Why the hell do you even care when they don’t tell you they fixed an exploit ?
“Customers trust " ? The same type of customer that breaks the EULA ? Because let’s face it, the only persons who deeply care about that are those who don’t want to run a dungeon like “always” and one day discover that they can’t resort to exploits to gain rewards.
You can wonder why Anet doesn’t include changes that aren’t exploits in the update notes, but asking for them to tell you when they fix an exploit so you don’t waste your time and possibly get killed is a little exaggerated.
@Jski
May 2012, that was after the first BWE (can’t remember what was the situation in the first one).
As for your link about the update in november, I think it “fixed” certain skills that weren’t affected by the limit.
But I’m fairly certain that the limit has been there before the game was released because I remember using that fact when talking about content with 6+ players.
What’s the point of removing culling in PvE ?
In WvW it was needed because it was annoying to get killed by what seemed like 2 or 3 enemies.
Are you annoyed because the dragon is killed by what seems like 2 or 3 enemies ?
And because those encounters need nothing more than spamming your skills, you can do them just fine without seeing the additional monsters or players.
You only get 20 silvers for you rares ? That’s weird, most rares I sell are around 30-45 silvers.
Then you might have more than 1 rare. Or an exotic.
But the real reason people bother with them (or at least why my guildies and me do) is because you have a chance of getting a pre-cursor (which some of us got).
And while I could do CoF, I’m too lazy to find a group, hope for the gate to be opened and hope for the team to be able to do it without too much problems.
And I only bother with those events if I’m not actively playing or when the boss will be up in the next 5 minutes (I almost always have to timer opened).
For those wondering when this was put in, the earliest mention I found was May 1st 2012 http://gw2.junkiesnation.com/2012/05/01/dev-tracker-jon-peters-on-aoe-target-caps-for-all-skills/
Do you know what else suffers from this limit ? Shouts, banners and giving boons. Imagine, only 2 guardians to needed to maintain 25 stacks of might.
Conditions ? Who cares, with shouts and runes/traits, not a problem if you have a guardian or a warrior, and it will even give protection.
Time Wrap might have been nerfed, but imagine if 50 players got quickness. Place a few mesmers and you can keep it up for quite a while.
You know how some game designers decided to mess with pirates by letting them play the copy at first and then doing taking everything away ?
Be glad that Anet didn’t get some inspiration from them.
And it’s rare for Anet to include exploit fixes in their update notes (or it will be extremely vague). One of their excuse is “to not give any new ideas”.
Did (Pirate and grotto in LA, asura and troll in Caledon, the one in Diessa, the 2 in Malchor, in Cursed Shore, the easy one in Southsun, the one in Mount Maelstrom) and got…2 coins.
So, there’s already way too much out there for this to be an April Fool’s thing, but can you imagine if they built all this up — screenshots, weapons, fake maps and information leaks — just so we all excitedly jump into the “Super Adventure Box” and immediately fall into a pit of spikes and die?
I would be sad, but it would also be the greatest prank ever.
The longer the joke, the more chances it has of being not funny.
So have those in small guild do more work than those in larger guilds for the same reward ? (You can talk about organization, but generally, it’s only a fraction of a big guild that has to bother with that).
And as of right now, every guild (as long as they have the influence) can get the commendations. The problem lies in the merit points because you actually have to complete the bounty to get them, while the commendations are acquired when you kill a bounty, even if your guild fails the mission.
Few players bother will keg brawl because it’s simply awful : there isn’t any sort of tutorials, so players take a while to learn what to do and how to do it which makes playing with them a little bit more painful.
And you get…nothing. The titles are so high that it will need to be extremely patient to get them and the glory you get is laughingly low.
As for what the devs have to say on this : https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Perpetual-bar-brawl-what-happened-to-it/first
Part of it. The other part being that the current Bounty Mission is unplayable for a small guild to do being undermanned with a tiny timespan to finish it. I see this as more of a problem compared to the influence price of these guild mission.
If you have at least 5 players, try to do it. Unless you are unlucky and get the bounties in Iron Marches and Gendarran, you should be able to do it if you have the waypoints and are organized (which is generally the case with small guilds because you are rarely in a small guild where everyone is a stranger).
And if you fail to get the second boss, you at least get commendations for killing the first.
With the current number of bugs that occur on a daily basis (regarding dungeons and parties), it would be nice when they are fixed.
As for any bugs that ruins the content by making it impossible to do.
What bugs me is that most of the time, guilds aren’t doing the bounties “blindly” : they use guides. Which is understandable because the hints don’t really match with the routes of some monsters.
What annoys me even more are commanders that have no idea what they are doing in WvW, and to an extent, those who mindlessly follow their awful orders…
And when I see a commander in PvE that I have never seen in WvW, I wonder what’s the point of wearing the tag.
Once again, what you’re saying is “Dungeons are easy once you’ve memorized what exactly to do in each run.” That may be fun for you, getting repeatedly killed until you’ve memorized what to do and when, but it’s aggressively unfun to a lot of us out there. I’d rather run across a champ in the open world, they’re much more fun to figure out solo and you don’t have an entire party that’s depending on you to not die or they’re down a fifth of their strength.
I really don’t understand your point.
Everything is a matter of how fast you can learn, with memorizing encounters being logical.
You can try to memorize every thing in the dungeon (through videos for example) and still fail because you lack the ability to dodge, because you don’t know what to do when problems arise, because you are too dependent on your team or because you don’t know how to use your profession.
When you are killing a champion by yourself in the open world, isn’t it sort of the same ? You don’t go head first. You observe the pattern and once you know them the real fight begins.
Dungeons are the same thing but a lot of players don’t bother with the learning part and jump head first.
And if a party fails because one person fails, they are in no position to completely blame that player.
i think, some solo dungeons would introduce a fair amount of active players.
I agree, or even have scaling dungeons, which has been suggested before. For some reason which I don’t quite understand, people find that idea offensive.
You know the Grenth event chain in Orr ? Try to do it solo. Then you’ll see the necessary changes to make it doable by a majority of players. Then you’ll realize that creating solo dungeons mode of currently existing dungeons would consist in more work than simply tweaking numbers.
1 : If after multiple tries you still find one of the dungeons hard, maybe you should try a different approach.
And no, a pre resquisite to this isn’t to have a team of 5 level 80 consisting only of guardians, warriors and a mesmer in full exotics.
2 : I bring my characters wherever I want without too much problems. The only possible problem you could face in WvW might be having a full berserker gear.
As for traits, 3.50 silver isn’t that much (but I rarely change them because it annoys me to waste time switching back and forth).
As for money, well I don’t know, I run dungeons on the week ends and I have no money problems. And with the new chests, it’s even easier to gain money.
3 : 20 active players isn’t what I consider to be a guild incapable of doing guild bounties. However, since influence is gained by doing dungeons (which you don’t do) or doing a lot of WvW with at least another guild member (which you don’t seem to do) it seems logic that you do not have enough influence after 6 months to be able to participate in guild missions.
(I do however agree that the required influence is stupidly high and that you need to repeat guild bounties and treks etc to be able to unlock the last kind is also stupid).
If the “end game” content is too easy, a lot will be bored by it.
If it’s too rewarding, it won’t change a lot of things. (But some tasks need to be rewarded a little better, because it’s dumb to kill a champion and get even less money that if you had done another, shorter, event).
But restricting end game content to gaining influence and having to repeat something you don’t enjoy for weeks in order to be able to do something you want is a bad idea.
To those who link Factions and Asian themed : did we honestly play the same game ?
Aside from assassins (basically ninjas), the only things sort of asian themed were limited to a third of the island (noob island and kaineng city) : the character names and appearance.
The architecture ? Kaineng city was basically one huge slum…Only Raisu Palace could honestly be linked to being Asian themed (and some buildings on noob island).
The monsters ? Afflicted and bandits everywhere.
The armors ? The weapons ?
You can go mention the lore, how the nagas, onis and whatever else are part of Japanese mythology, but few player see a monster name and think “Yay ! Asian themed !”
But then again…it takes very few example for someone to scream “That’s —-- themed !”
The Krait Witch, being underwater is something that’s rarely done. Because it’s underwater, in a rather low level zone, generally the players aren’t correctly geared for it, making the fight last a long time. Some players don’t even have all their underwater skills unlocked.
And the Krait Witch is harder and takes more time than the Centaur boss.
But I’m sure that at least the one in Kessex is killed a lot more than the one in Timberline.
Thread Necromancy is a forbidden spell nowadays RedStar.
Hehehe, well I’m always interested in what happened to features that I saw in a trailer or mentioned in an article, that I aways wanted to try out or own.
But since I saw that they bothered to add the achievements without adding a way to obtain them, I find this rather curious.
This reminds me of Clay Bricks in GW1…
As for Southsun…it’s desperately empty and dull. Maybe I don’t hang out there enough to see it’s real potential. It did introduce something new (passion fruit/flower, minipets, 2 JP) but those things didn’t need a whole island.
The events are similar to those you can find elsewhere and the rewards are the same.
(edited by RedStar.4218)
Different events shouldn’t give the same reward. It doesn’t make any sense that an escort that takes 3 minutes gives out as much as killing a giant champion that’s attacking a town.
The biggest problem is that every single event of the same level gives out the exact same amount of reward…Spent 10 minutes killing a Champion ? Well doing the Penitent event gives you at least as much and even more because you get more loot.
Like you said, why bother going to Southsun Cove, where the events are more painful than those in Orr when you can get the same rewards there ?
Since I rarely PuG with groups that specifically demand certain professions, I don’t really know what is in “demand”.
But a guardian is generally useful in CM, SE, CoE, Arah.
It’s not so much the speed boost issue. It’s that mounts don’t have anything to do in GW. At best, if they ever introduce mounts, it would be something like the broom : a town cloth item that disappears when you are hit (because town clothes in the gem shop rarely have anything to do in GW).
Mounts in GW2 wouldn’t add any immersion…I don’t even recall an NPC riding any sort of beasts except maybe a Dolyak.
As for the broom, it’s a town cloth. It disappears the instant you take damage.
Don’t the burrows appear at fixed times ?
A reminder : you cannot count 2 pieces that go in the same armor slot from the same tier i.e you cannot count Tier 1 heavy boots and Tier 1 medium boots, only 1 of them will go towards the title. (from the wiki)
Have the same problems as the persons above.
What boss are you talking about ?
It is well known that the game was supposed to have an entire underwater continent which obviously didn’t make the cut when the game was released. The leviathan was most likely related to that content.
Oh I didn’t know that.
Unfortunately, seeing how many players hate playing underwater, it’s kind of understandable for them to not put an entire underwater zone that barely no one would play in… It would have stolen Southsun Cove’s title of “Emptiest zone”.
However I hope that they do find a way to make underwater content more fun and interesting for the majority of players so they can release something like that.
According to those really interested in the lore, the leviathan has nothing to do with the elder dragons (Anet said it, but I can’t find the quote).
(edited by RedStar.4218)
Edit : I said a bunch of stupid thing. What do you mean by the canthan district ?
But anyway, this isn’t a thread about which things made it into the game and which didn’t.
It’s about : did you see the leviathan ?
If your answer is “it’s not in the game”, I want to see a dev quote attached to it.
(edited by RedStar.4218)
Some of the players interested in the Lore mention that it could be the DSD general, but I think that Anet said that they were wrong.
So…we don’t know anything.
I don’t care about what is said in the manifesto…they show in game footage. It’s pretty weird to make footage for a creature only to take it out (although they did create an armor for the mesmer trailer that’s not in the game, but that’s another story).
Frostgorge looks promising. Someone found a skull in Southsun.
But I’ve spend way too much time looking for things that weren’t in the game (mini-games, armor that got left out), so before I really start looking for it, it’d be nice if that creature is at least in the game.
It occurred to me that I have never seen that creature. So I decided to start looking for it, but before I lose too much time, did someone already find it ?
And more importantly, is it really in the game ?
Edit : Should have added an image
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/File:Leviathan.jpg
Edit 2 : That creature has nothing to do with elder dragons.
(edited by RedStar.4218)
Saw that the achievements for bar brawl were added and after a quick search it seems it dates back to December.
But unfortunately, there’s no way of participating in this right now….any news that I might have missed ?
For the Sylvari, at least the racial armors glow. But if you hate them, then that’s not a solution.
GW1 had revealing armor that looked quite good, (although Medium armor didn’t have that many :/ ), maybe GW2 will have more in the future.
It’s not so much the death that is bothersome because most of the time you don’t die upon landing but when you move a few inches.
The bigger problem is having to back back up to the puzzle.
For the past week I was playing during the reset and I can assure you that it happens on time. I can also say that a lot of players are confused by the daylight saving time change.
Shadow Behemoth, the Fire Elemental, the Great Wurm and the Frozen Maw are killed a little too quickly.
But then again, that’s generally bothering those that aren’t doing the pre-events and only come for the final boss.
But the final boss of Maw dies a little too quickly.
This bug is still in and I happen to suffer from it quite a lot. From what I gathered yesterday, 4 on 5 falls didn’t bring me back to the Asura gate, but made me use the WP and do the first jumping part, which isn’t that long, but gets considerably annoying when you do it more than 2 times in a row because of a bug.
This bug can occur anywhere in this jumping puzzle. Your progression however won’t be lost.
Don’t know if this one is in your bug database (can’t find it).
Unfortunately I didn’t take a screenshot but can describe it accurately enough.
In CM path 1, at the last golem part (the one in the corner in the room with the boss). If you are close to that part when the NPC destroys it, you might end up in the wall, unable to escape.
And unless your team kills that boss, you will stay in combat. The only solution is to relog.
In CM :
With a pug with 3 players on server A, 1 one B and another one C.
B makes the explorable instance. C manages to join the instance.
We get the window, we click the button but nothing happens. So we decide to move to the portal. One of us “accidentally” creates another explorable instance which we enter.
The 3 of us leave that instance we kick and re-invite the second instance owner. As he’s kicked we get a invitation window but nothing happens when we click join. We do the same for the first instance owner and the same thing happens.
Finally, the person on server A creates an instance once again and this time all of us manages to get in except the person on server C. After numerous tries, C leaves the party and we invite another person, this time without any problems.
Something similar happened in CoF but in the end we managed to get everyone in.
If you actually were a perfectionist, you would have created a guild were only those good in dungeons were invited. And if you failed 3 times you’d get kicked.
If you party with a horrible PuG you put him on your block list to prevent partying with him ever again.
Right now, what I’m interested in : how many of your groups are actually amazing ?
Is there anything new regarding those armors ?
An even more annoying thing is that fractal progression isn’t account wide.
Again?
Why is it just isolated to NSP though and GoM not affected.
What is Arenanet playing at.
It’s not isolated to a server. 3 hours ago some of us got kicked from your BL and couldn’t go back there.
I’d like to know what makes people think that GoM is cheating. Or what people have seen.
We are a guild of maybe 8 sort of active players…We had unlocked everything before this update. We do a lot of dungeons.
We don’t really feel left out. But we do feel annoy with those waiting time and that absurd requirement of having 50k + influence in order to be able to do guild missions. And then we discovered, after basically wasting our influence, that we cannot do guild treks and we have to do upgrade art of war (luckily we were already at r5, even if we had no use for it). At this point we said “screw this” and everyone gave some gold to buy influence….Can’t wait to do the last type of missions we wanted to do >.>
Anyway, the requirements are annoying but don’t give up ^^
And do events with another guild mate to get more influence. WvW has a lot of events.
