“personal reward level for the Fractals of the Mists is above 30 will be reset to 30 so the competition can begin in earnest..”
Rofl! XD
I laughed so hard at that GIF. It’s too perfect.
While the preview page for the next patch will be opening in a few hours, I’ll post this early preview for those of us who like to play ahead of the game.
In all due fairness, a caltrop/pistol/stealth spamming thief can win most fights though a battle of attrition. I can avoid the gas, but when the thief starts dodging on top of me, it’s sorta hard to completely avoid all the caltrops. And that bleeding damage is nothing to laugh at.
I agree. My new engi needs some carrion love :\
Despite the real or fake notes, why is anyone surprised they would do this AGAIN with Ascended Armor release (just like with Weapons)? It makes COMPLETE sense as otherwise, the progression to 500 would be much slower and expensive. This is NOT news, but an expected change.
Thank you. ^ Someone who understands.
What if summoning a second pet (copy of current active, perhaps?) acted as an elite skill and had a set duration?
One issue with gw2 is it’s not as alt-friendly as it could be. For example, while leveling an alt, players will have to re-unlock any and all dyes they had on previous characters all over again. While this may be ok for the first or maybe even second alt, by the third, a feeling of tediousness will often set in. I remember originally, A-net, you had plans to have dyes be unlocked across all characters upon consumption. While I can’t recall what your reasons where for changing your minds, I believe this was a mistake.
To compromise, an upgrade should be purchasable in the gemstore that does exactly this: make all dyes unlocked by all one’s characters available to the rest. This item would fit in the ideology of being a purely cosmetic upgrade and convenience item, just like the unlimited mining tools. I would imagine this item would cost around 800-1200 gems to be fair.
It would always be cool to be able to meet your own characters and interact with them. Although, that sounds like a very complex system. I’m not sure how it would be done.
In the future, A-net is going to re-vamp underwater combat to make it more appealing to all. When they do this, it will probably be with the addition of a new watery zone, and maybe a new dungeon. It’s just a waiting game.
I personally hope Ascended Armor will arrive in December — if not sooner. Here’s to hoping.
There are certain “looks” that are not craftable, both in armor and weapons. Other than that, you can craft the best items of any given level (bar pre-level 10). Keep in mind that the best equipment at any given level is very, very standardized and the only difference between two pieces of gear will be the different stat distributions, the looks, and the rune in place.
In regards to that, the different stat distributions will mean any 1-3 choices of your stat (depending on the level) with one primary and up to two secondary stats which will follow a system noted on the wiki (ingame type: /wiki Item Nomenclature).
The looks can be anything you want respective to that [armor]type (Medium has to be a Medium armorskin, Heavy has to be a Heavy armorskin, Light has to be a…), but can be anything, including starter gear oe even Legendary (in regards to weapons. Yes, you can run around at level 1 with a Legendary weapon, if you have it ready and are willing to spend some extra money to be silly).
The rune is equivalent to an enchantment in any other game. The bonus you get from the rune is equivalent to how many of that rune you are wearing. If you are wearing 5 of the same runes (not including aqua breather, which is basically your underwater hat), then you will, in TOTAL get all the bonuses from 1-5. You will not get the bonuses 5x, nor will you only get one of the bonuses. You will get ALL OF THE BONUSES ONCE.
Any questions?
Thank you, I’ve done some more research on it and more of understanding. For example, can I make Flame Legion armor have rampager stats?
I would like to note that Flame Legion armor already comes with Rampager stats as one of the options (http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Officer_Veros). However, If you were to want a look that didn’t use a stat-choice you wanted, then you would have to use a transmutation crystal.
I would, sometime in the future, like an “upgrade” item for lets say 800 gems, that will make one’s unlocked dyes account bound rather than character bound.
Gear ladder? Ascended may be difficult to get, but that’s one short ladder. Ascended is really the last tier being released. Legendary armor is coming too, but those stats are changeable on the fly.
It’s the combination of some of the timegates that make the gear ladder longer than it actually is, because most players don’t have the money to just buy all of the materials to skip the timegates involved in making ascended material.
Or they can just craft with the time-gate. It’s not like they need the weapons right now anyway. As you have said, “most players don’t have the money to just buy all the materials to skip the time-gates.” I would say even more don’t have the money to buy all the materials to begin with. With most people, the time-gate won’t be a hindrance, but rather a pacer to help them not feel inferior.
I want Ascended Food.
Ascended Waffles! Or…wait….ASCENDED BACON.
I say you should be a Charr Ranger. There are just too few good Charr Rangers out there. There best Charr Rangers I’ve seen are wearing either:
1) HotW medium armor
2) The gemstore bought Krytan armorset
3) A mix of the starter thieve’s hood & the heritage armor set
An above poster said:
“I realize the GS is an interesting defensive weapon but there’s really no reason for people to be afraid of it right now.”
The reason people are not afraid of it right now is because that evade is keeping the damage in check.
Is that what is keeping the damage is check? Are you sure? Maybe the damage is just flat out inadequate and A-net can buff that without removing the evade.
The evade on the GS is one of the only things keeping power rangers relatively alive in front line fights in WvW. I dislike running conditions because of the passive use of cooldown play it brings. As such, the evade on the 1 allows me to control when i want to evade simply by removing the auto attack.
I would prefer the devs create better means of sustain than relying on passive mechanics.
Did you not read the end of his post? He can control when he evades. Control =/= Passive.
While this is my opinion, and I am in no means a music expert, I feel the music in the trailer portrayed “space adventure” more than “a tower of nightmares.” I think a darker, more sinister tune would have fit better. I don’t have any idea what content the tower will showcase, or if it will be “creepy” or “dark,” but metal just doesn’t seem to fit with the overall theme.
Anyway, I just wanted to say good luck to all those music video contestants out there. I can’t even begin to imagine how you are going to use this song.
Also, A-net, could you give a picture of the winnable guitar? I may have missed it, but being able to see what one could win might promote more people to enter.
Am I the only one who wants to see that evade on GS gone? If you want burst then stop using the GS as a DEFENSIVE weapon. It is just another passive mechanic that has no place in game. I would gladly trade that evade for damage boost.
That’s the thing though: Ranger GS is a defensive weapon. It’s what separates it from a ranged utility weapon like the Mesmer, an offensive weapon like the Warrior or Guardian. If your skilled, the evade on chain 3 isn’t passive. Turn off auto attack and time your 1’s, and you’ll have an evade every 3-ish seconds that is actually timed. A whirl finisher wouldn’t add much in terms of offense. Honestly, it’s a pathetic finisher that relies on something worse than passive play — luck.
Gear ladder? Ascended may be difficult to get, but that’s one short ladder. Ascended is really the last tier being released. Legendary armor is coming too, but those stats are changeable on the fly.
While I think this would be better as a toggle, so players can choose to see their weapons in this menu, I do believe this is a good idea.
Probably low on A-net’s priority list, though.
Tequatle has somethings to say about your zerker armor.
Tequatle prefers a mix of Soldier’s and Zerker.
They said a lot of things before release, I wouldn’t keep my hopes up.
They have years to improve. I would keep hope.
lol — DAT DAGGER is hilarious!
+1 (15 characters)
Unlikely. If it does, it won’t be for a very long time.
A-net. My question for you is:
What is your philosophy behind the Ranger? If a warrior has excellent mobility and heavy hitting attacks, a guardian works well with team-mates and is designed to get in a foe’s face and stay there, a mesmer boasts great utility, a thief is slippery to catch and adaptive, a necromancer is the king of condition and boon manipulation, an elementalist is the jack of all trades, and an engineer is just…an engineer — they are weird…
What is the idea behind a Ranger? It would be disappointing to hear they “have a pet.” Because that is not a profession milestone, that is a mechanic to reach a milestone. Since the game’s release, I have been unsure of what gap a Ranger is meant to fill. Some clarification would help somewhat.
Same thing happened to me.
Keep in mind the limited radius of the storm spirit active. It is also dodge-able. Yes, you heard right — dodge-able. What? You were CC’d down? That’s horrible! It’s not like you’ve been CC’d and spiked before! I know, let’s nerf the spiker! That will put things in there place. Please excuse the fact that you were in a 1v3 and expected to survive. Because that is irrelevant.
As the title states, I would like the option to have my crafting tabs begin closed when I open a crafting pane. It would really save on space and benefit everyone through convenience.
(Also, Ranger WS and BM trait-line background arts are still backwards)
There have already been weapon sets available just through play. As for armor sets. It’s true they take much much more work for a-net to pump out, so they need to put a price take on them more often then not. But don’t say it’s well and done. I guarantee there will be new armor sets available through play in the future as a-net begins to grow.
I found some Tengu investigating directly South of the tower, but I can’t remember if they were there or not before.
If you really have a problem with it, just keep hitting them till they die.
Plot twist! Mesmers can’t use portals in the JP! Lol, now watch the tears roll.
If you were to block someone, or someone were to block you, what would be the response for attempting to whisper the other? Does it say the player is offline? Or does it actually say you’ve been blocked by X player?
Why not make the Snake Pit remove conditions with the idea of “anti-venom” from the snakes? Every pulse or two, the trap could remove 1 condition from the Ranger while he/she stands in it.
I almost spewed my soda all over my monitor when I first saw this. Then after some testing, I was thoroughly disappointed. :\
There are several hints in-game stating that Jormag is next. Sorry to disappoint.
Well, I’m not so sure treb poison clouds would be completely worthless. After all, the clouds would just re-apply the poison again in a second.
Ranger — Can now perma-stow pets. Gain the buff “carefree” while pet is stowed which increases the Ranger’s dps by 30-40%
I wish A-net would just turn axe into a power weapon while giving torment to sword #2
Same here, TP has been acting weird recently.
Thorn probably felt shame for his son because Edrick never made horrible jokes and puns while slaughtering people…never took after his father sigh
I missed it, does it matter what server you’re on?
Might come in the next patch. After all, it would still be Halloween.
I don’t expect the next patch to fix even half our problems. Ask me this question again 3 years down the line.
Last Halloween featured some of the most wicked weapons GW2 has seen. Here’s to hoping more come out with this year’s release.
I only managed to get this pic of a candy-corn elemental. But it’s still cool.
As a Ranger, I feel like any changes would be positive at this point…
In my opinion, the new path is about the level of difficulty dungeon paths should be. It is, however, too long. Well, I suppose dungeon length can very, but if a dungeon path is going to be this long, the rewards for beating it must be increased. Even now, with the end rewards doubled for the opening week, it is still not worth the players’ time. That’s my take on it, anyway.
