You are right, they did say that and that was specifically why they added so many during season 1.
They either changed their mind, or realised they aren’t as well integrated and found them less seamless to activate. Either way, it would be nice for an official communication saying why there are no festivals.
Revenants are missing the most obvious legend of all.
Think about who’s going to be the first: Rytlock Brimstone. The charr warrior. Now, think back to charr heroes of legend, and one REALLY stands out. Especially with Rytlock being in the position of trying to gather forces, get them to work together, and stand against a huge threat to them all.
That’s right. The Kahn-Ur. The legendary leader of the charr that shaped who they are today, much like Ventari did for the sylvari. And yet, there’s no sign of this legend anywhere! Why? This would be one of the FIRST Rytlock would channel, I would think.
Can anyone come up with a good reason why he’s not one of the legends a Rev can channel?
Because he wasn’t actually in the games. He was historical even for GW1, so he wouldn’t be a suitable choice for starting legends
ALso, I haven’t noticed any tremors across Tyria. Is this something others have experienced?
I’ve missed the detail on this. What is changing on ice bow?
I have a better idea. Make all dungeon armors upgradable to ascended level through mystic forge or crafting with new visual effects on them.
That’s an interesting idea. Could encourage more dungeon runs too
Voxel .. I don´t even.
..
That´s the problem with all these hype shows.
People without the foggiest clue about coding think stuff like this can be simply added in a “patch”.
Just like Dx6000, no we won´t get VOXELS.
In any way, shape or form. This isnt a patch, its an expansion pack.
Rift added the same feature in their first expansion pack as well. if they can do it, I dont see how Anet cant as well.
Completely different engine and compatibility challenges
The cost, resources, time involved, beta testing, reward sign offs, writing time involve multiple teams who are prob pretty knackered atm. We are talking likely a few months for any dungeon revamp for something unlikely to generate much interest to a wider community.
I cant think of anything they would have time to produce before HoT, but ill play ball and throw out a suggestion or two anyway.
Southson. Revamped with new events focussed round a meta like recent zones
Lost coins in more zones
Revamp Shatterer and a couple of other bosses.
None of which could be achieved by HoT, but they would have wider appeal and be a welcome time sink perhaps
I’ll be happy enough with pre-made. Some customisability is fine, but largely pre-made is my pref
Of course, the nature of Monkey is irrepressible..
Everybody knows that! But what has he got to do with GW2?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-zOFAD6e9Bk
The tonic and mini was added as a homage shortly after China launched. That was their only function
He has nothing o do with GW2 or its lore.
Also, you’d be surprised how many people are unaware of Monkey Magic/Journey to the West. In the half dozen threads popping up about the mini and tonic, many of the posters knew nothing of either. It was quite a nice extra by the devs, despite falling outside of the lore.

Hm. Does diagonal 3d movement require that much work? I really thought it wouldn’t have that much of an effect on the map besides falling slowly..
Oh god yes. Yes it does.
The problem is the map is a shell. If you get at it from angles you shouldn’t, you’ll see thin edges. Or things like that building way up there on a hill? Deploy glider, approach —- and look, it’s just some random scattered columns and a 2D triangle, not a fully rendered building at all. MMO map designers use trompe l’oeil tricks, hollywood facades, and line-of-sight limits to reduce what has to actually be added.
So yeah, they’d have to re-render the whole map with a lot of new terrain that isn’t actually there right now.
Here, let me show you guys something. Here is what many of the game’s maps and areas might REALLY look like if you manage to get outside of where you’re supposed to be. Boxes just straight-up painted onto the wall with lots of extra empty space. This peek behind the curtain brought you by: Some stupid glitch that made me fall through the floor in Arcana Obscura.
Thats the Warehouse that stores the Ark of the Covenant.

Top men….
But then how would we double-click the scrap to open up the Weapon Skin merchant? These specific “currencies” act much differently than the other types.
I didn’t even realise this was a thing. I’ve just been running up to the BL weapon merchant in LA (next to the TP merchant in Postern/Farshore Ward) and using him.
So, to answer your question, quite simply that functionality could be removed.
EDIT: @Donari, just did a quick check myself and yes, double clicking actually works.
I didn’t know this either. I always port to a merchant as well.
It’s strongest near 2 construction sites near the carnival
In theory you should be better off, since the break even point is 700 condi damage and Im assuming you are well over this
I’ll go have a listen and see if I can notice it
Isn’t that the orchestra thing playing? You are near it’s location on that screenie I think
I agree with the synergy of SW. I found Dry Top messy in comparison.
Frostgorge is perhaps my favourite Vanilla zone for variety and visuals combined.
Southson is the most underrated and unfulfilled in terms of potential. I would like to see it get the same treatment as a core zone or SW to bring it back into the fold.
Nobody likes underwater combat. I’d be perfectly fine if I never had to fight underwater again. I despise the PS missions that force you to spend 90% of the mission underwater.
I like it and so do all the people in the countless threads defending it over the past couple of years.
It is however in a neglected state. Ignoring it is not the answer. They prob have metrics showing peoples behaviour towards underwater combat and skin purchases which drive these decisions. Data at face value is misleading though, it just needs improving for both casual and competitive play. Since underwater doesnt feature much in a jungle, it will be a while before this ever gets addressed.
It is not a very large request.
They’ve got two choices:
1) Give a date, which will be an ‘initial’ date, then something won’t quite be ready, and it’ll have to be put back a little. Then something else will have been unforeseen, and will have to be put back. All while this is happening, people will be complaining about it being ‘delayed’
2) They don’t give a date until it’s ready. No broken promises, at the request we loyal and humble players be patient.
I prefer the latter.
You can have your humble pie if you want. I hear it tastes really bad.
Me personally I would never complain about it being delayed because I am well informed. I know it is a WIP, and the date is just there to give us an idea. It is not set in stone.
I know Hell fire and brimstone is not going to rip open the earth because someone said fall 2015 and it is now December 2015. The start of winter.
If you know this and accept this, why is a date so important?
Also, a thread demanding a date wont get one any quicker. They work to an internal timetable and calendar, so a date will be forthcoming when they feel its time to announce it.
Id write soon with a tm symbol, yet my ipad lacks the function!!
Yes, it doesnt affect me and i let them get on with it when i pass by. The only issue is when it turns toxic, but thats a reportable issue anyway.
I see no reason to nerf it if it keeps people entertained
IOU = I owe you
Means looters grabbed loot, either genuinely or ironically saying they will pay the bank back
The official response was in your favour. They want people to enjoy music, no matter how it is produced.
Absolutely nothing wrong in the slightest bit in what you did. Ignore the people who pm you in a hostile way or block and report them.
So the reason is because as far as the game is concerned your signets aren’t equipped while you are in DS. Its an issue of coding, probably left over from when DS was a downed state. Not exactly a “good” reason, more a holdover of bad coding decisions earlier in game design that needs to be fixed but hasn’t been.
I think we’re finally getting through to the Devs actually. I’m starting to get a bit hopeful though i don’t see them directly addressing many of our other issues for at least half a year after the release of HoT. The reason I say half a year because this is when I expect them to release new Elite specializations. This is just my personal hypothesis. What might happen is the passives might trigger when we enter death shroud and eventually fade if we are in DS too long. This is what I see as the most likely as a quick fix but I don’t see this as a solution to our utility problem in DS.
That is extremely optimistic for new elites. Given the reveal times and that a large portion will still be playing around with the HoT stuff and that balancing will likely be still ongoing, i wouldnt expect any new elites for maybe 18 months at least. Or with a new expac.
Although I have never been affected by this at any point since the boss fight was released, I assume this thread relates to your situation?

I highly recommend adding to it and submitting a bug report in game
Whilst not all your ideas are feasible, there is some interesting ideas floating in there, that would compliment the game
You may need to elaborate a little on this, so we can understand what the issue is.
It could be because it would look out of place on an armour set and that would be right. Straps would clash horrificly, especially on my toon who has one.
Clipping is likely the main reason as you say though. Too many variations to take into account.
To be fair, the OP made a pretty sweeping, completely inaccurate statement. Detail is required if a discussion was required.
The point of laurels is to reward logging in regularly. Purchasing laurels with currency (none of which I’m hearing workable or viable options for yet), defeats that very objective.
What exact currency would use for purchasing?
What would replace laurels for logging in since that will become redundant.
Also, why do you want to buy laurels? It can’t be for t6 mats, since those are purchasable. Is it for the minis/LS1 rewards? Having additional ways to purchase laurels for these makes little sense. If anything having alternative acquistion methods would be preferable. To be honest, I think the system works pretty well now. Short – medium term goals for inessential items, which you have to decide what you want rather than buy it all at once. Seems to be working exactly as it should
I am fully aware they are daily log in rewards.
Well, I just decked out my 3rd character in full ascended gear and thought to myself that it would be nice to have a feature for veteran players (I know I didn’t specify the veteran part in my op, but I will change it). Particularly when I would like to have a bunch of different builds to play and other alts I’d like to make. I’m tossing hundreds of dollars to buy gems and covert to gold so I can buy all the mats and stuff, and just thinking it would be great to have an additional laurel option.
I didn’t sit here and think about the costs why and hows, just thinking it would be a great feature to add in for us vets.
The monthly allotment of laurels would not be invalidated while having an extra “purchased in some way” method of obtaining them for vets.
You need laurels to purchase ascended trinkets and stuff, ascended recipes, infusions…
As a vet I am not in total agreement. I’m also not seeing a convincing argument for why buying laurels is a good idea Vs the problems it will cause.
However if ascended is the issue, then I agree partly on what you are saying. This isn’t the answer though. A better solution directly would be to simply lower the costs. for recipes and infusions etc.
Or improve ascended drops from group content like Teq, Wurm, Fractals or whatever HoT brings. And rather than have a random stat box drop, have it so you can choose what ascended pops up out of that box stat wise.

Yep today, mobs dropped loot for me. And yesterday.
Good times indeed
You are making me yearn for SAB….
Eeep, Cynz, how could I have forgotten to include Glint’s Lair for the sheer wowness of first viewing?
Here’s one we haven’t seen since 2012: The mini-dungeon where we fought the Mad King under a ghastly moon.
Really like this one
They may not do a reveal, since they aren’t all launching at release and they may leave it as something players can discover for themselves when it is live.
If they do reveal, I suspect it will be either during a later lull in reveals or one of the last things to be mentioned

I used to be the same as the OP. Baffled as to how something so cumbersome existed after years of playing proper platformers. Then at some point, I clicked with them and accepted with them – possibly when the Zephyrites first came since I thoroughly enjoyed that. There are some I’ll never do though since they are beyond my skill level.
It’s been interesting to see other games like Lotro and TSW experiment with adding them and fail spectacularly. At least GW2 was built with JP’s in mind rather than shoe-horned in like in other MMO’s
I just pay random people some gold to admire me in map chat.
Shout if you get any vacancies. I can crank sycophancy up to 11 when required
He’d be too hard to kill. He has about 400 million weapons to call upon, plus we all know how hard Djinn bosses were in GW1…especially if they were fire attuned.
Ok everyone..ZERG!
Zomorros casts Searing Flames.
Ok everyone, that was a fail, see you in 2 hours.

“Distance is defined in terms of units, which are essentially equivalent to inches”
As time has gone on, the wow factor has lessened. I got the Moot 6 months after launch and a small number commented. No one comments now because there is such an array of beautiful weapons on offer from many diff places.
This isn’t the type of game will will gush over items you have. I do see compliments about the combinations of social people devise though, since the breadth of variety is enormous in this game.
The morale of the story is to get something that makes you think “wow”, not for what others think
I’d consider buying action figures or figurines. Only if they weren’t limited edition in the same way those statues were.
- Artwork, either in framed or artbook form
- A lore book.
- Kindle/ipad covers. They’d prob be outsourced and made to order though, with a range of designs from brand to concept artwork. Could work out expensive, but would look stylish.
A replica of the GW2 toaster Josh Foreman used to destroy Ascalon
sometimes we should just step back and marvel at how kitten awesome it really is.
Pretty much my approach with alts I’m levelling in prep for HoT. My previous 2 alts I enjoyed but I didn’t really engage the world with, but I’m exploring the little things now and finishing things I never knew existed before And I’ve been here constantly since headstart!
As far as i was aware, this exists already out of combat on targeted mobs or npcs. Fairly certain my chars all do this
What I find most surprising was that this many people used and cared about axe in the first place lol.
Im not sure why. Playstyles, looks etc are an integral part of why ppl play gw2. A considerably large portion of the population wont follow metas and viable builds. The old axe was fun to use for me. Cant say the same for dagger despite its advantages.
You’re right Randulf… It would be silly of me to think they’d rework existing, functional content solely on the basis of turning it more interesting.
I’m wondering though, would it change their mind if it would attract new players a lot more easily?
Well yes, but i cant see heart revamps attracting more players than new content. Or adding in LW1 back in. Or a better NPE (or the original one). A revamp would benefit people with alts more than new players.
I remember they added combos to dailies once, but it was a complete disaster. Partly because it was hard to actaully get the daily to recognise the effect, but also because people were struggling to understand how they worked. Map chat desecnded into chaos as people derided others for lack of knowledge.
There has been virtually no attempt to coach players on combos or finishers or anything like that ever since.
They wont be re-worked, because they aren’t part of the game’s future. ie they aren’t making more hearts in the new zones. Partly because they weren’t overly popular, but also the static nature of them isn’t in line with the “dynamic” or “living” aspect to the world they are evolving.
Now, it can be argued that fixes like yours could change that. Quite possibly it could, but investing resources into revamping “vanilla” content is highly unlikely, especially considering the time and workload the devs generally have at any one time.
It’s probably going to be chalked up to one of those cool things that would be nice to be changed, but never will. If I’m proved wrong, I wont be unhappy tho.
What are you guys doing while waiting on Hot?
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Mostly levelling alts and exploring again. Occasionally a bit of GW1 hard mode for 40/50.
And Splatoon.
But mostly GW2. Plenty in game to chip away at, whether it is achievements or trying new professions or finishing a legendary. I’m actually tempted to try some spvp since people seem to think its less hostile than the dungeon community to less skilled players
