AP Needs to be private

When I see somehow with AP under 1k I simply think “oh he probably started not too long ago” and I might take time to explain things if necessary.
But to judge skill with it ? GW2 isn’t a complicated game to pick up for some, while for others, even with 9k+ AP they still can’t be useful teammates (and on top of that, they dare to have an attitude).

NPCs should have unique armor sets. It makes it more immersive. Could you imagine if everyone could acquire the same armor as the major NPCs in this game? It would look ridiculous.

The Pale Tree is the only major NPC which doesn’t fit in acquiring its dress. Jennah ? She isn’t the only NPC with that dress.

Aside from Anise, who is a big exception considering the initial version of her armor was shown during a mesmer preview video, no major NPC has unique clothes/armor. You can even dress like the Risen High Wizard…

The most plausible theory so far is that Anet didn’t have enough time to polish everything and armor was far down their check list. If you look a bit more closely you’ll see how many things are off in this game when it comes to armor.
IE :
-the masquerade and tribal sets being exclusive to PvE/PvP, amongst other things
-the icons not resembling the armor piece, especially when it comes the shoulder pieces (and did anyone else notice how the Armageddon skirt icon looks way closer to the phoenix skirt than the Armageddon skirt ?
-the terrible textures of certain armor compared to the rest (hi light armor AC shoulder pads).
-the lack of acquisition equivalence between the 3 armor classes (for example, in PvE rare light armor belongs to the Conjure set, while rare medium armor belongs to the Rogue set which is also sold by karma merchants, except for the mask which belongs to another set…)

You can brush it all off by saying “meh details, who cares”. Except that this game was supposed to be about cosmetics (and I’m leaving the talk about the actual armor looks for another thread).

COE lasers so buggy

You’re not supposed to be able to clip between the lasers anyway. You’re complaining about bugs being buggy.

My character is simple, there’s clearly enough space for her :p.

But after not going in that dungeons for 3+ months, we didn’t encounter any problem using a bug like that.

ive seen all of the armors (except the gw1 one) be worn by players, you got to check better and i think the heavy one is a dungeon armor as well

The OP mentioned 3 armors.

The heavy one is CM armor (although the chest has been modified).
The second one (Anise) was only seen in a mesmer preview video.
The third one is only shown on NPCs in DR and in Queensdale.

So you only saw 1 of those armor :p.

Not to mention the different cultural sets worn by NPC, which one could brush of as would be town clothes.

A well placed trebuchet can take care of pretty much any siege in any towers. It amazes me how many time a zerg will bash their head against ACs and door trebs instead of just building a treb to destroy all the siege weapons.

For keeps and SM, it’s a bit harder and requires a bit more thinking.

Not sure if treb was nerf along with it but for some reason this change had been reverted. Catas and trebs are able to damage through gates now. I think letting siege hit through the gate is good though because offense had already been buffed too much by the introduction of ram mastery.

Are you sure about this ? Yesterday there was a catapult hitting us through the wall while we were on rams. I don’t recall getting any damage on us or the rams, but we were however knocked back.

you can see it’s multiple skulls on the shoulder, the legs and gloves have mouths. It’s still not really close enough to call it a look alike

Well personally, I find it as close as the orrian light armor and its concept art (It’s sad how such a beautiful armor got ruined by the accumulation of small changes).
Once again, this isn’t my suggestion at Grenth’s armor. It’s Anet’s.

Being able to damage your own side should never be implemented for obvious trolling reasons.

And if they remove trebs damaging through doors, they better removed AoE attacks hitting through them too.

I still think those armor sets don’t look good. It’s true they have a lot of details but unfortunately the textures are too flat. It reminds some of Prophecies armor that were too flat.

Once again, I don’t understand why we still don’t have Countess Anise’s armor (which once again, was supposed to be in-game). Or a medium armor top that doesn’t go past the waist.

It has to change each week, else how would 3 green servers fight each other ? And a lot of players seem to be complaining about not getting a certain color to make their map completion easier.

Outmanned buff effect means you don’t have to repair armor…so outmanned servers wouldn’t be penalized.

And how were you not punished in GW1 by dying? 60% DP was insanely difficult and demoralizing to a GvG team in GW1, especially in top 100 matches. I would rather have damaged armor. And if you had read my post at all you would realize that outmanned buff effect causes no damage to armor on death, and the bloodlust buffs would remove it as well incrementally. Plus, I said there would be some flaws in a system like this, but it sounded interesting to me.

Before you come into a thread and act like I shot bambi and jump on me, read the post please and also realize you are talking about a non-existent feature in a game.

You can be outmaned (the ingame mechanic) or facing 100 players against less than 40 of yours and not have that buff.

In GW1 the DP only took away your life and energy. It didn’t take away your attribute points or reduced your attack power.

And while I might not have any problems regarding this, some players have problems with armor repair fees and P2W (repair canister).

Basically lame.

I am so tired of hearing “Sweep for mesmers”. I have a gut wrenching reaction every time we take a tower or keep. It is really unpleasant.

Sweeping for mesmers is incredibly easy. The most annoying place is SM because of those ledges, but even Hills only takes a couple of minutes to perfectly sweep and Bay, due to the water is even faster. And if you fail at sweeping a tower, you are terrible and deserve to lose it.

What annoys me is that few players know how to do it, so if you don’t want to lose the keep/tower, you have sweep everything :/.

It’s annoying when you want to put a +5 supplies in there.

It happens so often it gets tiring. And from tags we never saw, although it was probably one random dude who thought “hey what does this do ?” and not to troll around.

Anet should change how claiming works. If a guild has more buff than yours, they can claim over you. And if a guild loses all their buffs, they close the claim too.

The only thing I find unfun is players that can’t lose a fight because when they start losing they will run so quickly you won’t be able to catch them.

I don’t generally fight anyone, because I suck at it. But someone wants to pick a fight with me, I try because I can always learn something. For example, I learned that I’m completely terrible as a guardian against a mesmer or an engineer.
But sometime I get attacked by a thief. The second he realizes I’m not dumb and he might lose the fight because I won’t let him backstab me and he gets hit multiple times, he runs away. 20 seconds, he’s back. Then gone. Then back. Then gone again…by the end, I’ve made it where I want to or he’s hanging around with NPCs.

But unlike mesmer and engineers, from which I can evade a fight, I don’t have any choice against a stealthy thief.

Mesmers can perma-stealth.

Of course!.. i will not reveal their secret remedies.

Anyhow, i haven’t mastered it yet but i’m able to remain undetected for 20 minutes+, other mesmers; 30min+..1 hour+, yet again in the same “hidden spots”.,

Yet i feel like a ‘bad guy’ for using cheap unfair alternatives to gain success, but once again, i’m constantly being reminded, ‘that it is ok.. you are doing nothing wrong, in fact, you are doing the right thing’

In final note,

My server including others, had always believed that hard work and great effort payed off in the end.

Or as the saying goes, “Good planning and hard work lead to prosperity”
Not Anymore.

Perma-stealth is not hiding when half of your skills are giving away your position. Even a thief can’t correctly hide because of the red rings that appear every few seconds. (If there is an exploit however, that’s another story).
Doing a sweep isn’t just running around. If you can’t correctly sweep, you deserve to lose your keep.

Of course!..I will not reveal their secret to sweeping.

Complaining about mesmer port ? It’s so simple to sweep, yet it has astonished me the completely dumb hiding spot I found (right in front of the door) yet they work when the opposing zerg is too dumb/lazy to just wander around.

And it’s not that hard to correctly sweep, even with thieves around.

The only problem are players who knows how to get around the 15 minutes no movement limits.

The challenge in this ggame is being effective. A lot of players whine about the lack of challenge in dungeon, yet they take eons to complete a path that shouldn’t take more than 15 minutes. It’s like when Anet removed WP while the team was in combat : the whining it generated was amazing, especially coming from the same players who said weeks earlier that dungeons were too easy.

Point is : you can do all the content even if you are terrible because
-your team will carry you
-there’s no time limit (except for some very few events)
-you cannot fully wipe and fail in a dungeon

I could show you screen shots from Devona’s Rests Lions Arch map @ all of the prime times. Nothing about that server is very high.

GoM is pretty similar :/ Everyone goes on other server for PvE events and if we aren’t doing good in WvW, the majority doesn’t bother helping us fight.

Well taking a tower in an other BL, fortifying and placing siege in there..If you didn’t want to have to deal with that, you had more than enough time to kick them out of there before things got annoying.

2. More 3-way battles – usually by the 56-hour mark in a match, the 3rd place server is fighting for 2nd place, the 2nd place server is fighting for 1st, and the 1st place server is defending their lead against 2nd place. As the match progresses, it almost invariably leans towards a double-team against the 2nd place server. This is not the intent of WvW.

Speaking from GoM, we have been in enough match ups where the 1st place kept changing, or when suddenly, on the last day, the 1st place would get snatched away by another server.

The old old system was a problem when guild lefts a server for another. So that server will be weaker yet its ratings will lock him in a tier too strong for it. Or for SF, in a tier too weak but due to the ratings, it was impossible for GoM/HoD to lose that much ratings (ANet had to come in and fix that).
The random match ups were somewhat worse. Yes it provided diversity but it also could result in completely one sided match ups.

Now it doesn’t look too bad, for bottom tiers anyway.

Mneawhile in the land of Gate of Madness, we will continue to be the 21-23/24, yay

Well until we can fix our PvE population will to actually fight instead of giving up at the first bump in the road, we won’t get more than those ranks. At least for one month there won’t be any LS updates.

I don’t typically die on most boss encounters. A lot of my frustration extends to experiences with my class.

Oh you are a mesmer :/ yeah it’s probably the most troublesome classes against World bosses. When I farmed the bosses, my mesmer was the last class I used because of that (and since I have 6 others, it was pretty rare for me to take him out).

Despite nearly every server population being described as High or Very High. The open world is dead. Most of the renown quests and events in zones have been completed by the first generation of players to play GW2 that you’re lucky to run into anyone at all while leveling, let alone someone to help you with that champ mob in Lornar’s Pass or Fields of Ruin. Mid-level zones such as those are such “ghost towns” it can feel like playing a single player game.

I started playing during the headstart. Fields of Ruin and Lornar’s Pass have always been near empty places. Like Snowden or Iron Marches, or like you said any mid level zones. Players don’t play in Fields of Ruin because a lot of them don’t even know how to easily get there.

World bosses were once my favorite aspect of the game. The newly added mechanics to world bosses have ruined the experience for myself and I’d speculate many people as well. Claw of Jormag’s monotonous chain fears, unforgiving fire/ice tornadoes on Fire Ele/Maw, Golem Mark II’s ground AE that can not only 2 shot you but also renders your downed state nearly useless. People on many servers don’t even bother to turn up for Teq. While I don’t agree that people should just auto-attack and get loot, I would take that over sad turnouts to world bosses. There needs to be a middle ground.

Aside from Teq, which needs coordination and a lot of players, the rest is a personal issue. If you still die from any world boss, you need to learn to move around…
The Fire Ele gives you plenty of time to move around, except if you start saving downed players. The Maw…you shouldn’t even die more than once (hopefully because you were afk) and Mark II is a matter of not being blind and seeing the 2 seconds tell to move out of the way.
As for Jormag : the first phase is boring, the second is annoying because more than half of the players seem to still not understand that you need to protect those golems.

With how each week the color are randomly assigned, I can’t believe this type of thread stills exists.

As for a whole zerg killing one lone dude : one lone player can do a lot of troubles. I sometime let people pass because they are probably just running around, but it’s not “bullying” to kill a player that can :
-cap a camp
-put swords on a tower
-spy movements
-contest a WP

SMC flip more constantly where the servers have more coverage than down here where most servers have huge coverage gaps. Basically for us lower tiers, if you hold SMC through the prime time, you won it (unless one of the enemy servers have a night crew you do not, but that problably will cost you more than just SMC) since things will be quiet for long hours where the castle is likely to get supplies and upgrade without any danger… Many times I went to sleep with an enemy paper castle, to wake up with a Iron Wall and WP in the middle of EB.

I think it was yesterday that DR had fortified walls on SM with cannons done. Yet there was only a few to defend. 2 awesome players from GoM got the walls down with trebs then the gathered a few others and went on the gate. When I got there, the gate was nearly down xD.

SM needs constant attention from players that actually know what to do. If on GoM we can’t even hold OW, we will only hold SM if the other servers are scared of taking it.

Heh… I’m the one who trebbed those walls (along with a guildie). So here is a good new: I’m not going to do it again. The commander on the map simply ignored the fact that we sit there for more than a hour trebbing those wall, and never attacked the overlook, ogrewatch or even helped the trebs when GoM amassed around us…. So, I will not waste my superior trebs and time on this anymore (and not everyone has the patience of doing super boring treb work)

Edit: Fixed the last part for you… Anyone who correctly controls SMC will control Klovan/Wildcreek/Durios/Quentin/Anzalias/Ogrewatch (since 2 are technically yours already, it’s 4 plus).

Oh I was speaking in terms of points. It’s hard to find people willing to treb walls for 5 minutes or more. But not as annoying as having the wall down but for some reason the commander won’t get it.

As for yesterday : I log in, see OW under attack. I head there, see two trebs. Five minute later I go in OL and see our fortified wall down. I was pretty shocked at both servers : ours for not repairing it (well I guess they understood the concept of "don’t waste supplies until treb is down) and yours because the freaking wall was down xD.
The only reasoning we got was “maybe they don’t have a lot of persons on and no commander”.

The life of a trebber is a very sad life :/

It’s like there is a saying, in EB, GoM zerg drives the commander crazy.

There is a very long discussion about priorities in some servers… In fact, I belive the priority should be where you can hold more points…

Keeps worth 25ppt be it on Eternal Battleground, [Your Server Name] Borderland or [Enemy Server Name] Borderland. And I would gadly trade a bay keep on my server borderland for a hills keep in an enemy borderland as hills keep is a much defensible position compared to bay.

Stonemist Castle is the highest ppt on the maps (as it worth 35), and GoM has the advantage of being red (thus constantly controling the overlook, which is the only keep that can harass SMC). I’d pretty much priorize SMC over one keep (25<35) since SMC have 2 rows of walls/gates as any keep. Also, SMC have the advantage of being able to control all 6 towers around it (thus increasing the total ppt it worth).

Of course, most people down here think that BL lockdown is the best/only way to play, which sometimes get very disapointing… This kind of thinking is the reason you go to an enemy borderland and see no friendly living soul around for hours (And I personally don’t like it).

But in the end, who I am to tell people how to play eh? Those are just my two cents…

I’m despising SM a little more every day. If we don’t held it, trebs are going to be built (logged in yesterday to destroyed fortify walls in OL, and almost in OW…). And then it’s going to be under attack almost constantly and when someone asks help to defend something else, something that’s fortified (like Hills), the answer is “SM is more important”…

Well if you want to sacrifice other things for SM, at least correctly protect it, instead of losing it 20 minutes later. SM is worth one keep and one tower.

If you’re going to say ,‘I had it, but I don’t remember where I got it from and it was a few months back’ then sorry but that’s not going to fly. I’ll shelve it along with the ‘Nightmare Tower meta helmet drops from PvP chests, I didn’t see it but a friend of a friend has it and they showed me a screenie’. In the end, the Nightmare Tower meta helm turned out to be a one skin only thing.

So, no. You are the only person in the entirety of GW2 who claims to have had full Rubrik where no one else in 1 year+ of GW2 has more than the chest from the storyline.

A year+ ago I was already claiming I had it. Either I’m the most boring troll in the world, or I simply had it and didn’t bother remembering everything. Oh and I never claimed to have full rubrik, I claimed to have owned the top as a rare drop.

People thinking there won’t be queues on their server in season 2, cute (Well actually, if EotM is released at this time, yes there won’t be queues :p). Those “PvErs” are already on your server, they won’t leave, even if your server is doing terribly.
While the bad rewards and the lack of a big difference between lowest and highest ranking will prevent another mass stacking on certain servers, it’s too late because those servers are already stacked.

And rewards are rewards, “PvErs” are still going to come in WvW to get the achievements.

I’m not the one who assembled all those armor pieces to create something that looks alike the Grenth concept armor. It’s on the promotion page for the winsterday gem store. It’s basically Anet’s way of telling us “if you want to look like the concept art, here is what you need”.
So the chances of having the full armor in the gemstore for medium and heavy classes are incredibly slim.

I find it hard to give a kitten about the ascended light armor now that PVE Rubric is becoming a reality.

For the I don’t know how many times I’ve said this again and again : you can find PvE rubric in game. My necro was running around in it while leveling in Fields of Ruins (I threw it away because I didn’t like it).

Most WvW players knew going in this would be a ‘two blues and a green’ type reward. It’s been a running joke the entire season. Anyone who honestly expected more hasn’t played much WvW. Or was incredibly naive.

While I was pretty sure the rewards were going to be terrible, I thought they would give more than 100 dragonites and empyreals. I don’t have any trouble obtaining them, but one would think that after what has been said, they would give at least enough to craft an ascended weapon.

Really, what you should be taking away from Season 1 is a sense of pride in how your server did, in your ability to rally and work together. Think about how much fun you actually had during the season with having that many more people participating and getting in to WvW. Think about how now, out of season, your server has potential to tier up (or down if you did horribly).

What I realized is that the PvE playerbase on GoM is the most horrible curse. They are here when everything is fine and the moment we need to fight, they all run away.
A part of me hoped that the rewards would be outrageously unfair between higher and lower servers. That way that chunk of players who are only there for the rewards would have finally transferred somewhere else.

Anet should “just” (because it can be a lot of work) add layers to armor pieces that can be showed or not. That way, those who want to cover their characters can and those who can be skimpy can too.

But it should be done a little bit better than what they did to Heavy Orrian (adding a pair of black panties which was probably done in less than 2 seconds).

The thing is, red is easier to defend than blue or green. It only makes sense to have the weakest server there.

Not really. Sure red side is probably the easiest side to defend, however when the strongest server takes it and holds it, it’s a real pain for the weakest server to get it back.

Also… I would give my firstborn for a Kylek armor. Those aztec designed armors are amazing.

There are so many variables, locking things for a determined period of time won’t work. Some people work dead shifts, others work from 9 to 5, or 8 to 2. Some go to school, some are on holidays. And the biggest one : week ends.
Also, and I’m aware this doesn’t affect that many persons : some don’t stay in the same time zone all year long. Or even for more than 6 months.

Wanna play WvW ? Well you can’t because it’s not the time to.

I prefer the idea that has been voiced numerous times : the more upgraded something is, the more points it’s worth.

I wish the rewards for number 1 servers are extremely good and if you aren’t in the top three, they are pretty bad (like a bag of spikes). That way, when the next season rolls in, every bandwagonners will be nicely stacked on the same server.

Fixed. Didn’t need that to be plural. Good thing Anet doesn’t have the genie working for them or he may grant that silly wish.

Hahahaha nah, some bandwaggonners don’t want to fully assume themselves, so instead of stacking on n°1 Gold, they are going to stack on n°1 Silver :p

I’m pretty sure Gaile has answered some of those questions. Search around if you are looking for answers.

And for anyone playing Legally Blonde in here : if you are so sure about that, go find a lawyer and sue Anet. Also refrain from posting in here, because even if you were onto something, the quality of some posts wouldn’t work in your favor.

I don’t think they are running low on idea, I think they are running low on time because they have bitten off more than they can chew after promising new content on bi-weekly basis. If they can admit their mistake and slow down on the quantity of updates,i think we can start to see improvement in the quality instead.

Feel lucky each day you aren’t waking up to “Well, we might have set the bar too high. But because we want to do more things and we have technical limitations, we are going to make GW3, we will give you news when it’s ready”.

But knowing this forum, the uproars this will cause will be too much for such a thing to happen.

GW1 armors in GW2
Armor that should have been in GW2 finally available to us (Anise’s, and others)
Caladbolg (Which will at least be a legendary that has any kind of lore tied to it, instead of being something random which sparkles everywhere).
