You aren’t buying the core again. You are buying the expac. The core comes free for new players, but you aren’t paying for it.

You are buying the core game and then getting the exp and with that price just for the standart package is just to freaking high for poeple that allready own the kitten game

The dev post in this thread is very clear. No matter what you feel about the price point, or the value, the expac is £35/$50. The core game is free, the price has not been risen to cover it.

Whether the value you are receiving or whether you think the price itself is too high is an entirely different matter and is still openly being discussed.

DE 1.0 - who else died?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

I think they all survived. Apart from a concept image of Braham with a similar bow, that’s all there is pointing to Eir being dead. Concept art rarely reflects any accuracy in the detail.

It also wouldn’t make sense for him to have that much rage since there is very little connection between the two. A slight de-frosting during S2, but no real emotional re-connection.

Dr Who coming to LA ?

Actually, it occurs to me the “timeline” is currently frozen since we are between the end of the events of S2 and the start of HoT. Yet an entire city was built between these few moments.

Only a Time Lord could be behind this….

The timeline is real time. The tyrian, or Mouvelian calendar was changed to match the real one perfectly for this reason. Before it was 5 days shorter.

https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Mouvelian_calendar

It was also stated HoT would take place immediately after S2 without pause. So technically speaking we are in a frozen point from that perspective. That discrepancy I notice is noted in the wiki article you linked.

The personal story in Heart of Thorns will continue right after those events, yes. However personal stories are more of flashbacks.
You can make a new character right now and play the core game personal story with it, but it doesn’t occur right now, it occured a few years ago, timeline wise.

This is why the Doctor is coming. To straighten all this out!

And SAB, yes I like that idea too!

Black Lion Ticket Drop Rates

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Randulf.7614

Randulf.7614

I opened 5 yesterday and got 2 scraps from 1 chest, 1 from another…and I cant remember if I get or fourth or not. Haven’t had a ticket drop for a while though. Not that I buy many keys mind you for any accurate measurement.

Considering you need 5 tickets for most weapons and there’s an achievement for getting all in a set, the drop rate vs weapon cost per ticket seems incredibly disproprotionate. One would wonder if they’d make more money if they either increased the drop rate to 1 guaranteed scrap per chest or reduced older skins to 2 or 3 at most.

They dont have a test server. I imagine they thought it would happen, but believed it would easier given their resources to implement and adjust.

The problem with knowing Teq will get squashed is how do you adjust it beforehand without data and testing to show where to make the adjustments. I doubt they have enough numbers in house to make a raid

Then again, it asks the question how did they get teq, wurm, vine, marionette so right if they dont have testing.

Its a mystery!

If these players you pigeonhole are that loyal, why wouldn’t they be pre-purchasing? A truly “loyal” player (a strange concept in a no sub model where they’ve given out as much as we’ve given back) would surely pre-purchase between now and launch and get the slot?

Also, isn’t this discussion already taking place in enough threads? They only get merged eventually, so why not post there where the devs want them to be for easy access?

One NPC alone simply does not make this a gambling game. There is other gambling in this game and has been since inception and on a far larger scale than a completely innocuous NPC. Examples have been given many times now. The mystic forge people “trust” to give good results and they often lose thousands of gold. It is no different at all in any shape, myth or form than this NPC. Except this NPC is of less worth and has less impact on the game than the forge.

But it is quite clear that the result is unpredictable. The tooltips on the items say you get random back. If it was a way to make money outright, everyone would be rich now.

There are only so many pop ups and warnings and tooltips Anet can add. Someone will always not read them or overlook them. It’s down to the responsibilty of the user to think “should I spend or gamble 100g, not knowing what I will get back”

you are right but it is the first time after 3 years we see something like that, my mistake was trust on anet, i never think they will put a gambling NPC, is like slot machines, click and lose

But it isn’t. This is just another NPC in a line of NPCs and other tricks that have done this. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. I actually won on this NPC, but I didn’t invest much, knowing I’d probably get shafted.

They exist for those who like a flutter. Next one you encounter (and there will be more I’m certain), just walk on by.

Gambling is riddled throughout this game;

- the skritt, which was implied in the NPC dialogue
- the new year festival
- black lion chests
- mystic forge

Much of the game’s rewards are based on risk and gambling. This is just another, albeit smaller, addition

If you lost 1000 globs and 100g, that means very quickly you knew what was going to happen and you continued to roll with it. The NPC does tell you and it is extremely easy to see what is going on with the NPC.

You weren’t cheated or betrayed, you played an obvious gambling game and it simply didn’t pay off for you. Whereas it did pay off for others. Sometimes in life, you discover these things for yourself and luckily this was harmless since all that was lost was pixels.

It wouldn’t have helped since the system made a judgement call on what it thought you were using based on the fact that traits have moved lines and changed functions now. No one knew how it would precisely turn out. As it happens, under lvl 80’s have got a bit of a raw deal. But you can read more in the official response

It isn’t messed up to the point of needing a fix.. It’s just the way it has been coded. There is a thread on why it is doing it and why they choose that method, believing it to be the best of 2 scenarios

When you logged in, a pop up message summarised this. You couldn’t have gamed the system by logging out with a specific traitline system since we didn’t know how it would pan out.

It is, what it is I’m afraid.
