Why is it a must? I’m not trying to be argumentative, but no one actually states “why” it must be in the game. Beyond aesthetics (and yes they do look cool), I’m not seeing what it brings to the game.
Nice to see some screenies of Anet personal characters. I find GW2 has one of, if not the most varied communities for social gear in an mmo. Its always nice to see how the creators and developers present their toons. Ive seen some very nice combinations.
Now for 40 points for Flameseeker, the absolute best title.
Chipping away at it a little bit every day!
34/40….ah the grindy grindness of the grind!
At least they are having their usual celebration there. I do wish though, they had a celebration this year in this game for the 10 year anniversary.
Might still happen!
Im hoping for a big party crowd in LA or Kamadan. Be nice to get the community together one last time.
Perhaps a simultaneous party in LA 250 years later in GW2 as well!
There are some amazing hero builds to assist with vanquishing. Ive been using some modified ones and in a week have nearly cleared Nightfall with little effort. I’ll try and find the link and post it here later.
Whilst doing that, you will gain hundreds of platinum. Also make sure you do Zaishen quests. To get the pvp title is a tad long winded using zaishen coins, but the platinum will help. Vanquishing will also max out your sunspear title pretty quick
Make sure you pay attention to the bonus week. Last week was double lightbringer points – amazingly quick to cap when vanquishing. This week is Zaishen bounties double coins.
I would love that link, if you ever come back here! I started GW1 recently, and I’m not sure where to find current info. Been searching the internet for builds and stuff, but I have no idea how to know if it’s outdated. Also any links to ranger builds (PvE) would be awesome! As well as leveling in Nightfall- I’m level 8 and everything seems to be level 10+, which I keep failing at.
Many use this:
http://gwpvx.gamepedia.com/Build:Team_-_7_Hero_Player_Support
Yep that is the one I meant. I dont’t follow it exactly, I have some amendments, but overall that is an excellent build template to work from. It’s not for novice players though, simply because you need skills captured from all over the game to kit out the heroes, plus you need the heroes unlocked as well.
I don’t think its scary. Definitely not a word I’d associate. In fact I’m not overly concerned with the info coming out from Anet. I’d say they were just enormously busy right now.
I think people’s expectations are rather high for info, just because we got a big dump of info to start with. I never expected to see as much as we have already to be honest. Many MMO’s I’m watching intently are drip feeding info on big content releases this year at a much more alarmingly slow rate.
Is the game stagnating? No again, I don’t agree with that. I can understand the perception though, especially considering the schedule over the years.
Having said that, I can’t quite wrap my head round why SAB is off the table for return until further notice. Or why say Gauntlet isn’t around. Or a re-churned out festival. Or why they wont even communicate why these are off the table. But that is the limit of my concern and it is hardly a big one.

Ah fair play. They did infer from another post Meeting the Asura was a problem, but if they’re actually on track with t a fix for that one, then fab
They are struggling to replicate the bug hence the delay https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Challenge-Motes-are-bugged-merged/page/13#post4980868
They have already acknowledged the problem and acknowledged they are working on it.
Far be it for me to prevent a community spirited event, however it wont make any difference, since they are attempting to fix it. The time issue is coming from the fact they can’t replicate this and have spent 40 hours trying to replicate it with no success
They understand people think they are being ignored, but it is proving a very hard fix for them
Seeing high levels of people in most zones I go to. If anything I’m seeing more and more people around in some places.
I’m avoiding PvP titles as they take a long amount of time to do. Again, I’m completely broke and have little to no progress on PvP titles. I’ve read doing Frostway DoA runs is the quickest way to get money and that I should buy armor/weaps/minis to fill it out, but I’m broke and there doesn’t seem like there’s a huge existing player base in GW1 to assist with farming/trading =(
Ive made 50 platinum from 3 days vanquishing and that’s before selling any rare runes or crafting mats. It really mounts up
I’m not familiar with vanquishing. What is it?
Vanquishing involves clearing whole zones in hard mode. With the right hero set up, it almost does itself, however it is a very good platinum gainer whilst also working towards other titles.
Likewise you have Guardian, which is the clearing of missions on a campaign in hard mode

I just got a drop. Perhaps I found a bug…
As has been said there is no pay to win in the game at all.
If you send a ticket to support, they will be able to assist with this. Think they have seen this issue before.
Whilst you wait for a reply, also worth browsing the technical and accounts subforum. I believe similar issues are reported there with some answers
You can’t directly discuss this with Anet, but you can log feedback in the appropriate profession forum.
Nothing has been announced at all. I believe the beta toons can be used for any beta test though – such as this weeks Stronghold test that just went by. I didn’t try that, but itlooked possible from the login screen that day.
Any future and upcoming beta tests will be on the GW2 homepage, so just keep an eye out there or on the launcher.
I echo the positive notes about keeping Hylek as the main races here. In fact I’m really glad we’re not getting more races.
- new races generally mean less time gets spent on them because of the work involved in fleshing them out. There are exisitng races we still need more lore info on before we can think about all new species.
Krait are one particular I’d like to see more of down the line. What we got from the Nightmare Tower was fascinating to me
- It’s more realistic to have alternative races within species. To have new races of Hylek really fleshes them out and we end up with less of the D&D approach of sticking in any old species of creature just for variety’s sake. This the Living World showing how evolution and natural selection has taken place in a game world, which is an interesting concept.
- Hylek were already part of the maguuma lore as previously stated
I can understand why people want to see more variety, but I think this direction fits the game much better.
I think Elona has the best chance of going somewhere beyond Tyria, probably by extending the main map and having Kralkatorriks influence in the north.
When will it happen? If it does, I’d estimate it to be many years away. That’s a lot of content to make for and it would need so much more time and resources than its GW1 counterpart. I expect to see content for Jormag and at least one other Dragon first.
I agree, it would be fascinating to see the evolution of the land, people and culture
If they can find a way to massively scale it down in size and scope to make it playable in the same way as the main story and the season 2 stuff, then it will be very welcome for so many people.
Unfortunately being a new concept for them, plus lacking both foresight and the benefit of hindsight at the time, season 1 wasn’t designed to be replayed in the future nor is it designed to be put into an alternate set of instances/mega servers and split the playerbase.
It’ll be tough and a lot of work for a team to re-do and it the likelihood is small, but we can all hope – it’s a huge and confusing gap in the game which will put off many new and returning players.
Everyone has their favourite zones from GW1 Tyria they wish to see – mine is the zones around Thunderhead Keep. Will they get added? Probably, but not until the story and expansions bring them to the fore. The new strategy is focus design zones as either LW updates or expansion blocks and only where they apply to where the story is headed. Currently those areas on the map, don’t actually exist beyond the overview map.
Which ofc makes perfect sense.
However, the beauty in the game is in what you have highlighted, in the fact that there is so much potential and material to tap into in future content and lands to explore. That has been a big draw for me since I first opened the map in this game.

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Good article. Nice to see a blog with lots of info and “meat” in it.
Yes, never understood this. I never encountered anyone who thought it was too confusing at low levels. I understand pacing content across levels, but this made no sense at all.
I hope one day they reconsider this. Underwater content is a wonderful part of the game (ok it needs refinement and balancing) and should never have been nerfed away in my opinion.
I still enjoy GW1. Kinda glad they’re different otherwise it would make the original redundant to me.
I enjoy both in their own right, but GW2 has had more of my time in 3 years than GW1 has had in about 8. I find GW2 more accessible to pick up and play.
There is no kill stealing, only kill sharing. The game encourages a more communal feel to it’s open world in this particular aspect and is a breath of fresh air – and I say this as an old school mmo gamer myself.
Like Miku says, you really wont lose any knowledge of your class. since you can only learn a very limited amount solo. It’s when you work with others for kills, that the game open up, with combo fields and aoe boons etc
When this was brought into some of the older games (like Lotro) as well, I was extremely glad.
I have not heard of any increase in system specs in relation to Heart of Thorns, but I can ask around and see if there’s the likelihood that the specs will change.
Any news on this Gaile?
No problem. The main threads are buried under dozens of junk threads atm, but here’s some more screenshots for your perusal
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Balthazar-s-Regalia-Coloured-Aura
Not today, even the mods barely work on Sundays which is why many reported posts aren’t dealt with until Sunday eve or monday morning.
The lack of response suggests it is as intended, but hopefully our forum specialist is feeding this back to the team for consideration
Unlikely a bug. Either intended or a welcome side effect. Lots of people are experimenting with this – I’ve seen lots of nice screenshots combining the aura and the colour changing from the polys and certain tonics.
you can always keyboard turn
Keyboard turning ftw \o/
It’s a nice website and good job on what was pretty time consuming I imagine to accumulate
I agree, it’s a long build up for one of the shortest of events. I know Maw, Behe aren’t hard events, but they do at least last enough time since the previous patch. Elemental should be brought into line, especially as it gives a slightly better reward iirc
They have stated this is not something they will change as it is too beneficial as a whole to the game.
. What causes the lag in dry top is when the storm isnt active, but swirls of dust are clouding the air i suffer the same and in areas of high smoke like Frostgorge.
The beta area of HoT also has some heavy smoke areas. I managed to reduce it with some reductions in settings and camera views, but it was still below 15fps.
I dont think it is a failure on th devs part, but something about our PCs which is struggling with these effects.
Is it possible to have a Moderator send me the items I need? If so, I need the full set of Heritage Light Armor.
No one can send you the items. Even if they had the functionality to do so (which they dont), if they sent you the items, everyone needing access to their hom would be clogging up support with requests.
Functionality will return very soon, as soon as the bug is fixed
Posts like these better belong here: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Suggestions-Gemstore-Items/first
:)
Wow, that’s like a dead and buried topic right there mate.
There used to be a separate section for this but it’s gone now pity.
It’s the main thread monitored by the dev team. if you want an idea noticed on this subject, that’s the place to put it
I find the game more accessible and freer to play terms of what i am able to do. The fact I am not shut out of content due to gear gates and that downscaling means I can enjoy content anywhere is the biggest appeal to me.
There are games that do just story or atmosphere or questing better and those I jump to in limited spurts. But, GW2 does the whole package I want really well, so here is where I will spend the bulk of my time and where I will benchmark (perhaps unfairly) other games.
When guild missions were added, a dev active,y said they werent designed for small guilds nor would they be catering for smaller guilds. That was 2 years ago and I hope that thinking has gone away.
Small guilds are extremely important to mmos, they often contain groups of tightnit friends which can last a lot longer than larger guilds in the overall life of the game. But they need to feel a part of the game. Im hoping guild halls will be the start of bringing that back in some way.
Thief pistol/pistol I find fun
What if they have one month or two a year where they do a fast forward through the story line? They put the season one back in for that period of time with all the map wide events and everyone can play through it and see it.
An interesting idea, but I fear it would confuse people or at least new players coming in, especially if people started halfway through or people were unable to play long enough to enjoy the whole thing in such a very short lifespan. I prefer the idea of re-playable instanced content in the journal, to be played at leisure.
I like a lot of that Konig. They could cut down some of the instance stuff by reusing the fractal instances that now exist as well.
As for teq, they could keep that as is. Sure it isnt soloable, but add a bit of story to it and just have it as an optional bonus mission to complete on a tequatl kill. A lot of the scavenger bits still exist.
Its the best idea ive seen yet for re doing s1, def something for our forum specialist to put forward anyway
The main issue with Tequatl Rising and how it is now is that Rox isn’t there now. That’s half of the (very little) story Tequatl Rising gave, and the relevant-to-Season-1 half at that.
If Rox were there – and nothing really prevents her from being there and claiming “that spot’s stuck in time” – then it can simply be a case of “participate in the Tequatl fight” much like the Marionette was for unlocking A Moment’s Peace. You didn’t have to defeat the Marionette, you just had to participate in the event..
True. They could forgo Tequatl I guess. It isn’t wholly relevant to the main story and in essence hasn’t gone away in terms of content.
That only has a chance at Xmas. I’d suggest posting in the main black lion/gem store thread. Many suggestions have born fruition from that.
The others have nothing to do with HoT so wont appear there. The Dragon has been asked for a lot by the community and there was never even a reply from any Anet rep. I suspect that is their way of saying it isn’t for non-China players
Llama is achievable and the SAB stuff, well you know the answer to that already. It is reasonable to assume a return on those.
actually…is does funny things sometimes, esp in combat
tested it on my human and it is worked normally

Includes other pvp sets too
Tribal has already been stated to return by a dev.
Source?
Tribal wasn’t the only pvp set that got removed in that patch.
It was a dev quote on the forums specifically answering about tribal, but it was months ago. Ill find it if i get a chance.
Honestly everyone was saying Mursaat but when I saw the teaser with the floating creatures they seemed more Margonite-esque. If Margonites are demon-esque maybe the Exalted are the “angel-esque” counterparts?
I would say it is too far fetched for the writing team to come up with. The lore shows that they had a city in the jungle, so the mursaat is the obvious conclusion to come to. I expect the discrepancy is just new artwork
