You can still kill deadeye with 5 gambits. It’s only slightly more difficult now, but not impossible.

Which profs can do this? I only want the achievement, not interested in farming.

If you have an engi, go for the ooze with every gambit except tremor and crowd favorite. Then grenade and bomb away while using the supply crate to divert the oozes attention.
It shouldn’t be too hard.

Someone will check if you did anything wrong. If you didn’t do anything wrong (completing an event isn’t wrong, abusive language is, even if you didn’t start it), you won’t get banned.
However, if someone reports too many persons without a valid reason (blocking a farm isn’t a valid reason), he will get banned.

Did you know, after its first few hours, the crown pavillon was nerfed ? When it was released, there were 2-3 champions in each zone and the champion centaurs used to respwan incredibly fast. Giving boxes to everyone.
It was more “fun” that Shank…at least you could see most things and there weren’t hundreds of other players next to you.

Anet won’t ban players. No one is taking advantage of a bug : before this update, those champions spawned if there were too much players. It was their own idea to make champion spawn in Cursed Shore when there were too many players doing an event.

As for those completing the event : quit QQ’ing and just complete it if you want to. While doing so, report for abusive language and block anyone who insult you, then tick of the map chat when you are tired of it. I think you can even tick off pms.
Did you know ? There’s virtually no limit to the block list. (Although after a while, around 100+ persons on it, your game might slow down).

Why must so many threads on this forum become philosophical debates on today’s society ?

Like so many things in this game, when you find it you wonder if it’s intended or not. Everyone reports it and it’s not fixed months later.

Then you look at the consequences of cheating/using a shortcut : you might beat someone else…but honestly who cares ? You don’t need to get first to get the achievement. You just need to be in the top three.
The rewards don’t scale based on your rank (maybe number 1 gets 5 copper more than the others ?).
And don’t even tell me than one day you lost your first place because of it. Of all the randomness in Sanctum Sprint (lag, number 3 not working correctly, RNG of power ups), this shouldn’t be your biggest problem.

It’s far too unclear to say what area we’re looking at in the video, unless we’re not talking about the same manifesto trailer. You get such a brief look at it, and it just show a shark and some fishes in the background. It could have been recorded nearly anywhere.

If the Leviathan is still anywhere in the game, it would be much closer to home than that.

That’s what I thought first. But then when you look at it carefully, the kind of water clarity in the video isn’t found everywhere, even the surroundings (the landscape, the bubbles).
I could be wrong, because it was clear that the Leviathan wasn’t in the game, so I didn’t spend too much time trying to find the exact spot.

If you disconnect or get booted from the game all those gambits disappear along with your tickets.

Yes it does warn you. I found out when I was out of tickets and read what the gambit guy said.

As for being gated : a T3 champion is worth around 10 silver. Each gambit you win is also worth 10 silver + a chance at a material (I got a charged lodestone). The sniper guy (which I find to be the easiest) with 2 gambits (no dodge and cripple) is 30 silver in less than 2 minutes.
Easiest way to get money. It’s even better than CoF if you can place more gambits (maybe burning and tremor it stability works).

Such beautiful logic : SE p2 is worth as much as CoF p1, which is worth as much as anything else, except Arah and AC (which was probably done to promote it). Yet SE p2 takes more time than any other dungeons worth 1g…The only kind of players who’d want to go there are those who finished the other 24 explorable paths….and even then, it’s faster to do 2 SM, than having to deal with SE p2.

Fractals being tied into the vote

in Cutthroat Politics

RedStar.4218

Yep and a slightly altered version of CoE, because let’s not forget it, CoE was built to continue the research of TR.

And hey, what do you know ? They didn’t make this one explode. Logic dictates that whatever made TR explode probably wasn’t that interesting (because Asura don’t care about dangerous experiments), and that if it was so deeply needed to the lore, they wouldn’t showcase it in a fractal, but rather a living story, and risk it’s development.

On the other hand, a living story about a fight between god might not be the best idea for GW2 (would have been nice in GW1). But it does fit a fractal, something short and vague.

…are you arguing for the sake of arguing ?

I basically said that they could do anything they wanted with TR, and you say they can do the same thing with Abaddon ?

But like you pointed it out, they can’t. We know enough thing about it to prevent them from doing something lazy. There isn’t a single thing we currently have in game that they can use for Abaddon Fall (monsters, environnement).
But TR ? Inquest inquest inquest and dragon spawn. And maybe, just maybe, a thing symbolizing chaos energy.

Well the effect of Abaddon have a large presence, like say…well magic to start.

Thaumanova is basically a shot in the dark about what it could be. Well not really, because if it was that important, it wouldn’t be created as a fractal (outside of bosses fight, look how small they are).

Yes, Abaddon will be small too. But come on, those who want it don’t really want it for the story (we know a part of it, and a few new information would be nice), but to actually see a fight of epic proportions.

The Fall of Abaddon

in Cutthroat Politics

RedStar.4218

And it’s extremely vague. If there’s one thing that Anet loves to be is being extremely vague. That way they can get away with anything.

That fractal could be : you’ll be an Inquest member, wander around the lab, kill dragon spawns (risen, ect) then you see a text message indicating that the lab will explode, while trying to escape you might get to fight something new (or Subject Alpha) and then you escape just in time.
Or it could be really great.

But it probably won’t. If those events were so relevant, they wouldn’t limit themselves to a fractal. Yet they are.

it is actually the first fall of abbaddon, not the second, so no its not the “sealing of the god” its the first time abbaddon “fell”.

The true defeat was done during Nightfall, when Kormir became a goddess.

The 5 didn’t kill Abaddon the first time. They sealed him in the Realm of Torment.

WP often cheaper WPs are the better deal.

  • I feel like there’s more to explore with the asuran fractal than the Abbadon one. I played GW1 and I agree it’s a good story, but we know most of the important details already so it would just be filling in the gaps whereas the Thaumanova Reactor is largely a mystery.

A mystery that won’t get solved by the fractal. If it was such a great mystery, do you really think a fractal would be the right place to uncover it ? Look at how incredibly short, story-wise, the fractals are. Except for the Uncategorized fractal, the others are incredibly shallow…Cliffside ? Who knows what the Colossus is, there isn’t even a tiny bit of information. Aquatic ruins ? No one knows what it is, and the devs give an incredibly vague “hint”.
You barely learn anything from those fractals.

What is interesting about TR, are the consequences of the explosion. How it happened, could be interesting, but if it’s to see that the Inquest messed something up without seeing anything new, I’d rather get that kind of information through a blog post.

The Fall of Abaddon

in Cutthroat Politics

RedStar.4218

Hey look, I can copy wiki too :

“Thaumanova Reactor is the location of a ruined asuran city in northwest Metrica Province. It was recently destroyed by an Inquest experiment gone awry, occurring beneath the city and the reactor exploding and subsequently releasing chaos magic. Due to the large amount of chaos magic in the area, creatures from across the continent get transported in and out of the area. The Thaumanova Reactor is divided into five main sections: the southwest which has been turned arctic, the southeast which has become poisonous, the northeast and lower area containing the river with an aquatic aspect, the north which contains fire-based creatures, and the central, the location of the explosion. After the explosion, the energy source that the Inquest was experimenting on was moved to the Thaumacore Inquiry Center in Toxal Bog, causing the chaos effect to spread northward. This effects of the underground experiment also affected other areas such as Chaos Crystal Cavern in Iron Marches. "

What honestly do you expect to see in the fractal ? I only want Abaddon to see a fight of epic proportions and maybe more information. But Thaumanova ? if the lore learned there was oh so important, they wouldn’t wonder about whether or not to put it in the game.

Not all players care about the Gem store.

Not all players care about a Guild Wars 1 lore event we already know all about.

What about new maps and enemies? What makes a game?

Meh, who cares about this opportunity of them having to design a totally new map and enemies to represent the fight between gods that transformed a sea into a desert. It’s better to use the current model of the reactor (except a little less destroyed), and a slight chance at maybe a new type of monster…that could just be a purple blob labbeled “chaos energy” and then watch a bunch of Inquest screw up.

Both of the options are very interesting lore-wise. Also remember that ANet has been very careful in the past with showing the true form of the gods. And I like it better that they are shrouded in mystery (also I have no interest in puny human gods).

I thought the gods weren’t humans. Or did that retconned ?

Also, the Thaumanova is interesting because of the consequences, which we won’t get to see. We’ll get the events leading to the explosion (which honestly can be anything) and the after-math will be left to our imagination, like it currently is.

The Abaddon fractal will at least be like the Bonus Mission Pack : we know the events and we’ll get to play through them. And they can add more information.
