After today’s news from Mike, has anyone changed their mind about pre-ordering the next expansion when they are not delivering on what they promised?
Not really. I do kinda agree with his decision and legendaries aren’t greater than actual content for me. They clearly over reached hence why they started expac 2 already
HoT remains unfinished I will grant that, but I’ve enjoyed to enough to continue into new expansions.
I do get the flipside of why people wouldn’t preorder. Anet have shot themselves in the foot somewhat
I’m intrigued by the name…!
Also, appreciate the comms, especially via the forums. It’s a shame to see this since it was part of the HoT package players paid for, but it is, what is is.

I hope phalanx armor comes back on an oncore for the last day or something gutted i missed it again.
Support can be accomodating depending on the time scale if you submit a ticket. I got an item a few hours after it expired by an extremely helpful support GM
Yes . I just bought one in fact

I thought it might, but it’s hard enough keeping track of what’s going on around me these days let alone across the water
You forget to mention the new maps… love them or not, you have to admit they are some of the most interesting map designs in any game. I won’t be surprised if a good deal of dev resources went into those.
I agree. Whilst TD especially is a ball-ache of a map, in many ways its very intricacies also make it an interesting map for exploring and was probably very time consuming from a design perspective.
Sure, we needed less metas and more exploring and other roaming rewards and DS was probably the biggest disappointment as a “map” (for me), but you’re right…love them or hate them, hard work went into those.
Increasing the stats will not happen. You’re are perfectly entitled to want that and that is fine and feeding that back is fine, but the reality is, this is not the foundation this game was built on nor is it why people play this game. Not increasing stats is of huge importance to a the core of this community and is why it can’t happen, let alone wont.
What makes you different from the player next to you? Your build. Your weapon sets. Your utility choices. Your wardrobe. These are where Anet can build upon to make characters more unique. This world is rich with players in a vareity of different looks, using build, skills, weapons they want to use.
Compare that to say Lotro, where a Champion for years had the same skills as another Champion and everyone was a cookie cutter, because everyone grew identically with their profession. The stats didn’t really imply much, since the variety was so stale.
Progression can and should be something beyond just raising those numbers just a bit more each time.

I think the scope was bigger than what they could achieve ie – they wantd to do more, but were limited by time and resources. The story is probably the best example aside of the legendary weapon fiasco. They wanted something that was a short, burst. But, that makes no sense for an expansion story. It was just over so quickly. If this was a deliberate choice, then perhaps it was timeframes that narrowed down that scope to such limitations. Expectations for a long and strong story for expac 2 will be high now to rectify this.
New fractals weren’t advertised. Raids we knew would be delayed and that was to allow people to settle into the main content. That was a sensible decision imo.
Gliding in Tyria made more sense as a feature post-HoT and was part reactive to the popularity of it anyway.
WvW…I think they just got it wrong there. I don’t think time or readiness was the issue. It just went wrong and was misjudged badly.
I don’t feel cheated – I have thoroughly enjoyed the expac. I don’t dismiss the issues at hand many have discussed mind you and lessons will have to have been learned for the next one.
What form of progression are you after? There will be no raised level caps by their own admission and there would be uproar if they tried. Same with new gear tiers. This just isn’t that sort of game.
HoT added masteries and elite specialisations, so set the framework for progression beyond pure cosmetics.
What else are you after?
In the UK, GAME take traded in games in exchange for gem cards. May not sounds like a worthwhile trade, but it can cut down costs.
Plus, as Gaile says, they make a more personable gift
Don’t forget, our clocks go forward Sunday, for those who rely on boss timers/reset etc by memory. Not everyone is a real life Chronomancer after all!
I have extras sitting in the bank I can send you… oh, wait, nevermind, they are account bound…
Same. I have 3 ravens in my storage I can’t send. Would love to gift them if I could
I have different sets themed for different toons.
I like the idea of of buying a blank template and then purchasing additional “skins” for your tools, accessible via the character menu like finishers and glider skins.
That was an interesting interview for all its brevity.
We can certainly speculate on what will happen if only one Elder Dragon is left, but nobody knows for sure
This does seem to be a direction they want to lead us in. Perhaps leading to a super powered final Dragon
The Pact has been weakened by the events in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns, but it still exists
Personally I was sad to see this. The Pact feels harmful to the story, making the orders lose much of their flavour and uniqueness. A united front I can understand, but the Orders working separately would be so much more fun and really give depth and variety to story arcs. Something so desperately needed right now after the scale of problems in the current story
The magic used to create Tequatl is no longer being controlled by Zhaitan, but it still exists within Tequatl
We guessed this, but nice to (finally!!!) have official confirmation
A lot of people use greatswords—these aren’t foreshadowing, nor are they hints toward the reaper specialization. Sorry!
I suspected as much. It also shows they weren’t as early with HoT planning as originally some people suspected. I have no issue with this being the case though.
Whilst it was hardly a revealing interview, it was nice to hear from Ree after such a long absence (seemingly). Would approve of more regular Q&A lore sessions. Maybe quarterly?
Tybalt also has wider appeal across the age groups, mature gamers and kids will find something to like about his character, whereas Forgal prob only identifies with grumpy ol’buggers like me
I joined a map for teq at the middle of the night after it started. There were 50 or more tags up.
Thats psychological warfare for you….
Are you NA or EU op? Certainly EU is packed for most boss events
I go through phases. I used design around survivability primarily, with toughness amd healing builds. Lately this sums up where I am leaning towards with new alts. And yes I make my own builds, for better or worse. Cant stand metas.

Having both the Fiery Dragon sword and Jormag’s Breath I feel safe to say that they DO need to be on fire all the time.
Not broken. Doesn’t need a fix.
One side of you must suffer horribly with chillblains…
if one must suffer horribly to be fashionable, then one must suffer. What can be done? They don’t call this game Fashion Wars 2 for nothing and in all wars there are winners and losers, pain and suffering. Woe to us to be living in such hard times where one must both burn and freeze in the name of fashion, but thus it is.
“With what characters she had filled this lost stage of emptiness! It was here that she would see the people of her imagination, the fierce figures of her making, as they strolled from corner to corner, brooded like monsters or flew through the air like seraphs with burning wing."

The perma fire is part of the charm and why many of us have been drawn to it since launch of GW2 and through the life of GW1. Changing any part of of the fiery dragon sword would not go down well I’d imagine.
That looks awesome!
It says it’s a gem store item, so maybe next week’s glider
Confirmation that the next expac involves tyranids!
The forum cannot be fixed since they do not have a relationship with the contractor anymore and no devs free to make a new one.
Im sure we would all welcome an improved forum experience
Cant comment and n whether this affects the main site though in the same way
Except an entire tier isnt really locked behind raids. Legendary and ascended are essentially the same, except you can switch stats on the fly, something that is neglible outside of raids anyway and just something they added as a tiny extra.
Then raiders would have no problem with legendary functionality being obtainable outside of raids, right? I mean, it’s a little thing, apparently. A “tiny extra”.
I am quite certain they wouldnt and that you are correct.
The point was it leaves legendaries as exclusive skins, which is the same reward in essence as GW1, which was what the post was replying about.
I think people just need to know that not everyone that doesn’t want to raid is necessarily lazy or incapable. Some of us just don’t enjoy it.
You can not want to raid and still enjoy a challenge…just a different type of challenge.
I don’t disagree with that, but that’s an internet community issue. Anet made some fairly stupid statements about ascended requirements which fueled that, but otherwise it’s a difficult situation for them control. At least no in game inspections/dps meters exist, but I don’t think the elite Vs casual mentality, which is what it boils down to eventually, can be overcome.
Whilst people continue to post lfg entries like “experienced only” all they are doing is continuing the ongoing trend for raids dying away, by putting walls up for new players. These appeared less than a week after the 2nd wing appeared and yet the vast majority of players could never be experienced so soon.
This is why raids are dying away in MMO’s. It’s not because of rewards, it’s not because they are too hard, it’s because it is fashionable for players to block players out.
But that’s a subject for a different thread
Why do you think only raiders would be interested in this..
Because you yourself amongst other have stated this in the past and that only speedrunners and min/maxers would ever want mutiple sets and even defended against needing ascended as having changing stats because of it.
Legendary is not realistically a tier. Not in the same way exotic is to ascended. Legendary adds at most, convenience and is the perfect reward for hardcore content, since few would ever put so much effort into getting a full set of legendary armour just for stat switching, when getting multiple ascended would be incredily easier and still require roughly the same number of double clicking to equip. What it adds, is an exclusive skin.
Regardless, we should all be well aware Anet never stick to what they say. You as a rightfully staunch defender over the years of the “manifesto” are only too aware that most of what Anet say is subject to changes as their business and visions evolve. Pretty certain we will one day see legendary armour as a reward outside of raids, but for now I believe it is in the right place as an ‘early access’.

Essentially these raids are for skins and minis. This is no different to GW1. And not forgetting certain greens in GW1 were locked behind hm dungeons. Again they werent essential either as they were on par with what could be found or made, its just they came pre parcelled for convenience.
Disliking raids and what the bring is fine. Disliking them because they bring exclusive tiered rewards is not applicable to this game at this time.
A feathered foot is symbolic for light footed or fast on the feet, which is what Daredevils thematically are meant to be.

That looked awesome. I grew up on games like Escape From the Planet of the Robot Monsters, so this brought back fond(ish) memories!
Accordng to the dev tracker, Mike O Brien said that April quarter devlopment had not been locked down yet, but was due to be in a couple of weeks.
Once that has happened, I would expect we will hear more
This happens a lot. I vaguely remember Gaile saying to email these examples to them and they take any necessary steps where they can.
I have no idea who Randy Orton is, but I am always for new finishers, hence I fully support that request!
It would be copyrighted, but it would be so much fun as a “dream finisher”. Not going to happen, but it is a fun suggestion
Well this topic came outta nowhere…
Only 1st Gen legendary weapons, those forged by using a precrusor, specific weapon gift, gift of fortune and gift of mastery, can be bought/sold/traded.
Any legendary weapon created using the collections is considered 2nd Gen and is account bound, cannot be bought/sold/traded.
That’s how I understand it. http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Legendary_weapon
The first bit you state is correct, the second is not. A legendary can be sold if forged using a precursor made via a collection as long as it isn’t a HoT legendary.
A second generation legendary currently are only the HoT ones. The originals are first generation regardless of how the precursor is created – collection/forged,/drop

Yes as long it isn’t any of the new batch of legendaries – ie, Nevermore, Hope and Astralaria since they are account bound when made.
It’s not broken, it was intended to be harder than killing him. Not sure why since it provides virtually no advantage. I just did a map which broke him 3 times and all it did was slow the dps as everyone waiting on the launch pads until the timer hit the point for jumping off to break.
It requires coordination and it is doable, I’m just not getting why it is necessary or why it should be so difficult. If it made a major tactical advantage then that would be a great incentive, but I’ve never seen one in the times I’ve seen the bar broken.
I love a lot of your ideas. Nightfall was where GW1 really took off for me. The story in Propehcies and Factions was pretty dire (for me) and it started a turn around in both story and gameplay, so I fondest memories in Elona above all.
It’s also where the Order of Whispers was founded and felt a lot more unique and less watered down than the current version.
I’ll have to think on Specialisations. It’s just crying out for Dervish, even if lore it would need a new identity.
The events you refer to were a special weekend )or week I forget) event. One that was such a disaster it was essentially wiped from the memory of the community. Even when we aksed whether the tokens could be re-used and an answer promised, the subject was never raised again. The event is gone for good I’m pretty confident in saying.
Will they return to the gem store? Yes. Everything sold via the gem store always returns, at an unspecified date. Keep an eye out on every day during March especially.
Rather than throwing a forum paddy, try sending a ticket to support nicely asking if they will sell it to you since you missed the sale. There is precedent for this, but usually after a shorter window, but it is worth trying
1 – Build Templates? Never used it in GW1 and doesn’t bother me to not have it in GW2
2 – Improve rune/sigil system? What system? Been playing since head start and have yet to add any to anything … matters not to me what they are
3 – Bring back older skins? Does not bother me since I don’t buy them …….
4 – Poor Supply of Mystic Coins? Really? I think I have sold 1,000 of them since the start of the game if not more.None are important to me … maybe important to you
Don’t try to speak for everyone
He’s not speaking for everyone, he’s listing his own personal issues and encouraging others to think about what they would have as questions for an AMA.
1) Older skins, I’d go with
2) Build templates, for sure
3) Mystic coins….50/50 here. Maybe because I suddenly need so many it’s a new issue for me
4) Any development progress on LS1. This is big for me as it is a gap for my alts, but also is a huge story problem for the game and is probably massively off putting for many players.
5) Easy mode for raids. I’m actually not bothered about such a thing existing, but I am interested in their thoughts on it either way.
6) GW2 merchandise. This was briefly heavily pushed on the forums as a suggestion thread by Gaile once, but never went anywhere. I’d love more things like the Shatterer statue etc.
7) Why has underwater been so heavily culled? No new skins via BL. No combat balances. Virtually no new content beyond an almost empty tunnel under TD, which was brimming with potential for exploration and secrets to find stuff in.
That would be my list to see addressed via an AMA
Awesome idea. I need to put more than 15 characters in this message, so I will use them to applaud.
Slightly off topic, but you don’t need 15 chars. Just hit the spacebar the requisite number of times
Free to play is heavily restricted. All info is on their main website
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/play-for-free-today/
So yes, you are better off as someone who paid for their copy than someone who downloaded it for free
It’s not a bad idea at all and is essentially similar to the way precursor crafting works, but a bit more focussed.
The issue is one of resources. One of the reasons the legendaries are taking this long, is that tying them all to events and collections and items, is time consuming, especially when they now need to ensure everythign works.
In short, it’s a decent idea and thematically in keeping with the game, but it would probably slow down production of new weapons if too many were added in this way.
I think Anet is taking so long to release pres not because of collections but because they are trying to make them somewhat time consuming. It doesn’t necessarily have to be that why with other weapon skins. Hell, I can buy a BL weapon 10 seconds after it comes out.
No but they already have said in the past, the process is on average one month for one new legendary, including tying it all up to events, collections and making new items and of course the visual design. Black lion weapons on the other hand are just the visuals.
Perhaps a new weapon that isnt legendary would be shorter, but it would be a lot more involving than the black lion sets.
I still approve of the idea though and focussing the themes in such a way. Mjolnir and Volcanus would mean more as journeys than mystically forged as an example, even if the mat reqs were the same.

I hope when it does return, it will ve permanent, to avoid all this happening again.
Also…post 3000! \o/
I will offer a shout out. I missed an item leaving the gem store by an hour and a very friendly and helpful GM allowed me a one off buy of it.
Great service, im fnding more and more reasons to compliment their support these days
And the hype train leaves its final station…..heading onwards….second star to the right and straight on ’til morning.
Choo choo!
Best of luck!

By any chance are you doing the HoT story and have an egg on your back? If so, it will go after the next story step. Or the one after, I forget
