Who the frell is Malyck?
Mesmers are all about creating illusions… they’re good at it… so they just made you think they’re OP.

In that case, his class should be able to “engineer” a way to be op
They are bright, there’s no doubt about it. I mean, the modrem will see me coming from the next region.
And yet… I love them.
They dye incredibly well I have to say and that is a good look sported there, but….
Isn’t purple the official colour of evil in Tyria….? Perhaps Gaile is the villian for the 2nd expac….
;)
The Money Dragon!!
I knew it!!
Back in my day, you had to farm for 75 ectos and be rank 5 Deldrimor to be able to afford those.
I don’t know, these kids have it easy
Yeah, yeah, Randulf, and don’t forget "farm _in the snow, uphill, without a weapon, and no armor, and…
Well I didn’t want to brag, but ….
I hope the destroyer gloves return, albeit I think I’d prefer to earn those ones. I felt quite satisfied when my ele finally got his gloves after many runs protecting that baby dragon..

p.s are they dyeable like the originals?
There’s a lot of places where gliders are disabled that they really shouldn’t be (like Dreamdark Enclave, where they would be very useful at keeping you from falling to your death and not much else).
Also they’re not allowed in that big dredge mine in the middle of Dredgehaunt (it isn’t even a jumping puzzle) because… reasons? That’s another “boy, being able to glide and not fall to my death would sure be handy” area.
That area in Dredgehaunt becomes an unofficial JP when the Guild Rush is activated

What did you use to create the image by the way?
Skinned orphans? Man, Zommoros will take anything now wont he!
Throw a paper aeroplane into the office. Whoever picks it up, gets to answer the question for you Gaile.

Open world is nigh on impossible to design for challenging content. It doesn’t work to design content for 100+ people to skilled enough at the same time. That is not what open world is for.
That said, the below all have non-zerg mechnaics
- Triple Wurm
- Vinewrath (silverwastes)
- Various meta bosses in Verdant Brink
- Auric Basin Octovine
- Chak Gerent (Tangled Depths)
- The end sections of Dragon Stand
These, whilst not “hard” (except maybe TT) require organisation and that is where the challenge is. High level fractals and raids are where the challenge is. Open world HoT was challenging on launch for regular play, but was recently slightly nerfed due to massive unpopularity.
The toxicity will exist still in dungeons, fractals and even more so in raids. It’s a sad fact of life of an MMO.
New content. We just had an expansion. We will continue to get expansions with LS seasons in between going forward. So to answer your question, it will be mixed. LS require the expac to play and I believe when you buy HoT, you are esentially paying for LS3 (I’m not 100% on that, but someone will clear it up for sure)
Gem store. It fund the game and does a good job of it. I’m not sure what you mean about “market considerations”, but there are regular new items in there. Yes, it would be nice to have more armours and gliders in game, but to be honest, I’d rather this than a sub which is the only alternative to fund a game of this size and scope. Despite any conspiracy theories you will hear, it does not get added to at the expense of the main game.

It’s not listed on the known issues tracker, so I’m guessing auras aren’t part of the new fix
Some of the costumes work really well. I’m not a fan of the names, but I can see why you’ve used them – more as labels to the theme it would seem?
Some very interesting ideas in there
I like the look of that black and white Norn – back, mid
As far as i have always known, exotics have a higher chance to produce more rather than a higher chance to produce any at all
Consider me impressed…and that’s quite the achievement!
We paid for expansion where they promised new legendaries. Not sure if they promised full set. And even if so, did you buy expansion because of new legendaries? Was it a reason you spent 50 bucks?
Not at all, I would never be that crazy. Doesn’t change the fact that they are still part of the expansion and that is fully paid for. All advertised features, even if delayed by x amount of time, should not be subject to further payment.
This shouldn’t be encouraged. It can not only skew development in favour of those with the most money to spend, but we already have the option to support them with gems.
Plus we already paid for the legendaries.
The OP said they spent 3 hours and was failing fractionally short of getting gold. I figured they finally did it, since it was deleted shortly after they posted.
Scaling keeps low level maps relevant. Having gone back to Lotro recently only to find 90% of the game irrelevant, it just feels wasted.
It’s a huge and outstanding feature of the game and I’m extremely happy we have it.
I think the opposite: I find it does more harm than good to my gaming experience.
Then it is likely this is not an MMO that will appeal to you long term, since it is vastly enhancing and enriching hundreds of thousands of players. I’ve played many MMO’s for 12 years. They all have their own individual selling points, but no MMO should be following a set rule or definition. Anet designed their game to break pre-conceived boundaries because that’s what video games should do.
Does GW2 work with it’s scaling system? Unfailingly. It’s by far and away one of the biggest draws to this game and it will never be something that will change. I make few guarantees about a games future, this however is one of them. GW2 would fall apart without it, since it cannot keep zones and bosses and events and a living world relevant without it.
If you don;t like it, that is fine. If you don’t think it should exist, that’s fine. Will it exist? Always, so the question is not whether they should change it, but whether you are willing to adapt to it.
It’s the same argument people have used to defend D&D rping versus countless other fantasy rpgs. Despite the opposing styles between say D&D and Savage Worlds tabletop rping, they are both “true rpgs” to use your vernacular. The same is true of GW2 vs Everquest. Both are “true” MMO’s, they just approach it in different ways.
And you know what? That’s actually a good thing.
It’s why I stopped raiding in MMO’s. Requirements for items and gear found in raids used to gate people from raids is circular logic from a community.
The thing is, this is why raids always get neglected as content long term. The more people get shut out, the more it looks like people aren’t doing raids and the less updates raids get. Happens in many MMO’s. TSW even went as far as saying if people didn’t actively participate in the raids (ie stop blocking others from joining), then there was little chance of any raids being added again.
All this is doing is long term damage to the future of the very content these players seem to think they are protecting.
From the wiki on Sunrise but sense it is for gift of fortune the approximations still apply.
I think they are looking at an average cost based on buying mats Vs selling non-clover rewards. Which given the high fluctuation of values and randomness of the result, is unlikely to be possible.
really? Is that new for legend shortbow only?
No it is on legendaries across the board
The drop rate for those weapons has been massively increased. It is either guaranteed or near guaranteed from reports Ive heard

Who is to say new weapons would generate hype to say attract new players.
If I didn’t play GW2, if the game added whips and boomerangs and advertised that, would I suddenly want to play GW2? No.
However, I’m a long time player of GW2 and new weapons still hold little interest to me.
I’m not saying new weapons aren’t popular, but I don’t see them doing for this game what people believe. Same with new races. And any benefits either of those would bring, would likely be outweighed by the drain on resources to not only implement, but also to continue to support in terms of skins, story, dialogue, VO etc etc
I think this is one of the biggest challenges I have found with this game. I’ve spent a lot of time running around aimless/clueless. I think if there was a proper training for new players it would have been a better experience. This doesn’t include reading online ‘wikis’, but real in-game content for players to go through, or sign-posts to help you along the way and guide you.
This includes things like armour/weapon upgrades, runes, accessories and so on. Everything’s a abit up in the air and you just have to play around and quiz yourself to get answers. It also took me a while to work out the layout of the Guild window, which confused me much in the beginning. I reckon a lot of this comes down to it being such a huge game.
Please also include some kind of training/guidance for players entering Fractals levels for the first time. The basic story that you follow is so vague and offers no clue about what you physically are required to do as a team.
I’m not psychic, and not everyone who plays Guild Wars 2 is a ‘pro’. Some of us noobs need a bit more user-friendly experience.
:)
When GW2 launched it had very few guidances and players worked out things for themselves. Or at least so we all thought – there were no indications players were struggling to understand anything. However, Anet had metrics and evidence to the contrary and their research showed the whole "new player experience " was inadequate for attracting and retaining a large sub-section of players.
What happened over a year (I think) down the line was a full re-vamp of the NPE and further changes to the trait system (which were reversed due to chaos). What you are playing now is a slightly tweaked version of that NPE, with the training and guidance systems that are in place, that weren’t at launch. The NPE was not well received in places for various reasons (it wasn’t actually that bad, but you wouldn’t have believed that from the bellowing that went on)
I’m not saying they shouldn’t re-vamp the NPE at some point, but the last one is still fresh in many a mind and I think the resulting chaos will discourage Anet until they feel the time to address it come back round and that is unlikely until we are 1-2 more expacs in and they want to streamline players through their content better.
Right now, the absolute top priority is content though. We’ve had a feature and systems heavy expac followed up by 2 quarters of more features and systems. Now all their resources need to be on the content and WvW.
We play in very much in a generation of gaming where outside resources like Wiki and Dulfy are considered as much a part of the game as the game itself, so I think using them for now is a good way of helping players without devs expending precious resources. Not to mention utilising Guilds for help and advice.
I loved the journey for and the Legendary itself, Nevermore. The collections are very worth it to me as tossing all my savings hopelessly in the Mystic Toilet is awful and it just feels wrong to have to buy a precursor off of the TP. I have played since Beta and zero precursors dropped while playing. (I did attempt to get into the precursor farming market but lost all of my starting capital and then some forging two Dusks to sell.)
I also did the collection for Dusk, but was not as pleased with that.
I noticed the core precursors lacked the same level of journeying. I can understand that as they had a lot to churn out at once, but if the shortbow is evidence of how the others are, then I’ll probably step up and do Nevermore as well. I’m not really fussed about the legendaries themselves, but the collections have make for some fun interrim content.
Honestly the journeys sound really fun. I have a guildmate doing the new shortbow and his adventures sound exciting.
Unfortunately I don’t have the funds to do them. I just don’t farm hard enough to ever be that rich.
I would perhaps encourage you to do the first collection. Apart from 5g to start and a few minor mats, it is cost free and you can just leave it after that if you wish. The sub-collection within the main collection was just enjoyable to follow along with. It’s also enhanced if you use a character with low map completion, since you can explore whilst you venture across the entire continent.
I can see your point of view, but I would never look at it like that. If I don’t spend gold, then it’s free to me. I don’t look at the value of something I farm, I collect what I need, when I need it and then craft with those mats. Economical efficiency in a video game is just not something I personally put any store in, especially since I don’t pure farm – I’m usually doing other things on a map whilst I gather.
Collections are never more expensive unless you buy the mats in between instead of collecting what you need. Collections give you various options:
- farm everything, making the collections neglible in price in comparison
- use some mats from your own storage and buying the rest – still works out cheaper
- buy every single required material -The same price or more than buying the pre
Collections also give you some extra content to do whilst you go about it.
I am loving, absolutely loving the shortbow quest. If you do it w/o waypoints, it feels even more like a journey as you track the tigers. I have no use for the short bow, but the collection is fun enough that I don;t really mind. It’s a bit buggy, but I’ve forgiven that so far
If this is the calibur of what we can expect from future legendaries, I will have many hours of extended adventures ahead, regardless as to whether the weapon is needed or not.
You go buy a lottery ticket right now!
Buy me one while you are at it…!
They’d also need to add in more skins for future BL collections whilst leaving many gaps in old BL collections (since collections are locked in) and potentially add more Legendaries into an already paused system due to workload. And then complicating a balance system which they are massiveyl struggling with already
I would be extremely surprised if we ever see new weapons for GW2 now. I don’t think they will find it is worth the development time for new weapons for very little gain. I really can’t see adding more weapons onto a base of 19 would help retain/attract more ppl.
As Nike alluded, Elites allow them to be more creative with existing options (eg staff now becoming melee) and spread weapons/new skills to different classes.
Eventually, like all items it will reappear
You can buy up to 2000 from the gem store, starting from a base of 250

I’m not sure about Agony, since that’s a lot of space, but I doubt anyone is going to argue about more mat space and a key ring. The devs also said they liked the idea of a key ring, but wasn’t something currently looking to be developed.
I do think we will see one though
Post in the official sticky on the pvp forum to get pulled out in future or if u have matchmaking issues as a result of the new build and being previously stuck. The pvp dev who pulls ppl out checks there regularly and pulled loads out last night.
It is a known problem that has been occuring for a very long time. I suspect if it was fixable, it would have been by now

Check the bugs forum. There’s a thread where a QA addresses bugs on this one and has some workarounds until fixes go live
Yup, same here… Got out but says match is in progress, cannot start a new one.
Also, a warning pops up everytime I change map, saying “The game client is unable to gain access to the log in server… [more stuff] & a code error”
Am also getting randomly logged out from the game, along some other network error message.
Also, this
New build allowed out, but still cant match make until fixed
You will lose birthday gift for that character. If that character old enough these gifts can be valuable. At least 3th year gift was awesome.
They said they’d keep the toon for birthdays
Post in the sticky on the pvp forum and wait it out
We’re all stuck in SKyhammer Beta. It’s like Groundhog Day here..doomed to pvp through all of time and space forever…
Also, what gear? I used the same buffs, with mostly vipers gear on a reaper and got well under half what you posted.
