Isn’t there a gay relationship with 2 sylvari in the personal story (I’m not talking about Caithe and Faolain).
I guess that a male/male relationship is harder to write because they have to be extremely careful to not offend anyone while at the same time developing both character and their relationship.
Personally, I found the Kasmeer/Marjory love to be somewhat out of place. I mostly saw Marjory as a big sister for Kasmeer. And once their love was out, it twisted that sister relationship to Marjory being too caring for Kasmeer, which at the same time became too dependent on Marjory.
I’m not saying it was badly written. I’m saying that personally I didn’t like the direction it took and the subsequent changes of both characters.
But to come back to the point : gay relationships are probably harder to correctly write and as annoying as it is, let’s not forget that Today’s society is more likely to not mind a lesbian relationship compared to a male/male couple.
Why did you need to do something like that ? That point has already been proven countless of times : unless you want an infinite hairstylist or you stumbled upon a black lion key, it’s generally a bad investment to use gems to buy keys to open chests for a chance at something that can be bought on the TP.
And the drop table for those chests is appalling :
-an essence of luck : woot ! How nice to use a key to get something I could have gotten by salvaging a few blues
-a scroll of knowledge : how nice, not like most players have dozen of those around
-a tome of knowledge : yeah real useful considering how Anet seems to make us remember with each updates that rewards/timer work per account and not per character (and I have all 8 professions, with 7 at max level in exotic/ascended (not full ascended since once again, a lot all of time gates are per account)).
-300 guild influence…that’s 60 silver
-a dye or 2 ! so 40-50 silver
-the mystery tonics, which thankfully now aren’t a guaranteed drop
And I’m not going to mention the rest that I do personally find useless (such as most boosters) because that chest is the only source for those items (even if once again, some are pretty terrible).
So you have to go through all of that crap to maybe get what you desire from those chests. Yes I’m “happy” (I guess) that some people do open them so I can buy the weapons skins I want on the TP (which to this day amounts to 3), but I’d be happier if those chests weren’t basically preying on people’s stupid addiction for gambling for shinies and rewarding them with something even a Skritt wouldn’t want. Or if you could buy directly what you want on the gem store.
But it won’t happen because if they do so, they can’t overpriced them too much. 600 gems, the cost of Kasmeer’s Staff is roughly 6 BLK. As anyone can testify, every 6 BLK you aren’t even getting a ticket claim.
So stop trying to prove a point. That point has already been proven. Just save your cash and buy them on the TP. And with rising gems to gold prices, it will even be better to do so.
Why did you open 50 BLC if you wanted the weapon skins ? Why not simply buy them on the TP for 100g (was the price yesterday, and I’m sure it’s going to go down like every BLC skin) by selling the gems ?
Not playing the insanity card with that psychopath who shall not be named (that thing deserves nothing but OBLIVION) and having her suddenly switch sides and become an ally. I would have most likely quit playing the game if that were to happen.
They did worse. They played the “we don’t care for her motives and you’ll just going to have to guess” card. That’s kind of like playing the insanity card.

I’ll answer a couple of these questions. First off, while she knew that the intersection of ley lines was somewhere in Lions arch, she needed the probes to find out exactly where the intersection is. It’s like knowing a building is in New York, but you still need a map to find it. The probes created the map she needed.
Is it explicitly mentioned ? (Don’t take it badly xD, I know I’m asking questions and when you give me an answer, I kitten about it xD).
I just find it so strange. To take back your example, in her case the map she got was a map of the whole world. Her energy probes were all over the place. I can understand how, with so many of them all over the world, she found that LA was a ley lines intersection, but I find it quite strange from her (especially her) to have known that LA was her target yet she needed a few hundreds of probes all over Tyria to confirm that guess.
Edit : I love your posts Konig, thank you for those answers

Mentioning “E” reminds me that all the different part of the living story are supposed to all tie in together in the end. So excluding Wintersday, Halloween and SAB, we are left with Southsun and maybe the Zephyrite (they do seem to know a bit about dragons, but you can say that their only link was the election of Kiel).
Southsun, Canach, the toxins and maybe the karkas. I guess we could tie it to the jungle dragon, but it’d be nice to get an outright confirmation on that instead of making it another guess that might someday turn out to be false.
Forgive me for my lack of knowledge on all of it, but now that it’s almost over (I doubt the epilogue will give that much information) can I ask : why ?
Why did she do all of that ?
I’m not asking “why she woke up a dragon” but why did she went through all that trouble ?
What was the point of gathering all those armies ? Why build the Marionette and try it out in Lornar ?
If she knew that she was going to invade Lion’s Arch, why did she bother with the thumpers in the first place ? I doesn’t seem like the she knew it was somewhere in LA because she placed them all over the world, even way up north in Jormag’s (supposed) territory.
Sure maybe she wanted to be extremely careful (which is unlikely since we kind of foiled her plans each and every time) in case she needed an army, but why ? For all she knew back then, the ley line hotspot could have been where no one cares for (like in the Woodland cascades, I’m sure the Quetzal could have been easily taken care of).
If LA was the target from day one, it does make some sort of sense. But the amount of thumpers she laid all over Tyria don’t seem to go that way.
So what did I miss (I’m pretty sure there’s something) ?
And also : so, what was the deal with Caithe ?
Did you notice that one of the map shows that she had thumpers way up north ? In the Woodlands, Far Shiverpeaks and even Blood legion homeland.
lets start a treasure hunt of some sort like we did when we all were searching for the Final Rest.
I don’t know if that’s a good example…It wasn’t found because it was bugged and they led us on a chase which resulted in some players doing the Zho’qafa event quite a lot of time. Until one day they did an update and it started dropping from one of the most commonly farmed Meta event boss.
There was Wings of Dwayna that remained a mystery for more time than all other weapons. But by now, I’m pretty sure every weapon skin has been found.
I might fall in that category.
I want that armor for my charr but without the blue hue.
But what bothers me isn’t that it’s too revealing, it’s that it exaggeratedly accentuates the breasts. If the character was naked, the outline of her bosom wouldn’t be like that clear.
I doubt they’ll remove the blue skin anyway, because without the female character nipples would be exposed.
Maybe because it will clip with quite a lot light/medium armor due to their skirts/coats.
But I think there has been official word on this, but I don’t know where to start searching for the quote :/
No, we need LESS of this. My ele is the only character i have in a semi-skimpy outfit, and that is just because 99% of the light armors are either skimpy, or just plain ugly. The game needs more decent looking light armor sets that aren’t revealing.
I agree that 99% of the light armor are plain ugly. But skimpy ? Look again and count.
Our of all the light armor there are :
-13 tops that fully cover the upper body
-26 tops that show some skin (most of them being pretty tame) with only 9 that can be honestly considered skimpy
-9 leggings that show a bit of the legs with only 3 that can be considered skimpy
-11 set that cover the entire body
Making something skimpy just to be skimpy is dumb. They could have gave us a covered version all the way to the breasts for the Masquerade set, but nope they had to create a half skirt with exposed panties and sides… (Then again, nearly all light armor skirts are so big in the rear that you can carry a school of Quaggan babies on it).
Plenty of female pants show leg skin, I’d say far too many (not because I’m a prude, but because it’s ridiculous how many scantily clad women are everywhere, completely breaks immersion).
Let’s go through most armor in the game (excluding racials and gem shop) :
-12 for light (And I’m counting even that )
-1 for medium (yep it’s the vigil)
-5 or 6 for heavy (wiki didn’t have all the images)
Out of 31 sets for each class. Yep too many armor shows legs. Now I didn’t say that “skin = oh my god don’t let children see that” and “covered = everything’s fine” because once again, you don’t need to be skimpy to be inappropriate.
Personally I don’t find that putting a pair of tights makes anything more appropriate. Just like the new zodiac armor don’t show any skin, yet I do find them more sexualized than the T3 underboob.
Title says it all. Will we ever get these ANet? It’s getting tiresome to keep seeing the same trend with each release-
New gem store items! New set of armor, new set of weapons, new harvesting tool, new finisher!
I appreciate the fact that you want to make money and all, but it’s getting old.
Oh don’t worry, pretty soon I’m sure we’ll be able to acquire in-game a :
-breathing mask
-backpack (hey let’s not forget those dozens of backpack that were released in under a year)
-gloves
-boots
-helmet
Hope you aren’t expecting a full set, because might as well expect bar brawl to finally become playable ^^.
I don’t ever want a repeat of Kiel/Evon because they tied specific content to each of them. Content that had absolutely nothing to do with that election.
If it didn’t have the fractals tied to them, it would have been fine.
I still consider some dungeons to be tutorials by telling you to use certain skills in order to survive.
Unfortunately, people aren’t willing to learn. They either exploit or rely on others in order to get through the dungeons/event.
Anet could try to create an extensive tutorial but most players are going to skip it. Even if they force us to do it, they can’t include a part where they say that a guardian staff might not be the best weapon to use for 95% of the run.
Guardians are the best choice to tag people. I’ve tried all 8 classes, not a single one comes close to the ease a guardian has tagging everything in sight. Even in WvW.
As for the rest, I’ll let people more knowledgeable on eles answer.
Oh that’s how I call the temple events xD.
I regularly use it (well not so much this week) and I never saw a bug. It might be dumb and don’t get offended, but are you correctly aiming at the downed player ?
http://us.gw2stuff.com/ this site is better because it gives you more details and also shows the other events which award dragonite ores (Ogre wars and Mega Destroyer do not award dragonite ores).
You can also get 3-4 buddies to complete the god’s event. It won’t take that much longer, but it will be a bit harder.
I tried to be interested in the lore, like I was in GW1, but there’s barely any point. They tweaked/minimized (or used the infamous “No we didn’t retcon, it’s just that the NPC who told you that wasn’t all-knowing. In fact you can’t take anything we say for granted”) a lot of GW1 lore and the most interesting bits of GW2 lore aren’t even learned in the game. You learn them by reading short stories on the websites, or through interviews.
And that whole Scarlet thing is terrible. It’s like they ask us to complete a 10 000 pieces puzzle yet they only give us 1 piece every two weeks…
I do the LS events when I can, but I have no idea what the actual story is behind Scarlet and the toxic baddies, nor do I care.
You want to know something “funny” ? Even if you paid attention you wouldn’t know that much more about Scarlet.
When the event is in yellow :
-it’s active.
-if it has an arrow, the number next to it tells you how long this stage has been active
-if it has a minus next to the number, it means that you need to trigger something to make it advance.
When the event is in red : it failed.
When the event is not highlighted :
-arrows are kind of tricky, they generally mean that other events can now be completed to trigger the main event
-numbers in orange mean that the event is launching later than what was planned
-numbers in yellow mean that the event doesn’t have a fixed timer but instead a window during which the event can begin.
I suggest you read on the wiki each event you are interested in to really understand what GW2stuff is telling you and which events require pre-events to be completed.
They have to be because press 1 is all some people manage. Wouldn’t you hate dodging and doing everything right but still failing the event over and over because half the players you are doing it with can’t dodge?
Kind of like Marionette. Except that even that didn’t require insane dodging skill…just reading comprehension and a tiny bit of common sense.
But we should get more “hard” stuff. The GW2 playerbase had it easy for way too long. And not just hard because they require coordination (Wurm, Teq).
After nearly 2 years let’s all admit once and for all that :
-Anet can’t design a male medium armor top that doesn’t extend below the waste
-Anet has trouble rendering a skirt that doesn’t seem off by giving disproportionate hips/butt to the wearer. But still won’t design more than one simple pants for light armor.
Yes a ticking option would be perfect, so people that get shocked by the slightest inch of skin have a not so skimpy option (but they’ll still complain that those around them are too skimpy). But it won’t happen. Ever.
You have to be at least rank 30.
That blue skin…Who saw a blue spandex body suit and thought “let’s put pieces of armor here and there”.
Now,whether the ascetics are done good or not, that’s a different question.
That’s pretty much the problem I find with those armor. I don’t mind skimpy armor, but I’m kind of tired of my character having a big behind (not proportionate to the rest of her body) all the time even after she ran all over Tyria.
But I must say that compared to a lot of armor, they look kind of good on Charr. Now if only we could remove that body suit…
I will only say that : people were offended by the groping hand on the heavy arah armor. Let’s see how they react to all 3 new armor sets.
You can preview the armor in the pvp lockers.
Then what of the Tree Malyck comes from ?
I play dungeons and fractals, and I have 100% exploration map on 3 of my characters with enough badges for at least 4 legendaries well before the ranking system was implemented. The problem is I now resides in a server which ceases any sort of WvW activities, so grinding to rank 30 is like putting myself in a tribulation mode: to cap camps and to get rolled by enemy zergs. So do I have to pay for transfer to get my leggies done? Is it fair for new folks in my server to go through all this?
By the ways, I know some splendid people who can get everything in your list (except the gift of battle) without the need to go to WvW. They don’t like zerging but it seems the only fast way to get to rank 30. Imagine the frustration.
My point was that for new players, rank 30 in WvW isn’t really what’s going to limit them in crafting a legendary because they have all the other stuff to get. Even if you don’t zerg it’s faster to get rank 30 than 100% exploration. Or 100g.
And by ‘things that drop dragonite ore’, he means ‘bore your face off with mind numbingly simple and repetitive world boss and temple zerging’. I hope that you are able to play at 0000 GMT, because if you are not able to jump on the server reset train this is a rather time consuming grind.
I really thought that GW2 was supposed to be a game about playing to have fun, not being forced into monotonous grinds in order to advance.
You can easily do Melandru/Lyssa/Dwayna/Grenth with less than 10 people, and for Lyssa it’s even easier.
And let’s not forget Mark II.
They removed enchantments for boons and hexes were merged with conditions to make things more simple.
And before someone says it, enchantments and boons aren’t the same. Each skills that placed an enchantment had different effects, just like each hexes had different effects. Empathy wasn’t the same as Spiteful Spirit or Backfire.
It was done to simplify combat skills due to the lower number of skills. Based on the number of skills we have, we can’t have :
-a skill that removes hexes
- a skill that removes conditions
-a skill that removes boons
-a skill that removes enchantments
One panic or spitefull spirit would shutdown/destroy a whole zerg in WvW
Much too powerfull for this type of game.
Well it would have forced player to change their way of playing. Instead of forming one big blob they would have needed to form multiple smaller blobs.
But it should be interesting if they gave monsters/tower champions those kind of abilities.
But there are some remnants of hexes/enchantment with skill effects that do not belong to the boon/condition category. Like Tainted Shackles or Mist Form or Venoms.

I don’t mind not having an impact in the normal game play, but when they introduced this living story stuff they made it sound like we were going to have power, and options. That hasn’t really happened overall. And yeah, EVE is awesome, but it takes too long to play. And costs moneh.
Well to defend Anet, they did leave us a choice : Kiel or Evon. And I hope they never ever make something like that ever again.
That doesn’t mean they shouldn’t make us chose attack tactics or allies which simply add a twist to the story, but making us chose "Which major lore event you want to see knowing that the other one would completely forgotten (which again doesn’t make any sense because if Evon won, I hardly see how we could forget about Thaumanova or how Scarlet could be associated to the Abaddon Fractal).
Any kind of content vote is bound to not end well because those who wanted the content and didn’t get it in the end are going to be pretty unhappy. Which wouldn’t be the case in asking us how we wanted to deal with Scarlet (kind of like when we had to chose which Order tactic we should follow).

I kind of agree with the fact that no matter how many of her forces we killed, they are still here in great numbers. “Scarlet is threatening to kill them if they don’t obey” well by now we have decimated so many of them by now they should be scared of us, not her.
Why aren’t they revolting against her ? Is there something more to it ? I hope so.
As for the risen in Orr, I understand that it’s because Orr is currently frozen in time so even new players can experience the main quest of the game. But Southsun I don’t know.
Excuse him for not making it clear to you: when you range bosses, they stop using certain attacks. Just like when you range lupicus he doesn’t kick or swipe you. Or when Ginva the butch can’t hit you with his axe whirl. Or when the Archdiviner can’t hit you with his hammer bash. You can do the same thing with most bosses: when you stay at range and kite them, they bug out and stop using some/most/all attacks.
Aww it’s cute <3 Ignoring how bosses bug out when stuck in a wall and throwing a few jokes “if you range you exploit” <3.
I might have wrongly assumed that the Spider Queen bugs when near a wall/pillar, just like Alpha used to bug (don’t know, it’s been a year since we didn’t bother to try to do that) when pushed into a wall. Or Dwayna stops attacking.
This whole stacking thing is starting to make me wonder a few things : do we all have the same definition about it ?
When you stack at a specific point so the enemies behave differently, that’s an exploit.
Did you know that when you range a boss, he will sometimes not melee you? Is ranging exploiting too?
Excuse for not making it clearer for people like you (and a few others) : When you stack at certain places, the boss stops using certain attacks. Just like when you stack on the pillar the Spider Queen won’t spit poison. Or when you end up pushing Alpha through the wall it stops attacking. You can do the same thing with Dwayna, and most bosses : when you end up pushing them through a wall/texture, they bug out at stop using some/most/all attacks.
PvE bosses can’t hit for too much. I’m sure everyone has played through Dwayna where the lag is so bad and the guardians flames are so high that you can barely see her completely telegraphed attacks.
Then you have the Wurms which is actually nice because it separates the whole zerg, making it easier on the eyes and thus they can make the fight harder without worrying too much about people complaining that “one second I was alive, then my screen froze, then I was dead”.
But in the end are zergs good ? After doing so many meta events (aside from Teq and Wurm) I prefer to do them with only 6-7 guild members and no one else. Things actually go faster.
Hell, I can solo Mark II faster than a 60+ man zerg…And Lyssa…~6 minute fight or 20 long painful minutes of trying to hit the boss because most players are running around, trying to kill the champions ?
The same goes for nearly all other meta event bosses : zergs make things “easier” yes, but they also make them last longer because most of the time, half the zerg just auto attack the boss from far away. Or drop dead during the Fire Elemental and cry “REZ ME !!!!”
This whole stacking thing is starting to make me wonder a few things : do we all have the same definition about it ?
When you stack at a specific point so the enemies behave differently, that’s an exploit. When you stack wherever because everyone is meeleing/boon sharing, that’s being smart.
And when you stack at every single encounter, that’s guardians not knowing how to pull things.
It’s been ages since I repeated the same dungeon on the same day, but did you switch characters or did you keep the same one ?
I don’t remember if the number of tokens drop down whether you switch character or not.
Anet has always been crazy with numbers, even in GW1. And let’s not forget the PvP ones :
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Titles
Example for Codex : "Theoretically, a single winning streak of 35,723 consecutive victories would max the title. However, due to the skill pool updating weekly, it is impossible to get more than 10,073 consecutive wins (at a win per minute) in a single streak. "
Or the Hero title (which a few actually got after I don’t remember how many years) : "You would need to win 2,509 times consecutively to gain the 100,000 fame needed to max this title. This would take over 500 hours of holding Halls. "
Luckily you can buy them on the TP now, and when you look at the price of keys, it’s not that expensive to buy them on it.
And then of course there are some that don’t won’t to learn, but I think most are willing to listen, if you don’t go on the attack first.
New players are generally willing to learn. Older players aren’t because they think they know everything and feel insulted when you told them that what they have been doing in the past is bad.
When I see a level 35 ranger in AC with barely 400 AP I barely cringe because he might die a lot but we can teach him. When I see a level 80 full signet warrior with 10k+ AP using a long bow during the first fight I know that sooner or later things are going to get annoying.
Then again, when you put “no stack on Spider” it eliminates a lot of players with terrible attitude. (Some slip through, stack and then tell you “are you dumb ? STACK !!!!!!!!” followed pretty soon by “WHY YOU KICK ME ? I’M GONNA REPORT”)
(And if you are wondering why we don’t stack on that Spider : it’s to not get worse at this game so that when a new thing comes out, we aren’t totally lost until Dulfy or someone else comes up with a complete guide).
Well the Weapons of the Sunless are pretty much the less accessible and most rare weapons in the game. I think that legendary are way more present that these weapons. So you can try to get one of those, but good luck.
Immobulus is probably rarer than those weapons since there aren’t even enough giant eyes on the TP to craft it. (Kind of joke, never bothered to check how much Immobulus or Weapons of the Sunless I saw).
because every time they try to implement something as a long term goal, they get flooded with complaints about grinding, timegates and casual vs hardcore.
But those complaints aren’t so far off regarding grinding and time gates. I didn’t have too much a problem with grinding since I already had the mats, but the time gating is ridiculous.
But casual vs hardcore, that’s something that annoys me. The majority of the playerbase isn’t going to get better if the most rewarding things are completely easy, and the hardest things barely rewarding. It has nothing to do with the amount of time you have to play the game. Some get how to play quickly, others are still bad after 6 months.
(edited by RedStar.4218)
Well they’ll either be added to the gemstore or the black lion chests. So I’d rather have dyeable weapons, but I doubt that will happen anytime soon (read : not for this year).
and obviously you havent played the spider queen recently. Ive had full teams with all ascended/legendary items wipe over and over again. Used to beat easy till anet changed it
The Spider queen ? The AC spider queen ? I’m sorry but it’s your full ascended/legendary team that is bad, not the encounter that is too hard.
And once again, that has nothing to do with map completion.
I didn’t notice a real change in PuG before or the Queensdale champ farm. Some people were terrible back then, some people are terrible right now and they don’t see any reason why the should become better at this game (a lot of the times, they don’t even know how bad they are until they are stuck on a platform during the Marionette with 4 other bad players and they wipe and blame each other).
Don’t treat other players like trash. Treat them like a mix between a kid and an adult : be nice, don’t get mad, explain and repeat over and over and over until they get it right. If someone insults you, ignore it.
Oh and say stuff in /say chat. People are more likely to see it, during Marionette at least.
even dungeons have become stupid. All of them are filled with exploits that anet barely keeps up with fixing and instead of fixing things like path finding, they just buff basic damage. The queen spider in AC for example, and the door they added in COF p1. Lame fixes that just force players to find other exploits.
And right there you don’t see the other problem ? You wrote it yourself : Anet fixes something, people find another way to break. They prefer to exploit than to finally learn how to play this game.
If your whole party wipes at the spider queen then you did a terrible job. (But we are talking about dungeons, were every single wipe cannot be blamed on a single player. If you were that good, someone’s else mistake would only slow you down and not kill your whole team).
My question was : show me a non-group event/SP too hard for a single player in regular gear to do by himself.
Why should noobs = idiots ? We were all new at this game and unfortunately some people never learn to play their class.
GW2 is easy if you know how to read and think for a few seconds. But if you want to “play how you want” then be ready to face the consequences.
How about you give us a few example of those events that “noobs” won’t be able to beat ? Ignoring of course group events because, like their name suggest, aren’t tailored for only 1 player.
I’m not trying to be mean, but try to learn your class a bit more. I have 7 level 80s (can’t get around to playing on my ranger more than a minute, so it’s going to take a while for that one) and the only class I had a problem getting map completion by myself was on my elementalist when it wasn’t even level 30, geared with whatever I found and barely knowing how to really play one.
Thief, Necro, Guardian, Warrior have a really easy time doing stuff on their own. Mesmer requires you to be a bit more imaginative and I don’t recall any problem with my Engi.
Be it in Orr or Queensdale (except Southsun) everything that isn’t labeled “group event” can be done on your own. Even some group events can be done by yourself if you have the patience (or because some of them are barely challenging).
As for Skill Challenges, are you talking about the ones where you have to fight ? For which I fail to recall any kind of difficult fight in 60+ zones. And for communing, there are spy kits if you don’t want to lose time.
