MAKE THE Mad King JP HARDER!

RedStar.4218

Probably the hardest aspect of the JP is the end jumping through the shattered window.

I don’t know if you are joking, but you can’t fail that last jump. That or I have been really lucky because both times I arrived at the top, I jumped a little too late and instead of going through the opening, I “hit” the wall (you fall through it and get to the reward zone).

MAKE THE Mad King JP HARDER!

RedStar.4218

If you have any kind of problems with this JP, just take your time.

For example, right after the first break, a lot of players can’t even get past the next few jumps. They stumble around the block, or get “stuck” and die, or jump straight to their death.
Then, where people tend to die : the cog next to the chest. If you jump too late, you won’t be able to run straight across it, you’ll need to jump a second time. But some players don’t notice it and keep on running thus they fall.
After this it’s pretty easy and can be done without over thinking it until you get to big cog where you can mess the jump and face a similar problem as with the first cog. But if you take just a second to think, you won’t die.
Then you need to jump on the steel beam. Either do it directly, or jump on the little block and position yourself on the highest point to jump on it.
Once you got past the fall and did the first jump, relax. Yes the goo isn’t too far from you, but if you relax and move a little, it won’t catch you.

“But if I take my time at every step, it’ll be too late when I get to the fall”. Once you got the first part correctly, you’re going to be able to do it flawless, needing only a second to think on the second cog and before jumping on the steel beam after it.

Which brings me : this JP isn’t hard because of hard jumps. It’s hard because of textures not being clear enough (the first block, the cogs, the beams). The goo makes it harder because you it makes you stressed. But you rarely get killed by it.
And the lighting is…weird sometimes.

But once you got it, you can repeat it without too much problems. But if harder means something like TM, I don’t want it. There’s no jumping involved there, only “get killed by the unknown over and over”. Make the JP harder by changing the jump distances, by reducing the surfaces and/or by making the goo faster if you want. But placing undetectable traps ? That’s only making it more annoying.

They won’t assume that the way the count is bad.
But don’t worry Dave, I’m from GoM too. I regularly guest on multiple servers for Meta Events, mostly on TC because they seem like a nice bunch, even when I’m not doing a meta event.

And on all the very high population servers I guested on, GoM is the only one where I experienced :
-Being the only one at Maw. The only other thing going on was Jormag, and we were 15.
-Failing the Shatterer, or seeing that after 30 minutes the pre events weren’t done (I wasn’t there to do them)
-Doing old Teq with 4 other players
-Fire elemental with 3

Oh yeah those things were mostly during dead hours, but I also play on other servers during those hours and I have yet to experience something like that.
So either peak population is enormous (what time is the peak ?) or most people permanently guest on other servers. But I have my doubt on the peak population, because during the same day a server can go from “high” to “very high”, yet we always stay “very high”.
Or maybe people are hiding.

Not so easy as you think. Mainly SM is traded during eu off peak hours, night shift.
And with blowouts you may not have a chance to get it.

Seven weeks. That’s a long time to get SM 5 times. Sure most matches may end up being blowouts, but some won’t.

everyone forgot about the "new" rewards

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

RedStar.4218

Bright, the thing is that it’s easy to be efficient in GW2. But a lot of players don’t want to be efficient, they want to “play the way they want” and I don’t mean min/maxing, I mean wearing masterwork gear and using a riffle for the whole path and of course not coming in melee range to get the boons and be easy to save (because of course they are going to die). Thus a PuG run can be overly complicated and slow.

But with a nice group, which should be with everyone except that some players don’t want to learn, pretty much every path is easy and takes pretty much the same time. Except Arah 4 which has Grenth and that’s annoying. And Giganticus if you are not used to it.
My problem with the rewards if CoF p1 is the baseline, everything else should be above it. It’s overly simple and it’s the fastest path that can be done without exploits. The other dungeons are simple, but wiping in CoF p1 is unacceptable because it’s so easy.

The only reason AC is worth more is to promote it. Not because it’s hard. But once again, PuGs know how to turn something easy in a nightmare.

My server always tried to get out of t8, not for the sake of being in higher tiers but to remove our image as the server no one wants to go to.

I thought the server no one wanted to go to was GoM. Except when a few months ago we started winning a lot and guilds from other servers came and left sometime later.

Anyway, if NSP wants to be with us for the next seven weeks let them. They might win for a while and then their players will get horribly bored. And before that happens, when they are done fighting the opposing servers, they are probably going to start fighting each other. That’s going to be fun to read.

Tengu as a playable race

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: RedStar.4218

RedStar.4218

I disagree. I think the Tengu will be right in there with Sylvari and Asura as far as how many people play them.

I think as soon as we see them open up some new portions of the map we will be seeing the Tengu as a playable race. I would guess that would be before the 2 year anniversary.

Funny thing, Asura are at 16% and Sylvari at 15%. Point is : Humans will always have most of the playerbase. And adding a race that looks like a Charr but based on birds instead of cats won’t attract a significant amount of players. Especially now that we all know how Anet handles armor on non-humanoid characters.

You’re in a fantasy world where Tengu are a HUGE part of it, I mean they had a massive part to play in the GW1 story line

A massive part ? Only one tribe played some kind of part in Canthan’s history. The rest never did anything notable apart from being enemies.

The problem with an ingame polling system is that it wouldn’t reach people like me who don’t log in any more. So you’ll never find out why they left.

You’ve got everyone’s email addresses – why not send out surveys to those, like CCP does?

Email scams aren’t uncommon and a lot of players made another email address only for GW2 and don’t really bother checking it.
Also if you don’t play the game anymore how can you provide input on newer content ? Or even the general gameplay ?
A poll is something simple that gives a general overview, not something detailed as to find out why someone left.

I hate having a lot of players during any of these events…It’s extremely frustrating how some of them barely do any damage but at the same time scale the event higher.

For example Maw…With only 6 players we killed it in less than 5 minutes. Another time, with 60 players it took us almost 10.

And Mark II is even more annoying. People don’t want to understand the extremely simple mechanic, and range on the boxes…instead of hitting both hit boxes of the boss, they simply throw little rocks at it. One time it took a zerg 13 minutes to kill it.

But at least Mark II is more dangerous. Maw, Wurm and Shadow are far from being dangerous.

Temples stolen by guesting guilds

in Dynamic Events

Posted by: RedStar.4218

RedStar.4218

A month later…a whole guild choose GoM to do temple events ? Really ? You barely need more than 10 players for most of them…having more just means you can be mostly afk.

It’s extremely easy to get your own little zerg, but it does require a bit of work on your part (except if you are good).
Wanna do Dwayna ? Lead the event all the way to the risen priestess, then hop on the meta even train. When there is no more meta events, say in map chat “hey let’s go do Dwayna” not a lot of players will follow, but you should have around 6 which is enough to kill the boss. Then while escorting Malchor, other players will come (even if at this point, you don’t need more).
Then once Dwayna is over, say “let’s go do Lyssa”.

And then you can go for Melandru. But don’t tell your zerg to follow you because the event might not have started yet.

It’s like the Megadestroyer : get the ball rolling by doing the first 2 events. Then wait for Mark II to appear and be dealt with and say “let’s go do Megadestoyer !”
This also works with Foulbear.

Unless you are in a guild where no one is ever on, you don’t have any excuses…and even then, I’m also in a guild where no one has the time to play anymore.

Armor skins!

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: RedStar.4218

RedStar.4218

while i’d love to see more armor skins, you gotta remember how hard they are to make (in comparison to say back pieces or weapon skins)

you need to model 5 pieces of gear on 10 different race/gender combinations.

I’d trade in every back piece skin we got for an armor skin. And honestly, with how some armor look on Charr and Norn (even not fat norn), they don’t seen to bother too much with the modeling for it to be any sort of valid excuse.
In fact, I’d prefer if they fixed some of the armor skins (those that aren’t well fitted for other races, or those where textures are way too flat) then creating new ones. But since fixing old armor skin isn’t something they ever plan on doing, I’m left with hoping for new ones.

I’m not sure about your emphasis on completion.

Shouldn’t someone who refines mats to 425, spends gold to craft to 450, does ascended mat refinement to 475, but quits because they decide the last 25 levels take an extreme amount of resources to level get a chance to give feedback on Weaponsmithing?

Shouldn’t someone who plays through the Gauntlet but can’t down Liadri be a part of the discussion on the Gauntlet?

They could differentiate between regular crafting (to 400) and ascended crafting.
As for the Gauntlet example, they would have a poll after each tier since the’res a difficulty jump between each. And the poll for Liandri could pop out after 10 tries or something similar.

The idea was : if you don’t participate you’re opinion on the quality is null. “But I know that I won’t like it” or “I gave it a try for 2 minutes” doens’t cut it. Let’s take ascended weapons : the would be poll would be on ascended crafting, not on ascended weapons. “I don’t need to get to 500 to know that I hate it. Getting to 450 was enough of a pain”…I’m not the one handling the polls, I just gave the idea, stop asking questions :p

Collaborative Development

Regarding polls, as painful as it would be for the ones gathering them, there should be a ton of of polls, based on all kind of game aspects.
And just like in the beta, of course you don’t have access to a poll until you finished the necessary content.

For example, when you only get a poll Weaponsmith crafting when you reach the max level. And a poll regarding crafting in general when you have maxed out every crafting professions.
You only get to answer the living story poll once it’s over.

And keep it kind of simple like in the beta, that way it won’t be such a chore when you have hundreds of polls to fill. (I’d say give achievement points for them, but then players will be more than tempted to answer randomly).

Good point. Also, I don’t really RP either (I might sometimes toggle my walk though =P) That said, I still like to get immersed in my games.
Personally I’ve always said that I’d love to see a “Tome of Knowledge” kinda thing that was featured Warhammer Online. A book which would update you on lore whenever you interacted with it in the world.

For example:
You’ve reached the peak of Anvil Rock, besides a point of interest or a Vista, you might get a Journal update. In it, it describes the history behind Anvil rock.
You can even take it a step further. Let’s say Anvil Rock has a hidden jumping puzzle somewhere. Your first journal entry then simply reads: “This is Anvil Rock, bla bla, history of the, bla bla.” But after you’ve found and done the jumple puzzle, it will continue: “It appears as if there’s an ancient ruin or the Mursaat, buried deep within the mountain. Perhaps it’s been here for over eighthundred years when the Collossus still roamed.”

Same with animals.
You run into a Minotaur and kill it.
_ “I have killed a creature known as a Minotaur. Reknown for having the head of a bull, it can often be found in cold regions of the world.”_

Then after you’ve killed 10:
“After encountering the creatures several times, I’ve noticed a pattern in their behavior. They often travel in pacts, but the herd will ban their Omega’s to fend for themselves.”

Anyways, that’s a pipeline dream, and something that probably shouldn’t have been posted here. =P

That would be so nice to have
(And I sometime walk around)

I instead am more of a solo player who enjoys PvE and getting immersed. If I were to bring up ideas and thoughts about immersion, roleplay, character development, lore or simple no life changing game mechanics, I fear that my plea might go unheard under the avalance of demand for the before mentioned topics.

You aren’t alone. Well I’m not a roleplayer but I do like wandering around zones, doing whichever event I come across and learn about the lore. But game mechanic wise, if you really want to learn about the lore and the gist of what’s happening in each zone, you have to be extremely patient for events to trigger and some of them are pretty tedious…They aren’t hard, and it’s not that they take a while to complete, it’s that the event makes you do the same thing over and over again (if I managed to keep it up for 2 minutes and you didn’t implement an increase in difficulty, chances are, I’ll fall asleep while trying to keep it for the next 3 minutes :p). And then of course there’s the reward for doing certain events that leaves you wondering why did you even bothered to do it. And I don’t mean necessarily mean monetary rewards : some events leave you wondering “what was the point ? I didn’t learn anything, it wasn’t something new and exciting and it changed nothing”.

I would like to point out that’s not what Elona is supposed to be. Given Palawa Joko is evil, but considering he’s had generations of people living in relative peace under him while renovating the land. We could potentially have a beautiful, lush Elona now while having people that see Palawa as a hero, maybe even a demigod.

Actually you are sort of right : " Palawa dammed and diverted the river Elon, causing drought and famine amid the northern provinces of Elona and creating a green and growing area within the Crystal Desert. In this area, Palawa Joko established the seat of his new kingdom. " But that means that the south part of Vabbi and Kourna won’t look too good.
As for peace, I don’t know…The way he took control of Elona, I doubt it’s a happy place, even 190 years after those events. Maybe at first glace they don’t mind, because they have undead and traitors monitoring them, but I’m sure some groups want this situation to end.

Get 3+ players and do events that aren’t commonly done on your server. If gw2stuff doesn’t work, then that’s :
-Mark II, which has a short chain with a short respawn
-Foulbear, which might have a long respawn but is one of the events that’s rarely done.
-Fire Shaman
-Temple of Dwayna, just don’t fail the first event, once you’re past that you can fail as much as you want
-Temple of Lyssa, just be quick to answer the defend events
-Temple of Melandru

And thanks to the new LFG tool, if you want more players, simply post in general LFG what you are doing and surely some people will come to help you. The best way to have your own little zerg is to start with Dwayna where your zerg will grow once you have to escort Malchor, then take them to Lyssa. The somewhat tricky part is taking them to Melandru if the chain has not started.

And now, with other bosses having a lot more health, it’s hard to miss the Shatterer, the Maw or the Jungle Wurm.
