anet can you stop making Outfit

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

RedStar.4218

Fact: People will complain no matter what they do.

They make outfits, people complain that there’s too many outfits and not enough armour.

They make the armour, people complain that it clips with their other armour, or doesn’t mesh right with their other armour.

You’d be right. If some outfits didn’t clip with themselves. Every single complaints regarding armor pieces are made for outfits too : clipping, charr tails/horns, gender differences, with the added “bonus” of not being able to mix-match them.

Don’t delve too deep trying to figure out the reasoning behind Anet producing outfits instead of armor. It’s faster and less troublesome to do.

The increasing number of players wearing them is linked to :
-it’s a new thing
-some of them aren’t too bad
-the transmutation cost

But a lot of players aren’t buying them because they don’t want to wear the whole set at the same time.

Dungeon Loot to include Armor/Weapon Chests

It wouldn’t kill them, but it won’t change a lot.

Look at how terrible the drop rates are for ascended chest in fractals. Then look at how terrible they are for dungeon path recipes.
Don’t hope that it would be any better if Anet decided to put ascended chests in dungeons.

In fact, they could even lie to us and tell us they did that no one would notice.

RedStar.4218

It’s not a hard boss but it can become an unforgiving fight.

Regardless of the path, if your team piles up too many mistakes (not dodging) and too many players are down (and soon to be dead), it’s going to get hard.

But if you know how to dodge, and move around Alpha from time to time to at least try to avoid the red circles, it’s not a hard fight.

And having a guardian, like always, makes things easier. But it’s not mandatory.

However, as it has already been said and is true for pretty much every encounters in GW2, the more the fight drags on, the harder it’s going to get. Endurance will be low, skills will be on recharge and the general health of your party will be lower.

Think of PVT gear as training wheels. It’s nice to learn an encounter and you’re class, but once you have the hang of it, take them out and move to something that will increase your damages. Just like a PVT guy is better than a dead-in-2-seconds zerker player, a fully-living-with-no-trouble-PVT wearer would be more useful in berserker’s.

This armor was only obtainable by chance in the MF in spvp. In other words, grind and salvage for the chance at the mats you need for a chance for this armor to even be spat back out.

People want it back because the method to obtain it was absurd.

You gotta be kidding. Or you have to be the unluckiest players in the world. With the amount of glory obtained to get to rank 30 you should have had way more than enough of it to “play” with the MF (because the recipe had what ? a 50% chance to give you the piece you wanted).
Oh and you also had the rank up chest, which again, you should have had way more than enough glory to buy a dozen.

Getting to rank 30 was a grind. But once you were there, it was easy as hell to get it.

Anet doesnt care about the players

Look around at how many players do dungeons regularly. Then randomly follow the world boss train.

Anet “cares” (because even then, that word is too strong) for the type of content most likely to be played.
So something like creating a new farm zone.
But a new dungeon that only a fraction of players will regularly do ? meh.

why can’t people let past content remain as past content?

Because it’s not. The tribal armor and other pvp “exclusive” armor aren’t past content. From the start they are something they didn’t really think through. Having it named as “Masquerade” armor, with the PvE Masquerade icon for months pretty much show that they didn’t think it through.

Because if you want to do really fast dungeon runs, a full warrior team might not be the way you want to go.

For some dungeons the gold rewards needs a rework though (SE p2 vs SE p1).

The crafting material thing won’t work the way you’re thinking. Aside from Arah (which some groups might have a hard time with, or at least take a long time), most other dungeons are pretty close in time with each other with maybe CoE taking 1 or 2 more minutes than the others and HotW being boring as hell.

Today the maximum number of AP one can get assuming that player can get them all is, if I’m not mistaken (which might be the case) 28505.

That player would still be missing 4500 points to at least get 1 full set. Since the game has been released, Anet has added 7000 AP (considering LS 1 and 2, new dungeons/fotm, and new WvW achievements). So yeah, sure in 2 years maybe someone will have reached 33k.

It won’t attract any more players aside from those already doing dungeons and maybe FotM.

Those who don’t like 5-man dungeons are probably not going to like having to play with 9 other players.

And zerker gear will still be king. If you know how to dodge and use your skills, you don’t need to drag on a fight by sacrificing damage for survivability. What role is there that really needs to rely on something other than zerker to work and be worth it ?

Even GW1 had 8 man groups, why are now limited to 5 instead? Why can we not have 8 and scaling dungeons?

Because Anet saw that their GW1 playerbase didn’t like having to party with 7 others. Especially with all the QQ to be able to have 7 heroes. So in order to please their then playerbase, they decided to lower the party size.

“We are the asura, lords of deep domains that are now denied to us, overwhelmed by numbers, power and brute force. We have been forced to this open, sun-filled world and forced to rebuild our civilization. That we have succeeded is a testament to the indomitable spirit and innate intelligence of our people. In every day and with every invention, we rebuild our world and bend reality to match our needs. The Eternal Alchemy states that everything is interwoven. The actions of a single asura, of one experiment, can have wider implications throughout the world. We are all part of the Eternal Alchemy, whether as cogs, pistons, wheels, springs, or arcanic crystals. The ultimate goal in life is to comprehend the greater purpose of the Eternal Alchemy and to strive in perfecting it.”

Dungeoneer title

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: RedStar.4218

RedStar.4218

AP doesn’t mean kitten. For every example you have, someone has a counter example. Neither does owning a legendary. Or a full set of Glorious armor. Or a title.

Oh, that’s not it. I expect everyone to suck. I also expect people to not tell each other how to play unless they ask for help.

I suppose those are unreal expectations, but if I’m “running a meta build” I shouldn’t be asked to bring reflects to a dungeon full of projectiles.

I hate when people tell me to slot Time Warp, Feedback, and Portal. If you want to tell me how to play a Mesmer, why aren’t you on one instead? I know how to do my duty, and that’s all that I care about. If you want to do my duty for me, get on your own Mesmer, don’t get on mine.

I also am capable of soloing plenty of content, so it’s not a matter of getting good or lucky with PuGs, but just a matter of doing it with others to make it go by faster. I also have internet problems when my entire family is home so it’s nice to have a buffer in case I disconnect.

And attitudes like this is why a lot of players have given up trying to be nice and explaining stuff to others.
We are either made fun of by “think they know everything but actually don’t” or have to deal with players who get upset when someone gives them the smallest tip just in case he didn’t know and didn’t want to admit it.

Why dont you make a raid dungeon?

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: RedStar.4218

RedStar.4218

So 2 people can kick the other 8 ?

Now more seriously, with 10 players encounters are going to be just big punching bags (kind of right now, but worse). The difficulty in other games with raids mainly is coordination and assigning specific roles.
In GW2 the difficulty is “can you read and think a little ?” (not talking about doing a run in the least amount of time possible).

Before someone mentions Wurm : Wurm was a timed event with all new mechanics that could only be tried every 2 hours and enough players to cap a map. Because of this, it took players a while to understand those mechanics (unlike dungeons where a wipe is only a 30 seconds delay to try again) and for most of the map to actually be useful in the fight.

Creating a 10 man dungeon is simply going to be a waste of time. Some players are going to find it boring, others are going to complain that it’s too hard and the result is simply going to be another dead dungeon that barely anyone bothers.

Medium Armour Diversity

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: RedStar.4218

RedStar.4218

Ideally, I would want the same system as GW1 where each profession could only wear their own armors, but if they wanted to open it to each armor class that’s okay.

I really just want the old style of armors that had the profession’s feel to them. I really miss the style of the old necromancer armors in particular. There’s nothing like it in GW2, except the ONE skin that they remade and sold in the gem store (though I should be surprised that they brought over any skins at all really).

Out of all the beautiful necromancer armor they imported the one and only set I never wanted to wear. Even the fish armor (primeval) would have been better.

However, they do have so kind of themed armor. Well only a very few sets. Dry Bones and Tribal for necromancers, Apprentice, Embroidered and Conjurer for Elementalist and Masquerade maybe for Mesmers (Mesmers wore elegant, stylish and sexy armor in GW1, in GW2 you don’t really find that).

Now for medium you can still find some profession themed armor and the overwhelming number of trenchcoats doest not necessarily equal “rangers”.

I don’t mind profession themed sets, but I do mind exclusive sets. Lucky for me, Anet does too because it’s sort of waisted work.

There’s no armor diversity for any of the armor classes. GW1 had unique looking armor sets for each profession. Armor that was made non-specific so as to work for any of three professions just comes out looking bland.

That doesn’t make sense. You can have themed armor but make it available through the armor class.

I’ve never understood by some people desperately want profession exclusive armor. Why would you want to limit your choices ? For the sake of “exclusivity ?” …

Okay, and in what way is it beneficial to have 4 missions less or to rearrange it if players “don’t care” anyway? Were they just waiting for a chance to screw it up because the new team hates the core story? Was a coherent story costing extra money?

No, it makes no sense. I’m starting to have a half-hunch we’re still not getting any info on this because they cannot come up with a plausible explanation for such a kittenty decision.

RedStar.4218

Barely surprising. They realized that the general level of the community isn’t too great and that if they released something hard, it will barely get played.

So instead of doing something few people will actually enjoy, they actually prefer to cater to the vast majority that loves to “play how I want” (with them it means “I should be able to the same thing as someone geared with full damage gear and traits”) with not too hard content.

Now if only they could fix bugs in the current dungeons (without putting more bugs…) and maybe, just maybe make some encounter more interesting (like Tazza).

Still they released wurm? i don’t know what Anet is thinking, but not every player on the community is of general level. Might aswell make a server with dungeons enabled and others focussing on LS and other boring PVE content.

I won’t bash wurm by saying “that’s also easy” because it’s not. At least not in the same sense of difficulty. Generally when you go from 5 players to 50+, the difficulty shifts from each individual player pulling his own to good communication and coordination skills. At least at first.

Plus wurm had specific mechanics that took a while to correctly understand because unlike dungeons where you can bash your head as much as you like, if you fail wurm, you don’t try it again 20 seconds later and at the same point in the event. You have to start everything over again.

I’ve been in a few organised wurm events way back and it was quite sad to see how many players were there hoping to get carried by the rest of the group. “Meh, others will do the job for me, I don’t have to change my traits, gears and skills for that”.

Now with megaservers, players are slowly getting the hang of everything and more and more are becoming active participants in an event rather than hoping to get carried through. Except for Mark II…they know that whatever they do it’s going to be completed within the time limit, even if instead of doing it in 5 minutes or less like before, they now take 10+.

But still, instead of focussing on make players better and making them really see if they are getting better or not, Anet prefers to hold hands (well now it’s more of a weird forceful hug). Instead of making “hard” or “easy” content to please a side of the playerbase, I would be happy if at first they things to improve the general level instead of doing “easy, easy, easy and here’s something very few are accustomed to”.

I'm just sad... :'(

What if, and keep in mind that I’m still unable to play so I’ve yet to see this in action, zergs actually became smarter ?

And when I say zerg, I mean at the very least 25 players.

(Guild) Catapults and (Superior)Trebuchets are the true queens and kings of WvW. You are actually sieging a tower. You can spread them enough to not be too hindered by the trick.
“But what if it’s T3 tower/Keep ?” Don’t let them reach that point. Yaks aren’t hard to kill and any defender knows how long it is for a tower to reach T3, especially when the yaks are being killed.

But now comes the real and terrible problem : a lot of tiers simply do not have enough players for that. During the down time, the few players on will have time to run yaks and fortify tower/keeps without too much trouble and if the other side attacks with only 10 players, that lone defender can keep them at bay long enough for people to leave, completely bored to tears because getting a measly champion bag in 10 long and frustrating minutes isn’t something they enjoy.

If WvW was in really healthy state, maybe this trick would be more interesting.

How does level gate teach a person systems?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

I’m for good tutorials.

But forcing players to only play with certain skills until they reach a high enough level isn’t really going to change anything. I know enough players that have been using the same class and the same weapons for months and still don’t even know what their skill release does. They just press every key.

Everytime I pull monsters with my gs 5 on my guardian and the second after a necro places staff mark 5, I cry a little inside.

Nowadays, and Anet even said it themselves, a lot of players don’t want to read it. They barely want to spend a minute thinking about which skill to use, what build to have or even what gear. They just take whatever, use whatever whenever and marvel at how it’s difficult.
“Meta builds” aren’t some high level min/maxing…it’s simply reading the traits descriptions and picking the ones that suit whichever skills you’ll be using (if you don’t use a staff, don’t take a trait related to it…).

I used to hate tutorials, but really this game needs some. Some kind of terribly long tutorial that really thinks you’ve never once played a game and spends long hours teaching you every single freaking thing. With a voice over in case you can’t read. And it should be unskippeable and everyone, even veterans, should be forced to go through it.
If they are going to strech out the leveling experience, might as well make it teach you things.

Let’s clear the arguments :
-By this time GW1 already had 2 stand alone campaigns and EotN was soon to arrive
-It was a much smaller team

-GW2 is way bigger and requires obviously more time and people to do stuff
-In GW1 they promised a new campaign every 6 months and only held tha for NF
-In GW2 they held their “every two week” thing for a few months then they said somewhere that this might have been too ambitious (just like for GW1).

A mixed pack, then—one with some genuine improvements, but hampered by potentially off-putting systems. Personally, I’m most interested to see how the balance tweaks change the game’s PvP, and whether it finally makes certain classes (like the poor, previously neglected Ranger) a more viable option. But, as someone who’s been toying with the idea of creating a new character, I’m not thrilled by the prospect of a more simplified progression. Expect more detailed impressions when I’ve had a chance to fully explore the new systems.

Emphasis mine.

I think this Feature Pack deserves criticism, and this impression isn’t optimistic about it, but let’s wait for the actual review before you start holding it up as a death sentence.

People like Taimi and for the sake of humanity, I really hope that it’s not because they see even an ounce of sexuality from her.

I hope that Anet thinks “sex sells” is a stupid. But then again, the real climax of S1 wasn’t Scarlet revealing her master plan (nope, Braham made sure of that) but a lesbian kiss…

The Avatar’s face is what is bugging me. The way I remember it (I have 5 characters who completed all the PS involving her with 2 being Sylvari) she has kind of a dumb naive look.

And I’m on Draxynnic’s side regarding “sex sells”.
My characters are dressed in skimpy outfits (or not) not to fantasize about it, but because they fit them well enough. My only desire for my necromancer was to level her up quickly enough to have access to something else than the micro skirt…too bad the second skirt fans out when you swim and the first craftable pants has two openings below the hips…

And while we’re at it, let’s at least get a laugh out of it http://www.cracked.com/article_19373_5-ridiculous-sex-myths-everyone-believes_p2.html

Who even cares about AP ?

As long as owning BL weapons does not reward you with a precursor, some players are over dramatizing this.
