On a recent episode of Guildcast, Garry and Richie showed off some physical posters and pins of Kiel and Gnashblade you (A-net) gave them in honor of the upcoming patch…
A-net. A-net A-net A-net Arenanet. A-r-e-n-a-n-e-t. I would pay money. To you. For these items. In your shop. Why are they not there? Garry said “they gave me extras.” EXTRAS! So don’t tell me you can’t make enough copies you silly gooses. Gnashblade’s smile deserves a spot on my wall.
Do it.

A-net only has so many resources. They can’t possibly make both fractals at once, so they’re giving us the choice of which one we want first. Being understanding is the first step to being contempt.
Yeah i mean just because one living story team was able to make both of the story dungeons in the first half of the year doesn’t mean that 4 teams could make two fractals…..
That’s right, they can’t. 3 of those 4 teams are already at work on other projects. Don’t expect them all to be waiting for this one vote’s end result. Really, only 1 team will have the time to work on this. While one of the others, among other things, will be busy turning the Aetherblade and Molten facilities into condensed fractals.
I just want my 20 pristine fractal relics, my 50 laurels I spent on the Golden Lotus & Magic find infusion, and the 30 gold from my armor/weapons/runes/sigils back. then I’ll be contempt.
So it would disgust you if you got those things?… o.O
Also, you shouldn’t expect to get full value back. You have used and benefited from these items.
Yes, I do. I know at first, it seems like the value should decrease due to usage, but there’s a bigger picture:
I needed better loot. Most of my mat drops were T5 at best, and my luck finding rares and exotics was…undesirable. So I decided to invest my currency in a set of MF gear. Seeing as how insignificant even 50% magic find is, I had to go the whole 10 yards. I bought full explorer’s armor, with 6 runes of the traveler. A traveler’s longbow, sword, and dagger. Superior sigils of accuracy for all 3 weapons. both the rings (Snaff’s Gyre & Yakkington’s Ring). And the Golden Lotus W/ magica infusion. Then, A-net decides to remove these equips in place of a bigger, and better system. But the fact still stands — I invested in these things because I didn’t think the system would change. Regardless of how much I used them, I should not lose my resources for a change on A-net’s part. If I had known this would happen, I would have spent my currency in other fields.
A-net has given refunds before. Such as when they modified the arrowcart mastery world ability point line in WvW; after modifying the line, they gave an ability point reset to all players, because if they would have had a choice of where to spend their points with knowledge of the change, some would have spent it differently — regardless of how much they used the original point-line.
If someone is willing to riposte with a counter claim, I’ll be waiting, and willing, to further my point.
With that statement noone will as it is obvious that your mind is made up and nothing will come of the conversation.
Is that what I implied? My apologies; my intention was to extend my hope for meaningful debate, rather than mindless opinion blurting. While I am firm in my opinion, I am not unswayable. As of now, I feel I have found some middle ground…
As this threat has evolved, It seems we have partially strayed from the original post. As the thread’s creator stated:
As I was participating in these events for the achievement, someone said to us “Plz winner leave no winner x2 leave plz stop winner x2 stupid noob fsxk i need acheivnmtnz” or something along those lines.
His/Her reasons for creating this thread were (1) to gather a general consensus of the public, and (2) because one or more players were possibly spamming chat with [see above quote]. This topic is so controversial because, in the end, it doesn’t necessarily boil down to what is right or wrong, but what is eachother’s own opinion. In the present context, I mean to say: if you see someone ‘begging’ in chat for you to stop or slow down, you have absolutely no obligation to. That’s not to say you can’t — you can. if you feel obligated to, then by all means do it — but ignoring them and going on your way is in no right an evil thing to do.
I will admit, I still believe letting the incapable “get the easy way out” degrades the value of the achievement, because there is no way to tell if one ‘actually’ earned it, or not. But, for now, the prestige for doing so isn’t very outstanding.

You can always buy siege with them, and then sell the siege.
If they convert our gear to account MF or simply give us refunds, I hope they include the upgrades in the amount boosted/refunded (ie. Runes, Sigils, and Infusions [with both ecto & omni]).
I just want my 20 pristine fractal relics, my 50 laurels I spent on the Golden Lotus & Magic find infusion, and the 30 gold from my armor/weapons/runes/sigils back. then I’ll be contempt.
(Note: I never ran MF gear when in dungeon parties, only when I farmed by myself. However, being the toughness/vitality build I am, IF I did equip MF gear, and survived while doing so, I would actually be helping my party more.)
A-net will be adding a LFG system in-game soon. I’m not saying this will override your suggestion, I’m just throwing the fact out there.
I’d much rather have A-net make a vender which accepts MF gear, and refunds currency for them. For example: If you have the Golden Lotus amulet, equiped with the 20% MF infusion, then you will be refunded 50 laurels. This will allow players to re-place their hard-earned currency into what they DO want. Rather than get a stat combo they may never use.
If this happens…I’ll slaughter every seraph that comes close to my city. I swear on Wolf’s name, I’ll do it…
A-net only has so many resources. They can’t possibly make both fractals at once, so they’re giving us the choice of which one we want first. Being understanding is the first step to being contempt.
Leave Lion’s Arch alone! Bookah…
A-net has stated that they are looking to add build templates at a later date. However, PvP will likely be getting the option first, being that their gear system has less variables.
The guild should have 100% rep for rangers only. But the guild that Prysin made is already stable :P
Is it an EU or NA guild?
Spirts still die in seconds…
It would be pretty awesome if Evon and Kiel each handed out their respected vote-pins that could be equipped as a town clothes toy. I want to show my political support!
Remember way back in…what was it? The end of the 2nd or 3rd BWE? When we were thrown into Metrica Province to shoot each other to death? It was kinda a spin on the Hunger games. Anyway, sounds like they’re bringing it back, but on Southsun. So far, it sounds awesome.

Lol, this thread is cracking me up…

I wonder what kinds of things would happen if you mixed the Mists with chaos energy…
Chaos energy?…try the magic of the gods!

An achievement is an achievement for a reason…
If you can’t do it, you shouldn’t earn it.I agree here, you can´t call it a achievment if you just earn it for free.
It is at the same time amazing and sad that there are people that still think that everybody that can’t get the achievement simply can’t for lack of skill.
Please refer to this post.
Hmm, I disagree. It’s not very amazing, or sad, it’s just simply logical. You must understand what an achievement is, first, before you can come to terms with it being limited to the playerbase.
And achievement is, by definition:
(1) A thing done successfully, typically by effort, courage, or skill.
(2) The process or fact of achieving something.
The purpose of an achievement is to separate the community on a personal level, through ability — note: ability does not always mean skill. While I understand that there are many who will not be able to earn achievements due to unfair reasons (ie. Lag, dissabilities, etc…) the matter still stands that an achievement is an achievement. Believe me, I am not simply shouting from a sideline here; I am also one of these people. Due to my ISP, I suffer from disconnects every 20-40 minutes. Not to mention my occasional lag spikes, and my phone’s unfailing ability to ring during my most dire moments. There are some special achievements I was unable to acquire — and I accept that.
If someone is willing to riposte with a counter claim, I’ll be waiting, and willing, to further my point.
In Labyrinthine Cliffs, if you travel on land underneath the Zephyr Sanctum (very South-centered on the map) you’ll come across the ruins of what looks like an old ship. Upon closer inspection, it has some interesting wreckage: such as a steel cage hanging from a chain that appears to have been busted open from the inside.
Do we have any clue what this ship could be? Was it a previous Zephyr Sanctum? If it was, I may have a theory of what could have been in that cage.
It’s deeper than you think.

Well by some miracle thick leather has risen to 10c….
at least according to gw2spidy. I’m assuming that must be an error because there was over 7,000,000 units listed at 8c as of 2 hours ago. I can’t get ingame atm to confirm but wow…
This market is either going to crash hard tomorrow or if the boxes are worth it then it might continue for a while. Lets hope the patch brings a balance on the drop rate of these mats as well.
Don’t forget about the (possibly) huge explosion of gold that will hit from people earning their achievement rewards all at once. This will be an interesting day indeed.
Too bad food isn’t in there. As it stands, a cook can’t make any profit off of anything due to outrageous supply, and low demand.
I wish the spirits didn’t have internal cooldowns on their effects…
And that they weren’t so squishy.
And that they would follow you, regardless of trait selection.
And that the storm spirit had a better passive.
Keep in mind that they do have awesome stuff planned, and they are keeping the “quality over quantity” prospect in mind, but they have multiple teams working on different things. There are teams working on the quality side of the spectrum. But we haven’t seen what they have got going yet, because, well, “quality over quantity.” The rest we’ve been experiencing is, in a way, for some people, filler.
What about “sprinting”, another way to spend endurance?
Maibe this increase speed by 50% but consumes endurance at about 25% per second?
That could tie in to performing power slides. Which would look awesome in this supposed racing minigame coming up.
I saw a preview. It’s somewhat near to Rata Sum (East-ish I think).
Well it was just idea, even if they made it so you could remove conditions when used, that would be allot more effective. It opens up better might stacking builds for both SPvP and WvW, giving power builds that punch they really needed.
Currently our power builds just don’t cut it in terms of direct damage. But if we could might stack allot better would bring us closer to other classes in terms of power builds and it wouldn’t throw the meta out.
Also I wouldn’t have it xfer the conditions to the pet. If it was passive remove.
E.g. you would have the Signet Heal (Remove’s Conditions on Heal) + Signet of Renewal, this would open up more options like. 30/20/0/20/0 builds giving us the option to trait into dodge condition remove + heal condition remove and having the hard signet condition remove.
It would help make melee burst build more viable.
I wish we had a signet trait similar to that of the Necromancer.
For us, we have 2 traits (not including signet of the beastmaster) that modify signets; One that reduces cooldown by 20%, and one that grants 3 stacks of might on activation for 5 seconds.
Necromancers, on the other hand, have but one trait; this trait reduces cooldown on signets by 20% and grants 3 stacks of might for 10 seconds.
I admit it. I’m jelly.
I agree. I don’t have a legendary yet, but when I do get one, I want this freedom. +1
I want to hear A-net’s general opinion of this.
This should be self-evident since the first combination many/most/dare I say all rangers would think of with just the pet would be to fear someone, chain kd them twice, and then immobilize (or chill) the target reliably on demand. Rangers could even throw two back to back stuns depending on the weapon choices (though I admit this is rather unlikely) and finish it with yet another immobilize (or chill) depending on utilities. You should get the gist of it even though what I stated may not be optimal (instead of two canines, it might be a wolf/drake or whatever.) I’m also pretending that the cripples were used to help the pet skills land etc.
Even if you were to present this as “optional”, in effect, it would be end up being required for the class just as the devs are worried about since players would expect all rangers to do this or play another class if they don’t. This doesn’t even take in account the possible overall strength of some pet skill chains. I’m not against the idea but I can see where the devs are coming from on this particular issue. There’s definitely a lot that needs to be looked at if this were to make it in.
Yeah, I guess that makes sense.
As long as A-net improves upon the current broken pets, and adds more options to the pet management window, then that should be a start.
I just posted a possible solution to this.
Well, part of the solution, really.
Add options for pet UI or use adjustments/changes in the ‘pet management’ window. That way, new players will be able to start with the current, passive pet format, but veteran players will have the option to utilize a more advanced play-style. The idea of adding options to the pet management window could solve several problems, really — not just control issues.
(ps: the background art for the Wilderness Survival and Beastmastery traitlines is still swapped)
Yes. Oh A-net please yes. I need a white quiver for my ranger.
And a Zoo or something to sell or give away extra mini-pets for laurels or gold. Because as it stands, I have over 20 risen priests of balth. and nothing to do with them.
Interesting. I’m not sure what route A-net will take with longbow, but this would be interesting to try out.
The argument that says “Mesmer portals should be allowed in jumping puzzles, because without them, people who can’t jump or don’t want to jump won’t be able to get the reward” just sounds silly to me. Because, you see, that’s the point. A player shouldn’t be able to get a reward for something he or she didn’t do. The essence of a reward is to provide payment and recompense for accomplishing and completing a task or challenge. I suppose it’s not as bad now, since the only rewards you get are an achievement and “special” (not really) shoulder exotic. But in the future, when special skins are available or any reward that says “hey, I did it! I beat that puzzle,” then we will have a problem. Because then, you won’t be able to tell the difference between those who actually struggled through the challenge, or those who had a Mesmer do it for them. On top of all this, it trivializes content.
There are a couple places that mention a “new movement” type being introduced into GW2. In the event homepage, it hints at “amazing movement skills” (“https://www.guildwars2.com/en/the-game/releases/july-09-2013/”). While in an interview with A-net, they spoke of “experiencing movement in a new way” (“http://www.guildwars2guru.com/news/1183-bazaar-of-the-four-winds/”).
I’m not sure exactly what to expect, or how far this will go. Maybe it’s just a thing in a mini-game? Or maybe they are introducing a new movement to some skills? Who knows. If it is something like the later, it will be interesting to see where this goes — lol, unintentional pun.
I’ve experienced loads of success with this build. Not only can it bunker pretty decently on it’s own, but it scales with team fights (defensively, anyways).
(edited by Razor.9872)
I like this idea, and I would definitely like to give the concept a test run. +1
So, was PvPing earlier today and i gotta say, there is no way in hell the spirits health is only 8k, Enemy spirit ranger was not only dealing ~3k off of his storm spirit and 2.4k off of his sun spirit actives but those kitteners were taking hits like champions, and i was dealing no less than 1k per hit, they had to have at least 10-13k health (he obviously had the traits to boost them).
I know he said he was wearing Carrion Gear, so either spirits got a stealth buff to health, those above numbers are false, or they scale off of our vitality. I think i may bust out my spirit build once more…
I wonder what his build is…
Lol, I actually was complimented on my timing with a self rez.
But, really, are the achievements really “achievements” if they’re all easy to get? I would imagine one or two of them should actually be hard.
I like most of the changes, but the one that shocks me is ranger. They utterly destroyed the class, which wasn’t great even before this epic nerf.
LOL they increased our bow damage and nerfed pets a tiny bit, sorry but I love the patch with my Ranger.
Yeah…“A tiny bit”….
Like, 27% for an auto attack is “a tiny bit.”
Like, 50% for a 20sec cooldown skill is “a tiny bit”
You must understand, Rangers are the only profession who suffers through stat drop due to their main mechanic; a vast chunk of a Ranger’s DPS is nerfed to be replaced with our pet. Which, by the way, is often only capable of attacking one target at a time, and only if that target isn’t moving. Now that our pet’s attacks are being nerfed so greatly, the few attacks we can get with a pet in a fight have been…yuck.
The LB boost was nice, but they also made quickness on pet swapping non-existant unless traited heavily in beastmastery (which, btw, still has a trait background art mixed up with the wilderness survival line) — making it not worth the opportunity cost.
Rangers don’t have any stability either, really :<
So don’t feel too alone.
