Oh wow, they really gave up on having a dedicated dungeon team haven’t they ?
By the time you get 51k of dragonite and empyreals, you’ll probably have 51k of bloodstone.
I thought spider queen always did AoE damage even when stacked? Its just usually there are so many condition cleanses going on, it’s hard to tell. CoF p1? Which part? We need specifics, just saying HoTW trolli s now AC troll, doesn’t really tell us much. Unless you are refering to the model that is being used.
you obviously dont even do dungeons then
I do dungeons all the time. and if IIRC I know I’ve seen the spider queens AoE while stacked. Please don’t make insulting assumptions. As far as HoTW troll is AC troll, are you saying that it functions in the same way? That the mechanics are the same? I am confused by what you mean by that statement.
I used to think like you regarding the AC spider, but then had to admit I was wrong when people showed me videos of players soloing the Queen in the middle of the room, in melee range, without getting one single circle on them.
The common element that was ruining that was mesmer clones, which a friend got a kick out of doing to PuGs stacking on the pillar (since the clone will move out of melee range, the spider will spit her poison around).
As for HotW, I personally didn’t try it, but guildies told me that his mechanics are the same as AC troll.
Welcome to a month+ back.
Try digging for information regarding this and sending a support ticket after.
If they fix exploits, it’s not too bothersome if they don’t include them in notes.
But if they tweak bosses (or even fix their AI, but for Anet, they aren’t fixing their AI because everything is working as intended) or add a door somewhere, it’d be nice to get a warning.
Just wondering why Orr needs to be fixed?
Yes we killed Zhaitan in the PS and begun the cleansing of Orr. However if it were to be cleansed than new players arriving in Orr would find a cleansed/healing Orr, and that wouldn’t line up with what was going on in the PS. From what I understand is that the open world is locked in time. Orr is locked in a state pre defeat of Zhaitan and the PS. If you were to have a cleansed Orr you’d have to have a whole seperate map just for those who have completed the PS and killed Zhaitan. And there wouldn’t be much to do there anyway. None of the DEs would apply, The temples would no longer be under Zhaitans control, so no need to take them, etc. It would quickly become a dead zone after the PS. No reason to “fix” it as it’s not really broken.
Except for one thing : the living story. It has the magical power of making time flow in the zone affected by it. How much time ? Well it’s been up for debate I think.
And there’s already been some problems with LS vs PS. “Oh no Zhaitan is going to attack LA…oh wait, it’s already wrecked”.
ANet tried to keep the LS away from the PS to avoid confusing new players. Except that it limited their choices and forced them to create Marjorie etc. to replace Destiny’s Edge. And it still confused new players.
Hopefully they won’t do the same mistake with season 2.
It’s because of WvW Season 2. Matches are determined by the amounts of points your server has. Points are scored 5 for 1st 3 for 2nd and 1 for 3rd. So if your sever is losing constantly then your points are not accumulating high enough to move to the blue color.
Jade Quarry was Blue for the last 4 weeks of the tournament, someone is feeding you bad info. It’s just bad RNG as far as i can tell.
I think that during those last 4 weeks, JQ was blue because :
-It had less tournament points than TC
-When they had the same amounts, TC had more ratings.
While being able to see something in the wardrobe or the TP doesn’t mean it’s available, not being able to see it in both means without a doubt that it’s not available.
Oh when I say “chest” I mean from lower abs to upper chest xD. Because if a man is showing off his chest, he’s more than probably going shirtless or open shirt (else it looks kind of weird).
:D No redefining anatomy! That’s just being cheeky. You mean the trunk (or torso).
Oh thank you ! I couldn’t remember those two words xD.
Yes you can. File a support ticket.
That’s rather misleading.
It depends on how long s/he has owned it and how many hours s/he has played it. There is a limit.
I know. But since I’m not the one who wants to do this, I won’t bother looking for information for that person.
I’m just telling him that it’s possible.
Yes you can. File a support ticket.
A lot of what I saw wasn’t just the bare chest alone. It was that old Apollo’s Belt I’m always asking to see in GW2 that hints of stuff I probably can’t discuss here. The bare chest is completed with this, and this is why there should be a few pairs of trousers with an actual lower rise so this can be seen. It should work for lady toons too, for those so inclined. I’d actual just redesign the harem pants this way as an optional craftable at level 20, or whatever it is (not throwing the original out, mind). Regardless, it’d be thinking in V.
Oh when I say “chest” I mean from lower abs to upper chest xD. Because if a man is showing off his chest, he’s more than probably going shirtless or open shirt (else it looks kind of weird).
I think there’s only one legging that has shows off the Apollo’s Belt for male heavy. It’s the sylvari T1, which my guardian is wearing. Unfortunately, from behind it goes really high above the buttocks.
Oops forgot the argos links are kind of bad when trying to link specific outfits. But I see which one you meant.
And my point is : there’s not that much stupidly skimpy outfits.
The profane disaster is one of them (one of the very few necro outfit I never bought in GW1, and in GW2 they went one step further to make sure it never reaches my inventory), I find the Embroidered pants to have completely unnecessary holes and the top would look more appealing if it was similar to Jasmine.
The poofy skirt is probably the Masquerade set which does look stupid. It should have been covered.
But in the end, out of 42 sets, you linked 3. At best you could link something like 17. That leaves quite a lot of sets that no one can consider stupidly skimpy. But some of them look stupid nonetheless.
Of course, compared to male sets, that’s infinitely more. But anyone kittening at the amounts of skimpy sets versus non skimpy options needs to realize that their problem doesn’t lie with skimpy vs non skimpy but with how generally bad the renders and some designs are.
A bare chest on a man isn’t the same as exposed breasts. And neither is exposed buttocks. You simply cannot compare them. Bare chests are a sexual symbol.
Type “sexy guy” in goggle search chests, chests, chests.
Except that for some reason, in certain countries, men without a shirt on are just chilling and women without a top are being kittens.
Personally, I don’t give a kitten about either.
Why it’s a bad thing – it’s sexualizing women and women’s bodies while men’s bodies aren’t treated the same way. If men had testicle windows, garter belts, high heels, and tiny skirts as part of most of their armor sets, I’m pretty sure no one would care about female designs with the same sort of skin showing features.
I voted for more non-skimpy and by non skimpy, I mean no freaking boob cups, boob windows, or other crap that screams look at my T&A. I can’t tell you how much light armor I can’t see my toons using because it’s stupid skimpy. You can compare sets all you like – if it’s not readily available by crafting, vendor, or trading post then it’s a specialty armor you’re going to either have to spend gems on or buy and those aren’t the crap you’re stuck in until level 60. Unless you have a large wardrobe and plenty of transmute charges, prepare to look awful in either the garter belt mage get up or as a harem girl or with a huge poofy skirt.
Testicles = Breasts ? If you are going to compare thing at least compare what can be compared. Exposed genitalia is bad for both genders.
But I’m interested in what outfits you are labeling “garter belt” skirt and actually how many outfits are stupidly skimpy.
Here’s a link with all armor available in the game http://argos-soft.net/GW2/ArmorGallery/index.php?lang=en&color=10&race=2&w=1&sex=1
Edit : There’s one garter belt gem shop outfit. But you make it seem like there’s more.

Some rare and uncommon drops in the drop table would’ve been welcome. They wouldn’t even have to be anything valuable. Only extreme rares is just no fun. Opening hundreds upon hundreds of the chances and never getting anything other than a single festival token, that’s just frustrating.
That’s how pretty much everything in this game is when it comes to RNG : either you get something kind of terrible or something really good.
But they did take it to an extreme with the chances…ONE token…You can’t even buy a ticket back with one freaking token. Or two. Or three.
To be it bit clearer, because when you say “skimpy” people immediately assume “almost naked”.
I want my male mesmer to have exposed arms. How many tops can I choose ?
-From shoulder to wrist : 3 (4 with cultural)
-A little less exposed : 3
I want to be able to see at least part of his neck : 14
Now let’s do it with my female necromancer :
arms : 9 tops. The other 30+ tops cover (or nearly fully cover) the arms.
legs : 16.
I’m not asking for a swim suit. But at least something that doesn’t look like my character is going to die from over heating on a regular summer day…And that looks good on them.
And let’s just give up on medium armor. When you find a top that exposed the arms you have to deal with the coat/skirt that comes with it.
I simply wanted to point out that it would be easier to necro an older thread which contained more information and hypothesis instead of starting an other one and coming up with the same thing.
But I’ll admit that I’m bad a searching. And also lazy at it.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/lore/lore/The-globe-of-Tyria-a-total-mess
There’s already been a lot of discussion regarding this. Search the forums a little and you’ll find them.
i think charr as well need some more options with less clothes, designed around their charachter, they have fur/designs, and mostly they throw themselves in useless human focused gears which tend to make them look odd, instead of designs which accentuate their strengths.
I think Charrs are the most frustrating. You spent time carefully creating your character, only to have nearly every armor set cover all of your choices. At least for other races you have some sort of acceptable options. But for Charr…not only do you have to find something a least a bit revealing, but also something that fits with a Charr.
And so far, well I’m glad I only have 1 Charr because I can’t even find something for him.
There is no reason for them to be concerned with this, since the only thing stopping those people from getting it is themselves. They chose not to make more characters, they’re not restricted from it. Everyone get 5 slots base.
And yet so many things in this game are account bound, making sure that players who have alts do not have any sort of advantages over players who do not (like event chests, daily crafting, dungeon rewards). The only thing nice they did for alt was make ascended account bounds (which didn’t ever bother players who played a single character).
So Anet giving exclusive rewards the more alt you have ? It’s very unlikely to happen.
But it’s useless to have this debate. Last year everyone and every alt got the exact same thing. This year it’s going to be the same.
A lot of things
I’m going to (sort of) agree to disagree. I feel that a lot of options you’re giving are a tad too feminine.
It seems that for men sexiness there’s 2 or more different kinds (as if things weren’t already complicated with that) : sexy to be appealing for men, for women or for both. But hey, more options is better !
Except, butt jiggle…If my guardian’s butt jiggles as much as my necromancer breasts when wearing certain tops, I won’t be able to watch him run seriously.
As for corsets, there are two main types for men : mostly a woman corset on a men, or what I really call men corsets. While women corsets aim to give an hourglass shape (small waist, bigger breasts), men corsets aim to give a more muscular look by giving the torso a more define V shape, larger shoulders and a flat stomach.
Personally I disagree with the above belief that apparently only women are “sexy” when showing their bodies and men are not. Actually kittenes me off a bit.
I have always loved armor styles like gladiator armor. Characters in the 300 movies or Spartacus series come to mind.
I didn’t say that men can’t be sexy when showing off their bodies…I said that they don’t have a lot of design choices to do it.
For the upper body it’s either :
-shirtless
-open shirt/jacket
-open mini shirt/jacket
-something covering one pec
-a belt going diagonally
For lower :
-pants
-shorts
-gladiator skirt
For women you take all of the above, plus add different kind of neckline, lacing, frills, design difference, etc. You could try to put it on men, but those things are too feminine to go nicely on a masculine men.
And yep, I was thinking of Apollo’s belt.
I would like to see a box containing a completely new set of weapon skins that we get to choose from that you can only get on the 2nd year bday gift.
Anet doesn’t want players to shout “unfair ! I don’t have any alts so I can’t get more than 1 skin”. So it won’t happen.
I’m sure that if we asked the right groups of people, we could get some very viable options for making male characters sexy and also collect good data on body parts of men that appeal to women and men into dudes. Not playing the realism card, just refuting the “impossible” claim against male avatar sexiness and skimpyness.
I’m not saying men can’t be sexy. But while women have dozens of choices to be sexy and skimpy, men don’t have too much.
They have few choices to be sexy, and even fewer to be sexy and skimpy without being borderline “ADULT ONLY”.
But Anet could do a bit sexier pants by making them a bit more low-rise or at least making the character wear the pants more “inclined” (can’t really explain that) instead of straight around the waist.
This is just typical behavior in games without subscription fees, have you ever visited the League of Legends forums?
I’m assuming there’s more whining there because more children play LoL . Grownups don’t whine, they provide feedback.
I doubt children spend too much time on forums and writing 200+ words complain posts.
Maybe it’s because I hang around the beach way too much, but I don’t see someone wearing a regular swim suit to be sexualized.
I don’t know how to correctly explain it but skimpy doesn’t really equates to being sexualized. It’s what the clothing is trying to draw attention to that makes it.
A swim suit is just there to be practical and not be arrested by cops. A mini skirt, with fishnet stockings is there to say “available”.
Ivy’s outfits (from Soul Calibur) cover far more than a plain 2 piece swim suit, yet it’s incredibly more sexualized than it.
As for guys, people rarely focus on their legs. And there’s only so much you can do to make a male character sexy.
Try doing a google search with “sexy girl” and “sexy dude”. For women you get dresses, skirts, shirts, corsets, lingerie, etc. For men you get shirtless with pants, shirtless with shorts, shirtless with boxers, shirtless with open shirt.
And before someone thinks about reading between the lines : I find that FFIV armor as ridiculous for women and for men. Same for that metal gear outfit (why the hell would you wear a top…). But I wouldn’t care that much if it was added. But it won’t ever be.
I don’t want a swimsuit armor. Hell, if I wanted to I’d wear the backless, strapless, barely covering your nipples top with the mini mini skirt.
I want GW1 light and medium armor back. It didn’t make my character look disproportionate nor did it look like it weighed a ton. It simply looked good (for some. Some of them were terrible but at least I had enough choice, unlike in GW2 where I can barely find 1).
Don’t worry, you’ll get the same mini pet as every one else and each of your characters and also another experience scroll because hey, if you didn’t use the first 8, getting 8 more can’t hurt.
But, there will be new and exciting stuff in the gem shop that day !
Making skimpy outfits for the sake of skimpy is a terrible way to design armor. Trying to copy and paste the same outfit for both genders is also a terrible decision.
What looks appealing on a woman rarely looks as appealing on a man.
If you want to do something sexy on a female character you try to focus on doing something appealing regarding breasts and hips. If you want to do something sexy for male characters you try to focus on their muscles.
If you give a short skirt to a female character it’s either considered sexy or kittenty. If you give a short short to a male character, people will never see it as kittenty, rarely as sexy but generally as something weird.
If you give a tank top to a female character, giving a tank top to a male character just looks out of place. Give him an open shirt (like GW1 ritualist vabbian, they got that one right).
It’s not a matter of skimpy or not. Especially in GW2.
Nearly all armor sets have the same, terrible problem : bad in-game rendering. Nearly every piece of fabric look really heavy. And for some of them, I can’t even make out what kind of material it’s supposed to be (like the light order of whisper skirt).
Then you have unflattering renders, giving female characters disproportionate hips (seer, heritage, stately, zodiac).
Then you have a lot of skirts, but very few full skirts. Some appear to be mini skirts in front, and long skirt behind.
And what’s really weird is how most fabrics seem to be stuck, which doesn’t help in making the armor look good on characters.
I don’t care if it’s skimpy or not, I want my character to look good. And with the current light armor design, I can only find 1 single armor combination I’m happy with.
And for male, I can’t even find one…thanks to all those back skirts…but after 2 years, I doubt it’s going to go away.
Just like medium top covering the legs are not going to go away. You don’t see people wearing the same 2-3 medium tops because they are skimpy, but because they are mostly the only pieces not covering the legs front and behind.
Just like the Tribal set, I’m pretty sure that for now there is no way to acquire that set anymore.
When will they fix it ? Well they’ve known about this for 2 years…
Remember Final Rest being bugged but Anet never admitting it? Probably same situation here.
Now now, you forgot an important detail. They sent us chasing it without fixing the bug…
Are we even playing the same game ?
I don’t know how many times I’ve had to tell people to actually look at all armor pieces before saying bullkitten like “nearly all female sets are skimpy”.
How about never doing a third season ?
Unless they fix all (or at least most) of the things that are wrong and have been brought up countless times.
But that will probably never happen.
Yet I’m sure that by the end of the year, we’ll have a season 3…
You can rant, pout and insult all you like. But most dungeons do take less time and skill than about any other aspect in the game , yet pay out considerably more. That hardly seems a good thing.
But I am sorry if that upsets your tinfoil hats, or “I hate this game/company yet continue to play!” sensibilities.
Oh wow I nearly chocked on my food when I read this.
Less time and skill that’s about any other aspects ? Yeah because meta events in PvE are really hard these days, and farming EotM is really hard to do…
What would be nice however, is for Anet to once and for all fix all those little bugs and bad AI in their dungeons.
I used to have a problem with the number of skirts vs pants for light armor in GW2. Then I realized that my problem lies with how Anet is barely capable at doing a slender skirts or nice pants.
The skirts either give your character a disproportionate large behind or hips, and the pants look like they can only fit a 14 year old anorexic girl.
Then they have a problem with adding tights with skirts, or a piece of cloth between the legs (I completely forgot how that’s called).
But as weird as it is, while they have a problem designing nice, slender skirts/pants, they don’t seem to have a problem taking a swim suit top as an armor piece. I don’t have a problem with choice, but wearing a swim suit top with an overly large skirt doesn’t look good.
And I don’t really quite get this problem in GW2, because if I’m not mistake Kristen Perry plays a large part in Armor design in GW2. And she designed some pretty amazing set in GW1.
But I also think there’s a problem from concept art to in-game rendering. Some concept art look very nice and they end up being way too bulky in-game.
However, after nearly 2 years, I’ve given up any kind of hope of seeing something different : light armor will always get bulky skirt or terrible pants and medium armor will always get trench coats
Fractal skins are a rare drop precisely because they are not meant for casuals. They are meant for the players who regularly run fractals every day.
It’s not because it has terrible RNG that casual players can’t get it. It simply means that unlucky people will have to do it more while lucky players can do it once.
Just like nearly everything else in this game with the big difference being that unlucky players can buy most things to make up for not being lucky.
I’m sorry, but getting those LS skins wasn’t hard. At best it was time consuming, but most LS skins that were awarded by completing the achievements were not challenging.
But you are right about the rest : Anet is settling to handing most things on a plate and putting the rest on the gem store. They are aiming for a playerbase that doesn’t want to think too much when playing a game (and with all the QQ threads whenever a new LS used to come out, it’s no wonder they think their playerbase is generally bad).
Trial and error will teach how to get around those problems. What works for me is taking the long way instead of using the lightning skills whenever I can. And I don have too many problems finishing in the top 3.
http://www.guildwars2guru.com/topic/47404-how-big-is-the-ignore-list-blocked-list/
If you don’t want to click, back in the beta someone tried to find the cap and they had this to say :
" tested the block list yesterday and managed to block over 270 people before time ran out. The limit is probably 500 (same as guild limit) or more (1k?). Needs further testing.
stress test 6 edit: If my calculations are right I managed to block over 500 guys. Having (600+) players in friend/block list (combined?) will cause lag on low-end systems and because of that I don’t want to test it further on this laptop. In the end it took 30 seconds to open the contacts list. "
Yep that’s what I was getting at, in the end it’s pretty much a random guess. It sometime works, it sometime doesn’t.
Best way to avoid that is join a guild or build a dungeon list.
But I won’t lie, we (guildies) do get different reactions depending on AP :
-low : we’ll probably explain things without the player having to ask for anything
-middle (3-10) : we’ll assume he sort of knows what to do
-high : we might cringe a little. From our experience we’ve found that there’s much more players in this group compared to the middle/low groups who think they are the best at everything (be it true or not) and won’t take any sort of criticism.
However low AP players are generally nice and sometime quite timid. Even if they aren’t really good they seem to be more likely to listen to tips.
Try telling someone with 15k points that he doesn’t really know how to play his main character in a particular dungeon and you’ll probably get a “shut up, you noob. I’ve done this a million times”.
Idiots exist everywhere, but it’s incredibly more painful to tell someone with high AP that they don’t really know how to play.
So in the end, we don’t use AP as a way to measure skill. We use it as a way to determine how susceptible a player might be, coupled with quite a lot of other things.
As much as /resign might sound attractive, I can’t help but remember Red resign...
Are they an indicator of something, time spent in game, that has the potential to lead to increased skill ? Yes.
So basically in the end, it means pretty much nothing. Joining a PuG is like playing the lottery.
Way too much RNG in this game.
It’s not that too many things are random drops. It’s that the random drop rate is incredibly terrible.
Take champion boxes : every once in a while you’ll get a 40s rare. Maybe every 50 box you’ll get a 1g worth rare, or if you are lucky 2g ! For ascended you can think of thousand. You can pretty much think of getting a precursor as likely as being hacked…
And the rest of the time ? 3s worth of blues/greens.
And it’s not limited to champion boxes, it’s pretty much in everything else.
Of course, someone else will come and say “well I got 40 ascended from champion boxes and I don’t even play that much”, do which I’ll say “good for you, you’re lucky, I’m not”.
It’s like people getting 3 Plague recipes and 5 other dungeons recipes while some people still don’t know such a thing exists or even think it’s fake…
It’s either “lucky” or “terrible” with barely nothing in the middle.
Don’t go there. You can’t win. Seriously, don’t even try.
Oh so that’s how GW1 looks…Everyone keeps saying how they like GW1 armor better but…let’s just say I don’t see it. :S
I don’t think people are asking for exact copies of GW1 armour, at least I hope not anyway. I think what people would like, myself included, are revamped (using GW2 tech) armour and weapons, that resemble GW1 armour as best as possible, but with updated models and texture to suit the look of GW2.
GW1 did have some cool looking armour and I would love to see some of it revamped in GW2.
The first you must always ask yourself is : can you imagine how that armor would look on a Charr ?
At least i think that the existence of Charr as playable race is one of the main reasons we don’t have more armor sets since it costs the designer maybe 3-4 times more to make it fit to them.
Do we really want to go there ? I mean, there’s quite of number of armor where Anet didn’t too much efforts to fit them nicely for Charr. Or try to fit them at all…I think even some racial sets clip with the tails…
We have quite a lot of armor sets. But personally, I have quite a lot of trouble finding more than 2 combinations that I like my characters….While in GW1 I had trouble choosing less than 3 (my necromancer switched constantly between 7 sets and it took me years to create a mesmer because I’d go broke buying pretty much every set).
You know why people have this fascination ? Because GW2 was advertised to have housing.
GW2 was advertised to have a lot of things that for some obscure reason has still not been added to the game. But people who believed in Anet decided to believe Anet’s “we’re working on it” and bought the game because they enjoy other aspects of the game. But they still want what was advertised.
That’s why, some people complain about things that were advertised but didn’t make it/were taken out of.
And then there’s people that doesn’t get how hype works and link the manifesto video whenever they can because they they took to the letter what Anet was saying. But that’s a different story.
What Anet didn’t ever advertised were mounts, raids and vertical progression.
Yet we got a little bit of one of them, some consider teq and wurm to be raids and who knows, pretty soon we’ll get mounts…
Basically Anet advertised some things to get some buyers, then they implemented other things to get more buyers.
(edited by RedStar.4218)
Yep, someone finished it and reported the terrible news.
Oooohhh I was thinking that maybe we had a misunderstanding xD.
Lol, wurm has never been about the rewards. If you do not like this, then Im sorry, but you might want to try to do something else that gives better rewards during your playtime.
Of course it has never been. Because the rewards suck.
But then again, rewards in this game don’t make any sense. Some mind numbing things are more rewarding than harder things. Dungeon cash reward doesn’t make any sense. RNG is king of everything else.
And the most rewarding thing is to not play the game but have “fun” with the TP.
yea but the purpose of that skin who is called exotic is just to gamble on mystic forge for a precursor chance :P
No the reward track final reward isn’t an exotic, it’s a skin. For example, if you finish the kryta track, you don’t get to choose a ceremonial item with exotic stats, you get to choose which ceremonial skin you want, with no stats at all.
Kind of like when you buy a gem shop armor or most black lion weapons : you get a skin with no stats.
