It’s obvious at this point so there’s no need elaborating on the diminishing interest/population in Guild Wars 2 PvP.
Can this be reversed, or are any initiatives a band-aid on a bullet hole at this point?
I never want Dragon hunter to be meta. It literally shuts down every fun high damage build and is countered by every tanky boring build.

I personally feel like 35 energy is a little bit too heavy, 30 would have been the max i expected (i know this sounds insignificant but that’s roughly 16%).
This means there is less effective counterplay when it comes to thieves back capping your node which is a little disappointing given that i feel like rev phase was built with this in mind when designing the profession.
We’ll see how it plays out though.

So thats a nerf to mesmer (doesn’t necessarily need a nerf like that), a bigger nerf to necro (doesn’t need a nerf at all) and a buff to warrior, which is very likely the strongest class using mercs atm.

Depends on the mesmer. When people talk about mesmer right now they mean the s2 condi chrono meta build.
There are still plenty of mes builds that’ll absolutely run circles around war. But condichrono is countered in conquest by various power or condi berserker setups in conquest.
No. Saying condi chrono is countered by condi berserker warrior is similar to saying thief is countered by power invocation revenant. Mesmer can die when it makes mistakes vs warrior but if you play intelligently and use your should block appropriately rather than just spamming it off cd u can win every time. Your node my get neutralized because of resistance utility/ distortion but mesmer will win the matchup.
Power berserker gets the benefit of unblockables, making shield a liability, not a boon in the matchup.
Condi berserker can easily decap the point AND sustain himself in the fight.Forcing the chrono off point, forcing a decap, that’s an instant win for the berserker. The Beserker doesn’t even need to cap/hold the point. He’s free to disengage too at his discretion if he absolutely has to, because he’ll always be able to return to decap the point again. This Neutralizes not only the point, but the chrono’s presence in the match.
Berserker > Condi Chrono – Unless you’re dumb about it.

OMG, seriously? paladin is also commonly used for power builds and demolisher is better on warrior, unlike mercenary which renders all other condition amulet to trash
A lot of necros are running wanderer. Sword warriors run wanderer but mace war runs mercs because MACE HAS NO CONDI DAMAGE OUTSIDE THE ZERKER f1.
Some traitlines and weapons are designed around hybrid damage, and some are designed around stacking crit chance for more condition damage/applicaiton. removing mercs is nothing but a lazy half kitten d fix to try to fix mesmer without actually changing mesmer.
The only thing that will happen as a result of this is teams are going to be forced into running Rev/Druid/Thief since power damage is going to be the clear winner but whatever.
Build diversity is but a dream.

Mercenary Amulet was used by the Meta builds for Mesmer, Necro and is currently used by Condi Warriors and if anyone did play Condi Rev it was used by that also. So no its not a niche amulet used only by condi mesmer.
Yeah i said “Tier 1” builds. I didn’t say mesmer was the only one using mercenary amulet, it’s simply the only class using the amulet that is out of hand at the moment. Necro, Condi Rev, and Condi Warrior are fine as is in terms of relative power to other specs and mercenary removal is going to kitten those specs by a HUGE amount giving us an even smaller number of builds to choose from. Honestly, I shouldn’t even need to explain this.

If Warriors had BASELINE FAST HANDS and a way to have sustain outside of double Endure Pain then maybe Berserker could be good. However, the base Warrior needs changes first.

But i do agree, it is not the mid range things that are the problem like the 4 stats amulets but the extremes, which are 3 stats.
Are you aware that pretty much every meta spec right now either takes marauder or celestial amulet? (the only exception being bunker guardian)
Celestial, Crusader, and Marauder have more stats overall than the rest of the amulets. Remove the amulet system and replace it with custom stat allocation.
Allow it so people can place stats into any given area (Power, precision, toughness, vitality, ferocity, healing power, condi damage) in increments of 150 stat points without exceeding 1200 points in any given area. I believe this would improve game balance and enhance build diversity.

A build should not rely almost exclusively on it’s elite to remain viable. If a nerf to rampage shifts warrior into trash tier the class should be re examined.
Rampage is obviously broken and needs to be toned down.
Please make this a priority.

The real problem with gw2 pvp is that is a GAME!! It is a fun game but it is a GAME none the less, a distraction, FILLER. There is nothing wrong with it.
If you’re not finding fulfillment or find the game is “not good” or “unbalanced” or “lacks incentive” GOOD GOOD!!! You are HUMAN!!!! You will not find satisfaction operating within the confines of a universe that MAN created. Leave the chains and take part in God’s creation.

The change is just odd because it is assumed they reduced the damage on hundred blade AND whirlwind attack already to compensate for the f1 rework. Since they were making this change I assumed that majority of the damage was just going to be front loaded to the f1 in a similar fashion to axe (Damage on f1, utility on axe 2 and 3). Instead, they decided to nerf the damage on HB and whirlwind along with making arcing slice an average burst ability at best.
So what we’re left with is a pretty average – if not sub par – weapon.

Could you please change weapon skills 2 and 3 to allow to to sheath cancel or escape cancel the skills while putting them on full cooldown. This would give us MUCH greater control over the weapons movement around the map and make it feel less clunky overall.

Bunker Guardian + D/D Celestial Ele is one of the best 2v2’s on your node. You can win most matchups by attrition and 2v3 for a substantial amount of time, leaving your dps to lock down another node and rotate in for a teamfight.
The Only problem is that in this situation you have both your support on one node, meaning that if your dps are stuck in a straight up 3v3 they can be disadvantaged.

This is exactly what we’ve needed as far as a build resource website.
I’m going to make a note to go through the warrior builds this weekend just to refine them a little bit.

Yeahhh… this is just my opinion but i think celestial suits warrior and ele better than engi just because warrior and ele can stand on point with it. Celestial engis don’t stand on point so they give up a full condi amulet for like half the condi damage + some power and more sustain, but the sustain sort of goes to waste because they still rely on counter pressure to maintain the node. So why not just take a condi amulet and have more presence. Idk…. A lot of people would disagree with me but I feel like cele engi is kind of meh in anything but straight up 1v1’s, and even then condi excels in that field.
There are so many variables that you have to consider when it comes to balance (especially in this game/the conquest game mode) before saying that something that can sit on a point and deal damage is “unbalanced”.
There’s power damage, condi damage, burst damage, ranged damage, melee damage, AoE Damage, direct support, hard cc, soft cc, mobility, sustain through healing, sustain through toughness/vitality, condition volume, condition cleanse, condition application rate, invuln periods (which count as sustain in a way), stealth, EVADES, etc etc etc etc.
When you talk about class balance within the conquest game mode you have to consider the number variables/assets/detriments existing within each class/build and how they can lead to a teams ultimate success or downfall. Also, you have to consider how much counter play there are to these abilities/features and form and argument about how it could be changed to better improve the game.
Seriously… Think hard, play pvp ALOT, and form a legitimate argument before coming on the forums and crying about game balance. The majority of what is said/discussed hear is mind bogglingly boring, useless, and non-insightful.
Seriously, don’t come on here and criticize others when you play a warrior. Obviously you aren’t going to have a problem with balance. We get it. Warriors think their class is completely balanced.
Nice, if you read my post with both your eyes this time you’ll realize that I didn’t actually discuss the balance of my main class nor any of the classes in the game. I simply mentioned that others should try to consider the variables when it comes to class design/game balance and then bring up a supported point that people can discuss intelligently and build on.
However, it’s probably not worth your time considering you can just pull the ‘you play warrirox they have a hammer nerf bunker dmg’ (Even though it is COMPLETELY non-relevant to the original post) rather than actually think about asymmetric balance and class design within the game mode.

This is pretty solid, but I suggest you check out gwpvx which was the guild wars 1 build resource. It was incredibly solid and I’m still surprised we don’t have a similar if not near replica of gwpvx for guild wars 2.
Ehhh…. the balance is in a decent sport right now. All the professions sort of have their own niche with the exceptions being ranger and arguably mesmer. What most people seem to be upset over are the sigil and rune power, which don’t really affect any one profession or group of professions specifically.

I am Rar. I compete in various PvP events and happen to be working toward a legendary weapon. Two weeks ago i competed in the 5v5 and 2v2 cups placing first and second place respectively but have not yet received my gems for the tourney.
I’ve been planning on converting the gems to gold to pay for my precursor as it is the last piece i need for my legendary, but unfortunately the gems have been delayed so I’m looking for a 300 gold loan which i should be able to pay back immediately after receiving my gem codes (presumably sometime next week).

No, not really. I guess it depends on how you define meta, but these builds are definitely not seen in competitive play. The exception being Fraelina playing a triple meds hammer guard a few weeklies ago.

Have guardian put up prot if available. Strafe autos from range and have thief/engi apply blind field if they have it. Thief/mesmer/necro can strip stability and you can cc it to death at that point.
If there are two lich in a fight just peace and win every other fight for the next 3 minutes.
I don’t know why people are still impatient for the next balance patch when the feature patch – which altered the meta significantly – was released last month. I would argue that there really isn’t a direction to move in as far as balance goes at this point since there haven’t been too many serious competitions since the Tournament of Legends to observe and tweak the meta off of. In fact a large portion of the top players (at least in the NA scene) are missing at the moment because they simply have no motivation to play.
The lack of catering to the competitive scene at the time being is understandable given that China release is taking up quite a few of the companies resources. However, I would recommend that Anet announce another tournament which has REAL LIFE rewards (whether it be a cash prize, a trip, or hardware) and possibly announce this in tandem with the ladder system. Optimally, this should be announced within the next 2-3 months because right now the miniscule scene we do have is decaying rapidly.

I was curious because the stream wasn’t broadcasted at the time noted in the original post, it was about 20 minutes late.
All thieves use shortbow, all mesmers use greatsword, all engis use grenades, and all warriors use longbow. There is little diversity among ranged weapon sets in pvp across the board, so why would you complain about warrior specifically?
Where is the interview?
As one of the best players in this game, I can tell you from the bottom of my heart, that Asurans are one of the biggest advantages in PvP. This game doesn’t have cast bars correct? So the biggest advantage is, dealing damage without your enemy knowing whats going on. Asurans have no equal because of how small they are, and its hard to pick out what they are doing even without the 1000000000 particles flying around. It would be wise to ban Asurans from the rest of the tournaments in Tpvp. Or have a future goal to make all characters have the same model in actual tournaments.
