EotM maps instead of BL's for one season

It’s only so because you’ve trained yourselves to think of it as a karma map. Think about it competitively for a second before you just rattle off nonsense.

We can think of it whatever way we want. The players over there are using it as a karma train. And can be pretty organized about it.

If you want you can try to disrupt that karma train, but in the end except getting into an argument with them, it won’t change anything since there are multiple copies of EotM and more people interested in doing karma trains than disrupting them.

Armor that actually flatters my character’s body shape instead of giving my female characters disproportionate behinds, compressed breasts and making my male character appear unfit and wearing trousers way too high.

And something where I can actually see the choices I’ve made when creating my charr, norn or sylvari.

There was a lot of complaints regarding Aetherblade Retreat because it was supposedly way too hard. I don’t know if Molten got it too because I didn’t pay any attention back then.

Battle for LA was, like a big chunk of LS1, a huge farm and Marionette was a great way to show how low the playerbase general level actually was.

Doubt it will happen. The amount of kitteniness when people are forced to group with 4 others in order to complete something is too high for them to make that “mistake” again.

The team’s resources are spoken for in areas that will have impact on the most amount of players, or on changes that are less of impact to them, resource-wise (smaller projects/changes). As such, we have no immediate plans to revamp dungeons due to this resource constraint. That’s not to say that the team will never have time, in the future, to do large projects like the TA Aetherpath or similar with other dungeons. As Mike O’Brien said in his recent post, if we ever permanently stop working on a particular area of the game, we will tell you all.

You can take this in extremely hopeful way or not. Was she only mentioning changes to current dungeons ? Then why did she also mention TA Aetherblade. Yes it replaced TAFU, but considering it a revamp is kind of insulting to the team that worked on it seeing how it’s completely different from TAFU.

Anyway, to not derail this thread any further : https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/dungeons/Very-disappointing-news-for-you-guys/page/8

How Many people regularly pug?

RedStar.4218

Eons ago I would PuG AC, SE, CM, CoE, CoF and very rarely Arah.
I stopped because of all the exploits and ranging (don’t make me wear a freaking scepter with my Guardian).

Then, once a lot of exploits were fixed, I gave it a few more tries. And well I’ve had everything. From good to bad players, nice to kittens, quiet or talkative.
But playing roulette got annoying very quickly. The odds of ending up with drama queens and know-it-all kittens got too high so I wait for guildies to be one.

We can do fine with one or two pugs. But having to deal with a level 80 criticizing two level 37 in AC (all 3 random players) when he wasn’t even bringing anything noteworthy was too annoying.

Wizard's Tower In Kessex Hills. New dungeon?

in Lore

RedStar.4218

Completely out of lore : Anet isn’t working on any dungeons. It has been said (more or less, because this is Anet and they won’t tell the community to give up hope) that currently there isn’t any plans whatsoever to do a new dungeon.

But, since they are now doing a checklist for lore and trying to do things that people asked for (even if they ignore some major demands, but this isn’t the place for this) we might end up going there some time soon (or not).

However, if they keep it with the checklist spirit, don’t expect anything grand or amazing or full of lore breakthroughs (and not rectons). With maybe a vague cinematic because they know that whatever cinematic they do, people are going to be happy with all the colors moving around.

Oh and don’t be surprised if Isgarren turns out to be a Sylvari.

Monotonous male armor

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: RedStar.4218

RedStar.4218

Doesn’t matter though, I can give you that females are probably better off, my point is that the variety is limited for everyone, and on a much larger scale than just which gender is skimpier. Look at the first game in comparison: it didn’t matter what gender your character were, you had something for pretty any class stereotype you wanted. Let’s take the warrior for example. Want to look like a total psychopath in dark armor? Core prestige armor, Kurzick armor, Primeval Armor. Want to look like a samurai? Luxon armor. Want to look like a knight? Elite platemail, Elite templar, Elite sunspear. Want to be skimpy? Elite gladiator, skimpy for both genders. And since paragon would be considered an heavy armor class here, you also get looks for roman centurion stuff. This game has nowhere near that variety. Yeah sure I’m picking armors from 3 campaigns and 1 expansion for GW1, but if GW2 is playing the “no expansion, small updates instead” then I think it’s fair to compare it to the first game.

Yeah except for male rangers, mesmers and elementalists. Oh and female elementalists on the opposite side. And female paragons who never got any pants.

But, unlike in GW2, at least the armors, even if they were skimpy or not, did look good.
GW2 has variety, lots of it. But so many armor pieces look so terrible and mix-matching doesn’t really work for some of them.

To put it quite simply, they created achievements to reward you for acquiring stuff you wouldn’t have bothered acquiring otherwise.

In their example, you now get a reward for collecting spoons all across Tyria. You will get AP and a reward. Don’t ask what kind of reward because until it’s out, no one knows.

Now, give us Anise's armor.

in Living World

RedStar.4218

You honestly believe that this armor isn’t available to players because they couldn’t design shoulders and a helm ?

Light armor has some of the least noticeable shoulders and headgear. Apprentice has a tiny golden thing on just one shoulder, just like the Order of Whisper. I’m not even sure what the Exalted shoulders are.
And the headgear could have been a simple stone on the middle of the forehead or feathers or really anything.

I don’t know why it’s not in the game. But “not finished” is bullkitten.

Edit : Actually I now know for sure why it’s not in the game. And why that other dress isn’t either. The skirt (and dress) is part of the torso armor, just like medium armor. So the clipping with light armor skirts would be (even more) ridiculous.

They already stated before that the way they created medium armor torso parts is one of the things that prevents them from allowing mix-match across armor classes.

RedStar.4218

It’s not just “clipping” — it’s out of control textures and dye colors completely wrecking the appearance of the armor.

So unless you want random patches of fuzzy pink leather sitting across your shiny plate chest, this isn’t something you would enjoy as it would actually appear in game.

Right now, with the “correct” pieces, I can already get that. If at least they were consistent and actually didn’t have such major problems in the same weigh class, I wouldn’t kitten . But that’s not the case.

And Anet has locked themselves but doing huge kitten skirts for light and trechcoats galore for medium. So mixing light leggings with medium tops will generally create clipping, but light top and medium leggings won’t have any kind of problem.
If anyone remembers back when we could preview armor and mix them regardless of weigh, you’d remember that some mix matching had so no problems at all.

I think there’s far more problems I’d rather Anet work on then making it so that people can use skins for a different armor class. It would also wreck havoc in WvW and pvp, cause then you couldn’t tell at a glance what armor class they were. You see a norn in light armor, and boom, hammer stun because they’re a warrior.

Outfits.

Which are their solution it seems. Except that it misses the point. They could release 3 times the same outfit for each weigh class with actually separate pieces or make them like the hellfire/radiant pieces.
But that would mean more work, more time, less production, less gems.

Unlike Arah, where if everyone dies at Lupi you might be able to solo it, good luck fighting the last boss when someone decides to constantly kill the holograms and keep ranging the boss which makes the fight floor full of spinning blades.

Clockheart is 100 times easier than lupicus imo. If your group is really bad just let them die, be ready to dodge or block the tier 30 attacks while they die, then solo it. Also ranging it i find clockheart way easier, the spinning blades aren’t random at all, they drop where you are when he growls. Most of the time i am not even facing clockheart, i just “hear” a growl and i just move 2 meters away from my position because a spinning gear will drop there. If you suddenly get torment that just means you are in range of his 180º arc frontal attack.
Clockheart it’s so easy that you don’t need to even see his animations. Just pay attention to the sounds, your conditions and range it like a bearbow would xD.

That said, i gotta admit it’s fun to let them die when they kill holograms out of time

What I meant is that if you’re good, you can solo Lupi while the rest of your team can do whatever the hell they want and it won’t cause you too much problems;
If you’re team wants to make Clockheart a nightmare, they can do it quite easily by filling the room with razors, blowing up the holograms and rather quickly the only safe places will be the platforms. If they don’t have razors on them.

It’s an easy boss. The room however can be turned to hell quite easily, just by having a team who isn’t too aware of what not to do.

The Shatterer.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: RedStar.4218

RedStar.4218

Maybe to try to bring the Shatter somewhere between “so easy half the players can afk” and "so hard you need to really organize everything, you could try to make people a bit more involved in killing it.

For example, turning the Shatterer head is a great idea.
Maybe you could also make his claws more part of the fight because right now, only one of them is being damaged. For example, both claws must be taken down in a short amount of time (not too short as to not force players to bring the best gear/food, but not too long as to force players to really separate into groups instead of taking one claw then the other) while of course the head randomly (key word) attacks players next to a claw.
If the claws aren’t taken down, the Shatter does a huge high damage breath attacks on everyone around. If they are taken down, the Shatterer flies and people have to damage the tail, within a certain time limit. If it fails, big attack, if not, the Shatterer lands and everyone can hit the head for, dealing more damage.

Then from time to time, it spawns crystals but all around it (instead of just in front) and players have to quickly destroy them because they will heal the dragon.

Even if that doesn’t sound really hard, at least it will force players to be way more active than right now.

I tried the bomb kit, but the p2 boss hits super hard >.>
We should train more so those paths aren’t as bothersome, but there’s no point. None of us find any of the paths fun, the bosses have too much health and every other dungeon give at least the same rewards.

I’m almost tempted to change my mind on least favorite to HotW, but I have to keep reminding myself that the only path in CM I can tolerate without wanting to lose my mind is the first one.

I feel like logging out within a minute or two after starting CM P2/P3.

Ask Abe to take you on a pro SC run, I heard they were like Europe’s DnT or something

He invited me to CM the past week and I actually went. I was the only person that wasn’t on teamspeak and it was like my fourth time ever doing P2.

Felt like I was this, to say the least.

4th time ?! Oh you really hate it. Recently we discovered that one of our guildies had been hoarding dungeon tokens. She had more than 20k for CM.

CM is so nice. There are no game breaking bugs, with the right tactics (not necessarily FGS stack) you can turn painful long encounters into short and easy (if no one misses their skills xD).
And you can take pretty much any classes and still be useful.
But don’t do it with 5 mesmers. Oh we got some great laughs out of the ordeal (<3 illusion of life) but it really didn’t go as smoothly as planned (me being a terrible mesmer didn’t help).

I thought engineers had the highest DPS underwater? A friend of mine in rT told me that a few weeks ago I think… with grenades. They could’ve meant that they used to be and got nerfed at some point… I don’t really know. All I’m certain of is that warrior is a freakin’ monster in the water and if I ever go in WvW, the way to make sure that I kill the other person is to jump off the bridge into the water and hope they follow me. An ele, however, is absolutely useless in the water.

Engis can have amazing DPS underwater. If the grenades manage to hit the boss. For some reason, mine wouldn’t last time we did it. Well only 1 out of 3 grenades manage to get to the boss.
It got to the point where I did more DPS when I was downed >.>

We tried to make the boss sink so even grenades that missed him would at least explode close to him, but we hard a time achieving that.

If they simply wanted to remove key farming it would have been much easier for them to remove the key from the L10 story reward and assign it to a much later story reward. I think there is more to the reason behind this change than just to nuke key farming.

They couldn’t pass this change in a feature update. So they took a little detour to.

This is a feature patch and not a content patch, so I’m not even kittening about not having new dungeons, or new WvW maps or new skins (hell we’re getting 2 new sets, unfortunately, from the data mines, they still seem to miss the point of our complaints regarding light and medium armor).

To give Anet some credit, a lot of the stuff that’s being include are things we’ve been asking for a year or two.
Except that they are only doing some of them.

-Out of the dozen of things we asked regarding WvW we get : account bound color tags. Not even more commanding options, anything related to /squad and /supply info. Nope, just colored tags, a mastery that we’ve known about for months and a new trick that will change WvW for a week or two before everything settles down.
Nothing about PvD, PPT and zergs.

-We’ll have to wait and see how the Megaserver changes are going to appease some of the complaints.

-No more dungeon owner. But what about abusing /kick ?

-We’ve had a long discussion on the lack of tutorial in this game, especially regarding combo fields, and we get : an arrow to point new players where to go…

-The skill balance may be the only thing worth seeing, but when they imply that Necromancers do not have enough survivability, we can already give up on seeing improvements for dungeon plays.

If you want to guess what’s going to be announced next week, check year old threads that could be sort of related to trading and collecting and pick the least important changes. Then try to write them in a way to complete hype it. Because that’s what we’re getting.

Like for example, the trading post will now have more advanced options so you can actually filter light armor only. Or the taxes will clearly be mentioned (don’t ever think that they are going to remove them).

You must be an undercover ANet employee trying to infiltrate our ranks in order to collect information to brin back to your superiors.

Why would I be in the dungeon sub-forum if that was the case :p (oh I kid, I kid. We did have some attention recently. Let’s see how far that goes though).

The Shadow of the Dragon is an example of retcon. Originally it referred to Zhaitan, now it’s either referring to Mordy or just generally to EDs.
The reason you fight the Shadow of the Dragon in the dream is because it’s your Wyld Hunt. The Wyld Hunt is given to Sylvari in the dream. The same way you can also dream about unicorns and knights.

Now I’m not dismissing the possible connection between the Sylvari and Mordy (we simply don’t know at this point).

Not so much a retcon but more a misintepretation. Now one knew about Mordy at this time and your Character only said, that you saw a dragon, not what kind of dragon this was.

The chars only thought it was referred to Zhaitan because they didn’t know better.

It was also speculated that this dragon was not related to Zhaitan but to Mordy who is the “Jungle Dragon”

With how the Pale Tree seems to completely not be surprised when we tell her that Mordremoth is awake, I’m pretty sure she knew about it for quite a while.

Now, give us Anise's armor.

I just really hope it’s a set and not a freaking outfit.

Time for a tiny bit of history.

Once upon a time, when GW2 was still in development we got a blog post talking about armor and dyes. During it, it was mentioned that Anet used GW1 armor for inspiration and we got a comparison between GW1’s Mesmer Elite Kurzick and GW2’s version (what would end up being Anise’s armor).

Then during the Mesmer reveal, Anet dared to tease us with this mesmer wearing this armor http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=Wlr3g3yZZVk#t=104

Comes the game and nobody can find it. The only trace of it is a reworked version on Anise and Anet has been silent ever since.

A few months ago a code was found for this armor.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/lore/human/Anise-Armor-Item-Code
It only works on human females.

Up to this day, I still believe that the kitteniness of “Armor is armor, we don’t want kittentail dresses and skirts !” that started on gw2guru is the reason why this armor and another one (the one the mesmer concept art wears) isn’t available to players.
