Curiously enough, the best farming zones are in the 40-60 level range, and I have a couple very profitable ones in the lower zones too.
I laugh at people who think they are stuck with Cursed Shore, GW was always about the world and not the map lvl maps.

Not really, bots can easily automate quests already.
Actually, it’s much easier to automate a quest, to automate events RMTs just put their bots near the place and set them to attack and kill anything that moves.

This way it’s much easier to spot a bot.

The OP is a great post.

I’m not sure how wow players don’t realize they’re being treated as cows to milk, using all the shadiest marketing strategies to pretty much force them to continue paying, paying, and paying again.
The game’s new content beyond vanilla is just a clone of the previous, new gear treadmills and that’s about it.
And it is even outclassed in its own genre by Rift, the only reason one would play wow would be if he was too tied to his invested time and money and/or lured by blizz’s market strategies.
From an adult point of view, it’s a cartoony, simple game for kids that’s been turned into a mental chain to keep people playing.

Glad to hear some people like the OP made it out of it.

How long should a developer be given to get launch bugs ironed out?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Red Falcon.8257

Red Falcon.8257

Devs are working a lot more than a normal worker, they shouldn’t damage their health just because some kids have too much time on their hands.
Whatever time is needed is ok, if you buy games at launch you have to expect a couple months of bugs at least.

Anet is catering to long-term players anyways, not people who will quit at the least sign of bugs or lack of slavery camps aka forced endgame grinds.

The best way to get bugs fixed sooner is reporting them, and doing it in the most exhaustive, detailed way.

To me, story, combat (including no trinity etc), landscapes, and UI are the strongest points.

These to me are mere requirements for a game to be played by an adult.
Me and my friends are heading toward the 30s and we all can’t touch a game with static combat or poor graphics / clunky UI, it’s really something of the early 2000s that we got really fed up with.

10 things that GW2 did better than WoW

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Red Falcon.8257

I respect your opinion but I wouldn’t venture so far as to say they’re completely different games. Just like how WoW took the best aspects of Everquest and made a more streamlined game, GW2 also takes some of WoW’s best features and improves on them. I know, my post was really long but I’m hoping you didn’t just judge it by the title.

I read your post and I agree with your points, but it’s detrimental to continually make comparisons between GW2 and traditional MMOs or their features.
Comparisons imply both parties have some values, GW2 stands out by itself without needing to compare this game to theme park slavery camps.

There will be always people think those are flaws and those who think they are improvements.
Infact you got a post above from a wow fanboy doing exactly this.

Just forget the outdated, stale theme parks who enslave players into repetitional content for illusionary rewards, they are like the lottery; it’s not a game but an addiction system to draw people in and milk sub money out of them regardless of the consequences on the person.

People are just back at gaming and doing away with working and being enslaved, it’s time to stop looking back and sail forward, looking at the future.

They posted that they will release a large amount of free content.

Still, it is not necessary yet if you don’t play the game like a traditional MMO but as it is meant to be played.
They also said the majority does not rush content but enjoys the game.

GW and GW2 are games for laid back people, not for those obsessively compulsively burning contents, not caring about landscapes/lore/wvw/pvp etc.
It simply cannot be played that way.

I prefer that they fix the game to a stable stadius, and then proceed to release new content.

I’m getting tired of hearing GW2 being compared to WoW, regardless if positively or negatively.
Just because GW2 is now an MMO it doesn’t meant it compares to WoW, it’s a completely different game based on other things.

Taking WoW or any other traditional MMO in a discussion about GW2 means not having understood GW2 to begin with.

Huh? I go into WvW specced into shout heals, and I tank a lot. I’m in the front lines swinging my axe and blowing my warhorn.
I actually dont use Endure pain anymore, because you can still take a lot of damage with it. It also has a 90 second recharge. 90! thats forever in a battle, I’d rather have a 2k heal every 25 seconds that buffs allies.

Sorry I should have stated I’m talking about PvE here.
In WvW it’s ok as you buff all allies, but I really don’t want to hear a Warrior saying he can tank dungeons with shouts. Please.

in Warrior

Red Falcon.8257

I’m tired of meeting shout Warriors thinking they are Guardians with 100B.
This trend reminds me a lot of GW1 Wammo.

The shout healing build:
- Is not a “survivability” build. Healing is the worst form of survivability, especially when in such low amounts. This is a support build to heal and buff your team, period.
- It does not make you a “tank”. Most stuff at 80 will hit you for as much as a shout can heal, anything non-trash will hit you for 10 shouts worth of heals. Tanking means preventing damage, aka Aegis/Blind/Evade/Protection which Warriors completely lack.
- It does not make you a “paladin”. Absurd at the very least.

A Warrior is meant to deal high damage while surviving enough to get out of trouble, it isn’t a tanky class by any means.
If you think so you’re not 80 or you haven’t tried any semi-serious content.

So here is the deal, Warriors should stop this trend on mocking the Greatsword builds (which is your best DPS/burst) and running around with full defense setups.
You don’t have to worry about your survivability, others will buff/heal/protect you.
Warriors need to deal damage.

The best way a Warrior has to stay alive is Endure Pain and Defy Pain, not heals.
Because preventing dozens thousands of damage while dealing tremendous DPS is the role of the Warrior, not trying to be a GW1 Wammo.

If you spec into shout heals you’re a great support character but don’t remotely believe that makes you able to tank anything.

Thank you.

These discussions are simply false and don’t translate to reality.
All classes have a gimmick build that’s easy to play with and other, greater builds that require micromanagement and skill. This is a fact.

Examples:
- Warrior’s Mace/Hammer stunlock
- Ranger’s sword/torch condition
- Thief conditions builds

Name a class you think requires more skill and I’ll find you a build that an 8 year old kid can be decent with.
Name a class you think is easy to play and I’ll find you a great build that require skill and management.

Quit dismissing as easy classes you can’t play properly but only know their easiest setup.
It’s the most prominent admission that you are a bad.

Outstanding considerations, OP.

To add onto those facts, there is also to say that people get attached to their investments.
I.E. they will be unwilling to drop a game where they dropped 1 or more years worth of monthly fees for a new one.
I thin most of the complaints are just people trying to convince themselves GW2 is bad so they can go back to the game they invested in without feeling guilty they’re playing trash.
They brainwash themselves that everything else is worse than the poorly designed grindfest treadmill they have invested in.

Noticed feedback is bolded? These are just baby cries and drama, not feedback.

Help on Unkillable Warrior/Non-Support

Red Falcon.8257

Hey OP,

I have a lvl 80 Guardian and a lvl 80 Warrior.
At the cost of sounding rude I’m going to be honest and say 90% of the above posts are bad advices/misconceptions and some trolling (lol @ the guy "I can tank 10 mobs and 847 champions while afk).

Guardian has largely better survivability than Warrior and this is out of question, unless you are a complete disaster, woefully bad at playing the Guardian.
Guardian gets protection, aegis, blinds.
It’s cycling those damage negation skills that keep you alive for extended periods, along with the massive healing.

On a Warrior you can delay death a bit on a shout build with blood sigils, adren health, full adren surge and defy pain, but you’re just struggling in between surge cooldowns.
As a Warrior you’re MUCH better off being very mobile, cycle DPS while dodging damage and timing your shield block well.
Kill things before the damage taken outplays your defenses.

Things hit you for 1k+ in endgame, Guardian can prevent that damage and slowly kill everyone, Warrior can kill them before the damage depletes his health completely but it’s not a guaranteed.

We have plans, and we’ll be commenting on them very soon. I wish I could have a “no promises being made” thread where we talk about things, but the unfortunate aspect of a dev revealing plans and intentions is that in itself is a promise. And we may say something, build it, try it, and then iterate on it to the point it is not what we said, and that tarnishes credibility we had in claiming something, even though the system it became might be measurably better. The danger is in systems that change that aren’t easily measured as better or worse, that are different from our initial assertions and expectations.

Those are indeed good reasons.

If you lack communications players complain, but if you talk too much players will use your words against you.
There is no winning beside maybe letting out informations that are confirmed to be happening soon.

Healing Signet or Mending Surge

in Warrior

Posted by: Red Falcon.8257

Red Falcon.8257

Per-second maths are worthless when talking about healing skills.
Heals are used once per fight, so the only thing that matters is how much they heal in the burst.
Surge gives you 3k more health allowing you to take 3k more damage before dying than you would with Mending.

Condition removal shouldn’t be something you give to your healing skill, just get shake it off, the passive, or soldier rune.

They wont play anymore.

Design flaw on Dual skills of P/P & D/D

I meant Unload should be condition based since Pistols are for condition builds.
Similarly, DB should be a direct damage skill since Daggers are for direct damage builds.

Design flaw on Dual skills of P/P & D/D

in Suggestions

Posted by: Red Falcon.8257

Red Falcon.8257

D/D is a full direct damage set, and a player needs to spec into Pow/Crit to get the benefit.
Yet DB is a condition damage skill that gets no benefit from the build.

P/P is naturally a condition set so players will spec into condition damage, yet the dual skill is a direct damage skill that gets no benefit from condition builds.

Basically D/D and P/P players have no reason to hit 3 at all unless they want to impair their damage.

Is this being worked on?

Majority of Dual skills need a redesign

in Thief

Posted by: Red Falcon.8257

Red Falcon.8257

You got the main issue right.
D/D is direct damage and should not have a condition-based dual skill, similarly P/P should stack conditions.
DB and Unload basically need their effects swapped to be viable with their weapon’s playstyle.

I hope to hear devs on this too.

You’re not understanding the reasons behind the health differences.

Relying health pool is the worst possible way of playing GW2.

Ele has low health pool because he’s got the range advantage, kiting tools, pets, etc.
If we give Eles high health pool and remove his tools he’ll be much weaker.
