Destiny’s Edge killed Zhaitan. That in itself is a monumental feat. What’s wrong with having a second guild tackle Mordremoth?

Because it can’t be easy to kill one. If it was, why didn’t any one do something for the last 250 years ?

Marjory, Rox, Braham and Taimi aren’t anything special (I’ve let out Kass because supposedly she now is special). Their feat to this day is having us as their boss. They didn’t even give a kitten about what Scarlet had to say.

DE did a bunch of stuff, killed some champions, got to talk and get advice from Glint and almost killed an ED.

They can’t even cater to at least 2 of the current 5 races. Why would they bother adding one more ?

As for professions, there’s enough problems with at least 3 of them. But for this one, they might try to push a new profession and hope everyone else forgets their “mistake”.

Thought the head honcho said way back pre release that there wouldnt be a xpac?

No. There will be one, just like there will be new legendaries.

The main PS character is a Sylvari. You go ask the Pale Tree on what do to fight Zhaitan. Orr is cleansed thanks to a sword made by the Pale Tree. The main antagonist of GW2 was a Sylvari.
It awoke a Jungle dragon and the Pale Tree plays a part into all of that.

Oh and the most recent bad guy was a Sylvari.

So…sylvari everywhere.

“Yes, “kill” as in it’s physical form, but after his death, Zhaitan’s spirit corrupted the Envoys so now his spirit is back !"

Oh wait, that means using GW1 material. And from Cantha.

When they bring Zhaitan back, it wouldn’t surprise me if it’s “Well you thought you killed him, but he has been reborn !”

How I can’t wait for this LS season to end once and for all so we can put all the sylvari behind once and for all and move out to a story where they are the most precious thing in Tyria….talk about kittening that GW1 lore was too human-centric (of course it was, 3 of the now playable races didn’t even exist until the last expansion and even then, one of them didn’t even have a face).

Hopefully this won’t be for a story where only asuras can save the day.

You can buy nearly every component required to craft an ascended aside from the vision crystal. So it’s simply a matter of getting to 500 (which isn’t that hard) and getting enough dragonite ore (which seems to be a problem for some).

In my opinion legendaries should never have been made trade-able. They should be account bound on acquire.

Hopefully, if new legendaries ever see the day, this will be the case.

During the Concordia mission with Rox.

What? I never saw something like that.
I went with Braham in order to find the caravan.
Would you mind telling me what happened)

Basically, if you follow Rox, you find someone from the Priory who tells you that their caravan was attacked and it’s extremely troublesome because they were carrying a very powerful magical locket which shows the current heir of the krytan throne.
Because it’s such a powerful item, they move it around randomly and with the utmost secrecy (the NPC tells you that because of your position in the Pact).

Your objections are valid, I agree. But Pale Tree being yet another god is just somehow not fitting into anything for me. Human gods look like they might be tied into 7 orbs somehow, but then again why would Pale Tree add to the pantheon? There are no openings left as far as I can see. (Dwayna, Balthazar,Kormir,Grenth,Melandru,Abaddon,Lyssa = 7)P

You either only mention Abaddon, or only Kormir. Because Kormir completely replaced Abaddon.

We can’t go anywhere close to the extreme of GoTs for this game, but we can learn something from it. Anet is definitely not afraid to kill people, they do it constantly with brutal regularity. They just have to make sure it has impact for us. And I will be a happy camper.

If you look at GW2 and talk to people in game and on the forums (your experience may differ), but no one gives a kitten about nearly any NPC.
The only NPC players remotely care about are Quaggans, Skirtts and Tybalt (because he’s a goofy char).

The only NPCs we spend a bit of time with are :
-Treahearne, which a lot of players dislike because he’s the Pact leader
-Rox, Braham, Marjory, Kass and more recently Taimi.

Of those, the only death that would shock and move players would be Taimi’s. Which they won’t kill.

You might want to check your map sometime for Jormag because where he awoke is one big lake now. Don’t you think a Giant Elder dragon of Ice would have frozen at least some of that?

Jormag isn’t even on the map.

Besides Zhaitan, we have no idea where any of the Elder dragons are currently, and we only know where 3 of them woke up. Jormag is not in either of those groups. The only thing we can do. Is guess their position by damage done on the map. In the northern Shiverpeaks there is now a massive lake that was not there 250 years ago. This lake could not have been made by the tsunami caused by zhaitan that created other lakes as there was a mountain where that lake is now, and a wave powerful enough to dissolve the mountain would have likely killed every living thing on tyria.

This lake must have been created by a massively powerful entity. Since Jormag’s lore says he awoke north of Hoelbrak, he fits the bill. Once agian this leads me to the fact that flies in the face of what we know about Jormag. If Jormag created the lake why is not frozen?

You’re the one who said to check the map and see where Jormag awoke. Except that we can’t see that on the map.

Jormag awoke way off to the North, even farther than where Kodans and Quaggans used to live.

Primordus woke up way closer to where you’re talking about.

Why do people play anything other than a war?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

I have every class, geared in exotics and ascended Berserker (except my year old level 68 Ranger). I’d rather come with anything else than my warrior.
It’s just so boring to play…And well, if I want to up the DPS of my party, there’s better options.

Warriors are nice and easy in PuGs. But I’d rather come as a guardian to make sure they don’t die too quickly.

The better question would be:

Why does anyone play a necro? No mobility, lowest DPS of all classes, no active defenses, and very little group support. The only situation where a necro doesn’t objectively make your group worse is 3-headed wurm for the trash.

My first character is a Necro. Up to this day, it’s still the class I prefer wandering around in PvE. And PvP.
I don’t take it into dungeons and meta events because I’m not one to slow down everyone else, but it’s still a class I like.
You can probably blame that as my Necro being my main class in GW1 and nostalgia.

The colors start moving in this order:
Red, blue, white, green, purple, black.

However, the dragons woke up in the order:
Primordus, Jormag, Zhaitan, Bubbles, Kralkatorrik, Mordremoth.

It’s especially odd that we see green moving as the fourth, since we know Mordremoth was the last to wake up. Besides, Jormag woke up before Bubbles. So if Jormag is white, and Bubbles is blue, that means they are switched around. Something to consider, is that maybe the dragons started stirring in their sleep much earlier, and perhaps this is what we are being shown. It’s all rather confusing.

Regarding the DSD, since Anet is being so vague about it, we can’t really know where to place it.

However I thought of the “it’s when they started stirring” part. But having Mordremoth move fourth barely makes any sense even considering the infamous theory of “the pale tree and the sylvari are dragon minions”.

The red one could be Primordus. He’s the first to awaken, he’s the first (we know) to set his minions to awake him sooner. Jormag being after isn’t too far fetched with Drakkar.

But then, if the pale tree was a champion of Mordremoth (and ignoring that there are other pale trees, other sylvaris and that Ronan got this seed from a cave and then put in Arbor Bay), shouldn’t Mordremoth be the first one to have stirred ?
When we get to Arbor Bay, Primordus attacks are rather recent, as is Svanir getting transformed.
Yet the Pale Tree is already growing. And it doesn’t spawn fruits until after Zhaitan is awake.

And wow, if Mordremoth and Kralk have been stirring before Zhaitan, they really have terrible champions.

No but
1) SUBJECT alpha was an inquest test subject within the crucible of eternity, which is now controlled by the pact. you don’t think the inquest took any notes during their extensive experimentation, or that the pact decided that a facility working to create a controllable dragon champion wasn’t worth looking through their archives. As second in command of the pact I’m sure you would be informed of any other potential new (main) dangers/targets to the army. Not to mention that at least both the priory and the OoW knew there were 6 dragons before the crucible of eternity (you can read that in my earlier reply).
2) Mordremoth may only be the name that the pact has give (or possibly the name used in inquest sources once the crucible came under completely pact control.) the jungle dragon after, kind of like how tequatl’s name comes from the hylek language not necessarily what its real name is but what it is known as by its enemies.
3) We also discovered Scarlett’s journal which details her going mad (in game we only read what a page worth of dialogue in a journal surely there was more information inside) and talking about how she is fighting an outside influence, I wouldn’t be surprised if the name was mentioned in there.
4) The Pale tree may have gained some of scarlett’s memories through the dream of dreams. (“Pale Tree holds the sylvari’s collected knowledge and emotion”)

So you’re saying that because our character is part of the Pact, we know every single thing in the world ? Like, in the future if we get elona, it’d be totally obvious for our character to be up to date with what’s happening there because hey, the OoW is over there.

The thing is we never see this name (and don’t even bring combat logs in this…) and suddenly, our character utters this and everyone’s perfectly fine with it, like it’s a completely known fact.

The problem isn’t “why does the PC know the real name ?” or “is this the real name ?” it’s “hey new dragon. Well I’m naming it Mordremoth and everyone’s instantly knows what I’m talking about”.

Even if dragons have personal names, are you likely to ever know it. Did someone ever speak to Zhaitan to learn it? Does his undead know? Would they tell you if they did? Again, it’s much more likely Zhaitan was a name chosen by people rather than its personal name.

Yes his undead knows his name.

I try to get my AC run every night (at lest a path or 2) during weekdays and that gets me 1.5 to 3 g per day. If I do my math right, that means I will forever be chasing that carrot on a stick due to the crazy price in TP rise.

Boring for you maybe, but for me I love motion in combat, actively changing my position to avoid an onslaught of enemy attacks, especially when the floor lights up like a dance floor with AoEs. Standing in the corner is what I find boring, no matter how much active defense I perform. Some people like playing ranged and they’re frowned upon currently.
To make my stance clear, it’s not to destroy the meta but rather to eliminate discrimination in PvE, having faced discrimination back when thieves were considered unviable in dungeons. I’m well aware it impossible to completely get rid of discrimination in this game, such is the nature of humanity, but I do believe it’s at least possible to decrease the amount we see in game now.

Wait, “motion combat exclusive to ranged fighters” ? At 1200-1500 range ? When the others are in melee range ?
I don’t know what kind of encounters you are talking about in this game that have this.

Let’s take some bosses, and assume that your team cannot kill them under 10 seconds.
-AC spider : at 1200, you don’t get hit by her bleeding attack, you can easily dodge her web and moving out of her circles isn’t too hard because you have 3 seconds to prepare for one. At melee range you get hit by everything and have to prepare to take out her web, move out of the circles and find another spot to hit her if she’s standing in one.
-Frost (cm p1) : at 1500 you don’t get hit by his frost ray. At melee range, you have to keep moving around him to hit him.
-Turmaine (cm p2) : at melee, you get hit his attacks, have to move out of the circles and don’t even have 2 seconds to escape when he transforms. At range, you have to move out of the circle. And keep your distance, but hey, if you’re at 1200, it’s because you don’t have the aggro.

If you want to have motion combat, don’t pretend that firing a bow at maximum distance is the best way and melee is only “sit in front of the boss and 1111111”

There’s a reason why when people suck at an encounter, they put a ranged weapon and fire away.

But why exactly do you like firing a bow at maximum range ? Why not fire it at melee range ? If you know the encounters, know to move around, it won’t really be any different.

Maybe I should have asked which ranged weapon on which class.
Because a staff necromancer doesn’t really have the same combat style of a grenade engineer.

And as dumb as it can sound, do you play at maximum range with a ranged weapon ? For example, when I play with my engi, I don’t go at 1500 to kill monsters. I stay in melee range.

Regarding the last part : think carefully about what your trying to accomplish with your build and ask yourself if you’re doing the most efficiently. Yes you have a lot of options, but what are you really trying to accomplish ?

Oh the number of times I’ve heard elementalists say “I want to heal people so I’m only playing a staff water ele” to which I had to explain that if you want to help your team, killing monsters faster would be more useful than only trying to “heal” them. You can use support skills (blind, weakness, stun, condition removal) without having to sacrifice a large chunk of your damages.

Wow. This really does make me think i should delete my whole account and start a new one that maybe gets the LUCK ROLL. I’m angry, frustrated and thinking the developers should have a better reward system.

Think about this : with all the exotics I get, not a kittening precursor.

I have friends that very rarely get any exotics yet in under a year they got 2 precursors.

It’s like almost winning the lottery every day. Except that you are always missing the last 2 numbers. Over and over again.

I tried the MF. I gave up. Because if 50 major sigils can’t even give me 1 superior, I don’t think I have any chances with obtaining a precursor…but I did get a level 78 weapon from 4 level 80 >.>

One of my favorite bosses is a simple Champ Abomination. I love watching it charge through a crowd, usually downing a dozen or more people. It makes me smile every time and actually keeps me on my toes. I also can’t help but cheer for the champion in a way, because its main victims are those players that are so set in a “melee or bust” mentality. The argument has been made that melee is just better because ranged can’t compare on a DPS level. Well neither does standing in front of a charging rhino on steroids, getting downed, and throwing dirt at said rhino. Another point is made that melee is more effective because of increased risk. Debatable. But I get what you’re saying, stupidity is risky.

It’s been awhile since I’ve fought that champion, but isn’t there a huge tell to his charge ?

But I don’t laugh at people dying repeatedly in melee range during meta events. At first I don’t mind because we all had to learn. After a while it becomes perfectly clear that that kind of player isn’t paying attention to anything.
