That is not true, as the other posters have said, you can get 5 tickets for 15 Watchwork Sprockets and 20 silver from the various vendors in the middle of Crown Pavilion. Watchwork Sprockets can be acquired from the TP quite cheap now (60 copper each last time I checked)

This game is totally pick-upable. It is true that you’ll have to familiarize yourself with some of the new changes that are released, but that’ll be no problem. Due to the way mechanics are set up, your progress will never loose its value. I say give it a try.

I would kill for a perma-stow option that grants a dps boosting boon. Having the pet out at times wouldn’t be useless, because it would boost our survivability through aggro mitigation. But in encounters like this…we need such an option.

As it stands, “challenge” comes into the game as enviornmental hazards.
(Such as the Frizz boss in the aetherblade dungeon). With these challenges, rangers have to work almost twice as hard as other professions, no matter what build the ranger takes with him. Something has to change. Many things have to change.

You yourself admit that guild wars 2 is 250 years AFTER guild wars 1. A lot of things have changed since then. The Elder Dragons have awoken, the Norn and Kodan have been pushed south, the assura have been pushed above ground. Oh, and Humans and Charr have a peace treaty.

That still doesn’t give reason to completely ignore so much amazing history. It just has to make a comeback in some way.

All in all, Evon would have made the better candidate. Just look at Yomm. There’s enough proof with him.

As an avid Gnashblade supporter and fan of the living story, I have been…disappointed with the election statistics. I have nothing against Kiel supporters, as many did carry legitimate reasons backing their decision. However, in the interest of future playerbase-voting, I would like to take a look at the big picture. Many others have stated my thoughts better than I could, so I will simply quote them:

Whether you agree with Shiren or not isn’t my concern. In future polls, I simply wish for A-net to equally introduce both sides into the story. As stated, Evon seemed to come out of nowhere, which did nothing to help bolster his fans. Also, don’t suggest one side as “bad” or “evil” as what was done to Gnashblade.

It’s nothing but a silly dream now, but I still hope Gnashblade will somehow win. As Katsumi Kei said:

“Just from the election cutscene you can see how weak and disorientated Kiel is, I can’t stand her. LA is governed by pirates, she is a soldier wannabe. For months she showed no character development and left no impression in any way, shape or form. Evon is newly introduced but showed cunning, confidence and effort. He is an Ash warband leader, been with the pirated for a long time…”

Hopefully Gnashblade will still play some important rolls even if he doesn’t make it in the council. Despite what may happen, I would still like to see him develop as a character and influence upcoming events.

In the future, A-net wants to make necro’s bunker viable by giving them more access to stability, weakness, blind, lifeforce gain, and lots of life-siphons.

Ranger toolbox isn’t just utilities, folks, it’s your 1-5. And between LR and QZ, there’s a TON of utility power in just those two alone, leaving a third open for whatever you feel you may need in the fight and to better define your play style. Shortbow is full of utility and also does really good sustained DPS, so I stand by my statement of rangers having an expansive tool box.
As for Ranger DPS not matching thief burst… yeah, that’s pretty obvious – I don’t think I’m rocking some boat by saying that. I accept that trade-off of lacking burst potential for having a better toolbox of things I can do to survive while outputting consistent DPS. I can see the longbow as maybe being a bit spiky, but nowhere near what a D/D can do. Maybe a trap ranger can get a bit bursty if they hit all 3 traps at once on a glass cannon, but Ranger to me isn’t a burst class – it’s a sustain and survive class.

You can’t really avoid a ranger’s sustained damage, but you can mitigate nearly all of a thief’s burst with really fast reaction and smart play.

I once got my jaguar to hit a warrior using a rifle for a super awesome crit around 12k on a single attack when all roided up from signet and shout, and getting a lucky crit. There’s potential, but it involves luck I can’t depend on, whereas a D/D thief can depend on his skill.

I’m more upset that nobody said anything whatsoever about my “swooping” into the thread… I thought that was golden.

When nearby allies attack enemies with the sun spirit’s boon on them, and apply burning, is the burning damage they inflict scaled off of your condition damage, or theirs?

I can tell you know that you’re likely to either be a spirit ranger or shout ranger maximizing in regen. Your pets are likely to be the blue moa and red moa (or a fern hound if you like).

Here’s a spirit ranger I wiped up really quick. It’s in no way optimal. But it should give you an idea.

According to Sea of Sorrows, the chance of working a truce got killed twice during that period. One wonders just how many potential truces got killed due to someone’s stupidity over the centuries?

On Logan… he was in a catch-22. He had obligations in two different places, which he could not fulfill simultaneously. He’d have let someone down whatever he did (and if you read EoD more carefully, it’s apparent that without his intervention, the Branded would have got to Jennah before she deus-ex-magica’d the battle. Not every spell is a combat spell with a casting time of seconds, after all). In fact, he left hoping that he’d be able to handle Jennah’s problem in time to return for the fight, and thus cover both.

Seriously, I’d like to see what the other members of Destiny’s Edge, or you armchair analysts, would have done in a similar position.

On humans being trusted in general: Some humans can’t be trusted. Some charr also can’t be trusted. Same with norn, asura, and sylvari. No one race has a monopoly on proverbial rotten apples.

Would killing Kralkatorrik not have severely weakened his minions attacking Ebonhawke? He was being too shortsighted. he should have thought of the long-run, and what ridding Tyria of an elder dragon would mean for the land. The human Queen is important, for sure, but not compared to the death of and elder dragon’s tyranny.

I wish A-net would have given Evon more backstory & character introduction through events before setting up the election. Since they didn’t, many see Evon as just some evil, greedy, ‘nameless’ charr battling for supremacy over a well-known character.

The guy won’t even sell unlocks for stuff like untradeable items, even though he can easily make more with that magic asura 4D printer in his basement (yeah, I know your secret, Evon, you can’t fool me, the smell of infinitely replicated items is unmistakable).
Accidentally lost an item for any reason?
You’ll have to pay again! If you can pay at all, he may remove the item altogether and you won’t be able to get it again, even though you already paid for it!

And it can be easy to make a mistake, since transmuted items show with the wrong skin in vendors, and deleting a character won’t warn you if the character had any lifetime missable items when you delete it. And lots of other stuff may happen. It doesn’t matter how you may lose it. It may happen.

Lion’s Arch needs the growth that Gnashblade can provide; like Yomm before him, Gnashblade holds the right talent to make Lion’s Arch thrive.

The Captain’s Council already has merchants and and money men in its ranks. Evon doesnt really offer it much that it hasnt already got in that department. If anything, Evon could represent the same threat to Lion’s Arch that Yomm was in that his market strength could grow too dominant, allowing him to shoulder out the opposition and set laws to favor a monopoly.

Also Gnashblade is in the pocket of the Ash Legion. Do you really want to give a outside power governmental power in LA and undermine its independance?

Plus Kiel is a woman that will vote on her convictions which could be interesting as it could set her against the other council members at times. Gnashblade is just another business man.

I believe their were unconfermed reports of Destroyers at the Reactor just before it exploded. Frankly, the thing with the reactor is it wasnt just another research base. It was the heart of Inquest research into the EDs. Knowing what actually trigger that explosion could tell us alot about the actual nature of the EDs and perhaps even their origins!

Clearly we should all vote Kiel. She is an upstanding and loyal Lion’s Archian with strong convictions while Evon is a dirty Ash Legion agent with hidden agendas. Plus Evon probably smells funny and just imagine how much of a mess he would make at the council meetings while he was molting. Cat fur…. everywhere.

I can assure you, Evon keeps himself well-groomed. And I don’t know why you would care what the council smells like. Furthermore, Evon is anything but “just another business man.” He’s the head of the freaking Black Lion Trading Company. If anything, he would know how to run a city — something Kiel seriously lacks. Kiel doesn’t even really want to do this — Magnus does. The Lion Guard are just trying to garner more power over the city.

Evon isn’t evil.

Gnashblade is not the evil, greedy character that everyone makes him out to be. In Lion’s Arch’s early days, the townsfolk thought Yomm was the same. Yet, after making council, he put every effort into making Lion’s Arch the best possible city it could be. Without him, this great city would be but a small town. First appearances are often deceiving.
