Thanks for helping run the ToL. I will say I’ve participated in almost every tournament in this game on the NA side and out of all of them this one was the most organized and fluid one I’ve been in. Well done.

I think there are much stronger comps than double war at the moment. The meta is still adjusting so double war is a pretty ‘safe’ option but I believe we’re going to see composition changes after the tournament, at least among the top teams.
Yeah, the damage on AI is broken right now.
Ranger pets, AI from rune bonuses, Mesmer clones, summoned AI such as the glyph elementals, svanir/chieftain and the legacy keep npc’s are all hitting WAY too hard at the moment.
I hope this gets fixed before the Tournament of Legends

Sorry, I made a typo and edited my post so that the cavalier amulet has secondary toughness in place of precision.
The main problem with the amulets at the moment is that they are mostly useless. Soldiers is flat out superior for power builds since it has main stat power.
For example:
Knight’s Amulet: 942 Power | 643 Precision | 643 Toughness
Cavalier’s Amulet: 942 Power | 643 Ferocity | 643 Toughness
Right now these amulets are rarely if ever used in PvP because they are main stat toughness. This is due to the fact that precision and ferocity are reliant on both eachother and power enable to be effective, while power is useful in all situations (critical and non critical).
Implement this change and i guarantee these amulets will begin to see play.
Edit: Cavalier changed to secondary toughness rather than precision.

I would agree that thieves are strong, but you are extremely incorrect when saying that there is no counter play involved. A good thief will roll just about anyone, but that’s because you just get outplayed. kitten like hambow, condi wars, spirit rangers, MM necros are the bullkitten that should be looked at.

Thief has no counterplay because the class revolves around uncounterable mechanics such as stealth (no way to react to abilities being used in stealth other than random dodging), steal (instant cast), and highest mobility in game via high access to shadow steps which become even more effective when encountering maps with an accent on the z-axis element (notably temple and kyhlo)
The argument that thieves in high end pvp are just “outplaying” everybody is silly. As two players begin to approach the skill cap for their respective classes the thief becomes more and more effective given that the thief learns the abilities of their opponent and how to react to them/counter them while the enemy is stuck random dodging and throwing abilities everywhere hoping that the thief kittens up.
What this means is that the thief has the capacity to win many 1v1’s if they play well, and practically every 1v1 if they play perfectly. Mind me, this is no easy task, but is unbalanced given that the opponent doesn’t have the capacity to play perfectly in the matchup because of the class mechanics.
Despite all this, you rarely/never need to engage in 1v1’s given the classes mobility. You can just decap empty points all game and out rotate forcing the enemy into a virtual 4v5 if they don’t have their own thief. This is the reason you see a thief in pretty much every competitive team at the moment, as the only way to deal with this is to bring your own and do the same thing.
You can see an example of a no thief vs double thief team if you watch the vods of the last NA Mistpedia weekly cup over at twitch.tv/blu42 where Caed subbed in for team Good Fights and we played double thief vs Outplayed by Children who had no thief. I would like to point out that we played the composition poorly given that we had never practiced it before but it’s still worth checking out as Helseth is featured as a guest shoutcaster and gives some interesting insight about thieves in competitive pvp.

It’s very rare that I and many others are NOT getting delay in this game. I can’t even count how many times I’ve gotten hit with skills mid evade or had an ability miss because it goes off late.
In majority of the tournaments people have been complaining about lag and many games have been lost due to disconnects. Stop trying to fix rewards, stop trying to balance (for now), and fix your god kitten servers.

The EU ESL weekly cup had 10 teams looking to compete last week. I’d like to see the weekly cup in NA revitalize the community the same way it did in EU.
To kill a thief you need sustain. Warriors can kill all burst builds by outsustaining them.
Actually good thieves obliterate warriors, and thieves are pretty much the only burst roamer in the meta right now.

If I had a dime every time someone on this forum says, “That build isn’t viable.” I would be very rich. This is what he runs. That is what he runs in tpvp – this isn’t just a random build. He prefers a roamer spec.
Tarcis runs hambow when he plays teams. I can 100% guarantee that.
It could have gotten cleansed. They also could have burned the blind with a downed state auto attack. I know if you lay a smoke bomb on a guardian and try to stomp they can time their auto between the ticks and get off an interrupt before the next blind is applied.

Blu isnt bad at shoutcasting, but countless makes a huge point in that you dont ever hear any skills being called out that were used to make a play. Its just “he is taking damage, now he is taking damage, now he is in the downstate” so on and so forth. The game can get very cluttered, but you dont need to call out everything. Just call out what was actually done in order to kill the other players. Have some insight of the game like you actually know whats going on. There is never anything said about what skills players are using in order to make kitten happen which is just boring. Blu is by no means bad. Just stuff to improve on. Not just Blu, but the other casters as well

I’d also like to point out that blu’s casting has come a long way and he seems to be making an effort towards giving his viewers a better idea of what’s happening in the fight rather than focusing on the HP bars. At least this is what i thought after watching the ESL #15 videos.

I’m fine with the current game mode aside from the fact that very bunkery teams/builds are simply too effective and too forgiving (this was made fairly obvious in the last tournament). They could tweak conquest a bit to reward kills and discourage streaming into points with tanky characters. A good start would be to increase the the points per kill from 5 to 10.

A good friend and teammate of mine quit shortly after this build came into the meta game. I’d also like to point out that two teams ran decap engis in the good fights tournament. Keep in mind this is a build that does offer any team support nor is it designed to kill people in a PVP GAME.
This absolutely terrible for the game and is incredibly hard to counter despite being incredibly easy to execute. It was bad enough having teams running super bunker comps but now bunkers can literally full cap your node when they have no intention of actually fighting you. I mean seriously?

If you’re bleeding somebody in downed state they can go to the character select screen and re-enter to avoid it. Pretty bad exploit.

The weakness to healing signet has always been poison and high burst damage.
At the moment, with 30 pts in the defense line, The HPS of healing signet becomes equal to Healing Surge if your opponent can manage to keep poison on you ~50% of the time.
Assuming healing signet gets cut by 8% your opponent will need to keep poison on you only ~26% of the time enable to bring down healing signets effective HPS to the same level of Healing Surge (assuming you cleanse poison before using it at the third adrenaline level).
Given the current state of the condition meta-game and heavy amount of poison flying around from many sources, warriors are already actively working to keep poison off, and I worry that this change is going to simply make healing signet not worth it (unless the amount of poison in the game is significantly reduced).
I would rather see healing signet reworked than its effectiveness straight out reduced given that it actually makes warrior a viable attritionist/backpoint defender.
What do you guys think? Let’s keep the discussion below intelligent. I don’t want this to turn into an omg god mode warrior heal signet no button bind power wrecked 3 shot hammer combo thread like every other warrior balance discussion that has ever existed ever.

The change to PW is going to be awkward.
The only situation i could imagine the split being useful is for using your sword 2 immob your target then hopping right into the slashes. Then again this would require you to burn your stun before shadow stepping.
Another downside is that if you happen to miss your stun or immobilize you will be walking around with the slashing evade frames that you’ll probably be forced to burn your ini on if you wish to reclaim the stun skill.
Optimally I would like if pistol whip were just separated into 2 different skills rather than a chain skill but that’s not going to happen.
More thieves implying that thieves are underpowered. Thieves aren’t underpowered.

The problem with this skill is purely the lack of telegraph, not the cast time.
Just update the animation so it’s as obvious as smoldering arrow and remove some of the bleed stacks.

It’s because Engineers have way more buttons to press man. So that makes them super skillful.
All shall bless me for I play the engineer. I hold by far the greatest amount of skill because ground targeting.

For the last few weeks I’ve been having recurring skill delay majority of the time I PvP, and it’s making playing the game intolerable. I’ve tried contacting my isp, running a latency tool, disabling background programs, and resetting my modem/router, and it’s not getting me anywhere. This brings me to believe that the issue is server side.
Some friends and I were planning on competing in the vVv king of the mists tourney but given my situation and other players on my team involving the skill delay there is a good chance we are not going to be competing next month for what would be our first tournament.
Any notice or acknowledgement on this issue from A.net? Lag seems to progressively gets worse for many of us at night still (EST).

Team queue is the only PvP that offers long term sustainable fun for the following reasons.
1) You choose who you play with. (YOUR FRIENDS!)
2) Rotating properly and keeping track of enemy movement is where the real skill comes in this game. The lack of communication ( specifically lack of VOIP) makes this difficult if not impossible in other formats. It’s very rewarding pulling off tight rotations.
3) Cheese specs (MM necro, shamans condi war, PU mesmer, phantasms , etc.) aren’t viable in competitive tournament play, and it’s fun punishing people for running such specs
4) No 4v5 unless you get a disconnect
Many other reasons but cba. Team queue is vastly superior to solo or hotjoin.
However, it might be a good idea hone your skills in solo queue and hotjoin before testing your metal in the arena. While you’re solo queueing keep your eye out for good players that you jive well with and build up a friends list of players to queue with. Before you know it you’ll have your own team.

I would be totally ok with them removing asura from PvP if I could wear my asuran cultural armor on a human.
I’ve been getting skill delay when I play on oceanic hours occasionally. It’s not at a set time but it’s usually between 10pm to 5am server. I’m pretty sure it’s not my isp because whenever it happens my friends seem to have it as well.
Do you perform system maintenance on off peak hours? If so you should either
1) Put out a game wide message that server maintenance is being performed and could affect game play.
2) Schedule a server shutdown each week for 1-3 hours to do server maintenance, similar to Blizzard.
The damage on a soldiers hammer warrior is actually pretty underwhelming unless you get fury and some might stacks going.
Pre-nerf hammer warriors could go soldiers and get around the same damage zerk hammer warriors are getting now, if not more.
