you bought when you bought the prepurchase. The same with Stronghold… Core content. The Revenant, however, is HoT content and you are invited to Beta it this weekend with your prepurchase agreement.

Actually it pretty clearly is about the day of the week. They explicitly stated pre-purchasers would get “Access to All Beta Weekend Events”

Thursday is not the weekend, regardless of the content in the beta.

Let’s wait til 2PM. People who don’t live on the forums and log in expecting to be able to play this content will likely have the same opinion as me. Which is simply WTF?!?!?

And for those few people that do complain about it, they will be meant with the same brick wall of a fact, that is, Arenanet very clearly stated that you would be able to access all weekend beta events and unfortunately Thursday is not a weekend day.

Why use 3rd Spec slot for Elites?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Ranatoa.4869

Ranatoa.4869

Well considering that you can’t unlock elite specializations until level 80, I don’t think it particularly matters which slot it is equipped to….

As for lore reason? The also logical reason above (credit to vayne) works perfectly. Namely that it is an “elite” specialization which would infer some sort of mastery of your core profession.

Yes and no…

Yes, if you purchased before January 23rd, 2015 (and you purchase the deluxe or ultimate edition) You will get one character slot included in the bundle, plus an additional slot for being a veteran player.

No, you will not get both immediately. The one included in the bundle will be applied immediately, however, they do not yet have a method to give the additional character slot to veteran accounts yet. Once that is figured out you should receive your second character slot.

Purchased the original game or the HOT pre-purchase? As far as I know the HOT pre-purchase wasn’t available until fairly recently.

The core game, I also edited my post for clarification.

Between the title of the thread and the opening statement/question, it’s a bit confusing.

Is your query about what you might receive before release, or after release?

Either way, you can read about all the upcoming new maps and game modes for WvW and PvP in the News blogs accessed through the link above.

Good luck.

Yeah this…. I went ahead and answered what you will get from purchasing the expansion.

The WvW map and Stronghold are going to be available regardless of purchase.

Why is it being advertised as being a part of the expansion? Stronghold is being listed as a feature for HoT. If it’s being added before the expansion, is it really part of it?

Its not being added before expansion, the other poster is just mixing it up with not having to have hot to use said features.

I never claimed it would be added before the expansion, I just stated that it would be available regardless of purchase. It will most likely be released at the same time HoT launches.

The major points are probably Revenant, elite specializations, and the new craftable WvW guild items like charr tanks, etc. That last might be available anyway, hard to say without more information. Also I imagine there might be a new reward track or two in PvP, otherwise I can’t think of anything else.

The skill points you had before the patch came from three sources:

Leveling up (either by playing or via tomes)
Skill Challenges
Skill Point Scrolls.

Hero Points are earned in two ways:

Hero Challenges (the old Skill Challenges)
Leveling up from 1 to 80.

Skill Points that had been earned by skill point scrolls or “leveling up” past level 80 were converted to Spirit Shards. About 400 or so of his skill points were from leveling up to 80 and skill challenges.

Leveling Up to level 80 and completing 65 hero challenges is enough to let you unlock everything we currently have access to.

Nope, they changed it. Level 80 is now enough to unlock all core skills/traits.

Nice, didn’t catch that change.

Yep I am guessing we have the WvW community to thank for that.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

OP I think the issue is that you are looking at the training tab. Once you have spent hero points to unlock traits, they are spent and cannot be refunded, exactly like skill points were when unlocking skills.

There is a build tab to actually change which traits are equipped.

It will be available until launch. As for when that is? Your guess is as good as mine.

A bit of confusion with the recent blog post.

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Ranatoa.4869

Ranatoa.4869

1. No, it is for prepurchase only.
For all players who registered the core Guild Wars 2® game prior to January 23, 2015 and who upgrade their account by prepurchasing and registering any Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns edition before Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns‘ launch, we will add one additional character slot to your Guild Wars 2 account.

2. Most likely since they said the standard and deluxe editions will continue to be available after launch, I don’t see why they would change the base price.

3. Again most likely, but I couldn’t guarantee this based on the information provided. They will treat it the same as the core game has been treated, so if you want to wait 3 years to get it for $10 then go for it.

CONCERN-Guilds won't let EB build in hall

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Ranatoa.4869

The problem is you want player housing and that isn’t what this is. It’s called guild halls for a reason and while small guilds are very much on Anet’s radar, I very much doubt you will be able to accomplish it as a single person. This isn’t going to cause the expansion to fail since most people won’t read “guild halls” and expect “player housing”

CONCERN-Guilds won't let EB build in hall

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Ranatoa.4869

Ranatoa.4869

This is a concern of mine, since Anet is moving away from personal guilds, I may be forced to join larger guilds in order to Build.

I am not sure how you came to that conclusion…

Honestly after reading some of the interviews and all the blog posts they are focusing way too much attention on small guilds being on par with big guilds for me to worry about this. Of course it’s hard to say what a “small” guild is but based of phrases like “a few friends” make me think that even 15 or less will be possible

Guild Halls: Just for the large guilds?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Ranatoa.4869

Ranatoa.4869

I would like to know what is considered to be a small guild from what Anet said. By small does that mean a guild of 5 people can do it or small as in a guild of 20 people can do it.

This is the question we really need to ask. The blog posts are full of references to small guilds being able to do everything that big guilds can do. So we don’t need to know if small guilds can do everything, but rather what qualifies as a small guild. One quote does give me hope though…
We want guilds to be adventuring together and, ideally, getting together in a large group (or a gathering with a few extra friends)

It’s kind of a big week for them with E3 so I doubt we will hear anything until afterwards. Besides, they’ve got to take some time to make decisions and put together an official response. If they just start responding and someone says the wrong thing, they could end up in a much worse situation than they currently are.

Granted a friendly “we are looking at a solution” would be appreciated, but could you imagine the recoil if they respond with something to pacify everyone and then end up changing their minds on that again?

TL/DR I doubt we will hear anything until the dust settles.

Also I think that you shouldn’t hang up on that one-map-idea.
Look at Guild Wars 1. Maguuma Jungle is HUGE. Why do you think we should only get one map with this? We also know relativly sure that every expansion brings a new dragon. So there wouldn’t be a point to save the rest of Maguuma for a later expansion, which again means that at some point of the Living World you will get to explore everything in Maguuma.
And I say it again: It’s huge.

Instead of paying to get everything at once now, playing through it the next 3 weeks and beeing finished they keep up your motivation and your playtime for a long period of time. That’s very nice.
All you have to do is to trust them because you know that Guild Wars 2 is an awesome game and will stay an awesome game.

I think the Guild Initiative will be their method of bridging the gap between HoT/non-HoT players. Obviously I don’t know for fact, but it sounded like a lot of the basic services will be available here while more specific ones, especially ones related to the six buildings, will only be available within the guild halls.

“The Guild Initiative is a new organization that will set up its headquarters in Lion’s Arch and begin registering guilds for the cause. They’ll provide registered guilds with access to their facilities and support staff, as well as assign missions for those guilds to complete to maintain their fitness and contribute to the general welfare of Tyria.”

So? How old is WoW and people continue to play it and return to it every time one of their $50 expansions comes out. The fact is, people will and already have bought it. Dozens of people have posted that they bought the ultimate edition. Obviously this isn’t an issue, nor is the price, nor is the fact that the standard version doesn’t include a character slot.
