Hounds of balth. Are pretty OP for racials…
Pfff! CoF is too mainstream. I run HotW and CoF. Sometimes TA.
Oh! Is so easy, you must go for a…
learn how to play your class. You really need to learn how to be a person, not a monster.
We have enough monsters in the game without seeing them in the players as well.
If you have nothing nice to say or nothing to contribute, please keep your mouth shut.
Dude. Chill. He didn’t mean anything in a bad way. He was just getting his point across with a hint of sarcasm. There was never any insulting going on.
Ha! I double dare you or anyone to buy a legendary through gems→ gold. And as for farming CoF, what’s wrong with thay again? I Mean, I don’t do it myself, but I don’t see how it’s “cheating” in any way.
Yeah, I knew that. But I didn’t feel like making any commitment to details.
A Charr lumber specialist in…Diessa Plateau, I think?
“How much wood could a fahrar charr tar, if a fahrar charr could tar wood?”
I cracked up when I read that.
It would be nice to have an “open all” button for those…troublesome moments. For example, when tasked with opening 678 orrian jewelry boxes, I would much rather click an “open all” button than be tasked with double-clicking my finger off. Not to mention re-drinking the drops of karma you get from those boxes, re-buying the boxes, repeat…
Have 68 loot bags? Open all button has your back.
On the topic of orrian jewelry boxes, with all the extra risen priests one can get from them, wouldn’t it be nice to be able to trade extra mini-pets to a carnival/zoo collector in exchange for laurels? That would be nice.
A-net needs to add an option to trade in extra mini’s for laurels…
I’m not too familiar with the ebb and flow of Darkhaven myself, so I couldn’t tell you where to look. However, I will say that most of the zones will be empty. This is not due to the servers themselves being empty — oh no, far from it — but, most people are either running dungeons, running WvW, tagging world bosses, or running Orr. While you will find the occasional wanderer in mid-leveled zones, don’t expect large groups. If it helps at all, try to find a good PvE guild with people who would be willing to adventure with you. If all else fails, you could consider a server transfer (although, other servers wouldn’t be too much different), or you can just guest to whichever server you feel like for the moment. On a side note: Lion’s Arch has the most people on average.
I’m planning on saving my super greatsword skin for 2 years — maybe more. Then I’ll wave my pretty skin around on the market and be like “hey guys…guess what I’ve still got? And I’m selling it…”
Hmm. I agree with point 1. But not fully with point 2.
First of all, what server are you on? Some servers are more focused on WvW then PvE. And second, use: gw2lfg.com to find people for dungeons. That’s where all the dungeon-runners are.
It would be cool (and hilariously awesome) if A-net could make it so, if enough players of the same race sync their dances next to each-other with — /dance *, then the music for that specific dance would start playing in their area for all to hear. In other words, if 20-30 humans were to start shuffle’n, the music from the song would be audible near them.
The background arts for the Wilderness Survival and Beast Mastery trait-lines need to be swapped. WS has animals and pets, while BM has a survivalist backpack and compass. It’s a minor issue, I know, but it would be nice to drop into an upcoming patch. It’s been bugging me since BWE1.
I would prefer that a Ranger’s mainhand dagger to be built around critical hits (kinda like a thief), and for it to be melee only.
(edited by Razor.9872)
Does anyone know the RNG rate for these two items? I remember A-net gave us the RNG for the super skins a while back (they were 1/50). If I knew the RNG I could better decide if I want to dedicate my time to this dungeon.
I say they should keep them. They add more build variety to all professions.
You here this A-net? This is what pets need.
I run a healing/spirit build in sPvP, and I have to say: in Raid on the Capricorn on the Ruin point…I AM —--ing POSEIDON! You can’t touch this. :P
I suppose, to make it fair, A-net should make pets stop healing when they’re dead.
For a more “advanced” skill in the skill tree, it doesn’t do much does it? :\
Just wait for Guild Challenge and Guild Puzzle…
Although the Ranger needs a ton of love, I think it’s a better, deeper profession than most people realize. It can still be incredibly viable when played right.
Customization is good.
In the end, it all comes down to the pet and its relationship to the Ranger. Although I can’t deny the handicap the pet puts on the player during zerg situations, my experience tells me that using the pet as an AoE condition (or boon for allies) applier while picking one target at a time will often lead me to success. Furthermore, the Barrage ability for the longbow not only applies mass, over-time AoE cripple, but it serves as a “zerg pusher” too. Since enemies rarely want to stay in a circle — no matter how weak it is.
If you still disagree with me, then I guess we should just let bygones be bygones, because I don’t have any more points to argue. Honestly, I think A-net should focus on making the Ranger’s Shouts and spirits more viable. Right now, they’re even more worse off than our pets. Not to mention the torch…you would think * Bonfire* would have a larger diameter. Right now, It’s more of a puddle that enemies can walk around rather than a circle of deadly flame that they would try to escape.
Juckums, I 2v1 all the time in WvW with my Ranger and win. I capture camps by myself, and hammer on zergs with a longbow. I’m not fully sure where you’re coming from.
Every time someone says a class is bad, or in any way not equal to the rest, you will get a forum warrior come in, declaring he can solo zergs, etc, etc.
I’m sure you can 2v1 effectively, and honestly, soloing a camp is no big feat. Any profession in the game can handle a bunch of NPC AI. In fact, a good player can make any class appear up to the standards of the other, simply more well-designed classes. None of the above invalidates my point. The Ranger is easily one of the worst WvW classes. Does that mean it’s not viable? No. Does that mean players cannot handle themselves with said profession? No. But, again, none of that changes the fact that the Ranger is largely dependent on a mechanic that gets completely obliterated by AoE in WvW zerg situations. No other class in the game is as dependent on its profession mechanic as the Ranger is, and considering the Ranger’s class mechanic is a bad AI that has no added resistance to AoE or the ability to dodge, I don’t see how you can argue that the Ranger isn’t beneath the other professions, as far as WvW is concerned.
As for the “hammer on zergs with a longbow” comment; sure, that’s viable if you go full glass cannon (which is still pretty much all glass and no cannon), which will get you downed in seconds in a 1v1 scenario against a good player that’s not playing an equally as mediocre build as your own. A LB Ranger is still going to be inferior to an Ele, Mesmer, Guardian, Necro, or Engineer in a zerg situation. A large chunk of their damage comes from their pet, which is, as we’ve established, borderline useless in large group scenarios. Then we have the LB, which is one of the most laughably easy-to-evade weapons in the game, particularly at long range (which is somewhat self-defeating of the weapon’s purpose considering its damage output is dependent on how far away you are from your target). A simple side-strafe is enough to dodge its arrows due to slow RoF.
“Every time someone says a class is bad, or in any way not equal to the rest, you will get a forum warrior come in, declaring he can solo zergs, etc, etc.”
Lol, yep, that’s me: the “Forum warrior.” I like the sound of it…
Anyway, while I understand your point, and partially agree, I still think you’re missing part of the picture. Yes, it is true that pets are pretty much a walking house of cards when they enter zerg AoE. So to send them directly into them solely for attack purposes is idiotic. This is why I only send them in to use their F2 skill (I use an alpine wolf and polar bear for the AoE chill). If they are about to die before they can pull it off, then a quick swap will save them.
Don’t get me wrong, I am also aware of the “damage division” between Rangers and their pets so they don’t become too op — and that, without the pet in action, the ranger’s attack power alone is less than adequate. While this should be an interesting problem for A-net to solve in the future, for now I just stay “selective.” By this I mean I pick out the stragglers, or squishy looking foes. Even though I’m spec’ed for toughness and regen, I’m also pretty decent in power (1900). I can get around 600-1100 damage a hit. I don’t expect this to do anything to armored foes, but glassy invaders fall pretty fast. By acting as the “chiseler,” per se, I can play my part in weakening the zerg as much as possible while others focus on the main body. Furthermore, I think the ranger has the best “selective” skills to do this. Since most of the bows skills are built for the purpose of single-target hitting. I’ve played other professions before — all lvl 80 — but never did I feel at a disadvantage when coming back to the ranger. Sure, I had to alter my play-style, but that’s to be expected.
If you still disagree with me, whether it be something I mistook or a thing I exaggerated, then perhaps it’s a fault on our part as well as the profession. By this I mean, maybe, the Ranger just simply isn’t cut out to combat zergs? Maybe they’re better than other professions at other things in WvW. They make great “siegers” for one — quickly taking down oil, cannons, and wall guards. What I’m trying to say is: while I agree the Ranger needs some serious work, I don’t think it’s as bad as you say it is when it comes to WvW.
LB has a longer learning curve than SB. You don’t use LB for its auto, but rather ints 2-5 skills starting with the 3rd. I prefer it over the shortbow, really. It has more…more…manipulation.
Should use guildhead.
I’ve run a variation of this build for several months now (LB instead of GS, QZ instead of MT, and 6 Sup. Ruines of the Dolyak. And the evades + the regen + the toughness is amazing to duel with. I’ve conqured 2v1’s and 3v1’s before. It’s all about timing those evades, and the order of skills used.
While it may sound somewhat OCD of me to be saying this in the mix of all the other fixes needed by Rangers, I just want to say again: the background art for the Wilderness Survival and Beast Mastery traitlines should be swapped. It’s been bugging me since BWE1. WS has pet and animals, while BM has survival gear and a compass. Shouldn’t be TOO hard to fix. :P
Seriously, sometimes I feel like I’m one of the only rangers who doesn’t have problems killing things. Sure there are invisi-thieves, but they still can’t kill me, we just lol into a stalemate. I run a sorta hybrid/tanky Sword/dagger-LB ranger spected for power/toughness/vitality, but with decent amounts of critical, healing, and condition damage. With all the evades + all my regen, I’m almost untouchable.
Juckums, I 2v1 all the time in WvW with my Ranger and win. I capture camps by myself, and hammer on zergs with a longbow. I’m not fully sure where you’re coming from.
I want to change the color of my quiver…brown looks ugly on a white ranger.
ANYTHING to make spirits (and expecially shouts) more viable for Rangers…
Greatsword price just jumped from 39 gold to 64 in a day O_0
They were added to the normal box o’ fun a while back. No worries. They won’t be going away.

Does this mean that when the dye packs go away, so will the special dyes? Forever?
With the recent dye packs that have popped up on the gem store, there are 12 new dyes that were also added to boot. Six for “frost” and six for “flame.” Here:
<https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/red-hot-new-items-in-the-gem-store-now/>
It says that the dyes are “exclusive flame or frost colors.” Does this mean that the colors are only accessible through the gem-bought dye packs for a limited time? Or by “exclusive” do they just mean new? Meaning they can they still be picked up in unidentified dyes at a later time?

I want to make the “Frozen” weapons but I have no idea what the recipes for them are. Could anyone let me know what I need to make them, please?
(I’ve tried looking the recipes up, but no one seems to know exactly how to do it)
I actually love The Howlet just the way it is.
Yes. I don’t know if this is a glitch, or on purpose.
I was hoping Ranger hammers would add “boon-hate” to the ranger’s skillset. Give us something to counter all those boon heavy builds out there. cough shout-guardian cough
(edited by Razor.9872)
Let me take a stab at them…see how “easy” rangers are after they’re foaming at the mouth with poison…
With the addition of ascended back items, I’ve really wanted to wear a quiver. But, with a white, ice-themed norn, a leather/brown quiver would just look out-of-place. Please add the ability to change the colors to back slot items (or at least some of them).
Also, on a side note: when I hover over the damaged/broken orange shield below my health bubble, there is no icon for back pieces. So while they can be damaged/broken, I can’t know unless I look in the hero’s screen. Adding a backpiece icon along with the armor layout would be nice.
Does team score effect anything? Such as skin drop rates from chests? Or is it just fun to have? Because from the stories I’ve heard, people seem to get better skin drop rates from chests when they have a high team score.
While I know SAB can be played with anywhere from 1-5 people, I’m curious to know: do the amount of baubles (in the world/chests) increase if you have more people? Or does it have no effect? Are some areas “unlocked” with a group? Or is everything open? Would be nice if A-net could confirm the details of this.
Yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes.
Yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes.
Game Over
It’s a bit of whimsy at best. The world has moved on from 8bit graphics and zelda, making this a permanent feature of GW2 would be a waste that people will eventually get tired of, especially staring at those graphics for too long.
It’s like when someone brings out a bit of music that has a strong classical element to it. It’s refreshing and unusual at first but you won’t be seeing it make a come back to the charts. This can be said about a lot of things, it’s not really a good argument against it. People will get bored of Kegbrawl, PvP, Dungeons, Fractals, you name it. Something like this is just a bit of fun which you can jump into when you fancy something different. Making it temporary will force people to rush through it as quick as possible until it’s all done and not enjoy it at their leisure.
If you feel you will get bored of it then that’s fine, you are not forced to play it. But I fail to see why others should not be allowed to carry on playing it just because you’ve got bored of it.
The original question is a poll for stay or go and why. If the OP didn’t want people to say why people thought the way they did the question shouldn’t have been asked. You and I disagree on this topic – that’s fine, that’s what polls are for. I’m not arguing against your point of view, you are perfectly entitled to have an opinion that is different to mine, so why are you saying I’m wrong for disagreeing with you?
He/She’s not necessarily saying you’re dead wrong, but rather bringing up a valid counter-claim to your reasoning. Its intention is to give you another perspective, or scrap of logic that could possibly get you to think “huh, that is a good point…” If, however, you have an equally good counter-counter-claim, then speak it out. There’s no harm in debate, as long as it stays reasonable and at a mature, responsible level. He/She had no intention of provoking you or ruffling your feathers. When he/she said
I fail to see why others should not be allowed to carry on playing it just because you’ve got bored of it.
He/She was, again, simply confused with your reasoning — and is, in a round-about way, asking you to explain yours. You don’t have to, but doing so would provide a better view of the opposing ideologies, and allow others to form or modify their own opinions while looking at a bigger picture.
May Raven guide you.
