Can World Boss Shadow Behemoth be reworked

I’d agree, however he’s there as an “ooh aaah” spectacle for new players. He is pretty impressive for a first map boss to walk into. He did get a revamp, and it did make him last longer, but they said after the revamps starter bosses were something they didn’t want to make harder.

Shatterer and Karka Queen would be first in line for revamps in my opinion. I don’t think they paint the game in a good light, no matter how cool Shatterer looks.

Auric is a tad simpler, but not much. A lot of people seem to enjoy it the most whom I have spoken to.

Tangled Depths is many, many times worse. I am not exaggerating either. It’s kinda cool how it feels from a jungle perspective, but probably one of the most difficult to navigate zones I have ever seen in an mmo.

Dragons Stand is much simpler, but is essentially a giant meta map, made up of 3 lanes heading towards a boss fight. SOme areas remain inaccessible until after the final boss is dead.

So no, the areas do not get any easier overall.

Ah! Thanks for the information. I apparently didn’t read far enough in the posts.

I think my point still stands. Much easier if they just state the time period at the time they announce, so we know right up front and don’t miss it (as I obviously did) when its posted at another time or place.

This has been an issue since about halfway through Living World 1. At one point it was raised after every 2 week release, but it made no difference. They just stopped giving regular end dates. They occasionally remember to do so, but it’s rarer now than it was.

At least Gaile did get the info to us eventually

Maybe they can’t fly, but they looks exactly like a birds after all.

Well, except for the arms part, and the size. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a human sized bird, with arms instead of wings, flying around my yard.

Ok, there was that one time, but it was New Years Eve and alcohol was involved and the police told me to go home and go to bed when I reported it……

Is your yard near Route 66? I heard that’s haunted by man sized Bird Men.

Someone in my Role playing group even wrote an Rp setting round it…

I hear Final Fantasy has a casino, I think GW2 should have something like this too.

It’s a shame that FFXIV has lost all three rolls of their casino craps tosses for a winning MMORPG. I had such high hopes for FFXIV since I really enjoyed playing FFXI, but their initial 1.0 was pretty bad followed by poorly done reboots of 1.2 and 2.0.

It’s a matter of opinion though. It still remains one of the most played MMO’s in the world, which for a sub is incredible. The reboot has been critically acclaimed. I don’t prefer it to GW2, but it has done extraordinarily well for itself.

Back to the OP, I understand what you mean and some of the activities mentioned aren’t well implemented, but it is an action orientated game, so it is to be expected the emphasis is there. I will argue that Guild Races and Guild Treks are absolutely excellent additions to this game, especially races since you can work together outside of the Guild for completion.

What could we add?
- Fishing maybe. I love fishing in Lotro for eg and if as well implemented, I’d be a fan
- SAB to retun. It’s more puzzle/jumping content and its return would be very welcome as a break from the pure action
- Polymock. I doubt we will ever see this now, but it’s popular with GW1 players and was very good

Glint's Bastion and other weapon collections

Yeah, the machined weapons and associated rng are far worse than the adventure being gated. And to get a machined weapon, you need a plated weapon and that requires a successful dragon stand meta, and for you to have collected the tokens you need in your inventory.

Collections are meant to be more challengimg and they dont lock out your Revenant in any way

600gold gone, due to websites lying

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Randulf.7614

Whilst the material value is very high, you needn’t spend hundreds of gold. They are designed as long term goals and can cost very little if you gather and craft. If you aim to complete quickly and not gather/craft, then the cost is naturally going to be very high, a mechanic in place to prevent everyone gaining precursors immediately.

I do think some of the materials costs are either overtuned or imbalanced when you compare different precursor reqs, but the gold bill people are footing is simply down to players wanting rush through and get the precursor as quickly as possible.

Randulf.7614

It hasn’t changed no. The maps were never empty and overall still aren’t, it’s just that at the beginning, the megaserver technology wasn’t working properly.

They have fixed that, but due to lots of full meta maps and ofc Wintersday going on the illusion of the game seeming empty in Maguuma still exists. You will still find plenty of players around, but for most maps you will need to taxi if you want to join the meta.

As for tips, well an active Guild is your best option or have a look at the profession forums for tips on builds to help solo through the maps.

Can small guilds Scribe?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Randulf.7614

Randulf.7614

Our guild is 5 active players, of which 2-3 play regularly and just me who plays daily. We are currently levelling 2 scribes (albeit very slowly). It took us a while to get the Guild Hall, but after that it was about a week to get the reqs needed to unlock the Scribing profession.

The easiest way to get favour for us was via Guild Treks. Eventually we were able to complete the medium level ones as well and thus start accumulating more favour.

Now we are doing weekly missions, including bounties (when not broken), treks and races (which are easy when another Guild is running the same race when you go there)

It’s a fascinating map though, seeing how far Elona is from the part of Tyria we know and also how big continental Tyria is.
I do find it odd the Dragons, so fateful as they seem to be to the balance of the World, are so confined to such a small area of the World. Looking at the map in that picture conjures up such possibilties of imagination, it’s just a shame we’ll probably never explore most of them.

I do sympathise as I felt exatcly the same at first. However, we have no more than 5 people left in our guild and only 2-3 who play enough to contribute. After 2 weeks, we are level 12 and not really having any major issues so far. I have since had to eat my original words of contempt against the system.

It is entirely doable, but it can feel quite the hurdle at first for a small guild.

Gem store dye packs

But it will mean more ppl will buy them since they know they will get the dye they want. Currently many like me who want them, just don’t bother due to the silly rng. The dye kits do not have a long term shelf life anyway due to being in the store for limited period. It doesn’t matter if ppl complete their sets if more people are buying more kits.

Improving the chances of getting an exclusive dye will only improve direct sales.

Did you read my previous post? Please do, as it addresses this already.

People will pay to gamble in-game. Removing the gambling part of it will reduce their revenue. Have a think about it.

They will pay, but only ever to a very limited extent. At their peak I used to sell merchandise which included pokemon cards. I made considerably more money from individual cards than i ever did from the packs. Whilst not an exact comparison, it bears similarities in the trading pattern.
I myself have both gambled and bought individual, on many items incl dyes and would spend far more money on a guarantee than a gamble.

Whilst I do not have anets metrics, i can comment from trading patterns i have observed in 20 years of sales and retail.

Six Gods and Six Dragons, coincidence?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Randulf.7614

Randulf.7614

I personally don’t hold much stock in the Dragons -> Races thing. The races all just live in different regions of Tyria so naturally there would be a Race living near where a Dragon is.

But I am totally fixated on the Dragons -> Gods thing. Two headed Bubbles and twin Dwayna are just too coincidental to ignore to me, among other things.

Also which concept art are you referring to? Most of the older concept art refer to models which are inaccurate. Eg mordremoth and zhaitan look very different to the concept drawings. The latest (presumed) concept of what could be bubbles has 3 heads. I believe there is also one headed concept art.

Six Gods and Six Dragons, coincidence?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Remember, the dragons existed prior to some of those races (eg humans). So you’d need to match them to the races around during previous rises to make that connection work as well. I cannot remember if 6 races existed previously that were involved directly in the battle – Im sure someone else can recall that info though.

Six Gods and Six Dragons, coincidence?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Randulf.7614

Lyssa was actually one of my lynchpins for the theory. She is dipicted as a twin goddess. The Deep Sea Dragon’s concept art shows it’s a two headed dragon.

There are so many similarities its really hard to not say that there must be some kind of connection even if they aren’t the same beings. Perhaps reverses of one another?

The book Dragon’s and Gods simply says that “There is not enough proof”, rather than debunking it entirely.

As has been pointed out over the years, there are at least as many dissmilarities as similarities. At least half of the Gods do not match up. Kormir doesn’t match Kralk. Dwayna does not match Jormag for example.

The Dragons have existed on Tyria tens of thousands of years before the Gods arrived on Tyria and have been active at least twice before now and one of those was long before the Gods.

There are plenty of scriptures on the Gods. Who did know about the Dragons, so why isn’t there more scripture on the links as laid down by their disciples if a link existed?

The devs added that line as a joke. The fact they outright don’t dimiss it is part of the joke. It’s a fun speculation I admit, but one which doesn’t hold any water beyond there being 6 of them each.

Well, since it has taken 2 years for one of the more popular aspects of GW2 (sab) to come back round and be fixed and put into the game, I can say with confidence you have no chance whatsoever of getting a successful petition to restore a team to a whole game in GW1. It is in maintenance mode and have they have done everything they want to do with the game. It sits there as good as it ever was and will do for many years to come.

GW2 is their focus and consumes all their time and probably more.

GW1 Factions: how to do an expansion right.

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Randulf.7614

Randulf.7614

I understand what you are saying and your comparison is reasonably fair in the context you are aiming for, however I personally speaking, would dearly hope Factions would never be an example to their team on how to deliver an expac for GW2. For me, it was one of the worst campaigns I have ever played. The overarching story and lore was fine, but the writing, the dialogue, the cutscenes were so abominable, I can see why it released so soon after Prophecies. It was a bit of a mess compared to what was to come later.

The map itself was divisive. Shing Jea Island was a superb starter area and then you hit Kaineng City, which was essentially one giant indistinct zone, whose supreme ugliness began to wear me down after a while, especially since there was so little significant content in it. I know it had quests and it wasn’t a true MMo, but I rarely felt engaged.

Jade Sea and Echovald were gorgeous to look at, but of all the campigns, I found this area to be the least memorable and impactful. I can’t even recall much of what happens around this section of the campaign up until the charge into the Palace. EVen Prophecies, as dire as the narrative was, hangs firmly in my memory for all of it.

The mission structure was weaker than either Prophecies and Nightfall as well and the bonus/challenges were more involving for those campaigns as well, rather than Factions which just went down the route of just using timers.

It wasn’t all bad of course. 2 excellent classes as you say and the over arching lore has been impactful to the franchise in a positive way..

If I was to look at where they got things right with expanding their game, Nightfall is the first place they really started to nail it. Heroes, solid storytelling, an outstanding starter area, some excellent challenging areas, better ai (which EOTN expanded upon), gearing those heroes with some fun missions and a central city you didn’t get lost in…
Again, you couldn’t compare Elona’s map content to GW2 due to so little being in it, but NF got more right than it got wrong. I don’t agree Factions did the same.

And yes EOTN, whilst extortionately grindy for some of those titles and tracks, took the previous improvements and raised the bar to a whole new level.

I loved GW1, but I love GW2 even more. It’s flawed, of course. Admittedly. storytelling and lore have gone backwards as are well documented and they still seem to be “experimenting” or finding their feet with the game 3 years in. But, HoT was a decent expac. Not a great expac, but a solid first effort by the team. Big lessons to be learned and I’d be interested to see if they have picked up and identified those for the next time.

Toypocalypse as I have been reminded was changed due to a problem with pvp and activity groups. I forget the details, but it logistically wasn’t feasible to let pre-made groups into Toypocalypse. Is it it strange though that Guild Wars 1 had the exact same holiday decorations and the exact same holiday quests every year, and people just did them and didn’t complain.

And still happily do. Same as in at least 4 mmos who hold christmas festivals. To be honest, I am amazed many expected any sort of change after an expac. Festivals by nature tend to be recycled. New content for new players, familiar favs for vets. Fairly standard stuff.

just bought the expac 2 weeks ago, im paid every 2 weeks. I had no time unlike others who get to play more then myself

Well, it was on the gemstore for about 6 weeks. No doubt it will return later. They do bring things back.

All i would like to see is it return with a 24 hour left timer like it should have had, all other items when removed have that.

That is not true. A very large number of items over the last year do not get a timer and have “ending soon” as the final day reminder. I agree a timer is better, toally support that feedback, but it is not true at all most items have 24 hours written on them when they are being removed. In fact it happens less and less now.

As im sure is obvious but i am newer to this game, all items i personally have seen that were special have had a timer on them when ending. i just found it all rather sudden that it was just featured normally then within 12 ish hours went to ending soon then gone, things in the mmo world are usually given more time then this to give people their best chance at getting it last minute

I agree it is annoying, but it is something I have watched them use a lot recently. I have no idea why sometimes they put a timer and sometimes they don’t, but it def isn’t all items.

WHy they cannot be transparent in the communication of such deadlines is something I will never understand, but I’m afraid it is what it is – it has been fed back so much, it is clear the situation is to remain in place.
Some people have got lucky with Support in the past though and managed to obtain an item suddenly removed, you can re-try that method, otherwise your only hope is if the item will return.
