Behemoth (my first ever boss event – I still remember the “wow” factor")

Golem

Cinderspire (good mechanics and he can hurt you – this should be baseline diffuclty for bosses like Ulgoth who are otehrwise deeply disappointing for the build up)

Grenth (satisfying when victorious)

Jormag (Shatterer may eventually overtake and Tequatl I’m just burned out on. Undead themes bore me anyway)

I would love to see updates to Karka Queen and Ulgoth one day. They seem most pressing for attention.

They have said they want to, but it they have nothing to discuss with us on this feature yet.

Having said that, I saw a quote from a dev saying how revamping Shatterer would be something they would like to do, but would be be complicated to implement…..a month before they then announced it had been revamped.

I strongly suspect it is something being worked on in the background slowly, but they will remain tight lipped about until they have found a way to successfully implement it.

The idea would be sound 3+ years ago. Anet will not go back and add new content based on the old story, since it is a waste of their resources, resources which are stretched as it is.

Yes Zhaitan would be have been better if it was open world based or anything beyond what was produced, but that ship has sailed now. It’s pretty much a guarantee we will never see content updates for Orr regardless of how good the idea may or may not be.

wow talk about informed, any other secrets you wanna share?

Not much of a secret, in various quotes and interviews with magazines Anet themselves said they would not be revamping Zhaitan a long time ago and revamping core area was not something they wanted to do, despite realising themselves they did not get ZHaitan right.

I am in favour of the OP’s suggestion, but in light of comments made by Anet themselves on multiple occasions, I do not see this situation changing.

Even if they hadn’t have commented over the years, if LS1 is something they have been unable to fit into their schedule, logic dicates a defeated boss of past content is highly unlikely to see light of day

Except Anet, who would have to keep adding a permanent supply of events for all to access, on top of the rest of their workload, when raising the daily cap would do the same job and no add to their workload in the same way.

Except Anet gave multiple reasons why they added the cap.

Which is subject to change based on feedback, like many decisions they make. Nothing is set in stone. I disagree with their conclusions, they after consideration/feedback might also believe the cap serves no purpose any more at this point.

And not having the cap would only make it worse.

I love this logic, having a cap means NEVER being able to catch up – exactly what is worse than NEVER? I’d love to see your explanation.

If there wasn’t a cap then the players that were ahead would continue to earn AP. New players would never be able to catch up to them as they could never make up for the gap in daily AP.

The daily AP cap and historical AP are two entirely separate issues.

So what if they can’t catch them though? So few will care about that – players most just want the rewards. Let those at the top run away with the rewards or compete aginst themselves for the top of the table. Everyone else likely just wants shinies.

Cap or no cap, no one is ever going to catch those at the top unless they stop playing and if they do, only removing the cap will help shorten the gap.

For the other reasons that Anet gave which have been referenced in this thread. There was no singular reason why they capped daily AP.

Indeed, however Anet have moved away from the design philosophy of old. Items and rewards often require or “put pressure” on players to grind repeatable events or maps to get what they want, often past the point of enjoyment. Dailies I don’t think give anywhere near that kind of pressure in comparison and are a lot more organic to the way players approach the content.

I still don’t agree a cap is required or one that is set without adding onto it regularly like was suggested earlier – eg every year. Let players have the option to decide for themselves whether they want to put pressure on themselves to dailies.

But that really isn’t a goal for people. Why is 15k ap from dailies a goal? The goal for ap is the rewards and that is considerably greater than someone achieving 15k ap for dailies.

There is no “competing” with veteran players. That simply doesn’t exist as a concept here at all. Even if it did, removing the cap would actually benefit them more, since as older players naturally drop away, they willl stop doing dailies and a constant source of ap will allow newer players to catch up and “compete”.

Right now the cap hinders players more than benefits them

Remove the 15k daily AP limit please!

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Randulf.7614

Randulf.7614

What are they competing for though? Most new players are probably unaware of the cap or the leaderboards, so having a limit or any sort of comparison seems counter productive. For the majority of people, all they want are the AP rewards, not how they stack up with others.

AP are now much more limited since they dramatically reduced how many you get for an achievement with HoT, plus new players will never obtain the old AP associated with LS1, meaning any form of competing veteran players is null and void completely.

I see no reason for a cap anymore, since no level playing field exists. Let new players have an unlimited source of AP to allow those higher reqrds to be obtainable and let Veterans continue to let their numbers soar at the top

2H Axe and javelin/land spear seem to be fan favourites over the years.

I like the idea of swinging a morningstar, although I’m not sure what it would add. I just like the satisfying crunch hammers, maces and morningstars make!

Chakram/discus/shuriken/boomerang type throwing weapon also sounds fun.

Martial Arts. I think GW2 is well set up for a fast flowing martial arts specialisation. I’m sure a yellow jumpsuit in the gem store would be a perfect accompanying money spinner as well!

Open a support ticket, it’s the only suggestion we can give you. Other than maybe reviewing the naming policy as well.

Reviewing the naming policy?

That’s a good joke! My name doesn’t break any policy. It’s completely inoffensive; as I pointed out there’s ARMOR IN THE GAME called “Stalker” so if my name is offensive, Anet should change the name of the armor too.

If Anet regard the two words put together as reference to something that is considered offensive to a wider audience, then they will consider it a tos break and intervene.

Support will confirm if this is the case or whether an error has occurred or whether the possibility of something strange on your account is occurring.

Randulf.7614

Have you contacted support? That would be your first port of call before the general forums. If it’s legit, then they will explain that. If it’s an error, they will fix it.

Well, I know it’s not legit because a) there was nothing wrong with the name and b) they just changed my name themselves without giving me the option to change it.

Considering the amount of genuinely offensive names I see around that remain unchanged, I think it’s safe to say that somebody who works for ANet has taken a special interest in messing with me.

You wont know it is legit until you contact them. Yes there are worse running around, but if a player didn’t report them so the name could be reviewed, then they are getting away with it. If it your name is a legit change (and I can see why it might be), then it is because it was reported by a player and a support agent reviewed the name and changed it. They are well within their rights to do so as well since it is part of the ToS of the game and in fact many MMO’s use an identical policy of changing the name on your behalf, although I agree they should prompt you to change it yourself.

If it is an error then it will be reversed.

I found a big pro to be the way masteries, collections, precursor crafting, gave additional relevance to core zones.

I like HoT, but the biggest cons are in my opinion.

- could have used another map or two. Or least less emphasis on meta events to avoid repeitive gameplay
- the disconnect problems
- incredibly short story. Arguably shorter than season 2 if you take the mastery gating out of the equation.
- whilst i like the difficulty, it isnt well balanced for all players. Prob needed a better difficulty learning curve compared to core content.
- the overall feeling is grindy. That is the sum of too many things needing you to do the same content over and over. Its a trap the game has fallen into a bit too far. I think more maps and meatier story would have helped break this up somewhat.

And pros
- the metas are still fun to play despite being repetitive
- gliding is awesome
- masteries fit the game perfectly for horizontal progression
- the difficulty level is raised
- excluding balance issues, the elite specialisations are on the whole great fun to play
- Verdant Brink and Auric Basin are decent, well designed maps
- precursor crafting allows for a long term goal at a low cost
- Revenants are cool

The final boss will appear regardless of how many camps are kept capped or bosses killed. Once the bar is filled, the final boss event will happen, guaranteed. Capping and successfully defending those 4 camps, fills the meta event bar quicker to get to that point.

Your server has no effect. Just look for SW (silverwastes) or VW (vinewrathe) in the open world section of lfg. Silverwastes is one of the most populated maps in the game – you wont have issues taxiing into a decent one using lfg.

The defence level isn’t really a priority, but having small groups keep the camps held whilst players join the map is key. Then it will start the boss rounds and then the final boss, regardless of how well the boss rounds before it have performed.

Well first it was a tongue boss, now it is a nostril. At some point there will be a nose boss and an ear boss then you get to fight Jay Leno. The hair boss should be interesting. I guess the last raid boss is just going to be some sort of floating head.

That sounds familiar. Perhaps the next SAB boss given the nostalgic link

XP not carried over to next line in mastery?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Randulf.7614

Randulf.7614

No, it will only carry into a line you directly select from the menu. The mastery points unlock the one you are on, but also unlock access to levelling the next line of the mastery. Part of the idea is to prevent ppl gaming the system, getting all the xp first and then getting the mastery points after and being less tactical on how you spend your mastery points.

I can see why you might have thought it would carry over, but to me it’s much more logical in the way it currently works.
