Mortar Napalm stacks condi too fast

The mortar fields last a long time so it’s really easy to be standing in 3 or 4 at once or even more if you have two mortars dropping them in the same area. Was skirmishing around SM the other day and picked up 50 stacks instantly. Still no red rings for people running with lower settings.

How do you pretend to be taken seriously?

Yeah scrapper at least, stupid gyro follows you around dumping cleave, pierce and aoe on you. Every time I stealth up I run like hell from that gyro. It wants me dead…I know it. At least it breaks target.

Mesmer would need to build completely for stealth to have any decent uptime. It’s funny watching them try to run once all their stealth is on cooldown…plopping out clones behind them.

My thief can 100% stealth with d/p if I felt like it. Usually I don’t bother because thieves can just spam evade for days.

Mes and thief get hunted because they pretty much make other glass builds worthless (really bad for build diversity)…or they run condi…or they’re just annoying. I run thief and I still laugh hard watching a troll thief throw shadow refuge while revealed…just before dying. Reveal was a great add to the game lol

If you struggle with thieves just tank up or run one of their counters. It will make you feel better lol.

Was on GoM as well. Transferred to NS as SoS has a strong OCX/SEA presence. Some of the hours you may be blobbing helpless NA servers though. Some pretty good fights for defense…including skill lag. NA prime is under manned unforunately.

Catch is you’ll prob have to transfer again in a few weeks. Cost me about 100 gold so no big deal. Didn’t even have to bust out the wallet. Pretty much how wvw is wired atm.

Unload you can chain. It’s nice for taking out tanky builds. Just got to make sure you stay moving across the target’s view in case scrapper, warrior, tempest, etc throw up reflects. I think it’s absolutely better than rapid fire just because of how ini works. You can rip someone to shreds just opening with a sneak attack then unload a few times + steal for init.

Still love my scrapper for roaming in wvw. Feeling the nerfs a bit but it still handles well against most builds in the game. I don’t run near enough condi clear though.

Wvw is in an…interesting place atm. We need more population, coverage and class balance. Less troll builds would be nice too. Because there are people bored enough to contest your waypoints for 3 days straight on trapper thief and full bunker druid. Still feels like wvw is alive though…if limping.

I can reproduce this as many times as you want by going to WvW and hovering mouse over the reward track chest icon atop the minimap.

Thank you for the additional information. I’ve now found the offending code and am looking into potential fixes.

Here is a temporary work-around until the real fix is released:

  1. Open your World vs World panel
  2. Go to the reward track tab
  3. Activate a track

This is happening because you currently have no track actively able to receive points and that case was not properly handled.

This worked for me. And then I realized I haven’t been getting reward track rewards all this time? No wonder food was starting to feel expensive.

Just a question … what happens to pain absorption if you decide to nerf resistance under the various suggestions? So far it looks like it would basically be a potential auto suicide skill if resistance was say stackable

I’ve moved on to Dragonhunter for solo roaming now and am having a blast. The active defenses available on a DH coupled with frequently having the initiative in a fight is a refreshing change. Even though I just started learning DH for only a few days, I’m killing other roamers much more easily than when I was using a Reaper =/ That made me feel sad somewhat. 2 years of wrecking my brain to find the best build each patch and the best way to fight other classes with my Reaper, not being able to compare to 2 days of learning how to fight with Dragonhunter…

I ended up switching to power scrapper and face rolling just about anything I can catch roaming or small group. Makes me a bit sad as well though. I cc chain every reaper/necro I see…with a bit of sadness and a bit of spite.

Killing thieves so easily does ease the pain a bit though.

Resistance Nerf

The complete solution is (1) reduce AoE cleanses (single button ones) to make conditions more viable in group fights, (2) nerf resistance down to a 33% damage reduction, (3) make changes to boonshare to take it out of the meta.

Doing this without addressing some issues with conditions would usher in the dark ages of the full condi blob. Power is already greatly mitigated by condi bunker builds that can build for near max dmg while condi chews through sustain builds like warm butter.

Already have blobs running heavy condi with boon strip/corrupt. Buffing them that much would probably see condi rule every scale in wvw.

Though I admit an army of unblockable condi reapers as a backline sounds fun. I get tired of seeing a bunch of meteor shower spam that lasts like half an hour per cast. I sincerely doubt this would be good for wvw though.

The damage from 1 needle trap and steal won’t cause you to be at 10% health apparently you don’t even know how much damage those condies actually do, now if you spam skills while having confusion you deserve it..

Actually only those 2 skills can kill you. You cleanse mostly the cripple away and some other useless stuff, prolly left with confusion, poison and bleeding.

Yeah this. Lots of classes are stuck using multiple skills to peel 1 or 2 condis at a time. You can’t really wait either as it will just get buried with covering condis…happens a lot anyway.

It’s nearly as bad as the mesmer who portals away at the start of a stomp and comes back at the end of it, so you can’t interrupt him/her.

Portal stomp is used after they down you at least. The perma-stealth never revealed thief kills you without any possible counter or way to deal with them at all. It’s an “I win and you can’t do anything” button. And lol at cleanse. They will re-apply conditions faster than you can remove them, unless you are an Ele maybe. And they will still be in stealth all the time. It’s pathetic design.

That’s a huge understatement, again the majority of there conditions are on relying that you stand in their Aoe fields and tied to hefty CDs 20 sec for steal and 25 secs plus on traps.

You know that the thieves just STAND on you and drop traps,kite in stealth and then if trap isnt on CD they just put it again, until youre dead. 3 stacks confusion with steal which doesnt reveal them, and you heal once and youre dead by confusion. GG.

It’s not like you can’t cleanse and walk away, the amount of condis the thief can put on you is negligible unless you afk in the Caltrops/ trap Aoe red circle, and spam skills without cleansing…. I think I saw a video of someone doing just that and that’s how I view everyone that complains about this spec.

what exactly do you think would save that mesmer with that build and more importantly what is he able to do to that thief?

That Mesmer could have gotten away but chose to spam abilities without cleansing on the Dolyak for one that’s the only reason he died, he could have easily disengaged. The trapper troll thief build can’t kill any competent player it will only kill bads, he could have cleansed and healed then aoed found the BP circles an force thief into revealed but again I see everyone complaining of this troll build to act just like the Mesmer in the video spamming abilities without cleansing or attempting to disengage till they are already dead….

that mesmer runs cleanse on shatter and heal, he used those, after that theres nothing for him to do so who cares what he does next, his cleanses are longer cooldown than thiefs traps, its futile

his damaging skills mostly require target as well, he cant hurt the thief

so far the only people i checked (who also say that people cant die to this) are all from NA and all of them provide vague statements how easy it is to outrun or outcleanse… i doubt any of you met any good trapper thief

Yep all depends on what class and build you’re running and the situation. If you can stun break, dodge and then manage the condis they blew a lot of their traps and you basically take no damage. Do it a couple of times and they’ll find an easier target. They pretty much need to wait for all CDs if they blow their burst and you escape.

If you have stun break on CD or get caught in the traps by an extra immob and don’t have resistance, op heals or cleanse it could be gg.

They are situationally amazing. Roaming/havoc/small group if your not a class with op cleanse or you don’t have a competent buddy that can share resistance or cleanse you’re probably screwed.

1v1 can still be outplayed just by avoiding attacks and managing all the passive proc crap. It scales badly though. Getting focused by 2 or more solid condi builds without resistance or buddies to help cleanse is trouble unless you can disengage at will or have op cleanse.

Fixing cleanse and passive condi application would be a good first step to not needing resistance as much.

The problem with T4 is that the lopsided matchup with the quadserver took place for far too long. Anet delayed this change so much that everyone pretty much already moved out of the tier or is doing somenthing else and not bothering about WvW. Problably 2-3 weeks ago we would still have man power, but now there are only 5 dead servers.

As a member of the four server link I agree with that. I barely play wvw now.

3 server link same. All the weeks of stupidity pretty much melted us down to nothing.

Honestly all we need is glicko to be reseted every pairing and surely fiascos like T4 won’t happen again. If CD moved up sooner, maybe T4 would still be active. Now it’s a wasteland because everyone bailed out of it and there is no T3 server that will fit as the 3rd contenter.

Pretty much this. I’d take GoM pre-link in current tier 4 over our 3 server pair atm. Everyone is gone, transferred or just doesn’t care anymore.

But I would like to see closer scores overall. I know that’s asking a lot but for the benefit of players and the risk of demoralizing driving more players outta wvw. We can’t lose anymore, fact anet and you’re doing an excellent job driving them off.

Unfortunely it’s too late for T4 for that. Maybe 3 weeks ago we would still have people, but now everyone is pretty much gone to other servers or is farming Bloodstone Fen to even bother doing WvW.

Yeah getting really empty. Feels like most of the time we’re running worse than GoM numbers pre-link. I really am about done myself. Our new matchup buddy doesn’t like to fight or roam and I log on much more than the one guild group that farms them. They mostly just cap things every 10 mins in a huge circle. It’s the most boring thing I’ve ever seen. It’s a literal eotm worthy ktrain without as many uplevels.

I don’t trust the other tiers to be much better at this point though. Not sure where to go or whether it’s just hopeless.

Bruiser scrapper is the most fun for me atm. Probably not the best but wrecks stuck in small group fights.

Lol maybe t4 isn’t so bad now. When our guild groups are on its basically just a gold farm even massively outnumbered. You can have the ppt and ktrain as long as we get to roll over omniblobs like they’re paper. Good trade.

Yeah thing is getting hit by power doesn’t ignore stuff like armor, protection, damage reduction. You also have a lot more sources of this stuff whereas condi cleanse can be very limited or build restricting on some classes.

I can dance around in aoe in a big fight and even deal with the occasional big hit or being focused a bit. As soon as I’m not getting cleanse or resistance against groups with a lot of condi I’m either going down or I’m running like mad trying to survive.

It really is screwed up though. Resistance and/or more cleanse is needed because it is screwed up. Condi is near useless in fights where the group runs proper cleanse/resistance. It can be op as hell in smaller fights or against pug blobs though.

It just needs fixed.

Someone mentioned in the bugs forum that they can reproduce the crash by hovering over the reward track bars that reside on top of the minimap in WvW. I am able to confirm this.

I can confirm this. I’m on win 10 and just hovering over the reward track icon insta crashes me. Nice catch.

Reveal on direct condi application would make them use that tanky dire/trailblazers gear instead of getting a chance to drop full condi burst on someone without even leaving stealth. Passive procs shouldn’t reveal though and neither should actual condi ticks. Just active application via skills.

I saw quite a lot of thieves in wvw today – they all died within seconds.
But then again: I was walking around, minding my own business and all of the sudden thief 1 jumped out of the bushes, then thief 2, 3, 4…
What they didn’t know was that 5 guys were taking care of my wellbeing – I had no troubles to clear out my inventory.

In the end: Deceiver is right: Small scale might become a problem – the rest won’t – so give it a week or two and most thieves will be gone again.

Yeah thieves everywhere and squashing them all day. I’m guessing well coordinated gank squads will get the best use out of this. Mag does come to mind. Roaming thieves are solo much of the time anyway and actual group v group fights will probably be spamming cleanse and resistance.

DH and EB can handle CD just fine

The matchup gets a lot better when dh busts out a blob and does something other than ktraining sf stuff while cd is blobbing sf keep. Not only is cd running fat at all hours but we’re suffering from uneven pressure.

Seeing dh jump in against cd today was both refreshing and fun. Even with CDs ridiculous numbers the matchup will be more fun if we have 3 sides actually looking for a fight.

Going to have to reign in a couple condi builds if they mess with resistance. Seems like anet is doing the opposite though. At this point we really need more condi cleanse and/or it needs fixed so it doesn’t take 3 cleanses just to try to dig out the burn/confusion/bleed.

Lots of times this stuff is passive procs or dumped from stealth too. You could throw an aoe or walk through the crowd and end up with a boatload of confusion, burn and covering condis without anyone actually hitting you.

Most of the nuthug fail guilds transferred to t1 already. T4 is just ripe with lolli gaggers that don’t really care about siege placement, over time PPT, map politic, etc. Otherwise, a handful of the t2-4 guilds would give more than half the guilds in t1 a run for their money.

Yeah this. Most of us are just bored and roaming. Still some good guilds even in T4 though. They are just in hibernation atm because there’s no reason to get serious.

I seriously doubt that the people that die to this build can be trusted to walk around irl without being covered in bubble wrap. It takes a special kind of stupid.

This depends a lot on your build and the state of your cooldowns. Troll builds like to show up in troll moments. Also fun having 2 or 3 of these about at the same time.

At the very least, applying condis should reveal you. Just like applying power dmg.

Still one of the most annoying builds ever and just pure cancer to roaming. The traps and immob can actually kill you outright if you can’t stun break and clear the immob in time.

Really is no wonder so many switch to cheesy warrior and druid builds. They can pretty much ignore these and other condi thieves/mes which seem to be absolutely everywhere now.

Meh blobs just want to roll through stuff. They don’t want real fights. Most of the zerglings drop instantly if they get too close to the edges. I enjoy disabling their stuff 2 or 3 times just to mess with them.

They get so mad when the train slows down. They deserve the inconvenience for balling up into a blob despite being terrible at the game. Seriously rolling with 3 to 4 times the numbers of the next largest group and strutting around after knocking over paper towers.

They’ve turned wvw into eotm and they deserve whatever inconvenience a brave soul can dish out to them.

I could see this if you needed to be out of combat and it only worked on tower/keep siege. Open field is asking for trouble.

if your server is incapable of burning that blob’s supply, u gonna lose ur stuffs either way. furthermore, that is a really stupid argument. they can juz rebuild another siege and building multi sieges is way more effective then repairing sieges

the main point of the repair hammer is for freaking canon or mortar since you cannot rebuild them.

Then fix the matchups first plz. As I said, I wouldn’t mind something like this on tower/keep siege.

So boring. Right after the first link it was 3 blobs fighting over sm while roamers, havoc and gank squads ran amok. Now it’s just this tired 1 pushing…blob comes…20 of them die pushing but 45 more walk over their bodies otw through. No one has enough to flip sm as the batphone will just bring more from BLs.

Keep under siege all day with sometimes hilarious failures…then capped later when no one is on to defend properly.

SM not flipping is one of the best indicators of a lame matchup though and makes everything stagnant.

The fields pile up because of the field duration. It’s ok for it to hurt and even down people but it’s a bit crazy atm. I used it yesterday to hit an attacking blob. I was getting almost 5k burn ticks. All those eles popping water attunement was kind of funny.

Do something about open field siege. Bigger server throwing down 6 trebs, 4 shield gens and 5 balis on anz hill because they know there’s no way in hell we can push them off and they don’t want to actually work to take overlook. We defended in lord room anyway because they’re all scrubs but it sounds like this would make it even worse.

Stop making changes that add more advantage to numbers. The rest of us can’t repair siege anyway because 50 staff eles are bombing the crap out of it.

I’m on Ebay too and we are not happy being paired up with DH as it is, but this nonstop blobbing is so tiresome, we’ve gone somewhat inactive.

When I was checking on WvW. I kept seeing less, and less activity of my server-bros. What was very devastating to my own morale, was that one of our own actually transferred over to CD because we were constantly losing in last matchup, and to this match up thanks to constant lack of numbers.

Everyone seem to be abandoning the losing servers for the winning ones.

Yeah that is sad. GoM still has a lot of familiar faces I’d gladly run into a 5v10 with but it feels like Anet is telling me to transfer if I want to have fun. Every day it’s the same. Back cap and beat off a blob for hours on a keep with no walls only to have it capped when people finally have to eat or sleep.

The field duration is probably the root of the problem. It lets you obliterate a large area to the point where people are catching an instant 15 to 20 stacks per tick. Add the lack of visibility on lower settings and squishies are going up in smoke instantly and they don’t know why.

The red circle will really help. At the very least it will warn people on lower settings. Won’t do much for those in bigger fights though…where aoe and bodies are everywhere.

Warriors and necros are manageable. Necros hide by doors and warriors run like hell once stances and endure pain is blown. The condi mes and thief though just make roaming more annoying.

Mes in particular needs to either tone down confusion application or actually nerf confusion altogether. The thieves are just annoying troll builds.

Fix perplex, trapper runes and confusion would probably be enough to reign it in a little without touching the classes. Dire/trailblazer wouldn’t be so bad without hitting from perma stealth and crazy confusion application.

Confusion in particular is anti fight and hits really hard just cycling through cleanses trying to clear it.

There’s a banker on every map. Just right click the guild guy to get your personal bank.

Afaik this doesn’t let you access crafting mats. Which need cleaned out every once in awhile.

I commonly end up with 20+ stacks just skirmishing by sm. It’s a little over the top and stops some fights cold. Perma treb poison and swimming in ac/cat spam is bad enough

Everything in tier 4 is hilarity. Funny things happen everyday. 60 dying on gate to a cannon? Check! 5 or 10 falling off anz vista while trying to snipe people on ol village wall? Check! Wiping a blob on tower lord with a third of the numbers? Check! Winning 1v5s? Check!

It’s pretty much eotm with more coverage issues.
