So many light armor pants. The mesmer especially. Light armor + pants is clearly the opposite of what GW had. Yes sir.

You could have chosen the ele. But nope, you went with necro which has nearly as many skirts as it has pants (without any skirt attached to it) for female. And nearly all of the skirts in GW1 looked better on the character than those in GW2.

Even mesmers had 10 pants. And actually, the dresses are all part of the top armor, the leggings are hose in those kind of sets.

Well they are overly sensitive if they feel bait and switched. And maybe they should be more careful about how they manage their own money. You aren’t forced to buy something else with those 800 gems. You can simply wait until there’s something else you want.

You’re being a little disingenuous here.

While there may be people who state they will never again buy gems, which in a lot of cases we all know won’t hold, there are distinctly people who did buy gems specifically for this armour, and potentially would not have were it to look like something else.

Yes some players might have bought gems specifically for this armor. But that doesn’t change the fact that in the future they have 800 gems they can use to buy something else they want.
And honestly, I’m pretty sure that for most buyers, this wasn’t their first time using their credit card to buy gems. When Anet releases a new skin, they will probably buy it. Or the one released after. Or after.

Point is : they aren’t going to lose those 800 gems. There’s nothing disingenuous about that.

You think GoM in WvW is kind of unpredictable ? GoM in PvE makes no sense at all. The only logical explanation I figured out was that our PvErs guest on other servers instead of playing on GoM.
Since those same players don’t care about WvW they are fine with guesting.

But then, Anet gave loot and achievement points that couldn’t be obtained with guesting. So they had no choice but to come in WvW. Now that I look back on it, we should have been against HoD and SF during that first week. That way, some would have left our server and maybe push us to the “High” category (or lower, but I’m pretty sure those kind of players are cheap).
I’m now hoping there season chest contains way better loot for first place than fourth. Maybe our “PvE only, WvW is terrible” players will finally leave. Because we did try, on numerous occasions, to attract PvE players in WvW. That rarely goes well.

As for why GoM is so inconsistent : the harder it gets, the less players play. But there’s also a severe lack of communication/attention from time to time.

Rubric armor is available in PvE.
My necro got the top around level 40 as a rare drop in fields of ruins back when the game was released. There’s a small chance my memory is bad and it was a personal story reward, but I remember wearing it in Fields of Ruins.

That suggestion will calm some of them down.

And they already said they didn’t like cultural armor anymore. It took too much resources so that only a fraction of the playerbase could enjoy it. Especially when some races aren’t really played.
Like Charrs. Then again, when you look at their cultural armor…I wonder what kind of drastic cultural changes Charrs went to from dressing like this or this or this (and players dare to say elementalist were skimpy back then) to this…

That is why Rox’s armor isn’t limited to Norns.

I didn’t chose them because I find them ugly. It’s because it “fits” with their ongoing theme :
-medium gets coats
-light gets overly skimpy for female and covered up for male

Except dervish. That tube top looks too weird on a male and I can’t fathom the laughs from seeing a male fat norn wearing one of those. Actually this would be awesome if it was added (and I like the female top).

I sometime made bad race choices when creating my characters because I end up wanting other races cultural armor. However, if they add cheap effects like flames, frost, dust or any kind of glow/particle effect, I don’t find it interesting.

The devs aren’t going to answer anything in this thread until they can think of an answer that won’t be insulting and feel empty to the majority of reader. Since so many different types of players are complaining about it, it will take them some time to come up with one.
And harassing them isn’t going to help. When someone throws a fit, you simply shrug and let it cool down before opening your mouth if you things to go forward.

I love that idea. But I’m scared that the choices will simply be terrible…Medium will probably get ranger ancient or norn, light will get elementalist ascalon or istani and heavy will surely get dervish norn (If you don’t see what’s wrong with the last one, check the male armor carefully).

“I wanted to be unique”…No you didn’t. You wanted to own something expensive. There are dozens of armor pieces that are almost never worn. Yet most human casters are in T3.
I don’t find anything wrong with wanting to show off, but at least don’t hide it behind “I wanted to be a snowflake”.

What do you honestly expect them to say ? This isn’t you throwing a fit at your kid and expecting them to say “sowwy we’ll fix it”. Because they can’t fix it. According to numerous posts, hundreds of players already own those armor. Anet isn’t going to take that away from them.

Anet doesn’t like the idea of designing armor that only one armor class belonging to one specific race can use.

They surely won’t limit armor designs per class. That would be terrible. Players complained about the armor designs differences in GW1, they won’t do that same mistake. I don’t understand why players like to limit themselves with such ideas. On one hand you have those that wished all armor skins could be worn by everyone, and on the other you have those that request armor skins to be limited by the profession you chose.

At least those costumes were account bound.

Look, it’s not our job to guess and pity Anet if ol’ meanie NCSoft is forcing them to take awful decisions. Our job is to voice our opinions without being disrespectful to them to make our remarks readable.

If they plan on releasing more racial armor on the gem store, which is great for me since I won’t have to buy t-stones, I hope they make them without any effects because I’m not a fan of particles and flames everywhere.
But releasing a Karma armor ? And not even the one most players are wearing ? That’s…it’s hard to understand the train of thoughts behind it.
If you reskin something, you take a popular skin. Not something players have been avoiding.

Eons ago, when EotN was released, players complained that NPCs got better armor than players, which was true. So one day, Anet said “don’t worry, anything a NPC wears, you can get it too”.

Of course now we know it wasn’t true.

But those armors weren’t NPC armors. In the mesmer preview video, you can see one wearing number 4.

I’m not quite sure we are talking about the same thing. Unlike the other races (except Asura), there is no armor difference between female and male Charrs.
I didn’t verify it, but I’m pretty sure even with this armor it’s still the case, or else we would have heard about female Charr wearing such a skimpy top and skirt.

If Anet allows female humans to wear all the Charr racial armors, they will have to make another version for them. Oh woops. This was the case for me, since I always play in the lowest graphics to make WvW as smooth as possible.

This is so funny. I said for ages that what happened behind TR will not be up to the hype people were thinking about. But Scarlet ? I didn’t think of that. Of course, at the time, we didn’t know anything about her and her ability to be behind everything every time.

But having her included in the Abaddon fractal would have actually been interesting. It would have shaped a little better her character and bring light on more things about her. Of course, some players would have been angry by it (just like now).

However, let’s face it. The fractals were GW2 vs GW1 lore. People chose Scarlet (without knowing it, but hey, that’s politics :p).

I’m not bothered too much by the fact that now anyone female norn and sylvari can wear human T3, I’m not a fan of limiting armor. What bothers me is that medium and heavy didn’t get so lucky.
And guys, don’t expect to see Charr and Asura cultural armor get the same treatment because it will force them to create female model for those armors.

I agree with that. I dropped 1300 gems (70g when I bought them) for 2 armor pieces belonging to 2 different sets…I’m not going to use the rest.

I got a bag from Dwayna after hitting her with only 1 attack from my thief (around 3k). You barely need to touch monsters to get a bag.

Some of us dont find it fun to do any content in a zerg. Only dragonite I get is from guild challenge once a week and the odd duo/trio of melandru, dwayna, lyssa or golem mark 2.

My guildies and me have opposite play times. But since you have guildies (at least 5) you can do virtually any events just by you guys without having a zerg (Dredge, Shaman, Ogres) and the 3 temples you have listed can be done without any problems with only 6 persons. In fact, Lyssa is better with less people.
And if you are scared of a zerg coming in, you can always guest on other servers.

That’s how you complete events without having a zerg to make it even more mindless, like Dwayna :/.

When you know how to play with meta events timer and how to lead the zerg where you want (instead of being another zergling), it’s rather easy to get stacks of dragonite ores.

It’s not that it’s not easily available (there’s a little of that though), it’s that people get used to having others do the job for them, consciously or not.

Since there’s always one guy doing the events, making everything go right, they don’t know or even bother knowing that some things might go wrong. And when that dude is gone, they are left waiting around wondering if there’s a bug.
One day I saw a bunch of people waiting on a hill in Queensdale. They were waiting for the boar. No one launched the event. After watching them for 5 minutes I felt sorry for them and launched it.

Now that I think of it, the current lore is completely understandable :
Players wanted a nice little hero that didn’t have anything wrong with her. The majority didn’t want the shady Evon.

So the message sent was : “he want heroes to stay as heroes and seemingly bad guys to never get expanded lore”. Thus bland Scarlet was born. Thank you people who voted for Kiel because “she is nice”.

They should have surprised with the leagues and locked the transfers as soon as it happened if they wanted something relevant to the situation back then. Instead they let guilds pick the winning server of each league creating even more differences between servers in the same league.
But hey, they want people to buy gems (with real money or gold, since buying with gold will drive the prices up).

higher tier or walls=lower points from objective, like you need to choose, want to fully upgrade to have advantage or more points? if you have people to maintain upgrades and defend it,you dont need so many points because you are probably stronger. And if you dont upgrade, you wont hold it for long.

I’m tired of everyone wanting to be with a zerg and not anyone defending stuff. So I’m thinking the opposite : the more upgrades, the more points it gives (I’ll let Anet, if they implement this idea, bother with getting the correct numbers).
This way, more people will be on defense, and the effect of night-capping will be reduced unless they stay behind for hours to upgrade tower and camps.

OP: Never really had this problem before… If I did, I would probably just acquire an item with the same stats without the “possibly-desired-in-the-future”-skin.

Maybe it could haven been worded a better way, but it’s true. Anet isn’t making them unlockable because they want people to give them more money if they want the same armor on their alts.

And I don’t understand your way of getting around this problem ? From what I understand, you’ll just get another item without the skin you want ? …

I understand you get bored, but the simple truth is content in MMOs are built for new players, not old ones, otherwise they can’t retain anyone to begin with, and lose long-term market power. Thats why most of the newest armor skins so far are in the gem store, its the easiest way to get a good look when you’ve just come to the game, all you have to do is open your wallet. And it benefits Anet at the same time, too…

Have you see the Charr cultural armor ? No one seeing them can think “hey, more than half of them really looks good and fit my Charr really well !”
They don’t make a nice impression on any one.

And they said they weren’t into doing Cultural armor anymore because it was a waste of making so much sets when only 1 race could use it. They might do it again sometime, but don’t expect it any time soon.

For the thing about the toxins, yeah I realized that mistake after talking to the NPCs and seeing mentions that the krait had a part in creating it.

Sadly their won’t even be a match up like that. Closest we get is HoD/FC/GoM and since it’s also going to be the week when new Fractals are coming, it’s going to be a pretty empty match up from our side :/ (unless our PvE loving players aren’t into fractals).

SF fight sucked because GoM was too scared to fight them so we got 2v1’ed all week in EB. I Don’t think we got more than 1-2 upgrades on anything in EB all week except our keep which also flipped daily.

If it was DH or HoD or someone else with us and SF we would have had a very close match. I mean look at 6 weeks ago FC/DH/SF that was freakin epic 3-way too-close-to-call match all week. Then look at week 2 league the closest match of all freakin time.

Sometimes it does annoy me and I might try to find the dude who killed me and get back at him, but most of the time I don’t care because I’m fully aware that I’m terrible at fighting anything that isn’t a thief.

Hope HOD and SF like playing with eachother because GOM is pretty much done for the week. This match completely sucks and nobody wants to play. Will be glad when it ends. There will come a time when you are in GOMs shoes and be a low population server try to remember that.

Truth be told, if you thought we had any kind of chance, even at being second, you are overly positive. But things aren’t that horrible. Before the fight started, some of us thought we wouldn’t even be able to cap and hold things for more than 1 hour.
So up til the LS update, things weren’t too bad. After, I don’t know, I didn’t have too much time to play, but I’m pretty sure things got worse.

But next week is against ET and AR. So our little skritts will be back. Before they leave the next week against FC, HoD and the LS (then again, if it’s the fractal update, they might not all run away to it).

And yeah…GoM loves using emotes sometimes, for kind of random reasons >.>

I don’t know about the krait’s involvement with the toxins, but she certainly didn’t use them to appear as their prophets. Well, the Nightmare Court didn’t at least. And the Nightmare Court at least knew Scarlet was Scarlet. We never see krait make mention of Scarlet so it’s possible that she came to them under hallucinatory influence. However, their prophet in this was the Toxic Hybrid, not Scarlet.

I don’t doubt the NC knew Scarlet was Scarlet.

But during the dungeon, you can hear 2 NC talking about how the kraits are under the toxins effect and think that the NC is their prophets. Even before the last fight, the krait seems to want to protect the two NC and they say something like “do you think your prophet cant’ take care of them (Us) ?”
Now maybe I heard/read wrong. Because the last boss doesn’t make sense if I didn’t. He pops out like that, with no one else around to see him, not even Scarlet. Which makes me wonder : if she wanted that creature, why no hold us out a bit longer ? She didn’t even see its abilities or even its birth.

I think that all references to the PS are due to the toxins. Scarlet doesn’t know any of them. Which discredits nearly everything we have seen or heard in this tower and even in any places since those toxins have been spread anywhere. It even hit ice brood minions (and if I’m not mistaken, dragon corruptions doesn’t overlap, so those toxins have nothing to do with the ED).

And also, from what I gathered in game, Scarlet had that toxins without the kraits. She used it to make the NC (and probably herself) appear as the krait’s prophets, which would explain why the kraits stop everything they are doing and try to rally the NC when they are downed.
So their only use was to be test subjects. Don’t make me believe that she needed them to build the tower.

I did notice during the final cut scene that Scarlet point of view on those strategic losses were in fact personal victories. As she treats every loss as a learning curve for her next plan.

I have a question : played the new content yesterday and tried to really pay attention. Correct me if I’m wrong.

The Krait got their brains messed up by the toxins. They didn’t knew they were working with Scarlet or even the NC. Instead, they thought they were their prophets.

If I didn’t get that wrong, at first glance it doesn’t bother me too much. What however bothers me is what it really implies :
-Scarlet didn’t need to Krait to create those toxins, nor does she have any further plans for them since she let’s us kill her creation.
-She (maybe) only needed them to release massively the toxins.
-And the worse : what if all of this was a lie ? Maybe she didn’t have access to the toxins the times we met before, fine. But in the future, that thing touched everyone, everyone ice broods.

Does anyone else think that Kasmeer getting hurt by a torn is something that shouldn’t be considered trivial ?

And do we know who was the mesmer behind the cloaking spell ?

It was a good cinematic. Didn’t show us what we already knew, but it slightly caught my attention at the end. Not only did Scarlet look menacing, she outright ADMITTED that we won’t be seeing her for a while. Meaning this is the final time we’ll see her for the rest of the year.

Anet, I hope you make the next living story about us with Marjory doing some detective work on what led Scarlet to evil. Interrogating people in Rata Sum, invade an Inquest lab to beat down a scientist who knew her, etc. Use that to flesh out her objectives, her motives, her real personality, etc. It’s the perfect time for us to play Batman.

Ugh I’d rather have the, expand current GW2 lore than Scarlet. Because when I think about it, anything involving her will only be full of hype and in the end we won’t learn anything at all (Caithe’s secret anyone ?).

And we’ll probably get back to her in January. Fractals and Wintersday will take the next updates.

Actually now that I think about it before going to sleep : she has a motivation. She’s a drama w**re. She wants fame, she wants people to talk about her, she wants to wreak havoc.
That’s it.

When I saw that cut scene I thought “This is it. Scarlet will make her big reveal and we’ll be done with here forever”. But none of that happened. Instead we got nothing new and Scarlet getting away for the nth time hinting that she’s up to no good (yeah like we needed that hint…)

When the event started, the zerg formed and waited around for people to complete the chambers before moving on, while clearing every monster.
Now people are running to the top, but they do help each other along the way. Just talk to others and form groups to get up fighting or running.

Some of things they did were good (like champ boxes and I like getting gold at the end of dungeons). But a lot of the things they did were hyped by them (like getting gold at the end of dungeons).

You might say it’s because we are reading too much into it. But we all know Anet loves to play on word and make enough space for them to back up without being branded as liars.

Except when it’s too exaggerated and they pull a “well we didn’t finish it in time because we really want to do it perfectly” kind of like mini games (which they declared months before the release that they were perfectly and completely done and yet for some reason weren’t there at release, still aren’t there and got brushed off with “meh we have more important things to work on”).

So this would be something really dumb and insulting to the lore ? Think it might happen in a few hours !

But truth be told, if this was a close match up, I’d be annoyed. But it’s not. Our skirtt allies most likely left WvW for this week and all that remains are players that somewhat care about the league and those seeking to complete their daily.

Of course, some of us will play that new event for a few hours but then we’ll be back to WvW.

Oh the number of times I tried to save one of my team mates when he was in a duel >.>

But if you pay attention, you can easily see if they are dueling or if you need to help :
-if you see emotes (bow) it’s a duel
-if one of them is chasing the other around, it’s not a duel because players in duel accept that they are going to die and don’t try to run away and take cover.
-also, but this is getting more rare, the winner doesn’t finish the loser, he just goes away.

They aren’t a horrible company. But they are far from being an exception. Just don’t hold too much expectations regarding what they said they were going to do and when they were going to do it.

Like other have said : you got new traits, you got a new skill (that’s enough for them since they didn’t specify the number). For everything that won’t make it in time, they’ll just say “sorry, didn’t have enough time. You’ll see that soon though” (“soon” most likely being 6 months later, I mean look at the guesting feature >.>).

Of course, if they need more time it’s because they want to finish it and make sure it’s good. But they should really stop giving themselves deadlines when everyone knows they won’t make them.

The game was clearly rushed. It had to be released. That’s a business decision just about every MMO has to come to terms with. The first year was all about fixing the game. Implementing guesting, a looking for group tool, dealing with culling and fixing a myriad of bugs (which they have). People claim bugs haven’t been fixed since launch but the list of bugs that have been fixed is a long one.

Regarding the bugs, you are right. But then again we know that it’s been rushed, so that long list of bug doesn’t matter that much.
That’s like saying “they fixed a lot of bugs since Alpha”. Of course they did, they had to if they wanted to make this game playable. Now some bugs aren’t really annoying, they just randomly happen and barely affect the game play. They can take some time to fix it.
However, when a year after the game has been released, I still encounter DE that are stuck, that’s utterly unbelievable. We should be past the stage where things aren’t working at all.

And that is what’s annoying with Anet : they barely touch old content and prefer to create more and more stuff. The stuff they create gets better with each new release, but the old stuff stays the same.
