Is it considered ok to make a gaming mouse macro that casts 2-3 skills?
I.E. when I click mouse button 12 it uses Signet of Rage and For Great Justice.
I’m a bit afraid to use my gaming mouse’s features, I feel you might consider it botting so I prefer to ask here and wait for answers to avoid getting surprises.
Anet said it’s ok to speak whatever language in the chats so you gotta deal with it.
So flaming someone for doing something that doesn’t break the rules can be considered harassment and a bannable behavior.
This is the only thing that matters.
I personally speak English mostly but when I see a French/Italian/Spanish person who posts in their language I reply in their language.
When I see languages I don’t know I actually get curious about it, trying to understand what language that is and somehow liking people from so many cultures share GW2.
While I agree that if we all spoke one language it would be a big step forward for humanity – that doesn’t mean this should be enforced, nor that English should be that language.
I feel English is too simple and fails to forward some concepts or emotions that other languages do better, so if I’m to expose soemthing deep like a poem I’ll pick Italian or French, if I want to impress a girl I use Spanish.
I feel bad for people who’s locked into English and can’t appreciate the sound of other languages.
Italian here.
I feel people are entitled to make guild advertisement in their own language in order to attract others from the same country, but should refrain from spammy chatter in a specific language, because if we all do that it’s going to be a pain for everyone.
Honestly tho, I still believe that if you don’t speak 3-4 languages in 2012 you better turn off your computer and get some education.
Arena Net places some placeholder barriers while they make proper fixes.
It’s not “knee-jerk reaction”, it’s tempestively stopping exploits before it’s too late while they develop a proper response.
It’s what devs should do in general instead of letting people exploit for months and then “uh, we fixed that bug everyone got rich with, everyone starting to play now will be a joke”
I see we all agree on the necessity for increased difficulty and more reward.
Anet could really turn these fights into something really enjoyable for endgame pve guilds, perhaps they will see this and do something.
They are raids like L2 Baium, Valakas, etc.
Just because you call raids only what Blizz calls raids it doesn’t make them any less raids.
It’s like saying a car is not a car because it’s in the open streets instead of closed into a garage.
The reason for the traditional “end game” is to keep players playing it. It all boils down to money. The companies that make these games need to make money to keep making games (or tending to their current games). Without anythign to strive for at the so called “end” of a game (which in all honesty should be refered to has the beginning of the game) the game slowly fizzles and dies. Thats why noone has even came close to competeing with wow as far as subscribers and overall gross income.
In standard business you normally copy business plans that are succesful, not completely contradict them.
GW2 has some nice concepts but they were poorly executed. Its like you beat the game the day you bought it in a sense. You claim that endgame is map completion but thats kinda a** backwards because im already 50% complete by the time I hit 80.
Without and “endgame” and without appealing to the mass consumer base this game is on a road to failure like most other mmos.
Then explain how GW1 has been going strong for 7 years without any power progression beyond lvl 20 / Droks gear.
All those tinfoil hat theories fall flat on their face when meeting reality.
GW2 is not required to lock players into itself being a B2P game.
It’s like saying Skyrim fails because there is nothing glueing you to the game forever and thus people won’t buy Dawnguard and further expansions.
I think people believe that since GW2 allows for multiplayer content like a MMO then it must face the issues that other MMOs meet – even though the game is still a B2P format and caters to a different audience than them – the classic B2P audience that completes a game and then waits for expansions to play again – or replay the game in different ways.
I’m just curious to see for how much time people is going to drag this misconception before they understand this.
Fyren so you’re basically asking for harder difficulty on raids, I agree with that.
I feel bosses should require a well-coordinate team with all the combo fields, reflections and shields up.
Still, content is there, just need to be tweaked in difficulty.
When I read “Gw2 has no raids” it makes my head spin.
Just out the top of my head I can name 11 raids:
- Shatterer
- Jormag
- Tequatl
- Shadow Behemot
- Draithor / Ulgoth
- Fire elemental
- Giant Wyrm
- Megadestroyer
- Priestess of Grenth
- Champion of Jormag
- Giant Corrupted Jungle Worm
Anet had done raids in the form of world raids in NcSoft style rather than instanced ones like Blizzard, but they aren’t any less of a raid.
I’m not sure why some expected Anet to copy Blizz raid style when their cousins at NcSoft made a successful raid system that’s been kicking since 2003.
Other players don’t care about your “principles”, players can and will spec into CC just as they do any other game.
If you sit there for 3 full seconds getting HB in your face it’s your own problem, not the game’s or the players’.
If you don’t feel anti-CC should be mandatory for PvP then I don’t even know what other MMO to redirect you to since all of them rely on control for PvP.
There is no such thing as a “community issue”. As a developer, it is your job to satisfy your customers. If your customers aren’t satisfied, you can cry all you want and tell them, “But you’re doing it wrong!” It won’t change the reality that you’ve failed to satisfy your customers.
Regina stated the majority are not content burners or carrot chasers and are happy with how the game is.
Their target customers -are- happy.
It’s just the non-target customers who still bought GW2 despite Anet writing in cubital letters that this game is not for them that are unhappy.
Microsoft isn’t going to make their PC become a Mac clone simply because some people like Mac features more; those people are not Microsoft’s target audience.
And no one is saying the game is perfect, but to this target audience the game is a masterpiece and only needs bugfixing/balancing currently, not radical changes.

Thank you a lot.
I’m quitting too because I only spent 800 hours in the game (playing 24/7 on ritalin) and there is nothing to do.
Why there is no cave I can be locked in for months to chase gear that’ll be outdated in 3 months?
How about inspect, mounts and dueling, and also pandas and barbies?
Why can’t I steal other people’s loots and nodes?
And what’s this thing the game wants me to have fun etc, are you kidding me?? Give me akittenjob to work on. Possibly repetitive and based on some gimmicky trinity scheme.
I want automatic dodge and block like in wow. Why do I have to do it manually?
Also, fetch quests need to come back.
This game is enforcing fun on a format that’s based on working and repeating, it should be banned from humanity.
goes to buy MoP
It’s either Knight or Pow/Vit/Tou (forgot the name) for me.
I did tests, and by removing Knight’s armor set completely I only lose 10% crit.
That’s not a lot when compared to the major advantages of Vit and Tou.
The major issue that WP costs create is that they make you unwilling to travel around the map playing with others.
Sometimes I have to tell my gf or friends to play a bit on their own so I can farm silvers to amortize WP costs for playing with them.
I’m farming just to play with my friends.
Also, Anet pushes us to vary our content a lot, which I’m very happy with, but this is just not viable unless you want to spend hours running across maps.
I have good faith in them tho, I’m sure they will realize what WP costs cause and move that gold sink in another, more appropriate sector.
It’s all about your build honestly.
I hear a lot of “Ele is a mage and thus squishy and weak”.
Then I see my gf running with water attunement and lighting hammer tanking 5 mobs and melt them like flies in seconds while barely getting to half health.
Any character can become completely different depending on how you build it, this game is not profession based, it’s build based.
Some people will probably never get to understand this, especially those new to the GW system.
It’s not like Anet hasn’t done a lot of effort to let everyone know this, though.
The issue is that while you can take a player out of WoW, you can’t take WoW out of the player.
Many are playing GW2 like a standard MMO and having all sorts of issues, but it’s really just a lack of understanding on their part.
There have been redposts stating we’ll get “a lot of free content”.
I speculate it will be more zones, more dungeons, more DEs, but we really don’t know for sure.
This is only an issue for people who care about illusionary progression (gear treadmill) and uses MMOs as a “job”.
I’ll go ahead and say that there are much better MMOs for enslaving people into caves with an illusionary carrot to chase while milking money out of them, GW2 is not oriented to these people.
Just like GW1 the PvE is based on getting cool skins and having fun; it’s been a winning formula for GW1 and still is in GW2.
This might surprise you but millions of people played GW1 for 7 years straight without the least shadow of gear treadmill; and those millions are the same that are playing GW2 now, plus other people who were tired of carrot-based MMOs.
So ultimately, you either re-learn to play for fun (in Super Mario I didn’t chase +1 jump shoes, I had fun period!) or move to a MMO that locks you into repeating content so you have the illusion that you’re achieving something.
At lvl 80 we have the following options for PvE, OP:
- 8 dungeons with 3 paths each.
- many different raid-like DEs in Orr.
- raiding world bosses.
- crafting.
- going back to experience content (I went in Harati today with some lowbie friends, tons of fun)
I feel there is enough PvE content for a launch, especially considering we have a lot of free content incoming.
When you think of other MMOs where people are farming the exact same raid over and over for months, GW2 gives a lot more variety.
You aren’t doing the same thing over and over.
The only issue is that waypoint costs impair the ability to quickly swap between different activities.
I’d like to see gold sink moved away from teleporting because it really goes against the core formula of GW2.
Go have fun OP
Sorry OP but you’re bad.
People aren’t laughing at you because you’re a Guardian, but because you’re bad.
I use this: http://gw2skills.net/editor/en/?fUAQNAR8dlYgiCnESIEgYFRuArHE8g+rqQ8wUgxMeLA
Never had a problem on the field.
Swiftness, leap, teleport, knockdown, immob, tome > lolkiting.
As for people on walls I carry arrow carts and blow them up.

Any idea how to get this?
[quote=226154;Birdy.4816:]
I agree WPs are too high at lvl 80, 100% explore should at least halve those costs.
It’s an addictive game style, honestly.
Indeed.
It’s a constant battle with buying time to use your tools again while you roll around the battlefield saving the day.
I think they nailed the Guardian very well.
It’s no secret Guardian have trait issues, Zeal being useless and most T3s being a mere nuisance.
We get 3 good builds basically, everything else being “meh”.
I believe most Guardians still need to understand and learn the class mechanics tho, so this might be queued when we get to a point where all Guards know what we need and lack.
I think you guys are playing Guardian wrong.
You’re not supposed to “tank” damage, you’re supposed to avoid it while managing your CDs to reduce dmg and replenish health.
Some bosses need to have their 1shot mechanics fixed, but beyond that I find the Guardian great at staying alive in all pve/pvp/wvw.
It’s really all about timing your defenses, dodging (thanks Vigor), moving, and managing our CDs and their cooldowns.
I use this build: http://gw2skills.net/editor/en/?fUAQNAR5elYgyCHFSPEfIFS2DRCBLJ7DEEmCMKjuFA;T8AA1ynEOJdS9kyJKwMgJAzCmDMJYLCGEsJA
Aegis needs timing (action MMO, duh) but it’s the most powerful boon in the game.
The reason I find Guardian great compared to other MMOs’ tanks is that you need to manually dodge/block/miss, it’s not some gimmick passive stat.
Your Guardian gets better as YOU get better.
First off, protection gives 33% dmg reduction which is like having 33% more health.
Second, Guardian isn’t meant to be a gimmicky passive tank based on health like other trash MMOs, you have a ton of active defenses that you need to time well.
When you get good with a Guardian you realize health has little effect, it’s all about timing/managing your defensive CDs, dodging and positioning.
You forgot activating VoC also gives protection, that helps removing the downtime.
80 Guardian, 9/10.
Great class, could use the following:
Traits: little build variety. only 2 good T3s, Zeal is useless.
Shield: too long CDs even traited.
Scepter: too slow orbs.
Shouts: need to have wider radious when traited.
This is not possible.
All characters have the same hitbox, and your “blue discs” are exactly the same as the human.
Obviously your friend is specced differently, or is doing a better job at getting inside the models to get the discs to hit the target.
Did you turn off “melee assist”? That won’t allow to go inside models.
Listen up, I’ve brought both classes to 80.
Guardian has by far – and I mean, very far – the greatest endgame potential.
Warrior is squishy no matter how you build it; on the most defensive build you deal joke damage – lower than guardian by far – and still don’t survive like a Guardian.
Warrior’s survivability can be recapped in “kill things before they kill you or die”.
They deal more damage but it doesn’t mean a lot when you’re dying.
Furthermore all their skills are meh to your team and quite boring to use, while the majority of Guardian skills are tide-turning for both you alone and the team.
Guardian is not pidgeon-holed, you play like a Warrior except your protective tools also protect your team.
It’s your team that will need to get behind your Wall of Reflection or inside your Sanctuary, if they spread too much they can’t get your defenses so they WILL follow you if they want to stay alive.
In short, Warrior is easy to deal high dps with but fails under other important aspects; if I was to need DPS I’d rather have a Ranger or a Ele.
But no one says “if I wanted defense I’d rather take X instead of a Guardian”.
Guardian is the core of a team, and great to play on solo too as not dying allows you to complete stuff instead of killing two more mobs and then die.
I believe the current anti-bot code is a placeholder.
Obviously it will need to be tweaked so that it doesn’t affect people who are playing.
I think game forums contain generally a lot more unhappy people than happy ones.
Most happy people are playing the game and only come here when they meet some issue, so they are counted as unhappy even if they are not.
Removing the forums related to bugs/issues is mandatory to get a more realistic result.
Furthermore, some nationalities don’t post in the official forums much.
I.E. I read an Italian forum where the userbase is extremely happy about the game and it counts roughly 2000 people.
You can count at most 2-3 complainers, but they are not even remotely comparable to the complainers here in terms of maturity; they complain bugs etc, not demand a wow clone.
There is also to consider some people use forums in general as a way to rant and vent frustration without consequences.
Due to the aforementioned facts, I don’t consider forum “happiness” to be of any value.
I think anyone who informed himself on GW2 reading articles etc is fine with the endgame.
People asking for different things just made an uninformed purchase, you can’t ask for baseball bats when playing golf.
What I can criticize is that the content you mentioned needs some tweaking.
- DEs need to scale better (to avoid both zerging faceroll ezmode or the opposite, forced teaming)
- Dungeons need the 1hit mechanics fixed (this “dodge check” is a great mechanic, but only if you have the time to dodge it by human reflexes standards, at least 0.5s cast and more CD are required), everything else is getting fixed according to redposts.
- World bosses such as champions should be more rewarding; I see people skipping them a lot.
Still, devs are human beings working with limited, human-built tools so it’s inevitable that it require some work and time before they get to all this.
I have major faith in their ability, and I believe us players need to do a much better job at letting them know objective issues and leaving out personal bias as much as possible.
Nothing of those grinds are mandatory tho.
I cleared Arah explo and CoF with greens on two chars.
+13% stats prolly equal to something like 5% damage and 2% damage reduction for instance.
If you think these will give you any real benefit you haven’t learned to play yet.
(edited by Red Falcon.8257)
Norn story is decent, and im really enjoying the Sylvari as well. human – too much cheese for my liking, and too many white people (im white, but white shouldnt represent humans as a culture, which it totally does in GW2). havent tried the Asuran story yet.
White skinned people are not very common at all in Tyria, they are much more common in Elona though.
For instance in Scandinavia if you see a black guy your eyes melt because it’s a terribly rare occurrency, yet in Italy (which is closer to Africa) you see many of them.
They haven’t left them out, it’s actually the lore that places the big majority of dark-skinned people in Elona, their continent.
Bobby, I believe people are not complaining the frequency but the content.
Lineage 2 had characters say things on skills and no one every complained because they weren’t annoying lines.
For instance, “Accelerate!” would be great to hear on Swiftness but “I can outrun a centaur!” sounds like a bad joke that gets more and more annoying.
I know you’re now trying to find the quickest way to solve issues (which is good strategy during a launch), but I hope the “quick fixes” are temporary placeholders and will be improved to keep up with the high quality of the game itself.
I suggest the Fury boon should show a crosshair like the one used for Precision stat.
So far, when I made constructive criticism, I never met any hater/fanboy to spit on my mature points.
Most complaints I see are very disruptive, opinionated, generic, use absolutisms and never give any realistic solution.
Those are rants, not criticism, and as such they deserve to be assaulted because if we let people hate freely this forum will become like GW2Guru’s Tyrian Assembly.

DEs need better scaling, yes.
They are both too hard to solo and AoE instagib faceroll with a team.
Difficulty should increase a lot more with teams and decrease a bit when alone.
I really hope Anet reworks DE scaling and especially give you infos on those “anti-bot” things and telling us exactly what we’re supposed to do and what we are not supposed to do.
If GW2 was a PvP-based game, then it would be a very poor game considering sPvP has very little content and many missing features while PvE has 15gb of content.
People need to stop claiming a game is “based” on something just because they like it.
GW2 offers a lot in all fields, it isn’t centered on anything specific.
There is somewhat of a diminishing returns aspect. If you would pay attention it is fairly obvious due to the large pop up achievements and pieces of yellow glitter that float over to your exp bar. Then again, it’s too much to ask people to read in an mmorpg.
What? I don’t see any warning in-game in regards of diminishing returns.
Still waiting for an answer.
Anyone? Anet/Players?
I’ve read that if you kill the same type of mob continuously you get diminishing returns.
Does killing “risen” mobs, regardless of if it’s a human or a beast, counts as the same type?
Because in Orr all mobs are risen so I’m worried that I’m getting DRs.
Also, does staying in a map for long (for instance, Cursed Shore) lead to diminishing returns?
I’m lenient to go back to previous maps as I fear I’d get non lvl 80 loots there.
Thanks in advance
Whirling Axe is mathematically a joke but the average Warrior isn’t good at math so they will say “noooo it’s g00d bro rly”.
The reality is that the only Axe attacks worth using are Cyclone and autoattack, everything else is a major drain on your DPS.
I’m currently “stuck” in Machor’s leap as there is nobody here and getting map completion alone is quite frustrating on this map.
Loots are meh and DEs are worth half a teleport’s worth.
What should I do now to get geared?
Should I slip into Orr and tag along with people to farm there or is there any better way?
I’d like to farm solo honestly, I don’t like people very much.
Luckily, there is a 2 mil people here who don’t need “addiction”, they game for fun.
World of Warcraft is the best in terms of giving you illusionary rewards and keep you addicted, I suggest to buy your copy today.
It simply doesn’t resurrect players. I tried from different ranges etc.
A 2s block is hardly preventing damage equal to the extra heal from signet of resolve unless you’re being hit by a boss or 10 mobs.
It’s clear that Shelter and Breeze are quite useless now, you guys aren’t level 80 I fear.
