Weapon in my hand,
My hand, the arching deathblow at the End of All Things.
The horror. The horror.
I embrace it.”

Not a massive lover of the name…but that goes out the window after reading;

This devastating melee brawler is at home in battle when surrounded by as many enemies as possible, cleaving through hapless foes for life-force sustainment. Once the reaper has enough life force, they can transform into a devastating avatar of destruction that leaves enemies frozen in terror.

Very nice Doctor there. Was just thinking about whether it was possible only this morning!

4 and 5 are kind of possible, but 4 hasn’t got a decent hair style to match with the scarf skin, and we don’t have any hair that’s thinning, for 5 . :P
I think someone did the 8th Doctor, but I haven’t seen him for a while. I did 12 and 9, but that was ages before I found out that 12’s jacket was going to be a light black , not dark blue. :/

Very impressive. I can see a few Chronomancers made in tribute when HoT arrives

About Howler legendary

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Randulf.7614

You have to remember that there are two edges on the sword. Some want every legendary to be flashy and shiny beacon that screams “LOOK AT ME I MADE A THING!” and others like me prefer the more subtle effects like the Howler currently has.

Changing it now would only lead to disgruntled customers who like it because its not flashy.

Yeah, they did this with Moot and actually managed to degrade it with all the ribbons and effects added

Yes jormag does need some work, but this skill was not working as intended and still had to be changed regardless of other fixes.Skills arent meant to be doing this and so it was inevitable it would be changed. There was no reason to use stability and fear breakers due to this behaviour.

An idea how to make dungeons more attractive

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Randulf.7614

Randulf.7614

You can add as many rewards as you like, but that isn’t the fundamental issue why so many pvers avoid dungeons.

It’s the culture and the exclusivity of the community that comes with it. And that is inherent with most MMO dungeons.

Whilst kicking and speed running and criticising people for having “the wrong build” are as prevalent as they are, dungeons will never be popular enough. It is an ongoing circle – players often discourage lesser skilled players from dungeon groups and thus the number of dungeon players becomes increasingly less overtime, leading to a vicious circle where dungeon development gets abandoned.

Dungeon specific items and more imaginative dungeons are fine ideas. They just aren’t enough to counter the wider issue.

I can't believe Tequatl can fly

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Randulf.7614

Randulf.7614

The physics behind undead dragons or why Tequatl can fly

Living consist mostly of water and water is the main reason of weight of Living. On dead living dry out and dead creatures are also infected by bacteria that produce Methane. Methane is slightly lighter than normal air.

So Tequal is a kind of Methane-ballone where his cells are now filled with Methane instead of Water, making him in total only slightly heavier than air, a weight his wings can easily cary in air.

Methane is also burnable (-> dragon-fire), the smell of Tequatl breath that let us all run away when he cries does NOT come from Methane (it’s odorless) but from Hydrogen sulfide also produced as Tequal is rotting since ages.

Summary: If we would have undead dragons on earth they could fly on earth without any magic

Not a bad theory at all, especially the fact you go into chemistry. But I think the quantity of methane would not be enough. Look at how much helium it takes to pull anything heavy off the ground, manned helium balloons are gigantic, and helium is significantly lighter than oxygen.

But, now I have a question for the people who have been saying “it’s magic”. If it’s magic, then why does he need wings at all? The wings are completely obsolete, they are not helping at all.

The main reason for this is simply the immersion breaking “because the players expect this look from a dragon”. Some things are done for design and artistic portrayal over realism or accuracy. Its a trick used in all forms of media. Its also why so much fantasy falls flat when writers mix clear fallacies with trying go be accurate.

If you want to assign a reason, you could say the wings power some sort of magic updraft, but it doesn’t hold much water either.

As people say, its fun to speculate on trying to give logic, but logic isn’t part of the design and the answer boils down to “magic”. At least it is better than trying to legitimise non magical dragon flight…..i doubt a lizard of such size could be so agile let alone fly…

Randulf.7614

Randulf — this is the supplied information and I will add emphasis for the points that it makes:

Yes! We’ll be expanding the size of the pool of beta testers for future tests. We selected a small number of testers for the first round from our newsletter subscribers. Our next test will use this method as well as the “Portal to the Heart of Maguuma,” an in-game item which has a chance to drop from enemies in Dry Top and the Silverwastes. Players who find this item are guaranteed a spot in the next closed beta test! Signing up for the newsletter is not required to access the beta test if you’ve received one of these items. However, to get beta schedules, instructions on how to access the test, or any other beta-related information, you will still need to sign up for the newsletter. Make sure you sign up using the same e-mail address that you use for your game account.

I don’t see any cause for confusion or any need for change. Can you explain what’s unclear about any of that? It’s a little late to change a published article, but we’d like to know what points might be confusing for future reference.

The line about " our next test will use this method as well as the portal to the heart of the maguuma" can infer requiring both since you use “as well as” instead of “or”

It would have read better as "Our next test *will use this method as a chance to enter the beta, or by obtaining the “Portal to the Heart of Maguuma,”

It isnt meant to be pedantic, although i prob sound it, but these forums are getting worse by the day with clutter and people becoming confused about announcements. Its fab you guys use the front page so much now, the announcements just need to be free of ambiguity.

I took a bit of a break for a while, had internet issues but finally got something else and that works well. I think in the past year, the only real changes were lfg tool improvements, addition of dry top and silverwastes maps, and EOTM… which is … well just mentioning the obvious notable changes. Oh, and changes to the living story thingy…
But I guess for the most part, new content came and went, so we returned to basically the same thing. An actual expansion is coming though, which imo so needed it long ago instead of this temp content.

Just to add, the temporary content was stopped at the beginning of 2014 in response to feedback. The non festival content since is all permanent to enjoy, including all of season 2 living story. Nothing was removed.

Back too after a break, although a lot shorter than yours. Where is everybody? Go to Cursed Shore daily, only to find the maps fairly empty & same with Silverwastes, as I had assumed there would be a multitude of players there looking for portal keys.

I notice that SW is packed atm. You are prob unlucky enough to be getting into low population shards because so many have filled up by people using lfg to hop into the busier shards. There is definitely no shortage of people in SW.

Orr, well I find people in all zones thanks to the megaserver, but people will do Orr less since there is little reason or incentive to keep doing those zones now that everyone is in dry top and SW

Why bother doing Dynamic Events?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Randulf.7614

Randulf.7614

Me personally;

1- I enjoy them. Simple as that, I find many fun. Sure they aren’t rewarding (looks to change in HoT), but there are some very good ones I have thoroughly enjoyed the gameplay and story of. eg the long chain to rescue the captured charr in Fireheart

2 – They are a good source of xp when levelling and make map exploration less tedious and choreful by breaking it up.

I’d like to see more and more specifically more longer, branching chains, but the game is moving away from that now.

Anet, if there's demand, why look away?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Randulf.7614

Randulf.7614

The analogy is flawed. By developing something that is by equal measure not wanted, resources are wasted on something that is for the benefit of the game. Duelling I can ignore, mounts I can ignore, but the development of both will block features more important to the game. Mounts will also increase server load and lag and thus effect myself and others.

Lemon skittles would not have this effect

Although now I want Skittles….

Anet, if there's demand, why look away?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Randulf.7614

Randulf.7614

Duelling and mounts are just as equally not wanted. It isn’t as simple an issue as players wanting it and it should be in. There are very big arguments against those features which have been had over and over again on these forums.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

I wonder have you ever played another MMO, where you grinded raids for 1 year
to finally get the perfect armor, and then a new expansion is released where the
blue gear from quests after 2 levels is suddenly as good as your gear ?

Do you think they will refund you ? Heck you have even payed for it that they made
all your progress worth nothing.

Oh and mostly in the new zones there you suddenly earn 5-10 times more money
than before, so that suddenly all the money you grinded for the last 2 years is now
something you can get in some weeks.

Other MMOs don’t charge you for character slots.

All the ones I’ve played do?

This explains why I got 2. I got 2 Heroic Chests and a Letter of Influence(4,000) because I originally owned the Collectors edition, then when the Heroic edition was on sale in the gem store, I got that as well just to get it out of there. I was tired of seeing it all the time as an upgrade when I owned the CE. I really hope this “bug” does not mess with the fact that I owned the CE just in case some day they make some special thing for it. It is a nice bug I guess, too bad I already have all of the armors unlocked.

Doesnt explain why I got 2 tho since i didnt buy heroic edition.

Its great they have finally communicated to us, although it is a shame an earlier update wasnt forthcoming to pre empt. Hopefully everyone will get a chst though, since it is unfair otherwise and i would be worried if Anet werent able to see that (although again, that should have been thought of earlier as well with a bit of forward thinking imo)
